1. తనయొద్ద గుఱ్ఱములను రథములను సమకూర్చుకొనిన ముప్పది ఇద్దరు రాజులుండగా సిరియారాజైన బెన్హదదు తన సైన్యమంతటిని సమకూర్చుకొని బయలుదేరి షోమ్రోనుకు ముట్టడి వేసి దానిమీద యుద్ధము చేసెను.

1. Then Ben-hadad the King of Aram assembled all his armie, and two and thirtie Kings with him, with horses, and charets, and went vp and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.

2. అతడు పట్టణమందున్న ఇశ్రాయేలురాజైన అహాబునొద్దకు దూతలను పంపి

2. And he sent messengers to Ahab King of Israel, into the citie,

3. నీ వెండియు నీ బంగారమును నావే, నీ భార్యలలోను నీ పిల్లలలోను సౌందర్యముగలవారు నావారని బెన్హదదు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని వారిచేత వర్తమానము తెలియజేసెను.

3. And sayd vnto him, Thus sayth Ben-hadad, Thy siluer and thy golde is mine: also thy women, and thy fayre children are mine.

4. అందుకు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునా యేలినవాడవైన రాజా, నీవిచ్చిన సెలవుప్రకారము నేనును నాకు కలిగిన సమస్తమును నీ వశమున నున్నామనిప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చి వారిని పంపగా

4. And the King of Israel answered, and sayd, My lord King, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I haue.

5. ఆ దూతలు పోయి ఆ మాట తెలియజేసి తిరిగి వచ్చిబెన్హదదు ఇట్లు సెల విచ్చుచున్నాడని తెలియజెప్పిరినీవు నీ వెండిని నీ బంగారమును నీ భార్యలను నీ పిల్లలను నాకు అప్పగింప వలెనని నేను నీయొద్దకు నా సేవకులను పంపియున్నాను.

5. And when the messengers came againe, they said, Thus commandeth Ben-hadad, and saith, When I shall send vnto thee, and command, thou shalt deliuer me thy siluer and thy golde, and thy women, and thy children,

6. రేపు ఈ వేళకు వారు నీ యింటిని నీ సేవకుల యిండ్లను పరిశోధిం చుదురు; అప్పుడు నీ కంటికి ఏది యింపుగా నుండునో దానిని వారు చేతపట్టుకొని తీసికొని పోవుదురు.

6. Or els I will sende my seruants vnto thee by to morow this time: and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy seruants: and whatsoeuer is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall take it in their handes, and bring it away.

7. కాగా ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు దేశపు పెద్దలనందరిని పిలువ నంపించిబెన్హదదునీ భార్యలను పిల్లలను వెండి బంగారములను పట్టుకొందునని వర్తమానము పంపగా నేను ఇయ్యనని చెప్పలేదు; ఆ మనుష్యుడు చేయ గోరుచున్న మోసము ఎట్టిదో అది మీరు తెలిసికొనుడనెను.

7. Then the King of Israel sent for all the Elders of the land, and sayd, Take heede, I pray you, and see how he seeketh mischiefe: for he sent vnto me for my wiues, and for my children, and for my siluer, and for my golde, and I denyed him not.

8. నీవతని మాట వినవద్దు, దానికి ఒప్పుకొనవద్దు అని ఆ పెద్దలును జనులందరును అతనితో చెప్పిరి,

8. And all the Elders, and all the people sayd to him, Hearken not vnto him, nor consent.

9. గనుక అతడుమీరు రాజైన నా యేలిన వానితో తెలియజెప్పవలసినదేమనగానీవు మొదట నీ సేవకుడనైన నాకు ఇచ్చిపంపిన ఆజ్ఞను నేను తప్పక అనుసరింతును గాని, నీవిప్పుడు సెలవిచ్చిన దానిని నేను చేయలేనని బెన్హదదు దూతలతో చెప్పుడనెను. ఆ దూతలు పోయి బెన్హదదునొద్దకు వచ్చి ఆ ప్రత్యుత్తరము తెలియజేయగా

9. Wherefore hee sayde vnto the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lorde the King, All that thou didddest sende for to thy seruant at the first time, that I will doe, but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him an answere.

