1. ఆ దినమందు వారు మోషేగ్రంథము జనులకు చదివి వినిపించగా అందులో అమ్మోనీయులు గాని మోయాబీయులు గాని దేవునియొక్క సమాజమును ఎన్నటికి చేరకూడదు.

1. In that day they read in the Book of Moses in the ears of the people; and it was found written in it, that the Ammonites and Moabites should not enter into the congregation of God forever;

2. వారు అన్నపానములు తీసికొని ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు ఎదురుపడక వారిని శపించుమని బిలామును ప్రోత్రాహపరచిరి. అయినను మన దేవుడు ఆ శాపమును ఆశీర్వాదముగా మార్చెనని వ్రాయబడినట్టు కనబడెను.

2. because they met not the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them, but our God turned the curse into a blessing.

3. కాగా జనులు ధర్మశాస్త్రమును వినినప్పుడు మిశ్ర జనసమూహమును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలోనుండి వెలివేసిరి.

3. And it came to pass, when they heard the law, that they were separated, [even] every alien in Israel.

4. ఇంతకుముందు మన దేవుని మందిరపు గదిమీద నిర్ణయింపబడిన యాజకుడగు ఎల్యాషీబు టోబీయాతో బంధు త్వము కలుగజేసికొని

4. And before this time Eliashib the priest dwelt in the treasury of the house of our God, connected with Tobiah;

5. నైవేద్యమును సాంబ్రాణిని పాత్రలను గింజలలో పదియవ భాగమును క్రొత్త ద్రాక్షా రసమును లేవీయులకును గాయకులకును ద్వారపాలకుల కును ఏర్పడిన నూనెను యాజకులకు తేవలసిన ప్రతిష్ఠిత వస్తువులను పూర్వము ఉంచు స్థలమునొద్ద, అతనికి ఒకగొప్ప గదిని సిద్ధముచేసి యుండెను.

5. and he made himself a great treasury, and there they were formerly in the habit of bestowing the offerings, and the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithe of the grain, and the wine, and the oil, the ordered portion of the Levites, and singers, and porters; and the firstfruits of the priests.

6. ఆ సమయములో నేను యెరూషలేములో ఉండలేదు. ఎందుకనగా బబులోను దేశపు రాజైన అర్త హషస్త యేలుబడియందు ముప్పది రెండవ సంవత్సరమున నేను రాజును దర్శించి కొన్నిదినము లైన తరువాత రాజునొద్ద సెలవుపుచ్చుకొని

6. But in all this [time] I was not in Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I came to the king, and after a certain time I made my request of the king;

7. యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి ఎల్యాషీబు దేవుని మందిరములో టోబీ యాకు ఒక గది యేర్పరచి చేసిన కీడంతయు తెలిసికొని

7. and I came to Jerusalem, and I understood the evil which Eliashib had done in the case of Tobiah, in making for him a treasury in the court of the house of God.

8. బహుగా దుఃఖపడి ఆ గదిలోనుండి టోబీయాయొక్క సామగ్రియంతయు అవతల పారవేసి, గదులన్నియు శుభ్రముచేయుడని ఆజ్ఞాపింపగా వారాలాగు చేసిరి.

8. And it appeared very evil to me; so I cast forth all the furniture of the house of Tobiah from the treasury.

9. పిమ్మట మందిరపు పాత్రలను నైవేద్య పదార్థములను సాంబ్రాణిని నేనక్కడికి మరల తెప్పించితిని.

9. And I gave orders, and they purified the treasuries; and I restored the vessels into the house of God, [and] the offerings, and the frankincense.

10. మరియు లేవీయులకు రావలసిన పాళ్లు వారికి అందక పోవుటచేత సేవచేయు లేవీయులును గాయకులును తమ పొలములకు పారిపోయిరని తెలిసికొని

10. And I understood that the portion of the Levites had not been given; and they had fled everyone to his field, the Levites and the singers doing the work.

11. నేను అధిపతులతో పోరాడిదేవుని మందిరమును ఎందుకు లక్ష్యపెట్టలేదని అడిగి, వారిని సమకూర్చి తమ స్థలములలో ఉంచితిని.

11. And I strove with the commanders, and said, Why has the house of God been abandoned? And I assembled them, and set them in their place.

12. అటుతరువాత యూదులందరును ధాన్య ద్రాక్షారసతైలములలో పదియవ భాగమును ఖజానాలోనికి తెచ్చిరి.

