1. యోవాషు ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఏడు సంవత్స రముల యీడుగలవాడై యెరూషలేములో నలువది ఏండ్లు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి బెయేర్షెబా కాపురస్థురాలైన జిబ్యా.

1. Jehoas was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zebiah of Bersabe.

2. యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా బ్రదికిన దినములన్నియు యోవాషు యెహోవా దృష్టికి యథార్థముగా ప్రవర్తించెను.

2. And Jehoas did that pleased the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

3. యెహోయాదా అతనికి యిద్దరు భార్యలను పెండ్లి చేసెను; అతడు కుమారులను కుమార్తెలను కనెను.

3. And Jehoiada gave him two wives, and he begat sons and daughters.

4. అంతట యెహోవా మందిరమును బాగుచేయవలెనని యోవాషునకు తాత్పర్యము పుట్టెను గనుక

4. It chanced after that, that Jehoas was minded to mend the house of the LORD.

5. అతడు యాజకులను లేవీయులను సమకూర్చిమీరు యూదా పట్టణములకు పోయి మీ దేవుని మందిరము బాగు చేయుటకై ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరియొద్దనుండి ధనమును ఏటేట సమకూర్చుచు, ఈ కార్యమును మీరు త్వరపెట్టవలెనని వారికాజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను. వారు దానిని త్వరగా చేయకపోయినందున

5. And upon that he gathered together the priests and the Levites and said to them: go out thorow the cities of Juda and gather of all Israel silver, to strength the house of your God, year by year, and see that ye haste the thing: howbeit the Levites were slack.

6. రాజు ప్రధానయాజకుడగు యెహోయాదాను పిలిచిఆ దుర్మార్గురాలైన అతల్యాకుమారులు దేవుని మందిర మును పాడుచేసి, యెహోవా మందిర సంబంధమైన ప్రతిష్ఠోపకరణముల నన్నిటిని బయలుదేవతపూజకు ఉప యోగించిరి.

6. Then the king called Jehoiada that was the chiefest, and said to him: Why requirest thou not of the Levites to bring in, out of Juda and Jerusalem the sum appointed by Moses the servant of the LORD, and by the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness.

7. సాక్ష్యపు గుడారమును బాగుచేయుటకైయూదాలో నుండియు యెరూషలేములోనుండియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సమాజకులచేత యెహోవా సేవకుడైన మోషే నిర్ణయించిన కానుకను లేవీయులతో నీ వెందుకు చెప్పి తెప్పించలేదని యడిగెను.

7. For wicked Athaliah and her children had broken the house of God, and had thereto bestowed all the dedicate gifts of the house of the LORD, about Baals.

8. కాబట్టి రాజు ఆజ్ఞ చొప్పున వారు ఒక పెట్టెను చేయించి యెహోవా మందిరద్వారము బయట ఉంచిరి.

8. Wherefore at the kings commandment, they made a coffer, and set it at the gate of the house of the LORD:

9. మరియు దేవుని సేవకుడైన మోషే అరణ్యమందు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు నిర్ణ యించిన కానుకను యెహోవాయొద్దకు జనులు తేవలెనని యూదాలోను యెరూషలేములోను వారు చాటించిరి.

9. and made proclamation thorow Juda and Jerusalem to bring in to the LORD the taxation of Moses the servant of God, which he set upon Israel in the wilderness.

10. కాగా అధిపతులందరును జనులందరును సంతోషముగా కానుకలను తీసికొని వచ్చి చాలినంతమట్టుకు పెట్టెలో వేసిరి.

10. And the lords and all the people rejoiced and brought in and cast into the coffer until it was full.

11. లేవీయులు ఆ పెట్టెను రాజు విమర్శించు స్థలము నకు తెచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; అందులో ద్రవ్యము విస్తారముగా నున్నట్టు కనబడినప్పుడెల్ల, రాజుయొక్క ప్రధాన మంత్రియు ప్రధాన యాజకుడు నియమించిన పై విచా రణకర్తయు వచ్చి, పెట్టెలోనున్న ద్రవ్యమును తీసి యథా స్థానమందు దానిని ఉంచుచు వచ్చిరి; వారీచొప్పున పలు మారు చేయుటచేత విస్తారమైన ద్రవ్యము సమకూర్చబడెను.

