1. నా కుమారుడా, నీ చెలికానికొరకు పూటపడిన యెడల పరునిచేతిలో నీవు నీ చేయి వేసినయెడల

1. My son, if you have become surety to your neighbor, given your hand in pledge to another,

2. నీ నోటి మాటలవలన నీవు చిక్కుబడియున్నావు నీ నోటి మాటలవలన పట్టబడియున్నావు

2. You have been snared by the utterance of your lips, caught by the words of your mouth;

3. నా కుమారుడా, నీ చెలికానిచేత చిక్కుబడితివి. నీవు త్వరపడి వెళ్లి విడిచిపెట్టుమని నీ చెలికానిని బలవంతము చేయుము.

3. So do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor's power: Go, hurry, stir up your neighbor!

4. ఈలాగు చేసి తప్పించుకొనుము నీ కన్నులకు నిద్రయైనను నీ కనురెప్పలకు కునుకుపాటైనను రానియ్యకుము.

4. Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids;

5. వేటకాని చేతినుండి లేడి తప్పించుకొనునట్లును ఎరుకువాని చేతినుండి పక్షి తప్పించుకొనునట్లును తప్పించుకొనుము.

5. Free yourself as a gazelle from the snare, or as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

6. సోమరీ, చీమలయొద్దకు వెళ్లుము వాటి నడతలు కనిపెట్టి జ్ఞానము తెచ్చుకొనుము.

6. Go to the ant, O sluggard, study her ways and learn wisdom;

7. వాటికి న్యాయాధిపతి లేకున్నను పై విచారణకర్త లేకున్నను అధిపతి లేకున్నను

7. For though she has no chief, no commander or ruler,

8. అవి వేసవికాలమందు ఆహారము సిద్ధపరచుకొనును కోతకాలమందు ధాన్యము కూర్చుకొనును.

8. She procures her food in the summer, stores up her provisions in the harvest.

9. సోమరీ, ఎందాక నీవు పండుకొనియుందువు? ఎప్పుడు నిద్రలేచెదవు?

9. How long, O sluggard, will you rest? when will you rise from your sleep?

10. ఇక కొంచెము నిద్రించెదనని కొంచెము కునికెదనని కొంచెముసేపు చేతులు ముడుచుకొని పరుండెదనని నీవనుచుందువు

10. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to rest--

11. అందుచేత దోపిడిగాడు వచ్చునట్లు దారిద్ర్యము నీయొద్దకు వచ్చును. ఆయుధధారుడు వచ్చునట్లు లేమి నీయొద్దకు వచ్చును.

11. Then will poverty come upon you like a highway man, and want like an armed man.

12. కుటిలమైన మాటలు పలుకువాడు పనికిమాలినవాడును దుష్టుడునై యున్నాడు

12. A scoundrel, a villain, is he who deals in crooked talk.

13. వాడు కన్ను గీటుచు కాళ్లతో సైగచేయును వ్రేళ్లతో గురుతులు చూపును.

13. He winks his eyes, shuffles his feet, makes signs with his fingers;

14. వాని హృదయము అతిమూర్ఖ స్వభావముగలది వాడెల్లప్పుడు కీడు కల్పించుచు జగడములు పుట్టించును.

14. He has perversity in his heart, is always plotting evil, sows discord.

15. కాబట్టి ఆపద వానిమీదికి హఠాత్తుగా వచ్చును వాడు తిరుగలేకుండ ఆ క్షణమందే నలుగగొట్టబడును.

15. Therefore suddenly ruin comes upon him; in an instant he is crushed beyond cure.

16. యెహోవాకు అసహ్యములైనవి ఆరు గలవు ఏడును ఆయనకు హేయములు

16. There are six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to him;

17. అవేవనగా, అహంకారదృష్టియు కల్లలాడు నాలుకయు నిరపరాధులను చంపు చేతులును

17. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;

18. దుర్యోచనలు యోచించు హృదయమును కీడు చేయుటకు త్వరపడి పరుగులెత్తు పాదములును

18. A heart that plots wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil,

19. లేనివాటిని పలుకు అబద్ధసాక్షియు అన్నదమ్ములలో జగడములు పుట్టించువాడును.

