1. యెహోషాపాతు తన పితరులతోకూడ నిద్రించితన పితరులచెంతను దావీదు పురమందు పాతిపెట్ట బడెను, అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోరాము అతనికి బదులుగా రాజాయెను.

1. And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David, and Jehoram his son reigned in his steed.

2. యెహోషాపాతు కుమారులైన అజర్యా యెహీయేలు జెకర్యా అజర్యా మిఖాయేలు షెఫట్య అను వారు ఇతనికి సహోదరులు; వీరందరును ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన యెహోషాపాతు కుమారులు.

2. Now, he, had brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat Azariah and Jehiel and Zechariah and Azariah, and Michael and Shephatiah, all these, were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel,

3. వారి తండ్రి వెండి బంగారములను బహుమానములుగా ప్రశస్తవస్తువులనేక ములను యూదా దేశములో ప్రాకారముగల పట్టణములను వారికిచ్చెను; అయితే యెహోరాము జ్యేష్ఠుడు గనుక అతనికి రాజ్యమును ఇచ్చెను.

3. and their father gave them large presents of silver and of gold and of precious things, with cities of defence, in Judah, but, the kingdom, gave he unto Jehoram, for, he, was the firstborn.

4. యెహోరాము తన తండ్రి రాజ్యమును ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు తన్ను స్థిరపరచుకొని, తన సహోదరులనందరిని ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అధిపతులలో కొందరిని హతముచేసెను.

4. But, when Jehoram had arisen over the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren, with the sword, moreover also some of the rulers of Israel.

5. యెహోరాము ఏలనారంభించి నప్పుడు ముప్పది రెండేండ్లవాడు. అతడు యెరూష లేములో ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను.

5. Thirty-two years old, was Jehoram when he began to reign, and, eight years, reigned he in Jerusalem.

6. అతడు అహాబు కుమార్తెను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అహాబు సంతతి వారు నడచిన ప్రకారముగా ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల మార్గమందు నడచెను; అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి ప్రతికూలముగా ప్రవర్తించెను.

6. And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab, for, the daughter of Ahab, had he, to wife, so he wrought wickedness, in the eyes of Yahweh.

7. అయినను యెహోవా తాను దావీదుతో చేసిన నిబంధన నిమిత్తమును, అతనికిని అతని కుమారులకును నిత్యము దీప మిచ్చెదనని చేసిన వాగ్దానము నిమిత్తమును దావీదు సంతతిని నశింపజేయుటకు మనస్సులేక యుండెను.

7. Howbeit Yahweh was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he had solemnised, unto David, and as he had promised to give unto him a lamp, and unto his sons, all the days.

8. అతని దినములలో ఎదోమీయులు తిరుగబడి యూదావారి అధి కారము త్రోసివేసి తమకు ఒకరాజును చేసికొనగా

8. In his days, revolted the Edomites, from under the hand of Judah, and set over themselves a king.

9. యెహోరాము తన చేతిక్రిందనున్న అధి కారులను వెంట బెట్టుకొని, తన రథములన్నిటితో బయలుదేరి రాత్రివేళ లేచి తన్ను చుట్టుకొనిన ఎదోమీయులను రథాధిపతులను హతముచేసెను.

9. So Jehoram passed over, with his captains, and all his chariot, with him, and it came to pass that he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites that were round about unto him, and the chariot-captains.

10. కాగా నేటివరకును జరుగుచున్నట్టు ఎదోమీయులు యూదావారి చేతిక్రింద నుండక తిరుగ బడిరి. యెహోరాము తన పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను విసర్జించినందున ఆ కాలమందు లిబ్నాయును అతని చేతిక్రిందనుండి తిరుగబడెను.

10. So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then, must Libnah needs revolt at the same time, from under his hand, because he had forsaken Yahweh, the God of his fathers.

