1. రాజైన యరొబాము ఏలుబడిలో పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమందు అబీయా యూదావారిమీద ఏలనారం భించెను.

1. It was in the eighteenth year of King Yarov'am that Aviyah began his reign over Y'hudah.

2. అతడు మూడు సంవత్సరములు యెరూష లేమునందు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లిపేరు మీకాయా, ఆమె గిబియా ఊరివాడైన ఊరియేలు కుమార్తె.

2. He ruled three years in Yerushalayim; his mother's name was Mikhayahu the daughter of Uri'el from Giv'ah. There was war between Aviyah and Yarov'am.

3. అబీయాకును యరొబామునకును యుద్ధము కలుగగా అబీయా నాలుగు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమ శాలుల సైన్యము ఏర్పరచుకొని యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధముచేసెను; యరొబామును ఎనిమిది లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులను ఏర్పరచుకొని అతనికి ఎదురుగా వారిని యుద్ధమునకు వ్యూహపరచెను.

3. Aviyah joined the battle with an army of valiant soldiers, 400,000 select troops; while Yarov'am took the field against him with 800,000 select troops who were valiant, strong men.

4. అప్పుడు అబీయా ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యమందుండు సెమరాయిము కొండమీద నిలిచి ప్రకటించినదేమనగాయరొబామా, ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీరందరును నాకు చెవియొగ్గుడి.

4. Aviyah, standing on Mount Z'marayim, in the hills of Efrayim, cried, 'Yarov'am and all Isra'el! Listen to me!

5. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజ్యమును ఎల్లప్పుడును ఏలునట్లుగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా దావీదుతోను అతని సంతతివారితోను భంగము కాజాలని నిబంధన చేసి దానిని వారికిచ్చెనని మీరు తెలిసికొందురు గదా.

5. Don't you know that ADONAI, the God of Isra'el, gave rulership over Isra'el to David forever, to him and his descendants, by a covenant of salt [[which is unbreakable]]?

6. అయినను దావీదు కుమారుడైన సొలొమోనుకు దాసుడును నెబాతు కుమారుడునగు యరొబాము పనికి మాలిన దుష్టులతో కలిసి లేచి తన యజమానునిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసెను.

6. Yet Yarov'am the son of N'vat, servant to Shlomo the son of David, rose in rebellion against his lord.

7. సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబాము ఇంకను బాల్యదశలోనుండి ధైర్యము లేనివాడై వారిని ఎదిరించుటకు తగిన శక్తిలేకున్నప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు సిద్ధమైరి.

7. There rallied around him worthless brutes who were too strong for Rechav'am the son of Shlomo to withstand when he was young and inexperienced.

8. ఇప్పుడు దావీదు సంతతి వారి వశముననున్న యెహోవా రాజ్యముతో మీరు యుద్ధముచేయ తెగించెదమని తలంచుచున్నారు. మీరు గొప్ప సైన్యముగా ఉన్నారు; యరొబాము మీకు దేవతలుగా చేయించిన బంగారు దూడలును మీయొద్ద ఉన్నవి.

8. Now you expect to withstand the kingdom of ADONAI in the hands of the descendants of David. Yes, there are a great number of you, and you have with you the gold calves that Yarov'am made as gods for you.

9. మీరు అహరోను సంతతివారైన యెహోవా యాజకులను, లేవీయులను త్రోసివేసి, అన్యదేశముల జనులు చేయునట్లు మీకొరకు యాజకులను నియమించు కొంటిరిగదా? ఒక కోడెతోను ఏడు గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లతోను తన్ను ప్రతిష్ఠించుటకైవచ్చు ప్రతివాడు, దైవములు కాని వాటికి యాజకుడగుచున్నాడు.

9. Yes, you drove out the [cohanim] of ADONAI, the descendants of Aharon, and the [L'vi'im]; and you made yourselves priests as do the peoples in other countries, so that anyone who comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams can become a priest of those non-gods.

10. అయితే యెహోవా మాకు దేవుడైయున్నాడు; మేము ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారము కాము; అహరోను సంతతివారు యెహోవాకు సేవచేయు యాజకులై యున్నారు; లేవీయులు చేయవలసిన పనులను లేవీయులే చేయుచున్నారు.