19. The false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.

20. నా కుమారుడా, నీ తండ్రి ఆజ్ఞను గైకొనుము నీ తల్లి ఉపదేశమును త్రోసివేయకుము.

20. Observe, my son, your father's bidding, and reject not your mother's teaching;

21. వాటిని ఎల్లప్పుడు నీ హృదయమునందు ధరించు కొనుము నీ మెడచుట్టు వాటిని కట్టుకొనుము.

21. Keep them fastened over your heart always, put them around your neck;

22. నీవు త్రోవను వెళ్లునప్పుడు అది నిన్ను నడిపించును నీవు పండుకొనునప్పుడు అది నిన్ను కాపాడును. నీవు మేలుకొనునప్పుడు అది నీతో ముచ్చటించును.

22. When you lie down she will watch over you, and when you wake, she will share your concerns; wherever you turn, she will guide you.

23. ఆజ్ఞ దీపముగాను ఉపదేశము వెలుగుగాను ఉండును. శిక్షార్థమైన గద్దింపులు జీవమార్గములు.

23. For the bidding is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and a way to life are the reproofs of discipline;

24. చెడు స్త్రీయొద్దకు పోకుండను పరస్త్రీ పలుకు ఇచ్చకపు మాటలకు లోబడకుండను అవి నిన్ను కాపాడును.

24. To keep you from your neighbor's wife, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.

25. దాని చక్కదనమునందు నీ హృదయములో ఆశపడకుము అది తన కనురెప్పలను చికిలించి నిన్ను లోపరచుకొన నియ్యకుము.

25. Lust not in your heart after her beauty, let her not captivate you with her glance!

26. వేశ్యాసాంగత్యము చేయువానికి రొట్టెతునక మాత్రము మిగిలియుండును. మగనాలు మిక్కిలి విలువగల ప్రాణమును వేటాడును.

26. For the price of a loose woman may be scarcely a loaf of bread, But if she is married, she is a trap for your precious life.

27. ఒకడు తన ఒడిలో అగ్ని నుంచుకొనినయెడల వాని వస్త్రములు కాలకుండునా?

27. Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his garments not burned?

28. ఒకడు నిప్పులమీద నడిచినయెడల వాని పాదములు కమలకుండునా?

28. Or can a man walk on live coals, and his feet not be scorched?

29. తన పొరుగువాని భార్యను కూడువాడు ఆ ప్రకారమే నాశనమగును ఆమెను ముట్టువాడు శిక్ష తప్పించుకొనడు.

29. So with him who goes in to his neighbor's wife-- none who touches her shall go unpunished.

30. దొంగ ఆకలిగొని ప్రాణరక్షణకొరకు దొంగిలిన యెడల యెవరును వాని తిరస్కరింపరు గదా.

30. Men despise not the thief if he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is hungry;

31. వాడు దొరికినయెడల ఏడంతలు చెల్లింపవలెను తన యింటి ఆస్తి అంతయు అప్పగింపవలెను.

31. Yet if he be caught he must pay back sevenfold; all the wealth of his house he may yield up.

32. జారత్వము జరిగించువాడు కేవలము బుద్ధిశూన్యుడు ఆ కార్యము చేయువాడు స్వనాశనమును కోరువాడే

32. But he who commits adultery is a fool; he who would destroy himself does it.

33. వాడు దెబ్బలకును అవమానమునకును పాత్రుడగును వానికి కలుగు అపకీర్తి యెన్నటికిని తొలగిపోదు.

33. A degrading beating will he get, and his disgrace will not be wiped away;

34. భర్తకు పుట్టు రోషము మహా రౌద్రముగలది ప్రతికారము చేయు కాలమందు అట్టివాడు కనికరపడడు.

34. For vindictive is the husband's wrath, he will have no pity on the day of vengeance;

35. ప్రాయశ్చిత్తమేమైన నీవు చేసినను వాడు లక్ష్యపెట్టడు ఎంత గొప్ప బహుమానములు నీవిచ్చినను వాడు ఒప్పుకొనడు.

35. He will not consider any restitution, nor be satisfied with the greatest gifts.