11. And when the time came that the chest should be brought in by the hands of the Levites at the appointment of the king, when they saw that there was much money: then came the king's scribe and one appointed by the high priest, and poured out that was in the coffer, and then took it and carried it to his place again, and thus they did day by day, and gathered much money.

12. అప్పుడు రాజును యెహోయాదాయును యెహోవా మందిరపు పనిచేయువారికి దానినిచ్చి, యెహోవా మందిరమును బాగుచేయుటకై కాసెవారిని వడ్లవారిని, యెహోవా మందిరమును బలపరచుటకు ఇనుపపని యిత్తడిపని చేయువారిని కూలికి కుదిర్చిరి.

12. And the king and Jehoiada gave it to workmen that wrought upon the house of the LORD, and hired Masons and carpenters to redress the house of the LORD, and so did they artificers in iron and brass, to repair the house of the LORD.

13. ఈలాగున పనివారు పని జరిగించి సంపూర్తి చేసిరి. వారు దేవుని మందిరమును దాని యథాస్థితికి తెచ్చి దాని బలపరచిరి.

13. And the workmen wrought and the work mended thorow their hands: and they made the house of God as it ought to be, and strengthened it.

14. అది సిద్ధమైన తరువాత మిగిలిన ద్రవ్యమును రాజునొద్దకును యెహోయాదా యొద్దకును తీసికొనిరాగా వారు దాని చేత యెహోవా మందిరపు సేవయందు ఉపయోగపడు నట్లును, దహనబలుల నర్పించుటయందు ఉపయోగపడు నట్లును, ఉపకరణములను గరిటెలను వెండి బంగారముల ఉపకరణములను చేయించిరి. యెహోయాదాయున్న యన్నిదినములు యెహోవా మందిరములో దహనబలులు నిత్యమును అర్పింపబడెను.

14. And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada, and therewith were made vessels for the house of the LORD: even vessels to minister withal and to serve for burntofferings as ladies and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burntofferings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.

15. యెహోయాదా దినములు గడచిన వృద్ధుడై చని పోయెను; అతడు చనిపోయినప్పుడు నూట ముప్పది ఏండ్ల వాడు.

15. And Jehoiada waxed old and full of year and died. And hundredth and thirty year old was he when he died.

16. అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో దేవుని దృష్టికిని తన యింటివారి దృష్టికిని మంచివాడై ప్రవర్తించెను గనుక జనులు దావీదు పట్టణమందు రాజులదగ్గర అతని పాతి పెట్టిరి.

16. And they buried him in the city of David among the kings because he had done good in Israel, and on God and on his house.

17. యెహోయాదాచని పోయిన తరువాత యూదా అధిపతులు వచ్చి రాజునకు నమస్కరింపగా రాజు వారి మాటకు సమ్మతించెను.

17. And after the death of Jehoiada, came the lords of Juda and made obeisance to the king. And then he hearkened unto them.

18. జనులు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా మందిరమును విడచి, దేవతాస్తంభములకును విగ్రహములకును పూజచేసిరి; వారు, చేసిన యీ యప రాధము నిమిత్తము యూదావారిమీదికిని యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులమీదికిని కోపము వచ్చెను.

18. And so they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and Images. And then came there wrath upon Juda and Jerusalem, for this their trespasses' sake.

19. తన వైపునకు వారిని మళ్లించుటకై యెహోవా వారియొద్దకు ప్రవక్త లను పంపగా ఆ ప్రవక్తలు వారిమీద సాక్ష్యము పలికిరిగాని వారు చెవియొగ్గక యుండిరి.

19. Notwithstanding yet God sent Prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD. And they testified unto them. But they would not hear.

