1. కరవుకాలమున జరిగినదానిగూర్చి యిర్మీయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమైన యెహోవా వాక్కు.

1. When there had been no rain for a long time, the LORD told me to say to the people:

2. యూదా దుఃఖించు చున్నది, దాని గుమ్మములు అంగలార్చుచున్నవి, జనులు విచారగ్రస్తులై నేలకు వంగుదురు, యెరూషలేము చేయు అంగలార్పు పైకెక్కుచున్నది.

2. Judah and Jerusalem weep as the land dries up.

3. వారిలో ప్రధానులు బీద వారిని నీళ్లకు పంపుచున్నారు, వారు చెరువులయొద్దకు రాగా నీళ్లు దొరుకుటలేదు, వట్టి కుండలు తీసికొని వారు మరల వచ్చుచున్నారు, సిగ్గును అవమానము నొందినవారై తమ తలలు కప్పుకొనుచున్నారు.

3. Rulers send their servants to the storage pits for water. But there's none to be found; they return in despair with their jars still empty.

4. దేశములో వర్షము కురువక పోయినందున నేల చీలియున్నది గనుక సేద్యము చేయువారు సిగ్గుపడి తలలు కప్పుకొనుచున్నారు.

4. There has been no rain, and farmers feel sick as they watch cracks appear in the dry ground.

5. లేళ్లు పొలములో ఈని గడ్డిలేనందున పిల్లలను విడిచిపెట్టు చున్నవి.

5. A deer gives birth in a field, then abandons her newborn fawn and leaves in search of grass.

6. అడవి గాడిదలును చెట్లులేని మెట్టలమీద నిలువబడి నక్కలవలె గాలి పీల్చుచున్నవి, మేత ఏమియు లేనందున వాటి కన్నులు క్షీణించు చున్నవి.

6. Wild donkeys go blind from starvation. So they stand on barren hilltops and sniff the air, hoping to smell green grass.

7. యెహోవా, మా తిరుగుబాటులు అనేకములు,నీకు విరోధముగా మేము పాపముచేసితివిు; మా దోషములు మా మీద దోషారోపణ చేయుచున్నవి; నీ నామమును బట్టి నీవే కార్యము జరిగించుము.

7. Our terrible sins may demand that we be punished. But if you rescue us, LORD, everyone will see how great you are.

8. ఇశ్రాయేలునకు ఆశ్రయుడా, కష్టకాలమున వారికి రక్షకుడా, మా దేశములో నీ వేల పరదేశివలెనున్నావు? ఏల రాత్రివేళను బసచేయుటకు గుడారమువేయు ప్రయాణస్థునివలె ఉన్నావు;

8. You're our only hope; you alone can save us now. You help us one day, but you're gone the next.

9. భ్రమసియున్నవానివలెను రక్షింపలేని శూరుని వలెను నీవేల ఉన్నావు? యెహోవా, నీవు మామధ్య నున్నావే; మేము నీ పేరుపెట్టబడినవారము; మమ్మును చెయ్యి విడువకుము.

9. Did this disaster take you by surprise? Are you a warrior with your hands tied? You have chosen us, and your temple is here. Don't abandon us!

10. యెహోవా ఈ జనులతో ఈ మాట సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ జనులు తమ కాళ్లకు అడ్డములేకుండ తిరుగులాడుటకు ఇచ్ఛగలవారు గనుక యెహోవా వారిని అంగీకరింపడు; ఇప్పుడు ఆయన వారి అక్రమమును జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనును; వారి పాపములనుబట్టి వారిని శిక్షించును.

10. My people, you love to wander away; you don't even try to stay close to me. So now I will reject you and punish you for your sins. I, the LORD, have spoken.

11. The LORD said, "Jeremiah, don't ask me to help these people.

12. They may even go without eating and offer sacrifices to please me and to give thanks. But when they cry out for my help, I won't listen, and I won't accept their sacrifices. Instead, I'll send war, starvation, and disease to wipe them out."

13. I replied, "The other prophets keep telling everyone that you won't send starvation or war, and that you're going to give us peace."

14. యెహోవా నాతో ఇట్లనెనుప్రవక్తలు నా నామమునుబట్టి అబద్ధములు ప్రకటించుచున్నారు; నేను వారిని పంపలేదు, వారికి ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యలేదు, వారితో మాటలాడలేదు, వారు అసత్య దర్శనమును శకునమును మాయతంత్రమును తమ హృదయ మునపుట్టిన వంచనను ప్రకటన చేయుచున్నారు.