10. బెన్హదదు మరల అతని యొద్దకు దూతలను పంపినాతోకూడ వచ్చిన వారందరును పిడికెడు ఎత్తికొని పోవుటకు షోమ్రోను యొక్క ధూళి చాలినయెడల దేవతలు నాకు గొప్ప అపాయము కలుగజేయుదురు గాక అని వర్తమానము చేసెను.

10. And Ben-hadad sent vnto him, and sayde, The gods do so to me and more also, if the dust of Samaria be ynough to all the people that follow me, for euery man an handfull.

11. అందుకు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుతన ఆయుధమును నడుమున బిగించుకొనువాడు దానివిప్పి తీసి వేసినవానివలె అతిశయపడకూడదని చెప్పుడనెను.

11. And the King of Israel answered, and sayd, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth his harneis, boast himselfe, as he that putteth it off.

12. బన్హదదును ఆ రాజులును గుడారములయందు విందు జరి గించుకొనుచుండగా, ఈ ప్రత్యుత్తరము వారికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు తన సేవకులను పిలిపించి యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధ పడుడని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను. వారు సన్నద్ధులై పట్టణము ఎదుట నిలువగా

12. And when he heard that tidings, as he was with the Kings drinking in the pauilions, he sayd vnto his seruants, Bring forth your engines, and they set them against the citie.

13. ప్రవక్తయైన యొకడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన అహాబునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతనితో ఇట్లనెనుయెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాఈ గొప్ప దండంతయు నీవు చూచితివే; నేను యెహోవానని నీవు గ్రహించునట్లు నేడు దానిని నీచేతి కప్పగించెదను.

13. And beholde, there came a Prophet vnto Ahab King of Israel, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Hast thou seene all this great multitude? beholde, I will deliuer it into thine hande this day, that thou mayest knowe, that I am the Lord.

14. ఇది యెవరిచేత జరుగునని అహాబు అడుగగా అతడురాజ్యాధిపతులలో ఉన్న ¸యౌవనులచేత జరుగునని యెహోవా సెల విచ్చుచున్నాడని చెప్పెను. యుద్ధమును ఎవరు ఆరంభము చేయవలెనని రాజు అడుగగా అతడునీవే అని ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

14. And Ahab sayd, By whome? And he sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, By the seruants of the princes of the prouinces. He sayde againe, Who shall order the battel? And he answered, Thou.

15. వెంటనే అతడు రాజ్యాధిపతులలో ఉన్న వారి లెక్కచూడగా వారు రెండువందల ముప్పది ఇద్దరైరి. తరువాత జనులను, అనగా ఇశ్రాయేలు వారినందరిని లెక్కింపగా వారు ఏడువేల మందియైరి.

15. Then he nombred the seruantes of the princes of the prouinces, and they were two hundreth, two and thirtie: and after them he nombred the whole people of all the children of Israel, euen seuen thousand.

16. మధ్యాహ్నమందు వీరు బయలుదేరగా బెన్హదదును అతనికి సహకారులైన ఆ ముప్పది ఇద్దరు రాజులును గుడారములలో త్రాగి మత్తులై యుండిరి.

16. And they went out at noone: but Ben-hadad did drinke till he was drunken in the tentes, both he and the Kings: for two and thirtie Kings helped him.

17. రాజ్యాధిపతులలోనున్న ఆ ¸యౌవనులు ముందుగా బయలు దేరినప్పుడు సంగతి తెలిసికొనుటకై బెన్హదదు కొందరిని పంపెను. షోమ్రోనులోనుండి కొందరు వచ్చియున్నారని బంటులు తెలియజేయగా

17. So the seruants of the princes of the prouinces went out first: and Ben-hadad sent out, and they shewed him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.

18. అతడువారు సమాధానముగా వచ్చినను యుద్ధము చేయ వచ్చినను వారిని సజీవులుగా పట్టుకొనిరండని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

18. And he sayde, Whether they be come out for peace, take them aliue: or whether they bee come out to fight, take them yet aliue.

19. రాజ్యాధిపతులలోనున్న ఆ ¸యౌవనులును వారితో కూడనున్న దండువారును పట్టణములోనుండి బయలుదేరి

19. So they came out of the citie, to wit, the seruants of the princes of the prouinces, and the hoste which followed them.

