1. తరువాత సొలొమోను ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో కుమార్తెను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అతనికి అల్లుడాయెను. తన నగరును యెహోవా మందిరమును యెరూషలేము చుట్టు ప్రాకార మును కట్టించుట ముగించిన తరువాత ఫరోకుమార్తెను దావీదు పురమునకు రప్పించెను.

1. Solomon made an agreement with the king of Egypt by marrying his daughter and bringing her to Jerusalem. At this time Solomon was still building his palace and the Temple of the Lord, as well as a wall around Jerusalem.

2. ఆ దినముల వరకు యెహోవా నామమున కట్టింపబడిన మందిరము లేకపోగా జనులు ఉన్నత స్థలములయందు మాత్రము బలులను అర్పించుచు వచ్చిరి.

2. The Temple for the worship of the Lord had not yet been finished, so people were still sacrificing at altars in many places of worship.

3. తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు నియమించిన కట్టడలను అనుసరించుచు సొలొమోను యెహోవాయందు ప్రేమయుంచెను గాని యున్నత స్థలములయందు అతడు బలులను మాత్రము అర్పించుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండెను.

3. Solomon showed he loved the Lord by following the commands his father David had given him, except many other places of worship were still used to offer sacrifices and to burn incense.

4. గిబియోను ముఖ్యమైన ఉన్నతస్థలమై యుండెను గనుక బలుల నర్పించుటకై రాజు అక్కడికి పోయి ఆ బలిపీఠముమీద వెయ్యి దహనబలులను అర్పించెను.

4. King Solomon went to Gibeon to offer a sacrifice, because it was the most important place of worship. He offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

5. గిబియోనులో యెహోవా రాత్రివేళ స్వప్నమందు సొలొ మోనునకు ప్రత్యక్షమైనేను నీకు దేని నిచ్చుట నీకిష్టమోదాని నడుగుమని దేవుడు అతనితో సెలవియ్యగా

5. While he was at Gibeon, the Lord appeared to him in a dream during the night. God said, 'Ask for whatever you want me to give you.'

6. సొలొమోను ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెనునీ దాసుడును నా తండ్రియునైన దావీదు నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగా సత్య మును నీతిని అనుసరించి యథార్థమైన మనసు గలవాడై ప్రవర్తించెను గనుక నీవు అతనియెడల పరిపూర్ణ కటాక్షమగు పరచి, యీ దినముననున్నట్లుగా అతని సింహా సనముమీద అతని కుమారుని కూర్చుండబెట్టి అతనియందుమహాకృపను చూపియున్నావు.

6. Solomon answered, 'You were very kind to your servant, my father David. He obeyed you, and he was honest and lived right. You showed great kindness to him when you allowed his son to be king after him.

7. నా దేవా యెహోవా, నీవు నా తండ్రియైన దావీదునకు బదులుగా నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రాజుగా నియమించి యున్నావు; అయితే నేను బాలుడను, కార్యములు జరుపుటకు నాకు బుద్ధి చాలదు;

7. Lord my God, now you have made me, your servant, king in my father's place. But I am like a little child; I don't know how to do what must be done.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నేను నీవు కోరుకొనిన జనుల మధ్య ఉన్నాను; వారు విస్తరించియున్నందున వారిని లెక్క పెట్టుటయు వారి విశాలదేశమును తనకీ చేయుటయు అసాధ్యము.

8. I, your servant, am here among your chosen people, and there are too many of them to count.

9. ఇంత గొప్పదైన నీ జనమునకు న్యాయము తీర్చగలవాడు ఎవ్వడు? కాబట్టి నేను మంచి చెడ్డలు వివేచించి నీ జనులకు న్యాయము తీర్చునట్లు నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వివేకముగల హృదయము దయ చేయుము.

9. I ask that you give me an obedient heart so I can rule the people in the right way and will know the difference between right and wrong. Otherwise, it is impossible to rule this great people of yours.'

10. సొలొమోను చేసిన యీ మనవి ప్రభువునకు అనుకూలమాయెను గనుక

10. The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked this.

11. దేవుడు అతనికి ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుదీర్ఘాయువునైనను ఐశ్వర్యమునైనను నీ శత్రువుల ప్రాణమునైనను అడుగక, న్యాయములను గ్రహించు టకు వివేకము అనుగ్రహించుమని నీవు అడిగితివి.

11. So God said to him, 'You did not ask for a long life, or riches for yourself, or the death of your enemies. Since you asked for wisdom to make the right decisions,

12. నీవు ఈలాగున అడిగినందున నీ మనవి ఆలకించుచున్నాను; బుద్ధి వివేకములు గల హృదయము నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; పూర్వికులలో నీవంటివాడు ఒకడును లేడు, ఇకమీదట నీవంటివాడొకడును ఉండడు.

12. I will do what you asked. I will give you wisdom and understanding that is greater than anyone has had in the past or will have in the future.

13. మరియు నీవు ఐశ్వర్య మును ఘనతను ఇమ్మని అడుగక పోయినను నేను వాటిని కూడ నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; అందువలన నీ దినములన్నిటను రాజులలో నీవంటివాడొకడైనను నుండడు.

13. I will also give you what you did not ask for: riches and honor. During your life no other king will be as great as you.