14. The LORD answered: They claim to speak for me, but they're lying! I didn't even speak to them, much less choose them to be my prophets. Their messages come from worthless dreams, useless fortunetelling, and their own imaginations.

15. కావున నేను వారిని పంపకపోయినను, నా నామమునుబట్టి ఖడ్గమైనను క్షామమైనను ఈ దేశములోనికి రాదని చెప్పుచు అబద్ధప్రవచనములు ప్రకటించు ప్రవక్తలను గూర్చి యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడుఆ ప్రవక్తలు ఖడ్గమువలనను క్షామమువలనను లయమగుదురు.

15. Those lying prophets say there will be peace and plenty of food. But I say that those same prophets will die from war and hunger.

16. వారెవరితో అట్టి ప్రవచనములు చెప్పుదురో ఆ జనులు క్షామమునకును ఖడ్గమునకును పాలై యెరూషలేము వీధులలో పడవేయ బడెదరు; నేను వారి చెడుతనమును వారిమీదికి రప్పించె దను. వారినైనను వారి భార్యలనైనను వారి కుమారులనైనను వారి కుమార్తెలనైనను పాతిపెట్టువాడెవడును లేక పోవును.

16. And everyone who listens to them will be killed, just as they deserve. Their dead bodies will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem, because their families will also be dead, and no one will be left to bury them.

17. నీవు వారితో చెప్పవలసిన మాట ఏదనగానా జనుల కన్యక గొప్ప ఉపద్రవమువలన పీడింపబడుచున్నది, ఘోరమైన గాయము నొందియున్నది; దివారాత్రము మానక నా కన్నులనుండి కన్నీరు కారుచున్నది.

17. Jeremiah, go and tell the people how you feel about all this. So I told them: "Tears will flood my eyes both day and night, because my nation suffers from a deadly wound.

18. పొలము లోనికి నేను పోగా ఖడ్గముచేత హతులైనవారు కనబడుదురు, పట్టణములో ప్రవేశింపగా క్షామపీడితులు అచ్చట నుందురు; ప్రవక్తలేమి యాజకులేమి తామెరుగని దేశము నకు పోవలెనని ప్రయాణమైయున్నారు.

18. In the fields I see the bodies of those killed in battle. And in the towns I see crowds dying of hunger. But the prophets and priests go about their business, without understanding what has happened."

19. నీవు యూదాను బొత్తిగా విసర్జించితివా? సీయోను నీకు అసహ్యమాయెనా? మాకు చికిత్స దొరకకుండునంతగా నీవేల మమ్మును కొట్టితివి? మేము సమాధానముకొరకు కని పెట్టుచున్నాము గాని మేలేదియు కనబడుటలేదు; చికిత్స కలుగు కాలముకొరకు కనిపెట్టుచున్నాము గాని భీతి తగిలియున్నది.

19. Have you rejected Judah, LORD? Do you hate Jerusalem? Why did you strike down Judah with a fatal wound? We had hoped for peace and a time of healing, but all we got was terror.

20. యెహోవా, మా దుర్మార్గతను మా పితరుల దోషమును మేము ఒప్పుకొనుచున్నాము; నీకు విరోధముగా పాపము చేసియున్నాము.

20. We and our ancestors are guilty of rebelling against you.

21. నీ నామమునుబట్టి మమ్మును త్రోసివేయకుము, ప్రశస్తమైన నీ సింహాసనమును అవమానపరచకుము, మాతో నీవు చేసిన నిబంధనను జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము, దాని భ్రష్ఠపరచకుమీ.

21. If you save us, it will show how great you are. Don't let our enemies disgrace your temple, your beautiful throne. Don't forget that you promised to rescue us.

22. జనముల వ్యర్థ దేవతలలో వర్షము కురిపింపగలవారున్నారా? ఆకాశము వాననియ్యగలదా? మా దేవుడవైన యెహోవా, నీవే గదా దాని చేయుచున్నావు? నీవే యీ క్రియలన్నియు చేయు చున్నావు; నీకొరకే మేము కనిపెట్టుచున్నాము.

22. Idols can't send rain, and showers don't fall by themselves. Only you control the rain, so we put our trust in you, the LORD our God.