20. ప్రతివాడు తన్ను ఎదిరించిన వానిని చంపగా సిరియనులు పారిపోయిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు వారిని తరుము చుండగా సిరియా రాజైన బెన్హదదు గుఱ్ఱమెక్కి రౌతులతో గూడ తప్పించుకొని పోయెను.

20. And they slew euery one his enemie: and the Aramites fled, and Israel pursued them: but Ben-hadad ye King of Aram escaped on an horse with his horsemen.

21. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు బయలుదేరి గుఱ్ఱములను రథములను ఓడించి సిరియనులను బహుగా హతము చేసెను.

21. And the King of Israel went out, and smote the horses and charets, and with a great slaughter slew he the Aramites.

22. అప్పుడు ఆ ప్రవక్త ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చినీవు బలము తెచ్చుకొనుము, నీవు చేయవలసిన దానిని కనిపెట్టి యుండుము, ఏడాదినాటికి సిరియారాజు నీమీదికి మరల వచ్చునని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

22. (For there had come a Prophet to the King of Israel, and had sayd vnto him, Goe, be of good courage, and consider, and take heede what thou doest: for when the yeere is gone about, the King of Aram wil come vp against thee)

23. అయితే సిరియా రాజు సేవకులు అతనితో ఈలాగు మనవి చేసిరివారి దేవతలు కొండదేవతలు గనుక వారు మనకంటె బలవంతులైరి. అయితే మనము మైదానమందు వారితో యుద్ధము చేసిన యెడల నిశ్చయముగా వారిని గెలుచుదుము.

23. Then the seruants of the King of Aram said vnto him, Their gods are gods of the moutaines, and therefore they ouercame vs: but let vs fight against them in the playne, and doubtlesse we shall ouercome them.

24. ఇందుకు మీరు చేయవలసిన దేమనగా, ఆ రాజులలో ఒక్కొకని వాని వాని ఆధిపత్యములోనుండి తీసివేసి వారికి బదులుగా సేనాధిపతులను నిర్ణయించి

24. And this doe, Take the Kings away, euery one out of his place, and place captaines for them.

25. నీవు పోగొట్టుకొనిన బలము ఎంతో అంత బలమును, గుఱ్ఱములకు గుఱ్ఱములను రథములకు రథములను లెక్కించి పోగు చేయుము; అప్పుడు మనము మైదానమునందు వారితో యుద్ధము చేసినయెడల అవశ్యముగా మనము వారిని గెలు చుదమని మనవి చేయగా అతడు వారు చెప్పిన మాట విని ఆ ప్రకారము చేసెను.

25. And nomber thy selfe an armie, like the armie that thou hast lost, with such horses, and such charets, and we wil fight against them in the plaine, and doubtlesse we shall ouercome them: and he hearkened vnto their voyce, and did so.

26. కాబట్టి మరుసంవత్సరము బెన్హదదు సిరియనులను సమకూర్చి లెక్కచూచి బయలుదేరి పోయి ఇశ్రాయేలువారితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకై ఆఫెకునకు వచ్చెను.

26. And after the yeere was gone about, Ben-hadad nombred the Aramites, and went vp to Aphek to fight against Israel.

27. ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరును పోగు చేయబడి సిద్ధమై వారిని ఎదిరింప బయలుదేరిరి. ఇశ్రా యేలువారు మేకపిల్లల మందలు రెంటివలె వారియెదుట దిగియుండిరి గాని దేశము సిరియనులచేత కప్పబడి యుండెను.

27. And the children of Israel were nombred, and were all assembled and went against them, and the children of Israel pitched before them, like two litle flockes of kiddes: but the Aramites filled the countrey.

28. అప్పుడు దైవజనుడైన యొకడు వచ్చి ఇశ్రా యేలు రాజుతో ఇట్లనెనుయెహోవా సెలవిచ్చున దేమనగాసిరియనులు యెహోవాకొండలకు దేవుడేగాని లోయలకు దేవుడు కాడని అనుకొందురు; అయితే నేను యెహోవానై యున్నానని మీరు తెలిసికొనునట్లు ఈ గొప్ప సమూహమంతయు నీ చేతికి అప్పగించెదను.

