1. కరవుకాలమున జరిగినదానిగూర్చి యిర్మీయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమైన యెహోవా వాక్కు.

1. So much of the word of Yahweh as came unto Jeremiah, concerning the matter of the drought:

2. యూదా దుఃఖించు చున్నది, దాని గుమ్మములు అంగలార్చుచున్నవి, జనులు విచారగ్రస్తులై నేలకు వంగుదురు, యెరూషలేము చేయు అంగలార్పు పైకెక్కుచున్నది.

2. Judah mourneth, And the gates thereof, pine They lie in gloom on the ground, And the outcry Jerusalem, hath ascended;

3. వారిలో ప్రధానులు బీద వారిని నీళ్లకు పంపుచున్నారు, వారు చెరువులయొద్దకు రాగా నీళ్లు దొరుకుటలేదు, వట్టి కుండలు తీసికొని వారు మరల వచ్చుచున్నారు, సిగ్గును అవమానము నొందినవారై తమ తలలు కప్పుకొనుచున్నారు.

3. And, their nobles have sent their menials to the waters, They have been to the pits, They have found no water They have returned, their vessels empty, They are pale and ashamed and have covered their heads.

4. దేశములో వర్షము కురువక పోయినందున నేల చీలియున్నది గనుక సేద్యము చేయువారు సిగ్గుపడి తలలు కప్పుకొనుచున్నారు.

4. Because the ground, is cracked, For there hath been no rain in the land, The plowmen are pale They have covered their heads.

5. లేళ్లు పొలములో ఈని గడ్డిలేనందున పిల్లలను విడిచిపెట్టు చున్నవి.

5. For, even the hind of the field hath calved and forsaken, Because there is no young herbage;

6. అడవి గాడిదలును చెట్లులేని మెట్టలమీద నిలువబడి నక్కలవలె గాలి పీల్చుచున్నవి, మేత ఏమియు లేనందున వాటి కన్నులు క్షీణించు చున్నవి.

6. Yea, wild asses stand still on the bare heights, They pant for air like jackals, Dimmed are their eyes Because there is no grass.

7. యెహోవా, మా తిరుగుబాటులు అనేకములు, నీకు విరోధముగా మేము పాపముచేసితివిు; మా దోషములు మా మీద దోషారోపణ చేయుచున్నవి; నీ నామమును బట్టి నీవే కార్యము జరిగించుము.

7. Though, our iniquities, have testified against us, O Yahweh, effectually work thou for the sake of thy Name, For our apostasies have abounded Against thee, have we sinned.

8. ఇశ్రాయేలునకు ఆశ్రయుడా, కష్టకాలమున వారికి రక్షకుడా, మా దేశములో నీ వేల పరదేశివలెనున్నావు? ఏల రాత్రివేళను బసచేయుటకు గుడారమువేయు ప్రయాణస్థునివలె ఉన్నావు;

8. Thou Hope of Israel, His Saviour in the time of distress, Wherefore shouldst thou be as a sojourner in the and? Or as a wayfarer, who hath turned aside to lodge for the night?

9. భ్రమసియున్నవానివలెను రక్షింపలేని శూరుని వలెను నీవేల ఉన్నావు? యెహోవా, నీవు మామధ్య నున్నావే; మేము నీ పేరుపెట్టబడినవారము; మమ్మును చెయ్యి విడువకుము.

9. Wherefore, shouldst thou be as a man astounded, As a mighty man who cannot save? Yet, thou, art in our midst O Yahweh And, thy Name, on us, hath been called Do not abandon us!

10. యెహోవా ఈ జనులతో ఈ మాట సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ జనులు తమ కాళ్లకు అడ్డములేకుండ తిరుగులాడుటకు ఇచ్ఛగలవారు గనుక యెహోవా వారిని అంగీకరింపడు; ఇప్పుడు ఆయన వారి అక్రమమును జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనును; వారి పాపములనుబట్టి వారిని శిక్షించును.

10. Thus, saith Yahweh To this people In this way, have they loved to wander, Their feet, have they not restrained, Yahweh, therefore hath not accepted them, Now, will he call to mind their iniquity, That he may punish their sins.

11. మరియు యెహోవా నాతో ఇట్లనెనువారికి మేలు కలుగునట్లు ఈ ప్రజల నిమిత్తము ప్రార్థన చేయకుము.

11. And Yahweh said unto me, Do not pray for this people for blessing;

12. వారు ఉపవాసమున్నప్పుడు నేను వారి మొఱ్ఱను వినను; వారు దహనబలియైనను నైవేద్యమైనను అర్పించునప్పుడు నేను వాటిని అంగీకరింపను; ఖడ్గమువలనను క్షామమువలనను తెగులువలనను వారిని నాశము చేసెదను

12. Though they fast, I am not going to hearken unto their loud cry, and Though they offer ascending-sacrifice and meal-offering, I am not going to accept them, For with sword and with famine and with pestilence, am, I, about to consume them.

13. అందుకు నేను అయ్యో, ప్రభువైన యెహోవామీరు ఖడ్గము చూడరు మీకు క్షామము కలుగదు, ఈ చోటను నేను స్థిరమైన సమాధానము మీకిచ్చెదనని ప్రవక్తలు వారితో చెప్పుచున్నారవి నేననగా

13. Then said I, Ah, My Lord Yahweh! Lo! the prophets, are saying to them Ye shall not see the sword And famine, shall ye not have, For prosperity in truth, will I give you, in this place.

