1. రాజైన యరొబాము ఏలుబడిలో పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమందు అబీయా యూదావారిమీద ఏలనారం భించెను.

1. And in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah began to reign over Judah.

2. అతడు మూడు సంవత్సరములు యెరూష లేమునందు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లిపేరు మీకాయా, ఆమె గిబియా ఊరివాడైన ఊరియేలు కుమార్తె.

2. He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3. అబీయాకును యరొబామునకును యుద్ధము కలుగగా అబీయా నాలుగు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమ శాలుల సైన్యము ఏర్పరచుకొని యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధముచేసెను; యరొబామును ఎనిమిది లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులను ఏర్పరచుకొని అతనికి ఎదురుగా వారిని యుద్ధమునకు వ్యూహపరచెను.

3. And Abijah set the battle in order with an army of mighty men of war, four hundred thousand chosen men. Jeroboam also set the battle in order against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, mighty men of valor.

4. అప్పుడు అబీయా ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యమందుండు సెమరాయిము కొండమీద నిలిచి ప్రకటించినదేమనగాయరొబామా, ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీరందరును నాకు చెవియొగ్గుడి.

4. And Abijah stood up on mount Zemaraim, in the hills of Ephraim, and said, Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel.

5. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజ్యమును ఎల్లప్పుడును ఏలునట్లుగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా దావీదుతోను అతని సంతతివారితోను భంగము కాజాలని నిబంధన చేసి దానిని వారికిచ్చెనని మీరు తెలిసికొందురు గదా.

5. Should you not know that Jehovah, the God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

6. అయినను దావీదు కుమారుడైన సొలొమోనుకు దాసుడును నెబాతు కుమారుడునగు యరొబాము పనికి మాలిన దుష్టులతో కలిసి లేచి తన యజమానునిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసెను.

6. Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, has risen up and has rebelled against his lord.

7. సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబాము ఇంకను బాల్యదశలోనుండి ధైర్యము లేనివాడై వారిని ఎదిరించుటకు తగిన శక్తిలేకున్నప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు సిద్ధమైరి.

7. And there are gathered to him vain men, the sons of Belial, and have made themselves strong against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, and Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted and could not withstand them.

8. ఇప్పుడు దావీదు సంతతి వారి వశముననున్న యెహోవా రాజ్యముతో మీరు యుద్ధముచేయ తెగించెదమని తలంచుచున్నారు. మీరు గొప్ప సైన్యముగా ఉన్నారు; యరొబాము మీకు దేవతలుగా చేయించిన బంగారు దూడలును మీయొద్ద ఉన్నవి.

8. And now you think to withstand the kingdom of Jehovah in the hands of the sons of David. And you are a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.

9. మీరు అహరోను సంతతివారైన యెహోవా యాజకులను, లేవీయులను త్రోసివేసి, అన్యదేశముల జనులు చేయునట్లు మీకొరకు యాజకులను నియమించు కొంటిరిగదా? ఒక కోడెతోను ఏడు గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లతోను తన్ను ప్రతిష్ఠించుటకైవచ్చు ప్రతివాడు, దైవములు కాని వాటికి యాజకుడగుచున్నాడు.

9. Have you not cast out the priests of Jehovah, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made priests to yourselves like the peoples of the lands? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, he may be a priest of those who are no gods.

10. అయితే యెహోవా మాకు దేవుడైయున్నాడు; మేము ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారము కాము; అహరోను సంతతివారు యెహోవాకు సేవచేయు యాజకులై యున్నారు; లేవీయులు చేయవలసిన పనులను లేవీయులే చేయుచున్నారు.

10. But as for us, Jehovah is our God, and we have not forsaken Him. And the priests who minister to Jehovah are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in the work.