28. And there came a man of God, and spake vnto the King of Israel, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because the Aramites haue sayd, The Lord is the God of the mountaines, and not God of the valleis, therefore will I deliuer all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

29. వారు ఎదురుముఖములుగా ఏడుదినములు గుడారములు వేసికొని యుండిన తరువాత ఏడవ దినమందు యుద్ధమునకు కలిసికొనగా ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఒక దినమందే సిరియనుల కాల్బలము లక్షమందిని హతము చేసిరి.

29. And they pitched one ouer against the other seuen dayes, and in the seuenth day the battel was ioyned: and the children of Israel slew of the Aramites an hundreth thousand footemen in one day.

30. తక్కినవారు ఆఫెకు పట్టణములోనికి పారిపోగా అచ్చటనున్న యొకప్రాకారము శేషించినవారిలో ఇరువది యేడు వేలమంది మీద పడెను. బెన్హదదు పారిపోయి ఆ పట్టణమందు ప్రవేశించి ఆ యాగదులలో చొరగా

30. But the rest fled to Aphek into the citie: and there fel a wall vpon seuen and twentie thousand men that were left: and Ben-hadad fled into the citie, and came into a secret chamber.

31. అతని సేవకులుఇశ్రాయేలు వారి రాజులు దయాపరులని మేమువింటిమి గనుక నీకు అనుకూలమైనయెడల మేము నడుమునకు గోనెలు కట్టుకొని తలమీద త్రాళ్లు వేసికొని ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునొద్దకు పోవుదుము; అతడు నీ ప్రాణమును రక్షించు నేమో అని రాజుతో అనగా రాజు అందుకు సమ్మతించెను.

31. And his seruants sayd vnto him, Beholde nowe, we haue heard say that the Kings of the house of Israel are mercifull Kings: we pray thee, let vs put sacke cloth about our loynes, and ropes about our heads, and goe out to the King of Israel: it may be that he will saue thy life.

32. కావున వారు తమ నడుములకు గోనెలు కట్టుకొని తలమీద త్రాళ్లు వేసి కొని ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చినీ దాసుడైన బెన్హదదుదయచేసి నన్ను బ్రదుకనిమ్మని మనవి చేయుటకై మమ్మును పంపెనని చెప్పగా అతడుబెన్హదదు నా సహోదరుడు, అతడు ఇంకను సజీవుడై యున్నాడా అని యడిగెను.

32. Then they gyrded sackecloth about their loynes, and put ropes about their heads, and came to the King of Israel, and sayd, Thy seruant Ben-hadad sayth, I pray thee, let me liue: and he sayd, Is he yet aliue? he is my brother.

33. అప్పుడు ఆ మనుష్యులు సంగతి గ్రహించి అతని మనస్సు ఏలాగున నున్నదో అది నిశ్చయముగా గుర్తెరిగి ఆ మాటనుబట్టిబెన్హదదు నీకు సహోదరుడే అని చెప్పగా అతడుమీరు వెళ్లి అతనిని తోడుకొని రండనెను. బెన్హదదు తనయొద్దకు రాగా అతడు తన రథముమీద అతని ఎక్కించుకొనెను.

33. Now the men tooke diliget heede, if they could catch any thing of him, and made haste, and sayd, Thy brother Ben-hadad. And he sayd, Go, bring him. So Ben-hadad came out vnto him, and he caused him to come vp vnto the chariot.

34. అంతట బెన్హదదుతమ తండ్రి చేతిలోనుండి నా తండ్రి తీసికొనిన పట్టణములను నేను మరల అప్పగించెదను; మరియు నా తండ్రి షోమ్రోనులో వీధులను కట్టించుకొనినట్లు దమస్కులో తమకొరకు తమరు వీధులను కట్టించు కొనవచ్చును అని అతనితో చెప్పగా అహాబు ఈ ప్రకారముగా నీతో సంధిచేసి నిన్ను పంపివేయుదునని చెప్పి అతనితో సంధిచేసి అతని పోనిచ్చెను.

