1. తరువాత ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు సాగి యెరికోకు ఎదు రుగా యొర్దాను తీరముననున్న మోయాబు మైదానములలో దిగిరి.

1. Then the people of Isra'el traveled on and camped in the plains of Mo'av beyond the Yarden River, opposite Yericho.

2. సిప్పోరు కుమారుడైన బాలాకు ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులు అమోరీయులకు చేసినదంతయు చూచెను.

2. Now Balak the son of Tzippor saw all that Isra'el had done to the Emori.

3. జనము విస్తారముగా నున్నందున మోయాబీయులు వారిని చూచి మిక్కిలి భయపడిరి; మోయాబీయులు ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులకు జంకిరి.

3. Mo'av was very afraid of the people, because there were so many of them; Mo'av was overcome with dread because of the people of Isra'el.

4. మోయాబీయులు మిద్యాను పెద్దలతో ఎద్దు బీటి పచ్చికను నాకివేయునట్లు ఈ జనసమూహము మన చుట్టు ఉన్నది యావత్తును ఇప్పుడు నాకివేయు ననిరి. ఆ కాలమందు సిప్పోరు కుమారుడైన బాలాకు మోయాబీయులకు రాజు.

4. So Mo'av said to the leaders of Midyan, "This horde will lick up everything around us, the way an ox licks up grass in the field." Balak the son of Tzippor was king of Mo'av at that time.

5. కాబట్టి అతడు బెయోరు కుమారుడైన బిలామును పిలుచుటకు అతని జనుల దేశమందలి నదియొద్దనున్న పెతోరుకు దూతలచేత ఈ వర్తమానము పంపెనుచిత్తగించుము; ఒక జనము ఐగుప్తులోనుండి వచ్చెను; ఇదిగో వారు భూతలమును కప్పి నా యెదుట దిగియున్నారు.

5. He sent messengers to Bil'am the son of B'or, at P'tor by the [[Euphrates]] River in his native land, to tell him, "Listen, a people has come out of Egypt, spread over all the land and settled down next to me.

6. కాబట్టి నీవు దయచేసి వచ్చి నా నిమిత్తము ఈ జనమును శపించుము; వారు నాకంటె బలవంతులు; వారిని హతము చేయుటకు నేను బలమొందుదునేమో; అప్పుడు నేను ఈ దేశములోనుండి వారిని తోలివేయుదును; ఏలయనగా నీవు దీవించువాడు దీవింపబడుననియు శపించువాడు శపించబడుననియు నేనెరుగుదును.

6. Therefore, please come, and curse this people for me, because they are stronger than I am. Maybe I will be able to strike them down and drive them out of the land, for I know that whomever you bless is in fact blessed, and whomever you curse is in fact cursed."

7. కాబట్టి మోయాబు పెద్దలును మిద్యాను పెద్దలును సోదె సొమ్మును చేత పట్టుకొని బిలామునొద్దకు వచ్చి బాలాకు మాటలను అతనితో చెప్పగా

7. The leaders of Mo'av and Midyan left, taking with them the payment for divining, came to Bil'am and spoke to him the words of Balak.

8. అతడు వారితోయీ రాత్రి ఇక్కడనే ఉండుడి; యెహోవా నాకు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటలను నేను తిరిగి వచ్చి మీతో చెప్పెదననెను. అప్పుడు మోయాబు అధికారులు బిలాము నొద్ద బసచేసిరి.

8. He said to them, "Stay here tonight, and I will bring you back whatever answer ADONAI tells me." So the princes of Mo'av stayed with Bil'am.