10. 'But we are different. ADONAI is our God, and we have not abandoned him. We have [cohanim] performing the service for ADONAI, descendants of Aharon. With the [L'vi'im] doing their work,

11. వారు ఉదయాస్తమయములయందు యెహోవాకు దహనబలులు అర్పించుచు, సుగంధద్రవ్యములతో ధూపము వేయుచు, పవిత్రమైన బల్లమీద సన్నిధిరొట్టెలు ఉంచుచు, బంగారు దీపస్తంభమును ప్రమిదెలను ప్రతి సాయంత్రము ముట్టించుచు వచ్చుచున్నారు; మేము మా దేవుడైన యెహోవా యేర్పరచిన విధినిబట్టి సమస్తము జరిగించుచున్నాము గాని మీరు ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారైతిరి.

11. they burn to ADONAI every morning and evening burnt offerings and sweet incense; they arrange the showbread on the pure table, and they prepare the gold [menorah] with its lamps to burn every evening. For we observe the order of ADONAI our God. But you have abandoned him.

12. ఆలోచించుడి, దేవుడే మాకు తోడై మాకు అధిపతిగానున్నాడు, మీ మీద ఆర్భాటము చేయుటకై బూరలు పట్టుకొని ఊదునట్టి ఆయన యాజకులు మా పక్షమున ఉన్నారు; ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాతో యుద్ధముచేయకుడి, చేసినను మీరు జయమొందరు.

12. 'So look here! God is with us, leading us and his [cohanim] with the battle trumpets to sound an alarm against you. People of Isra'el! Don't fight against ADONAI, the God of your ancestors; because you will not succeed.'

13. యరొబాము వారి వెనుకటి భాగమందు మాటు గాండ్రను కొందరిని ఉంచి, సైన్యము యూదావారికి ముందును మాటుగాండ్ర వారికి వెనుకను ఉండునట్లు చేసెను.

13. But Yarov'am prepared to ambush them from behind, so that the main body was ahead of Y'hudah, while the ambush was behind them.

14. యూదావారు తిరిగి చూచి యోధులు తమకు ముందును వెనుకను ఉన్నట్టు తెలిసికొని యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేసిరి, యాజకులును బూరలు ఊదిరి.

14. Thus when Y'hudah looked back, the battle had to be fought in front of them and behind them. They cried to ADONAI, and the [cohanim] sounded the trumpets.

15. అప్పుడు యూదావారు ఆర్భటించిరి; యూదావారు ఆర్భటించి నప్పుడు యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును అబీయా యెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువలేకుండునట్లు దేవుడు వారిని మొత్తినందున

15. Then the men of Y'hudah gave forth a shout, and as the men of Y'hudah shouted, God struck Yarov'am and all Isra'el before Aviyah and Y'hudah.

16. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు యూదా వారి యెదుటనుండి పారిపోయిరి. దేవుడు వారిని యూదా వారిచేతికి అప్పగించినందున

16. The people of Isra'el fled before Y'hudah, and God handed them over to them.

17. అబీయాయును అతని జనులును వారిని ఘోరముగా సంహరించిరి. ఇశ్రా యేలు వారిలో అయిదు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులు హతులైరి.

17. Aviyah and his army inflicted a great slaughter on them- 500,000 of Isra'el's select soldiers fell dead.

18. ఈ ప్రకారము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఆ కాలమందు తగ్గింపబడిరి గాని యూదావారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించిన హేతువుచేత జయ మొందిరి.

18. Thus the people of Isra'el were subdued that time, and the people of Y'hudah won the victory, because they relied on ADONAI the God of their ancestors.

19. అబీయా యరొబామును తరిమి, బేతేలును దాని గ్రామములను యెషానాను దాని గ్రామములను ఎఫ్రోనును దాని గ్రామములను పట్టుకొనెను.

19. Aviyah pursued Yarov'am, taking from him the towns of Beit-El with its villages, Y'shanah with its villages and 'Efrayin with its villages.

20. అబీయా బ్రదికిన కాలమున యరొబాము మరల బలము పొందలేదు, యెహోవా అతని మొత్తినందుచేత అతడు మరణ మొందెను.

20. Yarov'am did not recover his strength during the time of Aviyahu. Finally ADONAI struck him, and he died.

21. అబీయా వృద్ధినొందెను, అతడు పదునాలుగు మంది భార్యలను వివా హము చేసికొని యిరువది యిద్దరు కుమారులను పదునారుగురు కుమార్తెలను కనెను.

21. But Aviyahu grew strong; he married fourteen wives and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

22. అబీయా చేసిన యితర కార్యములను గూర్చియు, అతని చర్యను గూర్చియు, అతని కాలమున జరిగిన సంగతులను గూర్చియు ప్రవక్తయైన ఇద్దో రచించిన సటీక గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.
