1. అంతట ప్రవక్తల శిష్యులు ఎలీషాయొద్దకు వచ్చిఇదిగో నీయొద్ద మాకున్న స్థలము ఇరుకుగా నున్నది;

1. The children of the prophetes saide vnto Elisa: Beholde we pray thee, the place where we dwell with thee is to litle for vs:

2. నీ సెలవైతే మేము యొర్దాను నదికి పోయి తలయొక మ్రాను అచ్చటనుండి తెచ్చుకొని మరియొకచోట నివాసము కట్టుకొందుమని మనవి చేయగా అతడువెళ్లుడని ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

2. Let vs go we pray thee vnto Iordane, & take thence euery man a beame, & build vs a place to dwel in. And he aunswered, Go.

3. ఒకడుదయచేసి నీ దాసులమైన మాతో కూడ నీవు రావలెనని కోరగా అతడునేను వచ్చెదనని చెప్పి

3. And one saide: Be content I pray thee, and come with thy seruauntes. And he aunswered: I wyll come.

4. వారితోకూడ పోయెను; వారు యొర్దానుకు వచ్చి మ్రానులు నరుకుచుండిరి.

4. And so he went with them: And when they came to Iordane, they cut downe wood.

5. ఒకడు దూలము నరుకుచున్నప్పుడు గొడ్డలి ఊడి నీటిలో పడి పోగా వాడు అయ్యో నా యేలినవాడా, అది యెరవుతెచ్చినదని మొఱ్ఱపెట్టెను గనుక

5. But it fortuned, that as one was felling downe of a tree, the axe head fell into the water: And he cryed, and saide, Alas maister, it was lent me.

6. ఆ దైవజనుడు అదెక్కడపడెనని అడిగెను; వాడు అతనికి ఆ స్థలమును చూపింపగా అతడు కొమ్మయొకటి నరికి నీళ్లలో వేయగా గొడ్డలి తేలెను.

6. And the man of God saide: Where fell it? And he shewed him the place: And he cut downe a sticke, and cast it in thyther, and immediatly the iron did swymme.

7. అతడు దానిని పట్టుకొనుమని వానితో చెప్పగా వాడు తన చెయ్యి చాపి దానిని పట్టుకొనెను.

7. Therfore sayde he: Take it vp. And he stretched out his hand, and toke it vp.

8. సిరియారాజు ఇశ్రాయేలుతో యుద్ధముచేయవలెనని కోరి తన సేవకులతో ఆలోచనచేసిఫలానిస్థలమందు మన దండు పేట ఉంచుదమని చెప్పెను.

8. But the king of Syria warred against Israel, and toke counsell with his seruauntes, and sayde: In such and such a place shalbe my campe.

9. అయితే ఆ దైవ జనుడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజునకు వర్తమానము పంపిఫలాని స్థలమునకు నీవు పోవద్దు, అచ్చటికి సిరియనులు వచ్చి దిగి యున్నారని తెలియజేసెను గనుక

9. And the man of God sent vnto the king of Israel, saying: Beware that thou go not ouer to such a place, for there the Syrians are lurkyng.

10. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు దైవజనుడు తనకు తెలిపి హెచ్చరికచేసిన స్థలమునకు పంపి సంగతి తెలిసికొని తనవారిని రక్షించుకొనెను. ఈలాగు మాటిమాటికి జరుగుచు వచ్చినందున

10. Therfore the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God tolde him and warned him of, and saued him selfe from it, not once, nor twyse.

11. సిరియారాజు కల్లోలపడి తన సేవకులను పిలిచిమనలో ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు పక్షము వహించిన వారెవరైనది మాకు తెలియజెప్ప రాదా అని వారి నడుగగా

11. And the heart of the king of Syria was troubled for this thing, and he called for his seruauntes, and said vnto them: Wil ye not shewe me, whiche of our men [betrayght me] to the king of Israel?

12. అతని సేవకులలో ఒకడురాజవైన నా యేలినవాడా, ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు పక్షమున ఎవరును లేరుగాని ఇశ్రాయేలులో నున్న ప్రవక్తయగు ఎలీషా మీ అంతఃపురమందు మీరు అనుకొనిన మాటలు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజునకు తెలియజేయుననెను.

12. And one of his seruauntes sayde, None my lorde O king: But Elisa the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel, yea euen the wordes that thou speakest in thy priuie chamber.

13. అందుకు రాజుమేము మనుష్యులను పంపి అతని తెప్పించునట్లు నీవు వెళ్లి అతడుండు చోటు చూచి రమ్ము అని సెలవియ్యగా అతడు దోతానులో ఉన్నాడని వర్తమానము వచ్చెను.