12. And all Judah brought a tithe of the wheat and the wine and the oil into the treasuries,

13. నమ్మకముగల మనుష్యులని పేరు పొందిన షెలెమ్యా అను యాజకుని సాదోకు అను శాస్త్రిని లేవీయులలో పెదాయాను ఖజానామీద నేను కాపరులగా నియమించితిని; వారి చేతిక్రింద మత్తన్యా కుమారుడైన జక్కూరునకు పుట్టిన హానాను నియమింపబడెను; మరియు తమ సహో దరులకు ఆహారము పంచిపెట్టు పని వారికి నియమింప బడెను.

13. to the charge of Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah of the Levites. And next to them [was] Hanan the son of Zaccur, son of Matthaniah; for they were accounted faithful. [It was] their office to distribute to their brothers.

14. నా దేవా, ఈ విషయములో నన్ను జ్ఞాపకముంచుకొని, నా దేవుని మందిరమునకు దాని ఆచారముల జరుగుబాటునకును నేను చేసిన ఉపకారములను మరువకుండుము.

14. Remember me, O God, in this, and let not my kindness be forgotten which I have wrought in [regard to] the house of the Lord God.

15. ఆ దినములలో యూదులలో కొందరు విశ్రాంతి దినమున ద్రాక్షతొట్లను త్రొక్కుటయు, గింజలుతొట్లలో పోయుటయు, గాడిదలమీద బరువులు మోపుటయు, ద్రాక్షారసమును ద్రాక్షపండ్లను అంజూరపు పండ్లను నానా విధములైన బరువులను విశ్రాంతిదినమున యెరూషలేములోనికి తీసికొని వచ్చుటయు చూచి, యీ ఆహారవస్తువులను ఆ దినమున అమ్మినవారిని గద్దించితిని.

15. In those days I saw in Judah [men] treading wine-presses on the Sabbath, and carrying sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, figs, and every [kind of] burden, and bringing them into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.

16. తూరుదేశస్థులును కాపురముండి, యెరూషలేములోను విశ్రాంతిదినములో యూదులకును చేపలు మొదలైన నానా విధ వస్తువులను తెచ్చి అమ్ముచుండిరి.

16. And I testified in the day of their sale. Also there dwelt in it [men] bringing fish, and selling every [kind of] merchandise to the children of Judah and in Jerusalem on the Sabbath.

17. అంతట యూదుల ప్రధానులను నేనెదురాడి విశ్రాంతిదినమును నిర్లక్ష్యపెట్టి మీ రెందుకు ఈ దుష్కార్యమును చేయుదురు?

17. And I strove with the free children of Judah, and said to them, What [is] this evil thing which you do, and profane the Sabbath day?

18. మీ పితరులును ఇట్లు చేసి దేవునియొద్దనుండి మనమీదికిని యీ పట్టణ స్థులమీదికిని కీడు రప్పింపలేదా? అయితే మీరు విశ్రాంతిదినమును నిర్లక్ష్యపెట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీదికి కోపము మరి అధికముగా రప్పించుచున్నారని చెప్పితిని.

18. Did not your fathers [commit] this same [trespass,] and our God brought upon them and upon us and upon this city all these evils? And do you bring additional wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath?

19. మరియు విశ్రాంతిదినమునకు ముందు చీకటి పడినప్పుడు యెరూషలేము గుమ్మములను మూసివేయవలెననియు, విశ్రాంతిదినము గడచువరకు వాటిని తియ్యకూడదనియు నేనాజ్ఞాపించితిని మరియు విశ్రాంతిదినమున ఏ బరువైనను లోపలికి రాకుండ గుమ్మములయొద్ద నా పనివారిలో కొందరిని కావలి యుంచితిని.

19. And it came to pass, when the gates were set up in Jerusalem, before the Sabbath, that I spoke, and they shut the gates; and I gave orders that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath. And I set [some] of my servants at the gates, that none should bring [in] burdens on the Sabbath day.

20. వర్తకులును నానావిధములైన వస్తువులను అమ్మువారును ఒకటి రెండు మారులు యెరూష లేము అవతల బసచేసికొనగా

20. So all [the merchants] lodged, and carried on traffic outside of Jerusalem once or twice.

21. నేను వారిని గద్దించి వారితో ఇట్లంటినిమీరు గోడచాటున ఎందుకు బసచేసి కొంటిరి? మీరు ఇంకొకసారి ఈలాగు చేసినయెడల మిమ్మును పట్టుకొందునని చెప్పితిని; అప్పటినుండి విశ్రాంతి దినమున వారు మరి రాలేదు.