14. యెహోవా నాతో ఇట్లనెనుప్రవక్తలు నా నామమునుబట్టి అబద్ధములు ప్రకటించుచున్నారు; నేను వారిని పంపలేదు, వారికి ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యలేదు, వారితో మాటలాడలేదు, వారు అసత్య దర్శనమును శకునమును మాయతంత్రమును తమ హృదయ మునపుట్టిన వంచనను ప్రకటన చేయుచున్నారు.

14. So then Yahweh said unto me, Falsehood, are the prophets prophesying in my name, I have not sent them Neither have I commanded them, Neither have I spoken unto them, A vision of falsehood, and A divination of worthlessness and A fraud of their own hearts, They, are prophesying unto you.

15. కావున నేను వారిని పంపకపోయినను, నా నామమునుబట్టి ఖడ్గమైనను క్షామమైనను ఈ దేశములోనికి రాదని చెప్పుచు అబద్ధప్రవచనములు ప్రకటించు ప్రవక్తలను గూర్చి యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడుఆ ప్రవక్తలు ఖడ్గమువలనను క్షామమువలనను లయమగుదురు.

15. Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh concerning the prophets who are prophesying in my Name though, I, sent them not, and yet, they have beer, saying, Neither sword nor famine, shall there be in this land, By sword or by famine, shall these prophets be consumed;

16. వారెవరితో అట్టి ప్రవచనములు చెప్పుదురో ఆ జనులు క్షామమునకును ఖడ్గమునకును పాలై యెరూషలేము వీధులలో పడవేయ బడెదరు; నేను వారి చెడుతనమును వారిమీదికి రప్పించె దను. వారినైనను వారి భార్యలనైనను వారి కుమారులనైనను వారి కుమార్తెలనైనను పాతిపెట్టువాడెవడును లేక పోవును.

16. And the people to whom they have been prophesying shall be getting cast out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword, and of there being none to give burial unto them, them, their wives, nor their sons nor their daughters, So will I pour out upon them their own wickedness.

17. నీవు వారితో చెప్పవలసిన మాట ఏదనగానా జనుల కన్యక గొప్ప ఉపద్రవమువలన పీడింపబడుచున్నది, ఘోరమైన గాయము నొందియున్నది; దివారాత్రము మానక నా కన్నులనుండి కన్నీరు కారుచున్నది.

17. Therefore shalt thou say unto them this word, Let mine eyes, run down with tears night and day, And let them not rest, For with a grievous injury, hath been injured the virgin the daughter of my people, With a wound, severe indeed!

18. పొలము లోనికి నేను పోగా ఖడ్గముచేత హతులైనవారు కనబడుదురు, పట్టణములో ప్రవేశింపగా క్షామపీడితులు అచ్చట నుందురు; ప్రవక్తలేమి యాజకులేమి తామెరుగని దేశము నకు పోవలెనని ప్రయాణమైయున్నారు.

18. If I have gone out into the field, Then lo! the slain of the sword! And if have entered the city, Then lo! the diseases of famine! For, both prophet and priest, have trafficked against the land unnoticed.

19. నీవు యూదాను బొత్తిగా విసర్జించితివా? సీయోను నీకు అసహ్యమాయెనా? మాకు చికిత్స దొరకకుండునంతగా నీవేల మమ్మును కొట్టితివి? మేము సమాధానముకొరకు కని పెట్టుచున్నాము గాని మేలేదియు కనబడుటలేదు; చికిత్స కలుగు కాలముకొరకు కనిపెట్టుచున్నాము గాని భీతి తగిలియున్నది.

19. Hast thou, utterly rejected, Judah? Zion itself, hath thy soul loathed? Why, hast thou smitten us so that there is for us no healing? A waiting For prosperity, but no welfare, and For a time of healing, but lo! terror!

20. యెహోవా, మా దుర్మార్గతను మా పితరుల దోషమును మేము ఒప్పుకొనుచున్నాము; నీకు విరోధముగా పాపము చేసియున్నాము.

20. We acknowledge O Yahweh Our own lawlessness The iniquity of our fathers, For we have sinned against thee.

21. నీ నామమునుబట్టి మమ్మును త్రోసివేయకుము, ప్రశస్తమైన నీ సింహాసనమును అవమానపరచకుము, మాతో నీవు చేసిన నిబంధనను జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము, దాని భ్రష్ఠపరచకుమీ.

21. Do not despise for the sake of thy Name, Do not treat with contempt the throne of thy glory, Remember! do not break thy covenant with us.

22. జనముల వ్యర్థ దేవతలలో వర్షము కురిపింపగలవారున్నారా? ఆకాశము వాననియ్యగలదా? మా దేవుడవైన యెహోవా, నీవే గదా దాని చేయుచున్నావు? నీవే యీ క్రియలన్నియు చేయు చున్నావు; నీకొరకే మేము కనిపెట్టుచున్నాము.

22. Are there, among the vanities of the nations senders of rain? Or can, the heavens themselves, give myriad drops? Art not, thou, he, O Yahweh our God? Therefore will we wait for thee, For, thou, hast made all these.