9. దేవుడు బిలామునొద్దకు వచ్చినీ యొద్దనున్న యీ మనుష్యులు ఎవరని అడుగగా

9. God came to Bil'am and said, "Who are these men with you?"

10. బిలాము దేవునితో యిట్లనెనుసిప్పోరు కుమారుడైన బాలాకను మోయాబు రాజు

10. Bil'am said to God, "Balak the son of Tzippor, king of Mo'av, has sent me this message:

11. చిత్తగించుము; ఒక జనము ఐగుప్తునుండి బయలుదేరి వచ్చెను; వారు భూతల మును కప్పుచున్నారు; నీవు ఇప్పుడేవచ్చి నా నిమిత్తము వారిని శపింపుము; నేను వారితో యుద్ధముచేసి వారిని తోలివేయుదునేమో అని వీరిచేత నాకు వర్తమానము పంపెను.

11. 'The people who came out of Egypt have spread over the land; now, come and curse them for me; maybe I will be able to fight against them and drive them out.'"

12. అందుకు దేవుడునీవు వారితో వెళ్లకూడదు, ఆ ప్రజలను శపింపకూడదు, వారు ఆశీర్వదింపబడినవారు అని బిలాముతో చెప్పెను.

12. God answered Bil'am, "You are not to go with them; you are not to curse the people, because they are blessed."

13. కాబట్టి బిలాము ఉదయమున లేచి బాలాకు అధికారులతోమీరు మీ స్వదేశమునకు వెళ్లుడి; మీతో కూడ వచ్చుటకు యెహోవా నాకు సెలవియ్యనని చెప్పుచున్నాడనగా

13. Bil'am got up in the morning and said to the princes of Balak, "Return to your own land, because ADONAI refuses to give me permission to go with you."

14. మోయాబు అధి కారులు లేచి బాలాకు నొద్దకు వెళ్లిబిలాము మాతో కూడ రానొల్లడాయెననిరి.

14. The princes of Mo'av got up, returned to Balak and said, "Bil'am refuses to come with us."

15. అయినను బాలాకు వారి కంటె బహు ఘనతవహించిన మరి యెక్కువ మంది అధి కారులను మరల పంపెను.

15. Balak again sent princes, more of them and of higher status than the first group.

16. వారు బిలామునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతనితోనీవు దయచేసి నాయొద్దకు వచ్చుటకు ఏమియు అడ్డము చెప్పకుము.

16. They went to Bil'am and said to him, "Here is what Balak the son of Tzippor says: 'Please don't let anything keep you from coming to me.

17. నేను నీకు బహు ఘనత కలుగజేసె దను; నీవు నాతో ఏమి చెప్పుదువో అది చేసెదను గనుక నీవు దయచేసి వచ్చి, నా నిమిత్తము ఈ జనమును శపించుమని సిప్పోరు కుమారుడైన బాలాకు చెప్పెననిరి.

17. I will reward you very well, and whatever you say to me I will do. So please come, and curse this people for me.'"

18. అందుకు బిలాముబాలాకు తన యింటెడు వెండి బంగా రములను నాకిచ్చినను కొద్దిపనినైనను గొప్పపనినైనను చేయునట్లు నేను నా దేవుడైన యెహోవా నోటిమాట మీరలేను.

18. Bil'am answered the servants of Balak, "Even if Balak were to give me his palace filled with silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of ADONAI my God to do anything, great or small.

19. కాబట్టి మీరు దయచేసి యీ రాత్రి ఇక్కడ నుండుడి; యెహోవా నాతో నిక నేమి చెప్పునో నేను తెలిసికొందునని బాలాకు సేవకులకు ఉత్తరమిచ్చెను.

19. Now, please, you too, stay here tonight; so that I may find out what else ADONAI will say to me."

20. ఆ రాత్రి దేవుడు బిలామునొద్దకువచ్చిఆ మనుష్యులు నిన్ను పిలువ వచ్చినయెడల నీవు లేచి వారితో వెళ్లుము; అయితే నేను నీతో చెప్పిన మాటచొప్పుననే నీవు చేయవలెనని అతనికి సెలవిచ్చెను.

20. God came to Bil'am during the night and said to him, "If the men have come to summon you, get up and go with them; but do only what I tell you."