20. అప్పుడు దేవుని ఆత్మ యాజకుడగు యెహోయాదా కుమారుడైన జెకర్యామీదికి రాగా అతడు జనులయెదుట నిలువబడిమీరెందుకు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలను మీరుచున్నారు? మీరు వర్ధిల్లరు; మీరు యెహోవాను విసర్జించితిరి గనుక ఆయన మిమ్మును విసర్జించియున్నాడని దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు అనెను.

20. And the spirit of God came upon Zachariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stepped up above the people and said to them. Thus sayeth God: why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD? ye shall therefore not prosper, but as ye have forsaken him, so shall he forsake you.

21. అందుకు వారతనిమీద కుట్రచేసి, రాజు మాటనుబట్టి యెహోవా మందిరపు ఆవరణములోపల రాళ్లు రువి్వ అతని చావగొట్టిరి.

21. Whereupon they conspired against him and stoned him with stones, at the commandment of the king: even in the court of the house of the LORD.

22. ఈ ప్రకారము రాజైన యోవాషు జెకర్యా తండ్రియైన యెహోయాదా తనకు చేసిన ఉప కారమును మరచినవాడై అతని కుమారుని చంపించెను; అతడు చనిపోవునప్పుడుయెహోవా దీని దృష్టించి దీనిని విచారణలోనికి తెచ్చునుగాక యనెను.

22. And so Jehoas the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said: the LORD see and require a reckoning.

23. ఆ సంవత్సరాంతమందు సిరియా సైన్యము యోవాషు మీదికి వచ్చెను; వారు యూదాదేశముమీదికిని యెరూష లేముమీదికిని వచ్చి, శేషములేకుండ జనుల అధిపతులనందరిని హతముచేసి, తాము పట్టుకొనిన కొల్లసొమ్మంతయు దమస్కు రాజునొద్దకు పంపిరి.

23. And when the year was out, the host of the Sirians came against him: and they came to Juda and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the lords of the people from among the people and sent all the spoil of them unto the king to Damasco.

24. సిరియనులు చిన్నదండుతో వచ్చినను యూదావారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను విసర్జించినందుకై యెహోవా వారి చేతికి అతివిస్తార మైన ఆ సైన్యమును అప్పగింపగా యోవాషుకు శిక్ష కలిగెను.

24. And though the army of Siria came with a small company of men, yet the LORD delivered a very great host into their hands, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. And thereto they served Jehoas according.

25. వారు యోవాషును విడచిపోయినప్పుడు అతడు మిక్కిలి రోగియై యుండెను. అప్పుడు యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా కుమారుల ప్రాణహత్యదోషము నిమిత్తము అతని సేవకులు అతనిమీద కుట్రచేసి, అతడు పడకమీద ఉండగా అతని చంపిరి. అతడు చనిపోయిన తరు వాత జనులు దావీదు పట్టణమందు అతని పాతి పెట్టిరి గాని రాజుల సమాధులలో అతని పాతిపెట్టలేదు.

25. And as soon as they were departed from him, though they left him in great diseases: yet his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the children of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed. And when he was dead, they buried him in the city of David: but not in the sepulchers of the kings.

26. అతనిమీద కుట్రచేసినవారు అమ్మోనీయురాలైన షిమాతు కుమారుడగు జాబాదు, మోయాబురాలైన షిమీతు కుమారుడగు యెహోజాబాదు అనువారు.

26. And these are they that conspired against him: Zabad the son of Samaath an Ammonite and Jehosabad the son of Simrith a Moabite.

27. అతని కుమారులను గూర్చియు, అతనిమీద చెప్పబడిన అనేకమైన దేవోక్తులను గూర్చియు, అతడు దేవుని మందిరమును బాగుచేయు టను గూర్చియు రాజుల సటీక గ్రంథములో వ్రాయబడి యున్నది. అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన అమజ్యా రాజాయెను.

27. And his sons and the sum of the tax that came to him, and the foundation of the house of God, are written in the story of the book of kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
