1. రెహబాము రాజ్యము స్థిరపడి తాను బలపరచబడిన తరువాత అతడును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రమును విసర్జించిరి.

1. And when Rehoboam had stablished the kingdom, and made it strong, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him,

2. వారు యెహోవా యెడల ద్రోహము చేసినందున రాజైన రెహబాము యొక్క అయిదవ సంవత్సరమందు ఐగుప్తు రాజైన షీషకు వెయ్యిన్ని రెండువందల రథములతోను అరువదివేల గుఱ్ఱపు రౌతులతోను యెరూషలేముమీదికి వచ్చెను.

2. wherefore the fifth year of king Rehoboam, Sesak the king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem because they had transgressed against the LORD

3. అతనితో కూడ ఐగుప్తునుండి వచ్చిన లూబీయులు సుక్కీయులు కూషీ యులు అనువారు లెక్కకు మించియుండిరి.

3. with twelve hundredth chariots and three score thousand horsemen. And the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt, with them of Libia, and the Succhites and the blackmoors.

4. And they took the strong cities that were in Juda and came to Jerusalem.

5. ప్రవక్తయైన షెమయా రెహబామునొద్దకును, షీషకునకును భయపడి యెరూష లేమునకు వచ్చి కూడియున్న యూదావారి అధిపతుల యొద్దకును వచ్చిమీరు నన్ను విసర్జించితిరి గనుక నేను మిమ్మును షీషకు చేతిలో పడనిచ్చియున్నానని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

5. Then came Semeiah the Prophet to Rehoboam and to the lords of Juda that were gathered to Jerusalem for fear of Sesak, and said to them: thus sayeth the LORD, ye have left me, and therefore will I leave you also in the hands of Sesak.

6. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అధిపతులును రాజును తమ్మును తాము తగ్గించుకొని యెహోవా న్యాయస్థుడని ఒప్పుకొనిరి.

6. Whereupon the lords of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said: the LORD is righteous.

7. వారు తమ్మును తాము తగ్గించుకొనుట యెహోవా చూచెను గనుక యెహోవా వాక్కు షెమయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమైయీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెనువారు తమ్మును తాము తగ్గించుకొనిరి గనుక నేను వారిని నాశనముచేయక, షీషకు ద్వారా నా ఉగ్రతను యెరూషలేముమీద కుమ్మరింపక త్వరలోనే వారికి రక్షణ దయచేసెదను.

7. And when the LORD saw that they submitted themselves, the word of the LORD came to Semeiah saying: they meek themselves, and therefore I will not destroy them. But I will deliver them somewhat, and my wrath shall not fall upon Jerusalem.

8. అయితే నన్ను సేవించుటకును, భూరాజులకు దాసులై యుండుటకును ఎంత భేదమున్నదో వారు తెలిసికొనునట్లు వారు అతనికి దాసులగుదురు.

8. Neverthelater they shall be his servants, to know what difference is between my service and the service of the kingdoms of other lands.

9. ఐగుప్తురాజైన షీషకు యెరూషలేముమీదికి వచ్చి యెహోవా మందిరపు బొక్కసములన్నిటిని రాజనగరులోని బొక్కసములన్నిటిని దోచుకొని, సొలొమోను చేయించిన బంగారపు డాళ్లను తీసికొనిపోయెను.

9. And Sesak king of Egypt came to Jerusalem and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and shortly he took all. And he took also the shields of gold which Salomon made.

10. వాటికి బదులుగా రాజైన రెహబాము ఇత్తడి డాళ్లను చేయించి వాటిని రాజనగరుయొక్క ద్వారమును కాయు సేవకుల యొక్క అధిపతులకు అప్పగించెను.

10. Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and put them in the keeping of the captains of his guard which waited in the gate of the king's house.

11. రాజు యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి ప్రవేశించినప్పుడెల్ల నగరు సేవకులు వచ్చి వాటిని ఎత్తి తరువాత వాటిని మరల గదిలో ఉంచుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. And as oft as the king went to the house of the LORD, the guard went and fetched them, and brought them again unto the guard chamber.

12. అతడు తన్ను తాను తగ్గించుకొనినందున యెహోవా అతని బొత్తిగా నిర్మూలముచేయక, యూదావారు కొంత మట్టుకు మంచితనము ననుసరించుట చూచి తన కోపము అతనిమీదనుండి త్రిప్పుకొనెను.

12. And so because he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, and destroyed not all together. And thereto there were many good things yet in Juda.

13. రాజైన రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునందు స్థిరపడి యేలుబడి చేసెను; రెహబాము ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు నలుబదియొక సంవత్సరముల యీడుగల వాడై యుండెను; తన నామమును అచ్చట ఉంచుటకై ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములన్నిటిలోనుండి యెహోవా కోరుకొనిన పట్టణమగు యెరూషలేమునందు అతడు పదునేడు సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను, అతని తల్లి పేరు నయమా, ఆమె అమ్మో నీయురాలు.

13. And king Rehoboam waxed mighty in Jerusalem and reigned. And Rehoboam was forty one year old when he was made king, and he reigned seventeen year in Jerusalem the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonite.

14. అతడు తన మనస్సు యెహోవాను వెదకుట యందు నిలుపుకొనక చెడుక్రియలు చేసెను.

14. And he did evil: for he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.

15. రెహబాము చేసిన కార్యములన్నిటిని గూర్చియు షెమయా రచించిన గ్రంథమందును దీర్ఘదర్శియైన ఇద్దో రచించిన వంశావళియందును వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

15. The acts of Rehoboam first and last are written in the sayings of Semeiah the Prophet and of Ado the sear of visions, so much as his genealogy and the perpetual war that was between Rehoboam and Jeroboam during their life.

16. రెహ బామునకును యరొబామునకును యుద్ధము యెడతెగక జరిగెను. రెహబాము తన పితరులతో కూడ నిద్రించి దావీదుపట్టణమందు పాతిపెట్టబడెను, అతని కుమారుడైన అబీయా అతనికి బదులుగా రాజాయెను.

16. And Rehoboam laid him to sleep with his fathers and was buried in the city of David, and Abiah his son reigned in his stead.
