1. తరువాత అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోషాపాతు రాజై ఇశ్రాయేలు తన మీదికి రాకుండతన రాజ్యమును బలపరచుకొనెను.

1. And his son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place. And he made himself strong against Israel.

2. అతడు యూదా దేశములోని ప్రాకార పురములన్నిటియందును సైన్యములను ఉంచి, యూదా దేశమందును తన తండ్రియైన ఆసా పట్టుకొనిన ఎఫ్రాయిము పట్టణములయందును కావలి బలములను ఉంచెను.

2. And he put an army in all the fortified cities in Judah, and placed command posts in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim which his father Asa had captured.

3. యెహోవా అతనికి సహాయుడై యుండగా యెహోషాపాతు తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు ప్రారంభదినములలో నడచిన మార్గమందు నడచుచు

3. And Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father David; and he did not seek to the Baals.

4. బయలు దేవతను ఆశ్రయింపక తన తండ్రి దేవుని ఆశ్ర యించుచు, ఇశ్రాయేలువారి చర్యలను వెంబడింపక ఆయన ఆజ్ఞలననుసరించి నడిచెను.

4. For he sought to the God of his father, and he walked in His commands, and not according to the deeds of Israel.

5. కాబట్టి యెహోవా అతనిచేత రాజ్యమును స్థిరపరచెను, యూదావారందరును యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్ను ఇచ్చుచుండిరి, అతనికి ఐశ్వ ర్యమును ఘనతయు మెండుగా కలిగెను.

5. And Jehovah confirmed the kingdom in his hand. And all of Judah gave a present to Jehoshaphat. And he had riches and honor in abundance.

6. యెహోవా మార్గములయందు నడుచుకొనుటకు అతడు తన మనస్సును దృఢపరచుకొనినవాడై ఉన్నత స్థలములను దేవతాస్తంభములను యూదాలోనుండి తీసివేసెను.

6. And his heart was exalted in the ways of Jehovah. And he again removed the high places and the Asherahs out of Judah.

7. తన యేలుబడియందు మూడవ సంవత్సరమున యూదా పట్టణములలో జనులకు ధర్మశాస్త్రమును బోధించుటకై అతడు పెద్దలైన బెన్హయీలును ఓబద్యాను జెకర్యాను నెతనేలును మీకాయాను

7. And in the third year of his reign, he sent for his leaders, for Ben-hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, in order to teach in the cities of Judah.

8. షెమయా నెతన్యా జెబద్యా అశాహేలు షెమిరామోతు యెహోనాతాను అదోనీయా టోబీయా టోబదోనీయా అను లేవీయులను, యాజకులైన ఎలీషామాను యెహోరామును బంపెను.

8. And with them were the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, the Levites. And with them were Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9. వారు యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రగ్రంథమును చేత పుచ్చుకొని యూదావారిమధ్య ప్రకటనచేయుచు, యూదా పట్టణములన్నిటను సంచరించుచు జనులకు బోధించిరి.

9. And they taught in Judah; and with them was the book of the Law of Jehovah. And they went around to all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.

10. యూదా దేశము చుట్టు ఉండు దేశముల రాజ్యములన్నిటి మీదికియెహోవా భయము వచ్చినందున వారు యెహోషా పాతుతో యుద్ధము చేయకుండిరి.

10. And the fear of Jehovah was on all the kingdoms of the lands around Judah; and they did not fight with Jehoshaphat.

11. ఫిలిష్తీయులలో కొందరు యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్నును కానుకలను ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; అరబీయులును అతనికి ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లను ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల మేక పోతులను తెచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. And from the Philistines, they were bringing in a present to Jehoshaphat, and silver as tribute. Also, the Arabians were bringing flocks to him, seven thousand, seven hundred rams; and seven thousand, seven hundred he goats.

12. యెహోషాపాతు అంతకంతకు గొప్పవాడై యూదా దేశమునందు కోటలను సామగ్రిని నిలువచేయు పట్టణములను కట్టించెను.

12. And Jehoshaphat went on to be greater, exceedingly. And he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

13. యూదాదేశపు పట్టణములలో అతనికి బహు ధనము సమకూర్చబడెను. అతని క్రింది పరా క్రమశాలులు యెరూషలేములో కూడియుండిరి.

13. And there was much work for him in the cities of Judah. And the men of war, mighty men of valor, resided in Jerusalem.

14. వీరి పితరుల వంశములచొప్పున వీరి సంఖ్య యెంతనగా, యూదాలో సహస్రాధిపతులైన వారికి ప్రధానుడగు అద్నాయొద్ద మూడు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

14. And these were their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the commanders of thousands, Adnah the chief, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

15. రెండవవాడగు యెహోహానాను అను అధిపతియొద్ద రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబదివేలమంది యుండిరి.

15. And on his hand, Jehohanan the chief, and two hundred and eighty thousand with him.

16. మూడవవాడు జిఖ్రీ కుమారుడై యెహోవాకు తన్నుతాను మనఃపూర్వకముగా సమర్పించుకొనిన అమస్యా; అతనియొద్ద రెండు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

16. And on his hand, Amasiah the son of Zichri, who volunteered himself to Jehovah; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

17. బెన్యామీనీయులలో ఎల్యాదా అను పరాక్రమశాలి యొకడుండెను; వీనియొద్ద వింటిని కేడెమును పట్టుకొనువారు రెండు లక్షలమంది యుండిరి.

17. And of Benjamin, Eliada a mighty man, and two hundred thousand armed men with bow and shield with him.

18. రెండవవాడు యెహోజాబాదు; వీనియొద్ద లక్షయెనుబదివేలమంది యుద్ధసన్నద్ధులుండిరి.

18. And on his hand, Jehozabad; and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready for war.

19. రాజు యూదాయందంతటనుండు ప్రాకారపురములలో ఉంచినవారు గాక వీరు రాజుయొక్క పరివారములో చేరినవారై యుండిరి.

19. These waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities in all Judah.