21. ఉదయమున బిలాము లేచి తన గాడిదకు గంత కట్టి మోయాబు అధికారులతో కూడ వెళ్లెను.

21. So Bil'am got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Mo'av.

22. అతడు వెళ్లుచుండగా దేవుని కోపము రగులుకొనెను; యెహోవా దూత అతనికి విరోధియై త్రోవలో నిలిచెను. అతడు తన గాడిదనెక్కి పోవుచుండగా అతని పనివారు ఇద్దరు అతనితోకూడ నుండిరి.

22. But God's anger flared up because he went, and the angel of ADONAI stationed himself on the path to bar his way. He was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

23. యెహోవా దూత ఖడ్గము దూసి చేత పట్టుకొని త్రోవలో నిలిచి యుండుట ఆ గాడిద చూచెను గనుక అది త్రోవను విడిచి పొలములోనికి పోయెను. బిలాము గాడిదను దారికి మలుపవలెనని దాని కొట్టగా

23. The donkey saw the angel of ADONAI standing on the road, drawn sword in hand; so the donkey turned off the road into the field; and Bil'am had to beat the donkey to get it back on the road.

24. యెహోవా దూత యిరుప్రక్కలను గోడలుగల ద్రాక్షతోటల సందులో నిలిచెను.

24. Then the angel of ADONAI stood on the road where it became narrow as it passed among the vineyards and had stone walls on both sides.

25. గాడిద యెహోవా దూతను చూచి గోడమీద పడి బిలాము కాలును గోడకు అదిమెను గనుక అతడు దాని మరల కొట్టెను.

25. The donkey saw the angel of ADONAI and pushed up against the wall, crushing Bil'am's foot against the wall. So he beat it again.

26. యెహోవా దూత ముందు వెళ్లుచు కుడికైనను ఎడమకైనను తిరుగుటకు దారిలేని యిరుకు చోటను నిలువగా

26. The angel of ADONAI moved ahead and stood in a place so tight that there was no room to turn either right or left.

27. గాడిద యెహోవా దూతను చూచి బిలాముతోకూడ క్రింద కూలబడెను గనుక బిలాము కోపముమండి తన చేతి కఱ్ఱతో గాడిదను కొట్టెను.

27. Again the donkey saw the angel of ADONAI and lay down under Bil'am, which made him so angry that he hit the donkey with his stick.

28. అప్పుడు యెహోవా ఆ గాడిదకు వాక్కు నిచ్చెను గనుక అదినీవు నన్ను ముమ్మారు కొట్టితివి; నేను నిన్నేమి చేసితినని బిలాముతో అనగా

28. But ADONAI enabled the donkey to speak, and it said to Bil'am, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?"

29. బిలామునీవు నామీద తిరుగబడితివి; నాచేత ఖడ్గమున్న యెడల నిన్ను చంపియుందునని గాడిదతో అనెను.

29. Bil'am said to the donkey, "It's because you've been making a fool of me! I wish I had a sword in my hand; I would kill you on the spot!"

30. అందుకు గాడిదనేను నీదాననైనది మొదలుకొని నేటివరకు నీవు ఎక్కుచు వచ్చిన నీ గాడిదను కానా? నేనెప్పుడైన నీకిట్లు చేయుట కద్దా? అని బిలాముతో అనగా అతడులేదనెను.

30. The donkey said to Bil'am, "I'm your donkey, right? You've ridden me all your life, right? Have I ever treated you like this before?" "No," he admitted.

31. అంతలో యెహోవా బిలాము కన్నులు తెరచెను గనుక, దూసిన ఖడ్గము చేతపట్టుకొని త్రోవలో నిలిచియున్న యెహోవా దూతను అతడు చూచి తల వంచి సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారము చేయగా

31. Then ADONAI opened Bil'am's eyes, so that he could see the angel of ADONAI standing in the way with his drawn sword in his hand, and he bowed his head and fell on his face.

