1. కుమారులారా, తండ్రి యుపదేశము వినుడి మీరు వివేకమునొందునట్లు ఆలకించుడి

1. The proverbs of Shlomo the son of David, king of Isra'el,

2. నేను మీకు సదుపదేశము చేసెదను నా బోధను త్రోసివేయకుడి.

2. are for learning about wisdom and discipline; for understanding words expressing deep insight;

3. నా తండ్రికి నేను కుమారుడుగా నుంటిని నా తల్లి దృష్టికి నేను సుకుమారుడనైన యేక కుమారుడనైయుంటిని.

3. for gaining an intelligently disciplined life, doing what is right, just and fair;

4. ఆయన నాకు బోధించుచు నాతో ఇట్లనెను నీ హృదయము పట్టుదలతో నా మాటలను పట్టు కొననిమ్ము నా ఆజ్ఞలను గైకొనినయెడల నీవు బ్రతుకుదువు.

4. for endowing with caution those who don't think and the young person with knowledge and discretion.

5. జ్ఞానము సంపాదించుకొనుము బుద్ధి సంపాదించుకొనుము నా నోటిమాటలను మరువకుము. వాటినుండి తొలగిపోకుము.

5. Someone who is already wise will hear and learn still more; someone who already understands will gain the ability to counsel well;

6. జ్ఞానమును విడువక యుండినయెడల అది నిన్ను కాపాడును దాని ప్రేమించినయెడల అది నిన్ను రక్షించును.

6. he will understand proverbs, obscure expressions, the sayings and riddles of the wise.

7. జ్ఞానము సంపాదించుకొనుటయే జ్ఞానమునకు ముఖ్యాంశము. నీ సంపాదన అంతయు ఇచ్చి బుద్ధి సంపాదించు కొనుము.

7. The fear of ADONAI is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

8. దాని గొప్ప చేసినయెడల అది నిన్ను హెచ్చించును. దాని కౌగిలించినయెడల అది నీకు ఘనతను తెచ్చును.

8. My son, heed the discipline of your father, and do not abandon the teaching of your mother;

9. అది నీ తలకు అందమైన మాలిక కట్టును ప్రకాశమానమైన కిరీటమును నీకు దయచేయును.

9. they will be a garland to grace your head, a medal of honor for your neck.

10. నా కుమారుడా, నీవు ఆలకించి నా మాటల నంగీక రించినయెడల నీవు దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతుడవగుదువు.

10. My son, if sinners entice you, don't go along with them.

11. జ్ఞానమార్గమును నేను నీకు బోధించియున్నాను యథార్థమార్గములో నిన్ను నడిపించియున్నాను.

11. Suppose they say, "Come with us: we'll ambush somebody and kill him, we'll waylay some harmless soul, just for fun;

12. నీవు నడచునప్పుడు నీ అడుగు ఇరుకున పడదు. నీవు పరుగెత్తునప్పుడు నీ పాదము తొట్రిల్లదు.

12. we'll swallow him alive, like Sh'ol, whole, like those who descend to the pit;

13. ఉపదేశమును విడిచిపెట్టక దాని గట్టిగా పట్టుకొనుము అది నీకు జీవము గనుక దాని పొందియుండుము

13. we'll find everything he has of value, we'll fill our homes with loot!

14. భక్తిహీనుల త్రోవను చేరకుము దుష్టుల మార్గమున నడువకుము.

14. Throw in your lot with us; we'll share a common purse"-

15. దానియందు ప్రవేశింపక తప్పించుకొని తిరుగుము. దానినుండి తొలగి సాగిపొమ్ము.

15. my son, don't go along with them, don't set foot on their path;

16. అట్టివారు కీడుచేయనిది నిద్రింపరు ఎదుటివారిని పడద్రోయనిది వారికి నిద్రరాదు.

16. Their feet run to evil, they rush to shed blood.

17. కీడుచేత దొరికినదానిని వారు భుజింతురు బలాత్కారముచేత దొరికిన ద్రాక్షారసమును త్రాగు దురు

17. For in vain is the net baited if any bird can see it;

18. పట్టపగలగువరకు వేకువ వెలుగు తేజరిల్లునట్లు నీతిమంతుల మార్గము అంతకంతకు తేజరిల్లును,

18. rather, they are ambushing themselves to shed their own blood, waylaying themselves.

19. భక్తిహీనుల మార్గము గాఢాంధకారమయము తాము దేనిమీద పడునది వారికి తెలియదు.

19. So are the ways of all greedy for gain- it takes the lives of those who get it.

20. నా కుమారుడా, నా మాటలను ఆలకింపుము నా వాక్యములకు నీ చెవి యొగ్గుము.

20. Wisdom calls aloud in the open air and raises her voice in the public places;

21. నీ కన్నుల యెదుటనుండి వాటిని తొలగిపోనియ్య కుము నీ హృదయమందు వాటిని భద్రముచేసికొనుము.

21. she calls out at streetcorners and speaks out at entrances to city gates:

22. దొరికినవారికి అవి జీవమును వారి సర్వశరీరమునకు ఆరోగ్యమును ఇచ్చును.

22. "How long, you whose lives have no purpose, will you love thoughtless living? How long will scorners find pleasure in mocking? How long will fools hate knowledge?

23. నీ హృదయములోనుండి జీవధారలు బయలుదేరును కాబట్టి అన్నిటికంటె ముఖ్యముగా నీ హృదయమును భద్రముగా కాపాడుకొనుము

23. Repent when I reprove- I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make my words known to you.

24. మూర్ఖపు మాటలు నోటికి రానియ్యకుము పెదవులనుండి కుటిలమైన మాటలు రానియ్యకుము.

24. Because you refused when I called, and no one paid attention when I put out my hand,

25. నీ కన్నులు ఇటు అటు చూడక సరిగాను నీ కనురెప్పలు నీ ముందర సూటిగాను చూడవలెను.

25. but instead you neglected my counsel and would not accept my reproof;

26. నీవు నడచు మార్గమును సరాళము చేయుము అప్పుడు నీ మార్గములన్నియు స్థిరములగును.

26. I, in turn, will laugh at your distress, and mock when terror comes over you-

27. నీవు కుడితట్టుకైనను ఎడమతట్టుకైనను తిరుగకుము నీ పాదమును కీడునకు దూరముగా తొలగించు కొనుము.

27. yes, when terror overtakes you like a storm and your disaster approaches like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble assail you.
