1. నీవు మకరమును గాలముతో బయటికి లాగగలవా?దాని నాలుకకు త్రాడువేసి లాగగలవా?

1. 'Look, any hope [[of capturing him]] is futile- one would fall prostrate at the very sight of him.

2. నీవు దాని ముక్కుగుండ సూత్రము వేయగలవా? దాని దవడకు గాలము ఎక్కింపగలవా?

3. అది నీతో విన్నపములు చేయునా? మృదువైన మాటలు నీతో పలుకునా?

7. దాని ఒంటినిండ ఇనుప శూలములు గుచ్చగలవా? దాని తలనిండ చేప అలుగులు గుచ్చగలవా?

7. 'His pride is his rows of scales, tightly sealed together-

8. దానిమీద నీ చెయ్యి వేసి చూడుము దానితో కలుగు పోరు నీవు జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనిన యెడల నీవు మరల ఆలాగున చేయకుందువు.

8. one is so close to the next that no air can come between them;

9. దాని చూచినప్పుడు మనుష్యులు దానిని వశపరచు కొందుమన్న ఆశ విడిచెదరు దాని పొడ చూచిన మాత్రముచేతనే యెవరికైనను గుండెలు అవిసిపోవును గదా.

10. దాని రేపుటకైనను తెగింపగల శూరుడు లేడు. అట్లుండగా నా యెదుట నిలువగలవాడెవడు?

11. From his mouth go fiery torches, and sparks come flying out.

12. దాని అవయవములను గూర్చియైనను దాని మహాబల మునుగూర్చియైనను దాని చక్కని తీరునుగూర్చి యైనను పలుకక మౌనముగా నుండను.

12. His nostrils belch steam like a caldron boiling on the fire.

13. ఎవడైన దాని పై కవచమును లాగివేయగలడా? దాని రెండు దవడల నడిమికి ఎవడైన రాగలడా?

13. His breath sets coals ablaze; flames pour from his mouth.

14. దాని ముఖద్వారములను తెరవగలవాడెవడు? దాని పళ్లచుట్టు భయకంపములు కలవు

14. 'Strength resides in his neck, and dismay dances ahead of him [[as he goes]].

15. దాని గట్టిపొలుసులు దానికి అతిశయాస్పదము ఎవరును తీయలేని ముద్రచేత అవి సంతనచేయబడి యున్నవి.

15. The layers of his flesh stick together; they are firm on him, immovable.

16. అవి ఒకదానితో ఒకటి హత్తుకొని యున్నవి. వాటి మధ్యకు గాలి యేమాత్రమును జొరనేరదు.

16. His heart is as hard as a stone, yes, hard as a lower millstone.

17. ఒకదానితో ఒకటి అతకబడి యున్నవి భేదింప శక్యము కాకుండ అవి యొకదానితో నొకటి కలిసికొని యున్నవి.

17. When he rears himself up, the gods are afraid, beside themselves in despair.

18. అది తుమ్మగా వెలుగు ప్రకాశించును దాని కన్నులు ఉదయకాలపు కనురెప్పలవలె నున్నవి

18. 'If a sword touches him, it won't stick; neither will a spear, or a dart, or a lance.

19. దాని నోటనుండి జ్వాలలు బయలుదేరును అగ్ని కణములు దానినుండి లేచును.

19. He regards iron as straw and bronze as rotten wood.

20. ఉడుకుచున్న కాగులోనుండి, జమ్ముమంటమీద కాగు చున్న బానలోనుండి పొగ లేచునట్లు దాని నాసికారంధ్రములలోనుండి లేచును.

20. An arrow can't make him flee; for him, slingstones are so much chaff.

21. దాని ఊపిరి నిప్పులను రాజబెట్టును దాని నోటనుండి జ్వాలలు బయలుదేరును

21. Clubs count as hay, and he laughs at a quivering javelin.

22. దాని మెడ బలమునకు స్థానము భయము దానియెదుట తాండవమాడుచుండును

22. His belly is as sharp as fragments of pottery, so he moves across the mud like a threshing-sledge.

23. దాని ప్రక్కలమీద మాంసము దళముగా ఉన్నది అది దాని ఒంటిని గట్టిగా అంటియున్నది అది ఊడి రాదు.

23. 'He makes the depths seethe like a pot, he makes the sea [[boil]] like a perfume kettle.

24. దాని గుండె రాతివలె గట్టిగా నున్నది అది తిరుగటి క్రింది దిమ్మంత కఠినము.

24. He leaves a shining wake behind him, making the deep seem to have white hair.

25. అది లేచునప్పుడు బలిష్ఠులు భయపడుదురు అధిక భయముచేత వారు మైమరతురు.

25. 'On earth there is nothing like him, a creature without fear.

26. దాని చంపుటకై ఒకడు ఖడ్గము దూయుట వ్యర్థమే ఈటెలైనను బాణములైనను పంట్రకోలలైనను అక్క రకు రావు.

26. He looks straight at all high things. He is king over all proud beasts.'
