1. అమజ్యా యేలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఇరువది యయి దేండ్లవాడై యిరువది తొమ్మిది సంవత్సరములు యెరూష లేములో ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థురాలు, ఆమె పేరు యెహో యద్దాను.

1. Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mothers name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

2. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి యథార్థముగా ప్రవర్తించెనుగాని పూర్ణహృదయముతో ఆయనను అనుసరింపలేదు.

2. And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

3. రాజ్యము తనకు స్థిర మైనప్పుడు అతడు రాజైన తన తండ్రిని చంపిన రాజసేవకు లను చంపించెను.

3. Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established unto him, that he slew his servants which had killed the king his father.

4. అయితేతండ్రులు పిల్లలకొరకును పిల్లలు తండ్రులకొరకును చావకూడదు, ప్రతి మనిషి తన పాపముకొరకు తానే చావవలెనని మోషే గ్రంథ మందలి ధర్మశాస్త్రమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్న యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞనుబట్టి అతడు వారి పిల్లలను చంపక మానెను.

4. But he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.

5. అమజ్యా యూదావారినందరిని సమకూర్చి యూదా దేశమంతటను బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశమంతటను వారివారి పితరుల యిండ్లనుబట్టి సహస్రాధిపతులను శతాధిపతులను నియమించెను. అతడు ఇరువది సంవత్సరములు మొదలుకొని అంతకు పై ప్రాయముగల వారిని లెక్కింపగా, ఈటెను డాళ్లను పట్టుకొని యుద్ధమునకు పోదగినట్టి యోధులు మూడులక్షలమంది కనబడిరి.

5. Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and ordered them according to their fathers houses, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, even all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and upward, and found them three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

6. మరియు అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలోనుండి లక్షమంది పరాక్రమశాలులను రెండువందల మణుగుల వెండికి కుదిర్చెను.

6. He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.

7. దైవజనుడైన యొకడు అతనియొద్దకు వచ్చిరాజా, ఇశ్రాయేలువారి సైన్యమును నీతోకూడ తీసికొనిపోవద్దు, యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలువారగు ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులలో ఎవరికిని తోడుగా ఉండడు.

7. But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, {cf15i to wit}, with all the children of Ephraim.

8. ఆలాగు పోవలెనని నీకున్నయెడల పొమ్ము, యుద్ధము బలముగా చేసినను దేవుడు నీ శత్రువు ఎదుట నిన్ను కూల్చును; నిలువబెట్టుటయు పడవేయుటయు దేవునివశమేగదా అని ప్రకటింపగా

8. But if thou wilt go, do {cf15i valiantly}, be strong for the battle: God shall cast thee down before the enemy; for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

9. అమజ్యా దైవజనుని చూచిఇశ్రాయేలువారి సైన్యమునకు నేనిచ్చిన రెండువందల మణుగుల వెండికి ఏమి చేసెదమని అడిగి నందుకుదీనికంటె మరి యధికముగా యెహోవా నీకు ఇయ్యగలడని ఆ దైవజనుడు ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

9. And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.

10. అప్పుడు అమజ్యా ఎఫ్రాయిములోనుండి తనయొద్దకు వచ్చిన సైన్యమును వేరుపరచిమీ యిండ్లకు తిరిగి వెళ్లుడని వారికి సెలవిచ్చెను; అందుకు వారి కోపము యూదా వారి మీద బహుగా రగులుకొనెను, వారు ఉగ్రులై తమ యిండ్లకు తిరిగి పోయిరి.

10. Then Amaziah separated them, {cf15i to wit}, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in fierce anger.

11. అంతట అమజ్యా ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని తన జనులతో కూడ బయలుదేరి ఉప్పుపల్లపు స్థలమునకు పోయి శేయీరువారిలో పదివేలమందిని హతము చేసెను.

11. And Amaziah took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.

12. ప్రాణముతోనున్న మరి పదివేలమందిని యూదావారు చెరపట్టుకొని, వారిని ఒక పేటుమీదికి తీసికొనిపోయి ఆ పేటుమీదనుండి వారిని పడవేయగా వారు తుత్తునియలైపోయిరి.

12. And {cf15i other} ten thousand did the children of Judah carry away alive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces.

13. అయితే తనతోకూడ యుద్ధమునకు రావద్దని అమజ్యా తిరిగి పంపివేసిన సైనికులు షోమ్రోను మొదలుకొని బేత్‌హోరోనువరకు ఉన్న యూదాపట్టణములమీద పడివారిలో మూడు వేలమందిని హతముచేసి విస్తార మైన కొల్లసొమ్ము పట్టుకొని పోయిరి.

13. But the men of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Bethhoron, and smote of them three thousand, and took much spoil.

14. అమజ్యా ఎదోమీయులను ఓడించి తిరిగి వచ్చిన తరువాత అతడు శేయీరువారి దేవతలను తీసికొనివచ్చి తనకు దేవతలుగా నిలిపి వాటికి నమస్కరించి ధూపము వేసెను.

14. Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.

15. అందుకొరకు యెహోవా కోపము అమజ్యా మీద రగులుకొనెను. ఆయన అతనియొద్దకు ప్రవక్తను ఒకని పంపగా అతడునీ చేతిలోనుండి తమ జనులను విడిపింప శక్తిలేని దేవతలయొద్ద నీవెందుకు విచారణ చేయుదువని అమజ్యాతో ననెను.

15. Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thine hand?

16. అతడు అమజ్యాతో మాటలాడుచుండగా రాజు అతని చూచినీవు రాజుయొక్క ఆలోచనకర్తలలో ఒకడవైతివా? ఊరకొనుము;నేను నిన్ను చంపనేల అని చెప్పగా ఆ ప్రవక్తనీవు ఈలాగున చేసి నా ఆలోచనను అంగీకరింపకపోవుట చూచి దేవుడు నిన్ను నశింపజేయనుద్దేశించి యున్నాడని నాకు తెలియునని చెప్పి యూరకొనెను.

16. And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that {cf15i the king} said unto him, Have we made thee of the kings counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

17. అప్పుడు యూదారాజైన అమజ్యా ఆలోచనచేసికొనిరమ్ము మనము ఒకరి ముఖమును ఒకరము చూచుకొంద మని యెహూకు పుట్టిన యెహోయాహాజు కుమారుడును ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునైన యెహోయాషునొద్దకు వర్తమానము పంపెను.

17. Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

18. కాగా ఇశ్రాయేలురాజైన యెహోయాషు యూదారాజైన అమజ్యాకు ఈలాగు తిరుగ వర్తమానము పంపెనునీ కుమార్తెను నా కుమారునికిమ్మని లెబానోనులో నున్న ముండ్లచెట్టు లెబానోనులోనున్న దేవదారువృక్ష మునకు వర్తమానము పంపగా లెబానోనులో సంచరించు ఒక దుష్టమృగము ఆ ముండ్లచెట్టును త్రొక్కివేసెను.

18. And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon; and trode down the thistle.

19. నేను ఎదోమీయులను ఓడించితిని గదా యని నీవను కొనుచున్నావు; నీ హృదయము నీవు గర్వించి ప్రగల్భము లాడునట్లు చేయుచున్నది; యింటియొద్ద నిలిచి యుండుము; నీవు నా జోలికి వచ్చి కీడు తెచ్చుకొనుట యెందుకు? నీవును నీతోకూడ యూదావారును అపజయ మొందుట యెందుకు?

19. Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten Edom; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to {cf15i thy} hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

20. జనులు ఎదోమీయుల దేవతల యొద్ద విచారణ చేయుచు వచ్చిరి గనుక వారి శత్రువుల చేతికి వారు అప్పగింపబడునట్లు దేవుని ప్రేరణవలన అమజ్యా ఆ వర్తమానమును అంగీకరింపక పోయెను.

20. But Amaziah would not hear; for it was of God, that he might deliver them into the hand {cf15i of their enemies}, because they had sought after the gods of Edom.

21. ఇశ్రా యేలు రాజైన యెహోయాషు బయలుదేరగా యూదా దేశమునకు చేరిన బేత్షెమెషులో అతడును యూదా రాజైన అమజ్యాయును ఒకరి ముఖము ఒకరు చూచు కొనిరి.

21. So Joash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

22. యూదావారు ఇశ్రాయేలువారియెదుట నిలువ లేక ఓడిపోగా ప్రతివాడును తన తన గుడారమునకు పారిపోయెను.

22. And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.

23. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజైన యెహో యాషు యెహోయాహాజునకు పుట్టిన యోవాషు కుమారు డును యూదారాజునైన అమజ్యాను బేత్షెమెషులో పట్టుకొని యెరూషలేమునకు తీసికొని వచ్చి, యెరూషలేము ప్రాకారమును ఎఫ్రాయిము గుమ్మము మొదలుకొని మూలగుమ్మమువరకు నాలుగువందల మూరల పొడుగున పడ గొట్టెను.

23. And Joash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Bethshemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

24. అతడు దేవుని మందిరములో ఓబేదెదోము నొద్దనున్న వెండియంతయు బంగారమంతయు ఉపకర ణములన్నియు రాజు నగరునందున్న సొమ్మును కుదవపెట్ట బడినవారిని తీసికొని షోమ్రోనునకు తిరిగి వెళ్లెను.

24. And {cf15i he took} all the go1d and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obededom, and the treasures of the kings house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

25. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజును యెహోయాహాజు కుమారుడు నైన యెహోయాషు మరణమైన తరువాత యూదా రాజును యోవాషు కుమారుడునైన అమజ్యా పదునయిదు సంవత్సరములు బ్రదికెను.

25. And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

26. అమజ్యా చేసిన యితర కార్యములు యూదా ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుల గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడియున్నవి.

26. Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?

27. అమజ్యా యెహోవాను అనుస రించుట మానివేసిన తరువాత జనులు యెరూషలేములో అతనిమీద కుట్రచేయగా అతడు లాకీషునకు పారి పోయెను.

27. Now from the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

28. అయితే వారు అతని వెనుక లాకీషునకు మను ష్యులను పంపి అతని అక్కడ చంపి, గుఱ్ఱములమీద అతని శవము ఎక్కించి తీసికొనివచ్చి యూదాపట్టణమందు అతని తండ్రులయొద్ద అతని పాతిపెట్టిరి.

28. And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
