1. ఆయన అక్కడనుండి బయలుదేరి స్వదేశమునకు రాగా, ఆయన శిష్యులు ఆయనను వెంబడించిరి.

1. JESUS WENT away from there and came to His [own] country and hometown [Nazareth], and His disciples followed [with] Him.

2. విశ్రాంతి దినము వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆయన సమాజమందిరములో బోధింపనారంభించెను. అనేకులు ఆయన బోధ విని ఆశ్చర్యపడి ఈ సంగతులు ఇతనికి ఎక్కడనుండి వచ్చెను? ఇతనికియ్యబడిన ఈ జ్ఞానమెట్టిది? ఇతని చేతుల వలన ఇట్టి అద్భుతములు చేయబడుచున్నవి? ఇదేమి?

2. And on the Sabbath He began to teach in the synagogue; and many who listened to Him were utterly astonished, saying, Where did this Man acquire all this? What is the wisdom [the broad and full intelligence which has been] given to Him? What mighty works and exhibitions of power are wrought by His hands!

3. ఇతడు మరియ కుమారుడు కాడా? ఇతడు యాకోబు, యోసే, యూదా, సీమోను అనువారి సహోదరుడగు వడ్లవాడు కాడా? ఇతని సోదరీమణులందరు మనతో నున్నారు కారా? అని చెప్పు కొనుచు ఆయన విషయమై అభ్యంతరపడిరి.

3. Is not this the Carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here among us? And they took offense at Him and were hurt [that is, they disapproved of Him, and it hindered them from acknowledging His authority] and they were caused to stumble and fall.

4. అందుకు యేసు ప్రవక్త తన దేశము లోను తన బంధువులలోను తన యింటివారిలోను తప్ప మరి ఎక్కడను ఘనహీనుడు కాడని చెప్పెను.

4. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor (deference, reverence) except in his [own] country and among [his] relatives and in his [own] house.

5. అందు వలన కొద్దిమంది రోగులమీద చేతులుంచి వారిని స్వస్థ పరచుట తప్ప మరి ఏ అద్భుతమును ఆయన అక్కడ చేయజాలకపోయెను. ఆయన వారి అవిశ్వాసమునకు ఆశ్చర్యపడెను.

5. And He was not able to do even one work of power there, except that He laid His hands on a few sickly people [and] cured them.

6. ఆయన చుట్టుపట్లనున్న గ్రామములు తిరుగుచు బోధించుచుండెను.

6. And He marveled because of their unbelief (their lack of faith in Him). And He went about among the surrounding villages and continued teaching.

7. ఆయన పండ్రెండుగురు శిష్యులను తనయొద్దకు పిలిచి, వారిని ఇద్దరిద్దరినిగా పంపుచు, అపవిత్రాత్మల మీద వారి కధికారమిచ్చి

7. And He called to Him the Twelve [apostles] and began to send them out [as His ambassadors] two by two and gave them authority and power over the unclean spirits.

8. ప్రయాణముకొరకు చేతికఱ్ఱను తప్ప రొట్టెనైనను జాలెనైనను సంచిలో సొమ్మునైనను తీసికొనక

8. He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a walking stick--no bread, no wallet for a collection bag, no money in their belts (girdles, purses)--

9. చెప్పులు తొడగుకొనుడనియు, రెండంగీలు వేసికొన వద్దనియు వారికాజ్ఞాపించెను.

9. But to go with sandals on their feet and not to put on two tunics (undergarments).

10. మరియు ఆయన వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమీరెక్కడ ఒక యింట ప్రవేశించెదరో అక్కడనుండి మీరు బయలుదేరువరకు ఆ యింటనే బసచేయుడి.

10. And He told them, Wherever you go into a house, stay there until you leave that place.

11. And if any community will not receive and accept and welcome you, and they refuse to listen to you, when you depart, shake off the dust that is on your feet, for a testimony against them. Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the judgment day than for that town.

12. కాగా వారు బయలుదేరి, మారుమనస్సు పొందవలెనని ప్రక టించుచు

12. So they went out and preached that men should repent [that they should change their minds for the better and heartily amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins].

13. అనేక దయ్యములు వెళ్లగొట్టుచు నూనెరాచి అనేకులగు రోగులను స్వస్థపరచుచునుండిరి.

13. And they drove out many unclean spirits and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

14. ఆయన కీర్తి ప్రసిద్ధమాయెను గనుక రాజైన హేరోదు ఆయననుగూర్చి వినిబాప్తిస్మమిచ్చు యోహాను మృతులలోనుండి లేచియున్నాడు గనుక అతనియందు అద్భుత ములు క్రియారూపకములగుచున్నవని చెప్పెను.