32. యెహోవా దూతయీ ముమ్మారు నీ గాడిదను నీవేల కొట్టితివి? ఇదిగో నా యెదుట నీ నడత విపరీతమైనది గనుక నేను నీకు విరోధినై బయలుదేరి వచ్చితిని.

32. The angel of ADONAI said to him, "Why did you hit your donkey three times like that? I have come out here to bar your way, because you are rushing to oppose me.

33. ఆ గాడిద నన్ను చూచి యీ ముమ్మారు నా యెదుటనుండి తొలిగెను; అది నా యెదుట నుండి తొలగని యెడల నిశ్చయముగా నేనప్పుడే నిన్ను చంపి దాని ప్రాణమును రక్షించి యుందునని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

33. The donkey saw me and turned aside these three times; and indeed, if she hadn't turned away from me, I would have killed you by now and saved it alive!"

34. అందుకు బిలామునేను పాపముచేసితిని; నీవు నాకు ఎదురుగా త్రోవలో నిలుచుట నాకు తెలిసినది కాదు. కాబట్టి యీ పని నీ దృష్టికి చెడ్డదైతే నేను వెనుకకు వెళ్లెదనని యెహోవా దూతతో చెప్పగా

34. Bil'am said to the angel of ADONAI, "I have sinned. I didn't know that you were standing on the road to block me. Now, therefore, if what I am doing displeases you, I will go back."

35. యెహోవా దూతనీవు ఆ మనుష్యులతో కూడ వెళ్లుము. అయితే నేను నీతో చెప్పు మాటయేకాని మరేమియు పలుకకూడదని బిలాముతో చెప్పెను. అప్పుడు బిలాము బాలాకు అధికారులతో కూడ వెళ్లెను.

35. But the angel of ADONAI said to Bil'am, "No, go on with the men; but you are to say only what I tell you to say." So Bil'am went along with the princes of Balak.

36. బిలాము వచ్చెనని బాలాకు విని, ఆ పొలిమేరల చివరనున్న అర్నోను తీరమునందలి మోయాబు పట్టణమువరకు అతనిని ఎదుర్కొన బయలువెళ్లగా

36. When Balak heard that Bil'am had come, he went out to meet him in the city of Mo'av at the Arnon border, in the farthest reaches of the territory.

37. బాలాకు బిలాముతో నిన్ను పిలుచుటకు నేను నీయొద్దకు దూతలను పంపియుంటిని గదా. నాయొద్దకు నీవేల రాకపోతివి? నిన్ను ఘనపరచ సమర్థుడను కానా? అనెను.

37. Balak said to Bil'am, "I sent more than once to summon you! Why didn't you come to me? Did you think I couldn't pay you enough?"

38. అందుకు బిలాముఇదిగో నీయొద్దకు వచ్చితిని; అయిన నేమి? ఏదైనను చెప్పుటకు నాకు శక్తి కలదా? దేవుడు నా నోట పలికించు మాటయే పలికెదనని బాలాకుతో చెప్పెను.

38. Bil'am replied to Balak, "Here, I've come to you! But I have no power of my own to say anything. The word that God puts in my mouth is what I will say."

39. అప్పుడు బిలాము బాలాకుతో కూడ వెళ్లెను. వారు కిర్యత్‌ హుచ్చోతుకు వచ్చినప్పుడు

39. Bil'am went with Balak. When they arrived at Kiryat-Hutzot,

40. బాలాకు ఎడ్లను గొఱ్ఱెలను బలిగా అర్పించి, కొంతభాగము బిలాముకును అతని యొద్దనున్న అధికారుల కును పంపెను.

40. Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, then sent to Bil'am and the princes with him.

41. మరునాడు బాలాకు బిలామును తోడు కొనిపోయి, బయలుయొక్క ఉన్నత స్థలములమీదనుండి జనులను చివరవరకు చూడవలెనని అతనిని అచ్చోట ఎక్కించెను.

41. In the morning Balak took Bil'am and brought him up to the high places of Ba'al; from there he could see a portion of the people.