11. వారు ఉదయాస్తమయములయందు యెహోవాకు దహనబలులు అర్పించుచు, సుగంధద్రవ్యములతో ధూపము వేయుచు, పవిత్రమైన బల్లమీద సన్నిధిరొట్టెలు ఉంచుచు, బంగారు దీపస్తంభమును ప్రమిదెలను ప్రతి సాయంత్రము ముట్టించుచు వచ్చుచున్నారు; మేము మా దేవుడైన యెహోవా యేర్పరచిన విధినిబట్టి సమస్తము జరిగించుచున్నాము గాని మీరు ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారైతిరి.

11. And they burn to the Lord every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense, and the showbread on the pure table, and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening. For we keep the charge of Jehovah our God. But you have forsaken Him.

12. ఆలోచించుడి, దేవుడే మాకు తోడై మాకు అధిపతిగానున్నాడు, మీ మీద ఆర్భాటము చేయుటకై బూరలు పట్టుకొని ఊదునట్టి ఆయన యాజకులు మా పక్షమున ఉన్నారు; ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాతో యుద్ధముచేయకుడి, చేసినను మీరు జయమొందరు.

12. And behold, God Himself is with us as Commander, and His priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight against Jehovah, the God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper!

13. యరొబాము వారి వెనుకటి భాగమందు మాటు గాండ్రను కొందరిని ఉంచి, సైన్యము యూదావారికి ముందును మాటుగాండ్ర వారికి వెనుకను ఉండునట్లు చేసెను.

13. But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come around behind them, so that they were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them.

14. యూదావారు తిరిగి చూచి యోధులు తమకు ముందును వెనుకను ఉన్నట్టు తెలిసికొని యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేసిరి, యాజకులును బూరలు ఊదిరి.

14. And Judah turned, and, behold, the battle was before and behind. And they cried to Jehovah, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

15. అప్పుడు యూదావారు ఆర్భటించిరి; యూదావారు ఆర్భటించి నప్పుడు యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును అబీయా యెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువలేకుండునట్లు దేవుడు వారిని మొత్తినందున

15. And the men of Judah shouted. And it happened as the men of Judah shouted, God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు యూదా వారి యెదుటనుండి పారిపోయిరి. దేవుడు వారిని యూదా వారిచేతికి అప్పగించినందున

16. And the sons of Israel fled before Judah. And God delivered them into their hand.

17. అబీయాయును అతని జనులును వారిని ఘోరముగా సంహరించిరి. ఇశ్రా యేలు వారిలో అయిదు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులు హతులైరి.

17. And Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter. And there fell down dead five hundred thousand chosen men of Israel.

18. ఈ ప్రకారము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఆ కాలమందు తగ్గింపబడిరి గాని యూదావారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించిన హేతువుచేత జయ మొందిరి.

18. And the sons of Israel were humbled at that time, and the sons of Judah won because they relied on Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

19. అబీయా యరొబామును తరిమి, బేతేలును దాని గ్రామములను యెషానాను దాని గ్రామములను ఎఫ్రోనును దాని గ్రామములను పట్టుకొనెను.

19. And Abijah pursued Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its villages, and Jeshanah with its villages, and Ephron with its villages.

20. అబీయా బ్రదికిన కాలమున యరొబాము మరల బలము పొందలేదు, యెహోవా అతని మొత్తినందుచేత అతడు మరణ మొందెను.

20. And Jeroboam did not recover strength again in the days of Abijah. And Jehovah struck him and he died.

21. అబీయా వృద్ధినొందెను, అతడు పదునాలుగు మంది భార్యలను వివా హము చేసికొని యిరువది యిద్దరు కుమారులను పదునారుగురు కుమార్తెలను కనెను.

21. And Abijah became mighty, and married fourteen wives, and fathered twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

22. అబీయా చేసిన యితర కార్యములను గూర్చియు, అతని చర్యను గూర్చియు, అతని కాలమున జరిగిన సంగతులను గూర్చియు ప్రవక్తయైన ఇద్దో రచించిన సటీక గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

22. And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the inquiry of the prophet Iddo.