14. King Herod heard of it, for [Jesus'] name had become well known. He and they [of his court] said, John the Baptist has been raised from the dead; that is why these mighty powers [of performing miracles] are at work in Him.

15. ఇతరులు ఈయన ఏలీయా అనియు, మరికొందరుఈయన ప్రవక్తయనియు, ప్రవక్తలలో ఒకనివలె నున్నాడనియు చెప్పుకొనుచుండిరి.

15. [But] others kept saying, It is Elijah! And others said, It is a prophet, like one of the prophets [of old].

16. అయితే హేరోదు వినినేను తల గొట్టించిన యోహానే; అతడు మృతులలోనుండి లేచి యున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

16. But when Herod heard [of it], he said, [This very] John, whom I beheaded, has been raised [from the dead].

17. హేరోదు తన సహోదరుడగు ఫిలిప్పు భార్యయైన హేరోదియను పెండ్లిచేసికొనినందున యోహానునీ సహోదరుని భార్యను చేర్చుకొనుట నీకు న్యాయము కాదని హేరోదుతో చెప్పెను గనుక

17. For [this] Herod himself had sent and seized John and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, because he [Herod] had married her.

18. ఇత డామె నిమిత్తము యోహానును పట్టి తెప్పించి, చెరసాలలో బంధించియుండెను.

18. For John had told Herod, It is not lawful and you have no right to have your brother's wife.

19. హేరోదియ అతని మీద పగపట్టి అతని చంపింప గోరెను గాని ఆమెచేత గాకపోయెను.

19. And Herodias was angry (enraged) with him and held a grudge against him and wanted to kill him; but she could not,

20. ఎందుకనగా యోహాను నీతిమంతుడును పరిశుద్ధుడునగు మనుష్యుడని హేరోదు ఎరిగి, అతనికి భయపడి అతని కాపాడుచు వచ్చెను. మరియు అతని మాటలు విని నప్పుడు, ఏమిచేయను తోచకపోయినను సంతోషముతో వినుచుండెను.

20. For Herod had [a reverential] fear of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and [continually] kept him safe [under guard]. When he heard [John speak], he was much perplexed; and [yet] he heard him gladly.

21. అయితే తగిన దినమొకటి వచ్చెను; ఎట్లనగా, హేరోదు తన జనన దినోత్సవమందు తన ప్రధానులకును సహస్రాధిపతులకును గలిలయదేశ ప్రముఖులకును విందు చేయించెను.

21. But an opportune time came [for Herodias] when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his nobles and the high military commanders and chief men of Galilee.

22. అప్పుడు హేరోదియ కుమార్తె లోపలికి వచ్చి నాట్యమాడి హేరోదును అతనితో కూడ పంక్తిని కూర్చున్నవారిని సంతోషపరచెను గనుక రాజునీకిష్టమైనది ఏదైనను నన్నడుగుము, నేను నీకిచ్చెదనని ఆ చిన్నదానితో చెప్పెను

22. For when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased and fascinated Herod and his guests; and the king said to the girl, Ask me for whatever you desire, and I will give it to you.

23. మరియు - నీవు నా రాజ్యములో సగముమట్టుకు ఏమి అడిగినను నీకిచ్చెదనని అతడు ఆమెతో ఒట్టుపెట్టుకొనెను
Ester 5 3-6:1, Ester 7 2:1

23. And he put himself under oath to her, Whatever you ask me, I will give it to you, even to the half of my kingdom. [Esth. 5:3, 6.]

24. గనుక ఆమె వెళ్లి - నేనేమి అడిగెదనని తన తల్లి నడుగగా ఆమె బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చు యోహాను తల అడుగుమనెను.

24. Then she left the room and said to her mother, What shall I ask for [myself]? And she replied, The head of John the Baptist!

25. వెంటనే ఆమె త్వరగా రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి - బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చు యోహాను తల పళ్లెములో పెట్టియిప్పుడే నాకిప్పింప గోరుచున్నానని చెప్పెను.

25. And she rushed back instantly to the king and requested, saying, I wish you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.

26. రాజు బహుగా దుఃఖపడెను గాని తాను పెట్టుకొనిన ఒట్టు నిమిత్తమును తనతో కూర్చుండియున్న వారి నిమిత్తమును ఆమెకు ఇయ్యను అననొల్లక పోయెను.

26. And the king was deeply pained and grieved and exceedingly sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to slight her [by breaking faith with her].

27. వెంటనే రాజు అతని తల తెమ్మని ఆజ్ఞాపించి యొక బంట్రౌతును పంపెను. వాడు వెళ్లి చెరసాలలో అతని తల గొట్టి

27. And immediately the king sent off one [of the soldiers] of his bodyguard and gave him orders to bring [John's] head. He went and beheaded him in the prison

28. పళ్లెములో అతని తల పెట్టి తెచ్చి ఆ చిన్న దాని కిచ్చెను, ఆ చిన్నది తన తల్లికిచ్చెను.