13. He sayde: Go, and spie where he is, that I may sende and fet him. And one told him, saying: Behold, he is in Dothan.

14. కాబట్టి రాజు అచ్చటికి గుఱ్ఱములను రథము లను గొప్పసైన్యమును పంపెను. వారు రాత్రివేళ వచ్చి నలుదిశలను పట్టణమును చుట్టుకొనగా

14. Therefore sent he thyther horses and charets, and a mightie hoast: and they came by night, and compassed the citie about.

15. దైవజనుడైన అతని పనివాడు పెందలకడ లేచి బయటికి వచ్చి నప్పుడు గుఱ్ఱములును రథములును గల సైన్యము పట్టణ మును చుట్టుకొని యుండుట కనబడెను. అంతట అతని పనివాడు అయ్యో నా యేలినవాడా, మనము ఏమి చేయుదమని ఆ దైవజనునితో అనగా

15. And when the seruaunt of the man of God rose vp early to go out: beholde, there was an hoast rounde about the towne with horses & charets: And his seruaunt sayde vnto him, Alas maister, what shall we do?

16. అతడుభయ పడవద్దు, మన పక్షమున నున్నవారు వారికంటె అధికులై యున్నారని చెప్పి

16. He aunswered, Feare not: for they that be with vs, are mo then they that be with them.

17. యెహోవా, వీడు చూచునట్లు దయచేసి వీని కండ్లను తెరువుమని ఎలీషా ప్రార్థనచేయగా యెహోవా ఆ పనివాని కండ్లను తెరవచేసెను గనుక వాడు ఎలీషాచుట్టును పర్వతము అగ్ని గుఱ్ఱములచేత రథములచేతను నిండియుండుట చూచెను.

17. And Elisa prayed and sayd: Lord I besech thee open his eyes that he may see. And the Lorde opened the eyes of the young man, and he loked: and beholde the mountayne was full of horses, and charets of fire round about Elisa.

18. ఆ దండువారు అతని సమీపించినప్పుడు ఎలీషాఈ జనులను అంధత్వ ముతో మొత్తుమని యెహోవాను వేడుకొనగా ఆయన ఎలీషాచేసిన ప్రార్థనచొప్పున వారిని అంధత్వముతో మొత్తెను.

18. And when they came downe to him, Elisa prayed vnto the Lord, and sayde: Smyte this people I pray thee with blindnesse. And he smote them with blindnesse, according to the worde of Elisa.

19. అప్పుడు ఎలీషాఇది మార్గముకాదు, ఇది పట్టణము కాదు, మీరు నా వెంట వచ్చినయెడల మీరు వెదకువానియొద్దకు మిమ్మును తీసికొని పోదునని వారితో చెప్పి షోమ్రోను పట్టణమునకు వారిని నడిపించెను.

19. And Elisa sayd vnto them: This is not the way, neither is this the towne: folowe me, & I will bring you to the man whom ye seke. But he led them to Samaria.

20. వారు షోమ్రోనులోనికి వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడుయెహోవా, వీరు చూచునట్లు వీరి కండ్లను తెరువుమని ప్రార్థనచేయగా యెహోవా వారి కండ్లను తెరవచేసెను గనుక వారు తాము షోమ్రోను మధ్య ఉన్నామని తెలిసికొనిరి.

20. But it fortuned that when they were come to Samaria, Elisa sayde: Lorde, open their eyes that they may see. And the Lorde opened their eyes, and they sawe, & behold they were in the middes of Samaria.

21. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు వారిని పారజూచినాయనా వీరిని కొట్టుదునా, కొట్టుదునా? అని ఎలీషాను అడుగగా

21. And the king of Israel sayde vnto Elisa when he sawe them: My father, shall I smyte them, shall I smyte them?

22. అతడునీవు వీరిని కొట్టవద్దు; నీ కత్తిచేతను నీ వింటిచేతను నీవు చెరపట్టిన వారినైనను కొట్టుదువా? వారికి భోజనము పెట్టించి వారు తిని త్రాగిన తరువాత వారు తమ యజమానుని యొద్దకు వెళ్లుదురని చెప్పెను.

22. And he aunswered, Thou shalt not smyte them: But smyte those that thou hast taken with thine owne sworde, and with thyne owne bowe: But rather set bread and water before them, that they may eate & drinke, & go to their maister.

23. అతడు వారి కొరకు విస్తారమైన భోజన పదార్థములను సిద్ధపరచగా వారు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొని రాజు సెలవుపొంది తమ యజమానుని యొద్దకు పోయిరి. అప్పటినుండి సిరి యనుల దండువారు ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశములోనికి వచ్చుట మానిపోయెను.

23. And he prepared a great refection for them, and when they had eaten and drunke, he sent them away, & they went to their maister: And so the souldiours of Syria came no more into the lande of Israel.

24. అటుతరువాత సిరియా రాజైన బెన్హదదు తన సైన్య మంతటిని సమకూర్చుకొని వచ్చి షోమ్రోనునకు ముట్టడి వేసెను.

