1. యోషీయా కుమారుడును యూదారాజునగు యెహోయాకీము ఏలుబడి ఆరంభములో యెహోవా యొద్దనుండి వాక్కు ప్రత్యక్షమై యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను.

1. IN THE beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the Lord:

2. యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చునదేమనగా, నీవు యెహోవా మందిరావరణములో నిలిచి, నేను నీ కాజ్ఞాపించు మాటలన్నిటిని యెహోవా మందిరములో ఆరాధించుటకై వచ్చు యూదా పట్టణస్థులందరికి ప్రకటింపుము; వాటిలో ఒక మాటైనను చెప్పక విడవకూడదు.

2. Thus says the Lord: Stand in the court of the Lord's house [Jeremiah] and speak to all [the people of] the cities of Judah who come to worship in the Lord's house all the words that I command you to speak to them; subtract not a word.

3. వారి దుర్మార్గమును బట్టి వారికి చేయదలచిన కీడును చేయక నేను సంతాపపడునట్లుగా వారు ఆలకించి తన దుర్మార్గము విడుచుదురేమో.

3. It may be that they will listen and turn every man from his evil way, that I may relent and reverse My decision concerning the evil which I purpose to do to them because of their evil doings.

4. నీవు వారితో ఈ మాట చెప్పవలెను. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా

4. And you will say to them, Thus says the Lord: If you will not listen to and obey Me, to walk in My law, which I have set before you,

5. మీరు నా మాటలు విని నేను మీకు నియమించిన ధర్మశాస్త్రము ననుసరించి నడుచు కొనుడనియు, నేను పెందలకడ లేచి పంపుచున్న నా సేవకులగు ప్రవక్తల మాటలను అంగీకరించుడనియు నేను మీకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యగా మీరు వినకపోతిరి.

5. And to hear and obey the words of My servants the prophets, whom I have sent to you urgently and persistently--though you have not listened and obeyed--

6. మీరీలాగున చేసినందున నేను షిలోహునకు చేసినట్లు ఈ మందిరమున కును చేసెదను, ఈ పట్టణమును భూమిమీదనున్న సమస్త జనములకు శాపాస్పదముగా చేసెదను.

6. Then will I make this house [the temple] like Shiloh [the home of the Tent of Meeting, abandoned and later destroyed after the ark was captured by the Philistines], and I will make this city subject to the curses of all nations of the earth [so vile in their sight will it be]. [I Sam. 4; Jer. 7:12.]

7. యిర్మీయా యీ మాటలను యెహోవా మందిరములో పలుకుచుండగా యాజకులును ప్రవక్తలును జనులందరును వినిరి.

7. And the priests and the [false] prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord.

8. జనుల కందరికిని ప్రకటింపవలెనని యెహోవా యిర్మీయాకు ఆజ్ఞాపించిన మాటలన్నిటిని అతడు పలికి చాలించిన తరువాత యాజకులును ప్రవక్తలును జనులందరును అతని పట్టుకొని నీవు మరణశిక్ష నొందక తప్పదు.

8. Now when Jeremiah had finished speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests and the [false] prophets and all the people seized him, saying, You shall surely die!

9. యెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి ఈ మందిరము షిలోహువలె నగుననియు, ఈ పట్టణము నివాసిలేక పాడైపోవుననియు నీవేల ప్రకటించుచున్నావు అనుచు, ప్రజలందరు యెహోవా మందిరములో యిర్మీయాయొద్దకు కూడివచ్చిరి.

9. Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh [after the ark of the Lord had been taken by our enemies] and this city [Jerusalem] shall be desolate, without inhabitant? And all the people were gathered around Jeremiah in the [outer area of the] house of the Lord.

10. యూదా అధిపతులు ఆ సంగతులు విని రాజు నగరులో నుండి యెహోవా మందిరమునకు వచ్చి, యెహోవా మందిరపు క్రొత్త గవిని ద్వారమున కూర్చుండగా

10. When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king's house to the house of the Lord and sat down in the entry of the New Gate of the house of the Lord.

11. యాజకులును ప్రవక్తలును అధిపతులతోను సమస్త ప్రజల తోను ఈలాగనిరి మీరు చెవులార వినియున్న ప్రకారము, ఈ మనుష్యుడు ఈ పట్టణమునకు విరోధముగా ప్రవచించుచున్నాడు; గనుక ఇతడు మరణమునకు పాత్రుడు.

11. Then the priests and the prophets said to the princes and to all the people, This man is deserving of death, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.

12. అప్పుడు యిర్మీయా అధిపతులందరితోను జనులందరితోను ఈ మాట చెప్పెనుఈ మందిరమునకు విరోధముగాను ఈ పట్టణమునకు విరోధముగాను మీరు వినిన మాటలన్నిటిని ప్రకటించుటకు యెహోవాయే నన్ను పంపియున్నాడు.

12. Then Jeremiah said to all the princes and to all the people: The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

13. కాబట్టి యెహోవా మీకు చేసెదనని తాను చెప్పిన కీడునుగూర్చి ఆయన సంతాపపడునట్లు మీరు మీ మార్గములను మీ క్రియలను చక్కపరచుకొని మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా మాట వినుడి.