28. And brought his head on a platter and handed it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother.

29. యోహాను శిష్యులు ఈ సంగతి విని, వచ్చి శవమును ఎత్తికొనిపోయి సమాధిలో ఉంచిరి.

29. When his disciples learned of it, they came and took [John's] body and laid it in a tomb.

30. అంతట అపొస్తలులు యేసునొద్దకు కూడివచ్చి తాము చేసినవన్నియు బోధించినవన్నియు ఆయనకు తెలియ జేసిరి.

30. The apostles [sent out as missionaries] came back and gathered together to Jesus, and told Him all that they had done and taught.

31. అప్పుడాయన మీరేకాంతముగా అరణ్య ప్రదేశ మునకు వచ్చి, కొంచెముసేపు అలసట తీర్చుకొనుడని చెప్పెను; ఏలయనగా అనేకులు వచ్చుచు పోవుచు నుండి నందున, భోజనము చేయుటకైనను వారికి అవకాశము లేకపోయెను.

31. And He said to them, [As for you] come away by yourselves to a deserted place, and rest a while--for many were [continually] coming and going, and they had not even leisure enough to eat.

32. కాగా వారు దోనె యెక్కి అరణ్య ప్రదేశమునకు ఏకాంతముగా వెళ్లిరి.

32. And they went away in a boat to a solitary place by themselves.

33. వారు వెళ్లుచుండగా జనులు చూచి, అనేకులాయనను గుర్తెరిగి, సకల పట్టణముల నుండి అక్కడికి కాలినడకను పరుగెత్తి వారికంటె ముందుగా వచ్చిరి.

33. Now many [people] saw them going and recognized them, and they ran there on foot from all the surrounding towns, and they got there ahead [of those in the boat].

34. గనుక యేసు వచ్చి ఆ గొప్ప జన సమూహమును చూచి, వారు కాపరిలేని గొఱ్ఱెలవలె ఉన్నందున వారిమీద కనికరపడి, వారికి అనేక సంగతు లను బోధింప సాగెను.

34. As Jesus landed, He saw a great crowd waiting, and He was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things.

35. చాల ప్రొద్దుపోయిన తరువాత ఆయన శిష్యు లాయనయొద్దకు వచ్చిఇది అరణ్య ప్రదేశము, ఇప్పుడు చాల ప్రొద్దుపోయినది;

35. And when the day was already far gone, His disciples came to Him and said, This is a desolate and isolated place, and the hour is now late.

36. చుట్టుపట్ల ప్రదేశ ములకును గ్రామములకును వారు వెళ్లి భోజనమున కేమైనను కొనుక్కొనుటకు వారిని పంపి వేయుమని చెప్పిరి.

36. Send the crowds away to go into the country and villages round about and buy themselves something to eat.

37. అందుకాయన మీరు వారికి భోజనము పెట్టుడనగా వారుమేము వెళ్లి యీన్నూరు దేనారముల రొట్టెలు కొని వారికి పెట్టుదుమా అని ఆయన నడిగిరి.

37. But He replied to them, Give them something to eat yourselves. And they said to Him, Shall we go and buy 200 denarii [about forty dollars] worth of bread and give it to them to eat? [II Kings 4:42-44.]

38. అందుకాయన మీయొద్ద ఎన్ని రొట్టె లున్నవి? పోయి చూడుడనివారితో చెప్పెను. వారు చూచి తెలిసికొని అయిదు రొట్టెలును రెండు చేపలు నున్నవనిరి.

38. And He said to them, How many loaves do you have? Go and see. And when they [had looked and] knew, they said, Five [loaves] and two fish.

39. అప్పుడాయన పచ్చికమీద అందరు పంక్తులు పంక్తులుగా కూర్చుండవలెనని వారికాజ్ఞాపింపగా

39. Then He commanded the people all to recline on the green grass by companies.

40. వారు నూరేసి మంది చొప్పునను ఏబదేసిమంది చొప్పునను పంక్తులు తీరి కూర్చుండిరి.

40. So they threw themselves down in ranks of hundreds and fifties [with the regularity of an arrangement of beds of herbs, looking like so many garden plots].

41. అంతట ఆయన ఆ అయిదు రొట్టెలను రెండు చేపలను పట్టుకొని, ఆకాశమువైపు కన్నులెత్తి ఆశీర్వదించి, ఆ రొట్టెలు విరిచి, వారికి వడ్డించుటకు తన శిష్యులకిచ్చి, ఆ రెండు చేపలను అందరికిని పంచి

41. And taking the five loaves and two fish, He looked up to heaven and, praising God, gave thanks and broke the loaves and kept on giving them to the disciples to set before the people; and He [also] divided the two fish among [them] all.