11. మరియు అతడు యూదా పర్వతములయందు బలిపీఠములను కట్టించి యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులు దేవుని విసర్జించునట్లు చేసెను. యూదావారిని విగ్రహపూజకు లోపరచెను.

11. He too, made high places among the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to be unchaste, and seduced Judah.

12. అంతట ప్రవక్తయైన ఏలీయా యొక పత్రిక వ్రాసి అతనియొద్దకు పంపెనునీ పితరుడగు దావీదునకు దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగానీవు నీ తండ్రియైన యెహోషాపాతు మార్గములందైనను యూదారాజైన ఆసా మార్గములందైనను నడువక

12. Then came there unto him, a writing, from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh, God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa, king of Judah;

13. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల మార్గమందు నడచి అహాబు సంతతివారు చేసిన వ్యభిచారముల చొప్పున యూదాను యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులను వ్యభిచరింపజేసి, నీకంటె యోగ్యులైన నీ తండ్రి సంతతి వారగు నీ సహోదరులను నీవు చంపియున్నావు.

13. but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to be unchaste, after the unchastities of the house of Ahab, moreover also, thine own brethren of the house of thy father who were better than thou, hast thou slain,

14. కాబట్టి గొప్ప తెగులుచేత యెహోవా నీ జనులను నీ పిల్లలను నీ భార్యలను నీ వస్తువాహనములన్నిటిని మొత్తును.

14. lo! Yahweh, is about to plague, with a great plague, thy people, and thy children and thy wives, and all thy possessions;

15. నీవు ఉదరమున వ్యాధి కలిగి మిక్కిలి రోగివై యుందువు; దిన క్రమేణ ఆ వ్యాధిచేత నీ పేగులు పడిపోవును.

15. also, thyself, with sore diseases, with disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels shall fall out, by reason of the disease, in a year added to a year.

16. మరియు యెహోవా యెహోరాముమీదికి ఫిలిష్తీయులను కూషీయుల చేరువనున్న అరబీయులను రేపగా

16. And Yahweh stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and the Arabians, who were under the direction of the Ethiopians;

17. వారు యూదా దేశముమీదికి వచ్చి దానిలో చొరబడి రాజ నగరునందు దొరకిన సమస్త పదార్థములను అతని కుమారులను భార్యలను పట్టుకొనిపోయిరి; అతని కుమారులలో కనిష్ఠుడైన యెహోయాహాజు తప్ప అతనికి ఒక్క కుమారుడైనను విడువబడలేదు.

17. and they came up against Judah, and forced their way into it, and carried off all the possessions that were found belonging to the house of the king, moreover also his sons and his wives, so that there was left him never a son, save only Jehoahaz the youngest of his sons.

18. ఇదియంతయు అయినతరువాత యెహోవా కుదరచాలని వ్యాధిచేత అతనిని ఉదరమున మొత్తినందున

18. And, after all this, Yahweh plagued him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

19. రెండు సంవత్సరములు వ్యాధి బలమగుచు వచ్చి ఆ వ్యాధిచేత అతని పేగులు పడిపోయి బహు వేదన నొందుచు అతడు మరణమాయెను. అతని జనులు అతని పితరులకు చేసిన ఉత్తరక్రియలు అతనికి చేయలేదు.

19. And it came to pass, in a year beyond a year, even when the end of the days of two years had passed, that his bowels fell out by reason of his disease, so that he died, of, malignant disease, and his people made him no burning, like the burning of his fathers.

20. అతడు ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు ముప్పది రెండేండ్లవాడు; యెరూషలేములో ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరములు ఏలి యెవరికిని ఇష్టము లేనివాడై అతడు చనిపోయెను; రాజుల సమాధులలో గాక దావీదు పురమందు వేరుచోట జనులు అతని పాతిపెట్టిరి.

20. Thirty-two years old, was he when he began to reign, and, eight years, reigned he in Jerusalem, and went his way unregretted, and, though they buried him in the city of David, yet, not in the sepulchres of the kings.