14. మరియు నీ తండ్రియైన దావీదు నా మార్గములలో నడచి నా కట్టడలను నేను నియమించిన ధర్మమంతటిని గైకొనినట్లు నీవు నడచి వాటిని గైకొనిన యెడల నిన్ను దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతునిగా చేసెదను అనెను.

14. If you follow me and obey my laws and commands, as your father David did, I will also give you a long life.'

15. అంతలో సొలొమోను మేలుకొని అది స్వప్నమని తెలిసికొనెను. పిమ్మట అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి యెహోవా నిబంధనగల మందసము ఎదుట నిలువబడి దహనబలులను సమాధానబలులను అర్పించి తన సేవకులందరికిని విందు చేయించెను.

15. After Solomon woke up from the dream, he went to Jerusalem. He stood before the Ark of the Agreement with the Lord, where he made burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. After that, he gave a feast for all his leaders and officers.

16. తరువాత వేశ్యలైన యిద్దరు స్త్రీలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతని ముందర నిలిచిరి.

16. One day two women who were prostitutes came to Solomon. As they stood before him,

17. వారిలో ఒకతె యిట్లు మనవి చేసెనునా యేలినవాడా చిత్తగించుము, నేనును ఈ స్త్రీయును ఒక యింటిలో నివసించుచున్నాము; దానితో కూడ ఇంటిలో ఉండి నేనొక పిల్లను కంటిని.

17. one of the women said, 'My master, this woman and I live in the same house. I gave birth to a baby while she was there with me.

18. నేను కనిన మూడవ దినమున ఇదియు పిల్లను కనెను; మేమిద్దర మును కూడనున్నాము, మేమిద్దరము తప్ప ఇంటిలో మరి యెవరును లేరు.

18. Three days later this woman also gave birth to a baby. No one else was in the house with us; it was just the two of us.

19. అయితే రాత్రియందు ఇది పడకలో తన పిల్లమీద పడగా అది చచ్చెను.

19. One night this woman rolled over on her baby, and he died.

20. కాబట్టి మధ్య రాత్రి యిది లేచి నీ దాసినైన నేను నిద్రించుచుండగా వచ్చి, నా ప్రక్కలోనుండి నా బిడ్డను తీసికొని తన కౌగిటిలో పెట్టుకొని, చచ్చిన తన పిల్లను నా కౌగిటిలో ఉంచెను.

20. So she took my son from my bed during the night while I was asleep, and she carried him to her bed. Then she put the dead baby in my bed.

21. ఉదయమున నేను లేచి నా పిల్లకు పాలియ్య చూడగా అది చచ్చినదాయెను; తరువాత ఉదయమున నేను పిల్లను నిదానించి చూచినప్పుడు వాడు నా కడుపున పుట్టినవాడు కాడని నేను తెలిసికొంటిని.

21. The next morning when I got up to feed my baby, I saw that he was dead! When I looked at him more closely, I realized he was not my son.'

22. అంతలో రెండవ స్త్రీ అది కాదు;బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది దాని బిడ్డ అని చెప్పగా ఆమెకాదు, చచ్చినదే నీ బిడ్డ బ్రతికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అనెను. ఈ ప్రకారముగా వారు రాజుసముఖమున మనవిచేయగా

22. No!' the other woman cried. 'The living baby is my son, and the dead baby is yours!' But the first woman said, 'No! The dead baby is yours, and the living one is mine!' So the two women argued before the king.

23. రాజు బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ అని యొక తెయు, రెండవది ఆలాగు కాదు చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అని చెప్పుచున్నది;

23. Then King Solomon said, 'One of you says, 'My son is alive and your son is dead.' Then the other one says, 'No! Your son is dead and my son is alive.''

24. గనుక కత్తి తెమ్మని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను. వారు ఒక కత్తి రాజసన్నిధికి తేగా

24. The king sent his servants to get a sword. When they brought it to him,

25. రాజు రెండు భాగములుగా బ్రదికియుండు బిడ్డను చేసి సగము దీనికిని సగము దానికిని చెరిసగము ఇయ్యవలసినదని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

25. he said, 'Cut the living baby into two pieces, and give each woman half.'

26. అంతట బ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డయొక్క తల్లి తన బిడ్డ విషయమై పేగులు తరుగుకొని పోయినదై, రాజునొద్దనా యేలిన వాడా, బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక దానికే యిప్పించుమని మనవిచేయగా, ఆ రెండవ స్త్రీ అది నాదైనను దానిదైనను కాకుండ చెరిసగము చేయుమనెను.

26. The real mother of the living child was full of love for her son. So she said to the king, 'Please, my master, don't kill him! Give the baby to her!' But the other woman said, 'Neither of us will have him. Cut him into two pieces!'

27. అందుకు రాజుబ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక మొదటిదాని కియ్యుడి, దాని తల్లి అదే అని తీర్పు తీర్చెను.

27. Then King Solomon said, 'Don't kill him. Give the baby to the first woman, because she is the real mother.'

28. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును రాజు తీర్చిన తీర్పునుగూర్చి విని న్యాయము విచారించుటయందు రాజు దైవజ్ఞానము నొందినవాడని గ్రహించి అతనికి భయపడిరి.

28. When the people of Israel heard about King Solomon's decision, they respected him very much. They saw he had wisdom from God to make the right decisions.