42. వారందరు తిని తృప్తి పొందిన

42. And they all ate and were satisfied.

43. తరువాత మిగిలిన చేపలును రొట్టె ముక్కలును పండ్రెండు గంపెళ్లు ఎత్తిరి.

43. And they took up twelve [small hand] baskets full of broken pieces [from the loaves] and of the fish.

44. ఆ రొట్టెలు తినినవారు అయిదువేలమంది పురుషులు.

44. And those who ate the loaves were 5,000 men.

45. ఆయన జనసమూహమును పంపివేయునంతలో, దోనె ఎక్కి అద్దరినున్న బేత్సయిదాకు ముందుగా వెళ్లుడని ఆయన తన శిష్యులను వెంటనే బలవంతము చేసెను.

45. And at once He insisted that the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side to Bethsaida, while He was sending the throng away.

46. ఆయన వారిని వీడుకొలిపి, ప్రార్థనచేయుటకు కొండకు వెళ్లెను.

46. And after He had taken leave of them, He went off into the hills to pray.

47. సాయంకాలమైనప్పుడు ఆ దోనె సముద్రము మధ్య ఉండెను ఆయన ఒంటరిగా మెట్ట నుండెను.

47. Now when evening had come, the boat was out in the middle of the lake, and He was by Himself on the land.

48. అప్పుడు వారికి గాలి ఎదురైనందున, దోనె నడిపించుటలో వారు మిక్కిలి కష్టపడుచుండగా ఆయన చూచి, రాత్రి ఇంచు మించు నాలుగవ జామున సముద్రముమీద నడుచుచు వారియొద్దకు వచ్చి, వారిని దాటిపోవలెనని యుండెను.

48. And having seen that they were troubled and tormented in [their] rowing, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night [between 3:00-6:00 a.m.] He came to them, walking [directly] on the sea. And He acted as if He meant to pass by them,

49. ఆయన సముద్రముమీద నడుచుట వారు చూచి, భూత మని తలంచి కేకలు వేసిరి.

49. But when they saw Him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and raised a [deep, throaty] shriek of terror.

50. అందరు ఆయనను చూచి తొందరపడగా, వెంటనే ఆయన వారిని పలుకరించి ధైర్యము తెచ్చు కొనుడి, నేనే, భయపడకుడని చెప్పెను.

50. For they all saw Him and were agitated (troubled and filled with fear and dread). But immediately He talked with them and said, Take heart! I AM! Stop being alarmed and afraid. [Exod. 3:14.]

51. తరువాత ఆయన దోనె యెక్కి వారియొద్దకు వచ్చినప్పుడు గాలి అణగెను, అందుకు వారు తమలోతాము మిక్కిలి విభ్రాంతి నొందిరి;

51. And He went up into the boat with them, and the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its own beating). And they were astonished exceedingly [beyond measure],

52. అయినను వారి హృదయము కఠిన మాయెను గనుక వారు రొట్టెలనుగూర్చిన సంగతి గ్రహింపలేదు.

52. For they failed to consider or understand [the teaching and meaning of the miracle of] the loaves; [in fact] their hearts had grown callous [had become dull and had lost the power of understanding].

53. వారు అవతలకు వెళ్లి గెన్నేసరెతు దగ్గర ఒడ్డుకు వచ్చి దరి పట్టిరి.

53. And when they had crossed over, they reached the land of Gennesaret and came to [anchor at] the shore.

54. వారు దోనె దిగగానే, జనులు ఆయనను గురుతుపట్టి

54. As soon as they got out of the boat, [the people] recognized Him,

55. ఆ ప్రదేశమందంతట పరుగెత్తికొనిపోయి, ఆయన యున్నాడని వినినచోటునకు రోగులను మంచముల మీద మోసికొని వచ్చుటకు మొదలుపెట్టిరి.

55. And they ran about the whole countryside, and began to carry around sick people on their sleeping pads or mats to any place where they heard that He was.

56. గ్రామముల లోను పట్టణములలోను పల్లెటూళ్లలోను ఆయన యెక్క డెక్కడ ప్రవేశించెనో అక్కడి జనులు రోగులను సంత వీథులలో ఉంచి, వారిని ఆయన వస్త్రపుచెంగుమాత్రము ముట్టనిమ్మని ఆయనను వేడుకొనుచుండిరి. ఆయనను ముట్టిన వారందరు స్వస్థతనొందిరి.

56. And wherever He came into villages or cities or the country, they would lay the sick in the marketplaces and beg Him that they might touch even the fringe of His outer garment, and as many as touched Him were restored to health.
