1. రేపటి దినమునుగూర్చి అతిశయపడకుము ఏ దినమున ఏది సంభవించునో అది నీకు తెలియదు.
యాకోబు 4:13-14

1. Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

2. నీ నోరు కాదు అన్యుడే, నీ పెదవులు కాదు పరులే నిన్ను పొగడదగును.

2. Let another man praise thee, and not thy own mouth; a stranger, and not thy own lips.

3. రాయి బరువు ఇసుక భారము మూఢుని కోపము ఆ రెంటికంటె బరువు.

3. A stone [is] heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath [is] heavier than both.

4. క్రోధము క్రూరమైనది కోపము వరదవలె పొర్లునది. రోషము ఎదుట ఎవడు నిలువగలడు?

4. Wrath [is] cruel, and anger [is] outrageous; but who [is] able to stand before envy?

5. లోలోపల ప్రేమించుటకంటె బహిరంగముగా గద్దించుట మేలు

5. Open rebuke [is] better than secret love.

6. మేలును కోరి స్నేహితుడు గాయములు చేయును పగవాడు లెక్కలేని ముద్దులుపెట్టును.

6. Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful.

7. కడుపు నిండినవాడు తేనెపట్టునైనను త్రొక్కి వేయును. ఆకలిగొనినవానికి చేదువస్తువైనను తియ్యగా నుండును.

7. The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

8. తన యిల్లు విడిచి తిరుగువాడు గూడు విడిచి తిరుగు పక్షితో సమానుడు.

8. As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so [is] a man that wandereth from his place.

9. తైలమును అత్తరును హృదయమును సంతోషపరచునట్లు చెలికాని హృదయములోనుండి వచ్చు మధురమైన మాటలు హృదయమును సంతోషపరచును.

9. Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so [doth] the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.

10. నీ స్నేహితునినైనను నీ తండ్రి స్నేహితునైనను విడిచి పెట్టకుము నీకు అపద కలిగిన దినమందు నీ సహోదరుని యింటికి వెళ్లకుము దూరములోనున్న సహోదరునికంటె దగ్గరనున్న పొరుగువాడు వాసి,

10. Thy own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: [for] better [is] a neighbour [that is] near than a brother far off.

11. నా కుమారుడా, జ్ఞానమును సంపాదించి నా హృద యమును సంతోషపరచుము. అప్పుడు నన్ను నిందించువారితో నేను ధైర్యముగా మాటలాడుదును.

11. My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

12. బుద్ధిమంతుడు అపాయము వచ్చుట చూచి దాగును జ్ఞానములేనివారు యోచింపక ఆపదలో పడుదురు.

12. A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; [but] the simple pass on, [and] are punished.

13. ఎదుటివానికొరకు పూటబడినవాని వస్త్రము పుచ్చు కొనుము పరులకొరకు పూటబడినవానివలన కుదువపెట్టించుము.

13. Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for adulteress.

14. వేకువనే లేచి గొప్ప శబ్దముతో తన స్నేహితుని దీవించువాని దీవెన వానికి శాపముగా ఎంచ బడును.

14. He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.

15. ముసురు దినమున ఎడతెగక కారు నీళ్లును గయ్యాళియైన భార్యయు సమానము

15. A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

16. దానిని ఆపజూచువాడు గాలిని అపజూచువాని తోను తన కుడిచేత నూనె పట్టుకొనువానితోను సమానుడు.

16. Whoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, [which] betrayeth [itself].

17. ఇనుముచేత ఇనుము పదునగును అట్లు ఒకడు తన చెలికానికి వివేకము పుట్టించును.

17. Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

18. అంజూరపు చెట్టును పెంచువాడు దాని ఫలము తినును తన యజమానుని మన్నించువాడు ఘనతనొందును.

18. He that keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit of it: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.

19. నీటిలో ముఖమునకు ముఖము కనబడునట్లు ఒకని మనస్సునకు మరియొకని మనస్సు కనబడును.

19. As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.

20. పాతాళమునకును అగాధ కూపమునకును తృప్తి కానే రదు ఆలాగున నరుల దృష్టి తృప్తికానేరదు.

20. Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

21. మూసచేత వెండిని కొలిమి చేత బంగారును తాను పొందిన కీర్తిచేత నరుని పరిశోధింపవచ్చును.

21. [As] the refining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise.

22. మూఢుని రోటిలోని గోధుమలలో వేసి రోకట దంచినను వాని మూఢత వాని వదలిపోదు.

22. Though thou shouldest crush a fool in a mortar among grain with a pestle, [yet] his foolishness will not depart from him.

23. నీ పశువుల స్థితి జాగ్రత్తగా తెలిసికొనుము నీ మందలయందు మనస్సు ఉంచుము.

23. Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [and] look well to thy herds.

24. ధనము శాశ్వతము కాదు కిరీటము తరతరములు ఉండునా?

24. For riches [are] not for ever: and doth the crown [endure] to every generation?

25. ఎండిన గడ్డి వామివేయబడెను పచ్చిక కనబడు చున్నది కొండగడ్డి యేరబడియున్నది

25. The plant appeareth, and the tender grass showeth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.

26. నీ వస్త్రములకొరకు గొఱ్ఱెపిల్లలున్నవి ఒక చేని క్రయధనమునకు పొట్టేళ్లు సరిపోవును

26. The lambs [are] for thy clothing, and the goats [are] the price of the field.

27. నీ ఆహారమునకు నీ యింటివారి ఆహారమునకు నీ పనికత్తెల జీవనమునకు మేకపాలు సమృద్ధియగును.

27. And [thou shalt have] goats ' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and [for] maintenance for thy maidens.
