1. రెహబామునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేయుటకై ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును షెకెమునకు వెళ్లగా రెహబాముషెకెమునకు పోయెను.

1. And Rehoboam went to Shechem, for, to Shechem, had all Israel come, to make him king.

2. రాజైన సొలొమోను సమక్షము నుండి పారిపోయి ఐగుప్తులో వాసము చేయుచున్న నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాము అది విని ఐగుప్తునుండి తిరిగిరాగా జనులు అతని పిలిపించిరి.

2. And it came to pass, when Jeroboam son of Nebat, who was in Egypt-whither he had fled from the face of Solomon the king heard of it, then returned Jeroboam out of Egypt.

3. యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును కూడి వచ్చి నీ తండ్రి మా కాడిని బరువుచేసెను;

3. And they sent, and called him, so Jeroboam and all Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying:

4. నీ తండ్రి నియమించిన కఠిన దాస్యమును అతడు మామీద ఉంచిన బరువైన కాడిని నీవు ఇప్పుడు చులుకన చేసినయెడల మేము నిన్ను సేవింతు మని రెహబాముతో మనవిచేయగా

4. Thy father, made our yoke oppressive, now, therefore, lighten thou somewhat the oppressive servitude of thy father and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, and we will serve thee.

5. అతడుమీరు మూడు దినములు తాళి మరల నాయొద్దకు రండని చెప్పెను గనుక జనులు వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

5. And he said unto them, Yet three days, and then return unto me, and the people departed.

6. అప్పుడు రాజైన రెహ బాము తన తండ్రియైన సొలొమోను సజీవియై యుండగా అతని సమక్షమున నిలిచిన పెద్దలను పిలిపించి - యీ జనులకు నేనేమి ప్రత్యుత్తర మియ్యవలెను? మీరు చెప్పు ఆలోచన ఏది అని అడుగగా

6. Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men who had been standing before Solomon his father, while he yet lived, saying, How do, ye, counsel to return answer unto this people?

7. వారునీవు ఈ జనులయెడల దయా దాక్షిణ్యములు చూపి వారితో మంచి మాటలాడినయెడల వారు ఎప్పటికిని నీకు దాసులగుదురని అతనితో చెప్పిరి.

7. And they spake unto him saying, If thou wilt be kind to this people, and please them, and speak unto them kind words, then will they be thy servants, all the days.

8. అయితే అతడు పెద్దలు తనకు చెప్పిన ఆలోచన త్రోసి వేసి, తనతోకూడ పెరిగి తన యెదుటనున్న ¸యౌవనస్థులతో ఆలోచనచేసి

8. But he declined the counsel of the old men, which they gave him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who were standing before him.

9. నీ తండ్రి మామీద ఉంచిన కాడిని చులుకన చేయుమని నన్నడిగిన యీ జనులకు ప్రత్యుత్తరమేమి ఇయ్యవలెనని మీరు యోచింతురో చెప్పుడని వారినడుగగా

9. And he said unto them, What do, ye, counsel that we should return as answer, unto this people, who have spoken unto me saying, Lighten thou somewhat the yoke, which thy father put upon us?

10. అతనితో కూడ పెరిగిన యీ ¸యౌవనస్థులు అతనితో ఇట్లనిరినీ తండ్రి మా కాడిని బరువుచేసెను, నీవు దానిని చులుకన చేయుమని నీతో పలికిన యీ జనులతో నీవు చెప్పవలసినదేమనగానా చిటికెన వ్రేలు నా తండ్రియొక్క నడుముకంటె బరువుగా ఉండును;

10. Then spake with him the young men who had grown up with him, saying, Thus, shalt thou speak unto the people who have spoken unto thee saying, Thy father, made our yoke heavy, Thou, therefore, lighten somewhat our yoke, Thus, shalt thou say unto them, My little finger, is thicker than my father's loins;

11. నా తండ్రి బరువైన కాడి మీమీద మోపెను గాని నేను మీ కాడిని మరింత బరువు చేయుదును; నా తండ్రి మిమ్మును చబుకులతో దండించెను గాని నేను కొరడాలతో మిమ్మును దండించెదనని చెప్పుము.

11. Now, therefore, my father, laid upon you a heavy yoke, but, I, will add to your yoke, My father, chastised you with whips, but, I, with scorpions,

12. మూడవ దినమందు నాయొద్దకు తిరిగి రండని రాజు చెప్పిన ప్రకారము యరొబామును జనులందరును మూడవ దినమందు రెహబామునొద్దకు రాగా

12. So Jeroboam and all the people came unto Rehoboam, on the third day, as the king spake, saying, Return unto me on the third day.

13. రాజైన రెహబాము పెద్దల ఆలోచనను త్రోసివేసి, ¸యౌవనస్థులు చెప్పిన ప్రకారము వారితో మాటలాడి

13. And the king answered them harshly, and King Rehoboam declined the counsel of the old men;

14. వారికి కఠినమైన ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను; ఎట్లనగానా తండ్రి మీ కాడిని బరువుచేసెను, నేను దానిని మరింత బరువు చేయుదును; నా తండ్రి మిమ్మును చబుకులతో దండించెను, నేను మిమ్మును కొరడా లతో దండించెదనని చెప్పెను.

14. and spake unto them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, My father, made your yoke heavy, but, I, will add thereunto, My father, chastised you with whips, But, I, with scorpions.

15. యెహోవా షిలోనీయుడైన అహీయాద్వారా నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాముతో సెలవిచ్చిన తన మాటను స్థిరపరచునట్లు దేవుని నిర్ణయ ప్రకారము జనులు చేసిన మనవి రాజు ఆలకించక పోయెను.

15. So the king hearkened not unto the people, for there had come to be a turn from God, to the end Yahweh might establish his word which he had spoken by means of Ahijah the Shilonite, unto Jeroboam, son of Nebat.

16. రాజు తాము చేసిన మనవి అంగీకరింపక పోవుట చూచి జనులుదావీదులో మాకు భాగము ఏది? యెష్షయి కుమారునియందు మాకు స్వాస్థ్యము లేదు;ఇశ్రా యేలువారలారా, మీ గుడారమునకు పోవుడి; దావీదూ, నీ సంతతివారిని నీవే చూచుకొనుమని రాజునకు ప్రత్యు త్తరమిచ్చి ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును ఎవరి గుడారమునకు వారు వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

16. And, when, all Israel, saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying What portion have, we, in David, or inheritance in the son of Jesse? Every man, to your homes, O Israel! Now, see to thine own house, O David! And all Israel departed to their homes.

17. అయితే యూదాపట్టణములలో కాపురముండు ఇశ్రాయేలువారిమీద రెహబాము ఏలుబడి చేసెను.

17. But, as for the sons of Israel who were dwelling in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

18. రాజైన రెహబాము వెట్టిపనివారిమీద అధికారి యైన హదోరమును పంపగా ఇశ్రాయేలు వారు రాళ్లతో అతని చావ గొట్టిరి గనుక రాజైన రెహబాము యెరూష లేమునకు పారిపోవలెనని త్వరపడి తన రథము ఎక్కెను.

18. Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the tribute, and the sons of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. So, King Rehoboam, hasted to mount his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

19. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఇప్పటికిని దావీదు సంతతివారిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసి నేటివరకును వారికి లోబడకయున్నారు.

19. Thus Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.