13. Therefore now amend your ways and your doings and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent and reverse the decision concerning the evil which He has pronounced against you.

14. ఇదిగో నేను మీ వశములోనున్నాను, మీ దృష్టికేది మంచిదో యేది యుక్తమైనదో అదే నాకు చేయుడి.

14. As for me, behold, I am in your hands; do with me as seems good and suitable to you.

15. అయితే మీకు చెవులార ఈ మాటలన్నిటిని చెప్పుటకు నిజముగా యెహోవా మీయొద్దకు నన్ను పంపియున్నాడు గనుక, మీరు నన్ను చంపినయెడల మీరు మీమీదికిని ఈ పట్టణముమీదికిని దాని నివాసుల మీదికిని నిరపరాధి రక్తదోషము తెప్పించుదురని నిస్సందేహముగా తెలిసికొనుడి.

15. But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and upon its inhabitants, for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.

16. కాగా అధిపతులును జనులందరును యాజకులతోను ప్రవక్తలతోను ఇట్లనిరి ఈ మనుష్యుడు మన దేవుడైన యెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి మనకు ఈ సమాచారము ప్రకటించుచున్నాడు గనుక ఇతడు మరణమునకు పాత్రుడు కాడు.

16. Then said the princes and all the people to the priests and to the prophets: This man is not deserving of death, for he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.

17. మరియు దేశమందలి పెద్దలలో కొందరు లేచి సమాజముగా కూడిన జనులతో ఈ మాటలు పలికిరి.

17. Then certain of the elders of the land arose and said to all the assembly of the people,

18. యూదారాజైన హిజ్కియా దినములలో మోరష్తీయుడైన మీకా ప్రవచించుచుండెను. అతడు యూదా జనులందరితో ఇట్లు ప్రకటించుచు వచ్చెను సైన్యముల కధిపతియగు యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు చేనుదున్నబడునట్లు మిమ్మునుబట్టి సీయోను దున్నబడును, యెరూషలేము రాళ్లకుప్పలగును, మందిరమున్న పర్వతము అరణ్యములోని ఉన్నతస్థలములవలె అగును.

18. Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and said to all the people of Judah, Thus says the Lord of hosts: Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps [of ruins], and the mountain of the house [of the Lord--Mount Moriah, on which stands the temple, shall become covered not with buildings, but] like a densely wooded height. [Mic. 3:12.]

19. అట్లు పలికి నందున యూదారాజైన హిజ్కియాయైనను యూదా జనులందరిలో మరి ఎవడైనను అతని చంపిరా? యెహోవా వారికి చేసెదనని తాను చెప్పిన కీడును చేయక సంతాప పడునట్లు రాజు యెహోవాయందు భయభక్తులు కలిగి యెహోవా దయను వేడుకొనెను గదా? మనము ఈ కార్యము చేసినయెడల మనమీదికే గొప్ప కీడు తెచ్చు కొందుము అని చెప్పిరి.

19. Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put [Micah] to death? Did he not [reverently] fear the Lord and entreat the Lord? And did not the Lord relent and reverse the decision concerning the evil which He had pronounced against them? But [here] we are thinking of committing what will be a great evil against ourselves.

20. మరియు కిర్యత్యారీము వాడైన షెమయా కుమారుడగు ఊరియాయను ఒకడు యెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి ప్రవచించుచుండెను. అతడు యిర్మీయా చెప్పిన మాటల రీతిని యీ పట్టణమునకు విరోధముగాను ఈ దేశమునకు విరోధముగాను ప్రవచించెను.

20. And there was also a man who prophesied in the name of the Lord, Uriah son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land in words similar to those of Jeremiah.

21. రాజైన యెహోయాకీమును అతని శూరులందరును ప్రధానులందరును అతని మాటలు వినినమీదట రాజు అతని చంపజూచుచుండగా, ఊరియా దాని తెలిసికొని భయపడి పారిపోయి ఐగుప్తు చేరెను.

21. And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put [Uriah] to death; but when Uriah heard of it, he was afraid and fled and escaped to Egypt.

22. అప్పుడు రాజైన యెహోయాకీము అక్బోరు కుమారుడగు ఎల్నాతానును అతనితో కొందరిని ఐగుప్తునకు పంపెను;

22. And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan son of Achbor and certain other men [who went] with him into Egypt.

23. వారు ఐగుప్తులోనుండి ఊరియాను తీసి కొనివచ్చి రాజైన యెహోయాకీమునొద్ద చేర్చగా, ఇతడు ఖడ్గముతో అతని చంపి సామాన్యజనుల సమాధిలో అతని కళేబరమును వేయించెను.

23. And they fetched Uriah from Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who slew him [God's spokesman] with the sword and cast his dead body among the graves of the common people.

24. ఈలాగు జరుగగా షాఫాను కుమారుడైన అహీకాము యిర్మీయాకు తోడైయున్నందున అతని చంపుటకు వారు జనుల చేతికి అతనిని అప్పగింపలేదు.

24. But the hand of Ahikam son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that he might not be given into the hands of the people to put him [also] to death.