34. And Ben-hadad sayd vnto him, The cities, which my father tooke from thy father, I wil restore, and thou shalt make streetes for thee in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will let thee goe with this couenant. So he made a couenant with him, and let him goe.

35. అంతట ప్రవక్తల శిష్యులలో ఒకడు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞచేత తన చెలికానితోనన్ను కొట్టుమనగా అతడు అతని కొట్టుటకు ఒప్పకపోయినప్పుడు

35. Then a certaine man of the children of the Prophets sayd vnto his neighbour by the comandement of the Lord, Smite me, I pray thee. But the man refused to smite him.

36. అతడునీవు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞకు లోబడకపోతివి గనుక నీవు నన్ను విడిచిపోగానే సింహము నిన్ను చంపునని అతనితో చెప్పెను. అతడు వెళ్లిపోగానే సింహమొకటి అతనికి ఎదురై అతనిని చంపెను.

36. Then sayd he vnto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voyce of the Lord, beholde, as soone as thou art departed from me, a lyon shall slay thee. So when he was departed from him, a lyon found him and slew him.

37. తరువాత మరియొకడు అతనికి కనబడినప్పుడు అతడునన్ను కొట్టుమనగా అతడు అతని కొట్టి గాయ పరచెను.

37. Then he founde another man, and sayde, Smite mee, I pray thee. And the man smote him, and in smiting wounded him.

38. అప్పుడు ఆ ప్రవక్త పోయి, కండ్లమీద పాగా కట్టుకొని మారు వేషము వేసికొని, మార్గమందు రాజు యొక్క రాకకై కనిపెట్టుకొని యుండి

38. So the Prophet departed, and wayted for the King by the way, and disguised himselfe with ashes vpon his face.

39. రాజు వచ్చుట చూచి బిగ్గరగా రాజుతో ఈలాగు మనవి చేసికొనెనునీ దాసుడనైన నేను యుద్ధములోనికి పోయియుండగా ఇదిగో ఒకడు ఇటు తిరిగి ఒక మనుష్యుని నాయొద్దకు తోడుకొని వచ్చి యీ మనుష్యుని కనిపెట్టుము; ఏ విధము గానైనను వాడు తప్పించుకొని పోయినయెడల వాని ప్రాణమునకు మారుగా నీ ప్రాణముపోవును; లేదా నీవు రెండు మణుగుల వెండిని ఇయ్యవలెననెను.

39. And when the King came by, he cried vnto the King, and said, Thy seruant went into the middes of the battel: and beholde, there went away a man, whom another man brought vnto me, and sayd, Keepe this man: if he be lost, and want, thy life shall go for his life, or els thou shalt pay a talent of siluer.

40. అయితే నీ దాసుడనైన నేను పనిమీద అక్కడక్కడ తిరుగుచుండగా వాడు కనబడకపోయెను. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రా యేలురాజునీకు నీవే తీర్పు తీర్బుకొంటివి గనుక నీవుచెప్పినట్టుగానే నీకు జరుగును అని అతనికి సెలవియ్యగా

40. And as thy seruant had here and there to do, he was gone: And the King of Israel said vnto him, So shall thy iudgement be: thou hast giuen sentence.

41. అతడు త్వరపడి తన కండ్లమీది పాగా తీసివేయగా చూచి అతడు ప్రవక్తలలో ఒకడని రాజు పోల్చెను.

41. And hee hasted, and tooke the ashes away from his face: and the King of Israel knewe him that he was of the Prophets:

42. అప్పుడు అతడుయెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగానేను శపించిన మనుష్యుని నీవు నీ చేతిలోనుండి తప్పించుకొని పోనిచ్చితివి గనుక వాని ప్రాణమునకు మారుగా నీ ప్రాణమును, వాని జనులకు మారుగా నీ జనులును అప్పగింప బడుదురని రాజుతో అనగా

42. And he said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast let goe out of thine handes a man whom I appoynted to dye, thy life shall goe for his life, and thy people for his people.

43. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు మూతి ముడుచు కొనిన వాడై కోపముతో షోమ్రోనులోని తన నగరునకు వచ్చెను.

43. And the King of Israel went to his house heauie and in displeasure, and came to Samaria.