24. After this it chaunced, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered al his hoast and went vp, and besieged Samaria.

25. అప్పుడు షోమ్రోనులో గొప్ప క్షామము కలిగి యుండగా గాడిదయొక్క తల ఎనుబది రూపాయలకును, అరపావు పావురపు రెట్ట అయిదు రూపాయలకును అమ్మ బడెను; వారు అంత కఠినముగా ముట్టడి వేసియుండిరి.

25. But there was a great dearth in Samaria: and beholde, they besieged it, vntill an asses head was sold for fourescore siluer pence, and the fourth part of a cab of doues doung for fiue peeces of siluer.

26. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు పట్టణపు ప్రాకారముమీద సంచారముచేయగా ఒక స్త్రీ రాజును చూచిరాజవైన నా యేలినవాడా, సహాయము చేయుమని కేకలు వేయుట విని

26. And as the king of Israel was goyng vpon the wal, there cryed a woman vnto him, saying: Help me my lord O king.

27. యెహోవా నీకు సహాయము చేయనిది నేనెక్కడ నుండి నీకు సహాయము చేయుదును? కళ్లములోనుండి యైనను ద్రాక్షగానుగలోనుండియైనను దేనినైనను ఇచ్చి సహాయముచేయ వల్లపడదని చెప్పి

27. He sayde: If the Lorde do not succour thee, wherwith can I helpe thee? with the barne, or with the wine presse?

28. నీ విచారమునకు కారణమేమని యడుగగా అదిఈ స్త్రీ నన్ను చూచినేటి ఆహారమునకు నీ బిడ్డను ఇమ్ము రేపు మనము నా బిడ్డను భక్షించుదుము, అని చెప్పినప్పుడు

28. And the king sayde vnto her: What wilt thou? She aunswered: Yonder woman sayd vnto me, Bring thy sonne, that we may eate him to day, and we will eate myne to morowe.

29. మేము నా బిడ్డను వంటచేసికొని తింటివిు. అయితే మరునాటియందు నేను దాని చూచినేటి ఆహారమునకు నీ బిడ్డను ఇమ్మని అడిగితిని గాని అది తన బిడ్డను దాచిపెట్టెనని చెప్పెను.

29. And so we dressed my sonne, and dyd eate him: And I sayde to her the other day, bring thy sonne, that we may eate him: And she hath hyd her sonne.

30. రాజు ఆ స్త్రీ మాటలు విని తన వస్త్రములను చింపుకొని యింక ప్రాకారముమీద నడిచి పోవుచుండగా జనులు అతనిని తేరి చూచినప్పుడు లోపల అతని ఒంటి మీద గోనెపట్ట కనబడెను.

30. And it came to passe, that when the king hearde the wordes of the woman, he rent his clothes, and went vp on the wall, and the people loked, and beholde he had a sackcloth vnder vpon his fleshe.

31. తరువాత రాజుషాపాతు కుమారుడైన ఎలీషాయొక్క తల యీ దినమున అతనిపైన నిలిచియున్నయెడల దేవుడు నాకు గొప్ప అపాయము కలుగజేయునుగాక అనెను.

31. Then he sayd: God do so & more also to me, if the head of Elisa the sonne of Saphat shall stande on him this day.

32. అయితే ఎలీషా తన యింట కూర్చునియుండగా పెద్దలును అతనితోకూడ కూర్చుండి యున్నప్పుడు రాజు ఒక మనిషిని పంపెను. ఆ పంప బడినవాడు ఎలీషాదగ్గరకు రాకమునుపే అతడు ఆ పెద్ద లను చూచిఈ నరహంతకుని కుమారుడు నా తలను కొట్టి వేయుటకు ఒకని పంపియున్నాడని మీకు తెలిసినదా? మీరు కనిపెట్టి యుండి, ఆ దూత రాగా వాడు లోపలికి రాకుండ తలుపుతో వానిని వెలుపలికి తోసి తలుపు మూసి వేయుడి;వాని యజమానుని కాళ్లచప్పుడు వానివెనుక వినబడును గదా అని వారితో చెప్పుచుండగా

32. But Elisa sate in his house (& the elders sate by him) And the king sent a man before him: but yer the messenger came to him, he sayd to the elders: haue ye not seene howe that the sonne of this murtherer hath sent to take away myne head? Be circumspect when the messenger commeth, and shut the doore, and hold him at the doore: Is not the sound of his maisters feete behynde him?

33. ఆ దూత అతనియొద్దకు వచ్చెను. అంతట రాజుఈ కీడు యెహోవా వలననైనది, నేను ఇక ఎందుకు యెహోవాకొరకు కనిపెట్టి యుండవలెననెను.

33. While he yet talked with them: behold, the messenger came downe vnto him, & sayd, Behold, this euyl is of the Lorde: And what more shall I loke for of the Lorde?