21. Then I testified against them, and said to them, Why do you lodge in front of the wall? If you do so again, I will stretch out my hand upon you. From that time they came not on the Sabbath.

22. అప్పుడు తమ్మును తాము పవిత్రపరచుకొనవలెననియు, విశ్రాంతి దినమును ఆచరించుటకు వచ్చి గుమ్మములను కాచుకొనవలెననియు లేవీయు లకు నేను ఆజ్ఞాపించితిని. నా దేవా, యిందును గూర్చియు నన్ను జ్ఞాపకముంచుకొని నీ కృపాతిశయము చొప్పున నన్ను రక్షించుము.

22. And I told the Levites who were purifying themselves, and came and kept the gates, that they should sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me, O God, for these things, and spare me according to the abundance of Your mercy.

23. ఆ దినములలో అష్డోదు అమ్మోను మోయాబు సంబంధు లైన స్త్రీలను వివాహము చేసికొనిన కొందరు యూదులు నాకు కనబడిరి.

23. And in those days I saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, [and] of Moab.

24. వారి కుమారులలో సగము మంది అష్డోదు భాష మాటలాడువారు. వారు ఆ యా భాషలు మాటలాడువారు గాని యూదుల భాష వారిలో ఎవరికిని రాదు.

24. And their children spoke half in the language of Ashdod, and did not know how to speak in the Jewish language.

25. అంతట నేను వారితో వాదించి వారిని శపించి కొందరిని కొట్టి వారి తలవెండ్రుకలను పెరికివేసిమీరు వారి కుమారులకు మీ కుమార్తెలను ఇయ్యకయు, మీ కుమా రులకైనను మీకైనను వారి కుమార్తెలను పుచ్చుకొనకయు ఉండవలెనని వారిచేత దేవుని పేరట ప్రమాణము చేయించి

25. And I strove with them and cursed them; and I struck some of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, [saying,] You shall not give your daughters to their sons, and you shall not take of their daughters to your sons.

26. ఇట్టి కార్యములు జరిగించి ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల రాజైన సొలొమోను పాపము చేయలేదా? అనేక జనములలో అతనివంటి రాజు లేకపోయినను, అతడు తన దేవునిచేత ప్రేమింపబడినవాడై ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరిమీద రాజుగా నియమింపబడినను, అన్యస్త్రీలు అతనిచేత సహా పాపము చేయించలేదా?

26. Did not Solomon king of Israel sin thus? Yet there was no king like him among many nations, and he was beloved of God, and God made him king over all Israel; yet strange women turned him aside.

27. కాగా ఇంత గొప్పకీడు చేయునట్లును, మన దేవునికి విరోధముగా పాపము చేయు నట్లును అన్యస్త్రీలను వివాహము చేసికొనిన మీవంటివారి మాటలను మేము ఆలకింపవచ్చునా? అని అడిగితిని.

27. So we will not hearken to you to do all this evil, to break covenant with our God, to marry strange wives.

28. ప్రధాన యాజకుడును ఎల్యాషీబు కుమారుడునైన యోయాదా కుమారులలో ఒకడు హోరోనీయుడైన సన్బల్లటునకు అల్లుడాయెను. దానినిబట్టి నేను అతని నాయొద్దనుండి తరిమితిని.

28. And Elishub the high priest, [one] of the sons of Joiada, son-in-law of Sanballat the Horonite, I chased away from me.

29. నా దేవా, వారు యాజక ధర్మమును, యాజకధర్మపు నిబంధనను, లేవీయుల నిబంధ నను అపవిత్రపరచిరి గనుక వారిని జ్ఞాపకముంచకొనుము.

29. Remember them, O God, for their [false] connection with the priesthood, and [the breaking] the covenant of the priesthood, and [for defiling] the Levites.

30. ఈలాగున వారు ఏ పరదేశులలోను కలియకుండ వారిని పవిత్రపరచి, ప్రతి యాజకుడును ప్రతి లేవీయుడును విధి ప్రకారముగా సేవచేయునట్లు నియమించితిని.

30. So I purged them from all foreign connection, and established courses for the priests and the Levites, [every] man according to his work.

31. మరియు కావలసి వచ్చినప్పుడెల్ల కట్టెల అర్పణను ప్రథమ ఫలములను తీసికొని వచ్చునట్లుగా నేను నియమించితిని. నా దేవా, మేలుకై నన్ను జ్ఞాపకముంచుకొనుము.

31. And the offering of the wood-bearers [was] at certain set times, and in the [times of the] firstfruits. Remember me, O our God, for good.
