1. జ్ఞానముగల కుమారుడు తండ్రిని సంతోషపరచును బుద్ధిలేని కుమారుడు తన తల్లికి దుఃఖము పుట్టించును.

1. The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son {is} the heaviness of his mother.

2. భక్తిహీనుల ధనము వారికి లాభకరము కాదు నీతి మరణమునుండి రక్షించును.

2. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

3. యెహోవా నీతిమంతుని ఆకలిగొననియ్యడు భక్తిహీనుని ఆశను భంగముచేయును.

3. The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

4. బద్ధకముగా పనిచేయువాడు దరిద్రుడగును శ్రద్ధగలవాడు ఐశ్వర్యవంతుడగును.

4. He becometh poor that dealeth {with} a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5. వేసవికాలమున కూర్చువాడు బుద్ధిగల కుమారుడు కోతకాలమందు నిద్రించువాడు సిగ్గుపరచు కుమారుడు.

5. He that gathereth in summer {is} a wise son: {but} he that sleepeth in harvest {is} a son that causeth shame.

6. నీతిమంతుని తలమీదికి ఆశీర్వాదములు వచ్చును బలాత్కారము భక్తిహీనుని నోరు మూసివేయును.

6. Blessings {are} upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7. నీతిమంతుని జ్ఞాపకముచేసికొనుట ఆశీర్వాదకరమగును భక్తిహీనుల పేరు అసహ్యత పుట్టించును

7. The memory of the just {is} blessed: but the name of the wicked shall perish.

8. జ్ఞానచిత్తుడు ఉపదేశము నంగీకరించును పనికిమాలిన వదరుబోతు నశించును.

8. The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

9. యథార్థముగా ప్రవర్తించువాడు నిర్భయముగా ప్రవర్తించును. కుటిలవర్తనుడు బయలుపడును.

9. He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10. కనుసైగ చేయువాడు వ్యధ పుట్టించును పనికిమాలిన వదరుబోతు నశించును.

10. He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

11. నీతిమంతుని నోరు జీవపు ఊట భక్తిహీనుల నోరు బలాత్కారము మరుగుపరచును.

11. The mouth of a righteous {man is} a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

12. పగ కలహమును రేపును ప్రేమ దోషములన్నిటిని కప్పును.

12. Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

13. వివేకుని పెదవులయందు జ్ఞానము కనబడును బుద్ధిహీనుని వీపునకు బెత్తమే తగును.

13. In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod {is} for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14. జ్ఞానులు జ్ఞానము సమకూర్చుకొందురు మూఢుల నోరు అప్పుడే నాశనముచేయును.

14. Wise {men} lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish {is} near destruction.

15. ధనవంతుని ఆస్తి వానికి ఆశ్రయపట్టణము దరిద్రుని పేదరికము వానికి నాశనకరము.

15. The rich man's wealth {is} his strong city: the destruction of the poor {is} their poverty.

16. నీతిమంతుని కష్టార్జితము జీవదాయకము భక్తిహీనునికి కలుగు వచ్చుబడి పాపము పుట్టించును.

16. The labor of the righteous {tendeth} to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

17. ఉపదేశము నంగీకరించువాడు జీవమార్గములో ఉన్నాడు గద్దింపునకు లోబడనివాడు త్రోవ తప్పును.

17. He {is in} the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

18. అంతరంగమున పగ ఉంచుకొనువాడు అబద్ధికుడు కొండెము ప్రచురము చేయువాడు బుద్ధిహీనుడు.

18. He that hideth hatred {with} lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, {is} a fool.

19. విస్తారమైన మాటలలో దోషముండక మానదు తన పెదవులను మూసికొనువాడు బుద్ధిమంతుడు.

19. In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that restraineth his lips {is} wise.

20. నీతిమంతుని నాలుక ప్రశస్తమైన వెండివంటిది భక్తిహీనుల ఆలోచన పనికిమాలినది.

20. The tongue of the just {is as} choice silver: the heart of the wicked {is} little worth.

21. నీతిమంతుని పెదవులు అనేకులకు ఉపదేశించును బుద్ధి లేకపోవుట చేత మూఢులు చనిపోవుదురు.

21. The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

22. యెహోవా ఆశీర్వాదము ఐశ్వర్యమిచ్చును నరుల కష్టముచేత ఆ యాశీర్వాదము ఎక్కువ కాదు.

22. The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

23. చెడుపనులు చేయుట బుద్ధిహీనునికి ఆటగా నున్నది వివేకికి జ్ఞానపరిశ్రమ చేయుట అట్టిదే.

23. {It is} as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

24. భక్తిహీనుడు దేనికి భయపడునో అదే వానిమీదికి వచ్చును నీతిమంతులు ఆశించునది వారికి దొరుకును.

24. The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25. సుడిగాలి వీచగా భక్తిహీనుడు లేకపోవును. నీతిమంతుడు నిత్యము నిలుచు కట్టడమువలె ఉన్నాడు.

25. As the whirlwind passeth, so {is} the wicked no {more}: but the righteous {is} an everlasting foundation.

26. సోమరి తనను పని పెట్టువారికి పండ్లకు పులుసువంటివాడు కండ్లకు పొగవంటివాడు.

26. As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so {is} the sluggard to them that send him.

27. యెహోవాయందు భయభక్తులు కలిగియుండుట దీర్ఘాయువునకు కారణము భక్తిహీనుల ఆయుస్సు తక్కువై పోవును.

27. The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28. నీతిమంతుల ఆశ సంతోషము పుట్టించును. భక్తిహీనుల ఆశ భంగమై పోవును.

28. The hope of the righteous {shall be} gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29. యథార్థవంతునికి యెహోవా యేర్పాటు ఆశ్రయదుర్గము పాపముచేయువారికి అది నాశనకరము.

29. The way of the LORD {is} strength to the upright: but destruction {shall be} to the workers of iniquity.

30. నీతిమంతుడు ఎన్నడును కదలింపబడడు భక్తిహీనులు దేశములో నివసింపరు.

30. The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

31. నీతిమంతుని నోరు జ్ఞానోపదేశమును పలుకును మూర్ఖపు మాటలు పలుకు నాలుక పెరికివేయబడును.

31. The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

32. నీతిమంతుని పెదవులు ఉపయుక్తములైన సంగతులు పలుకును భక్తిహీనుల నోట మూర్ఖపు మాటలు వచ్చును.

32. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked {speaketh} frowardness.
