1. Forasmuch(For as much) as many have taken in hand to compile a treatise of those things, which are surely known among us,

2. ఆరంభమునుండి కన్ను లార చూచి వాక్యసేవకులైనవారు మనకు అప్పగించిన ప్రకారము మనమధ్యను నెరవేరిన కార్యములనుగూర్చి వివరముగ వ్రాయుటకు అనేకులు పూనుకొన్నారు

2. even as they declared them unto us, which from the beginning saw them with their eyes,(saw their selves) and were ministers at the doing:

3. గనుక నీకు ఉపదేశింపబడిన సంగతులు నిశ్చయముగా జరిగినవని నీవు తెలిసికొనుటకు వాటినన్నిటిని మొదటనుండి తరచి పరిష్కారముగా తెలిసికొనియున్న నేనును నీ పేరట

3. I determined also, as soon as I had searched out diligently all things from the beggining, that then I would write(write the same orderly) unto thee, good Theophilus,

4. వాటినిగూర్చి వరుసగా రచించుట యుక్తమని యెంచితిని.

4. that thou mightest know the certainty of those things, whereof thou art informed.

5. యూదయదేశపు రాజైన హేరోదు దినములలో అబీయా తరగతిలోనున్న జెకర్యా అను ఒక యాజకుడుండెను. అతని భార్య అహరోను కుమార్తెలలో ఒకతె; ఆమె పేరు ఎలీసబెతు.

5. In the time of Herod (the) king of Jewry, there was a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abie. And his wife was of the daughters of Aaron: And her name was Elizabeth.

6. వీరిద్దరు ప్రభువుయొక్క సకల మైన ఆజ్ఞలచొప్పునను న్యాయవిధుల చొప్పునను నిరప రాధులుగా నడుచుకొనుచు దేవుని దృష్టికి నీతిమంతులై యుండిరి.

6. Both were perfect(righteous) before God, and walked in all the laws and ordinances(commandments and statutes) of the Lord that no man could find fault with them.(unreproveably)

7. ఎలీసబెతు గొడ్రాలైనందున వారికి పిల్లలు లేకపోయిరి; మరియు వారిద్దరు బహు కాలము గడచిన (వృద్ధులైరి. )

7. And they had no child, because that Elizabeth was barren; And both were well stricken in age.

8. జెకర్యా తన తరగతి క్రమముచొప్పున దేవునియెదుట యాజక ధర్మము జరిగించుచుండగా

8. (And) It came to pass, as he executed the priest's office, before God as his course came

9. యాజక మర్యాద చొప్పున ప్రభువు ఆలయములోనికి వెళ్లి ధూపమువేయుటకు అతనికి వంతు వచ్చెను.

9. (according to the custom of the priest's office) his lot was to burn odoures.(incense.) And (he) went into the temple of the Lord,

10. ధూప సమయమందు ప్రజల సమూహమంతయు వెలుపల ప్రార్థన చేయుచుండగా

10. and all the(whole) multitude of (the) people were without in their prayers while the odoures were(the incense was) a burning.

11. ప్రభువు దూత ధూపవేదిక కుడివైపున నిలిచి అతనికి కనబడగా

11. (And) There appeared unto him the Lord's angel,(an angel of the lorde) standing on the right side of the altar of odoures.(incense.)

12. జెకర్యా అతని చూచి, తొందరపడి భయపడిన వాడాయెను.

12. And when Zacharias saw him, he was abashed, and fear came on him.

13. అప్పుడా దూత అతనితోజెకర్యా భయ పడకుము; నీ ప్రార్థన వినబడినది, నీ భార్యయైన ఎలీసబెతు నీకు కుమారుని కనును, అతనికి యోహాను అను పేరు పెట్టుదువు.

13. (And) The angel said unto him: fear not Zacary, for thy prayer is heard: And thy wife Helizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John:

14. అతడు ప్రభువు దృష్టికి గొప్పవాడై, ద్రాక్షారసమైనను మద్యమైనను త్రాగక,

14. And thou shalt have joy and gladness: And many shall rejoice at his birth.

15. For he shall be great in the sight of God,(the Lord) and shall neither drink wine nor(ner) strong drink. And he shall be filled with the holy ghost, even in his mother's womb:

16. and many of the children of Israel shall he turn to their Lord God.(the LORDE their God)

17. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Helias to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the unbelievers(unfaithful) to the wisdom of the just men:(righteous) to make the people ready for the Lord.

18. And Zacary said unto the angel: Whereby shall I know this? seeing that I am old, and my wife well stricken in years.(age)

19. And the angel answered, and said unto him: I am Gabriel that stand in the presence of God,(stand before God) and am sent to speak unto thee: and to shew thee this(these) glad tidings.

20. And take heed(behold) thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak until the time that these things be performed, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

21. And the people waited for Zacharias and marveled that he tarried in the temple.

22. (And) When he came out, he could not speak unto them. And(Whereby) they perceived, that he had seen some vision in the temple. And he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

23. And it fortuned, as soon as the time of his office was out, he departed home into his own house. And after those days,

24. his wife Elizabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying:

25. నన్ను కటాక్షించిన దినములలో ప్రభువు ఈలాగున చేసెననుకొని, అయిదు నెలలు ఇతరుల కంట బడకుండెను.

25. This wise hath God dealt with me in the days when he looked on me, to take from me the rebuke that I suffered among men.

26. ఆరవ నెలలో గబ్రియేలను దేవదూత గలిలయలోని నజరేతను ఊరిలో

26. And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27. దావీదు వంశస్థుడైన యోసేపను ఒక పురుషునికి ప్రధానము చేయబడిన కన్యకయొద్దకు దేవుని చేత పంపబడెను. ఆ కన్యక పేరు మరియ.

27. to a virgin spoused to a man, whose name was Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary.

28. ఆ దూత లోపలికి వచ్చి ఆమెను చూచిదయాప్రాప్తురాలా నీకు శుభము; ప్రభువు నీకు తోడైయున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

28. And the angel went in unto her, and said: Hail full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29. When she saw him, she was abashed at his saying: and cast in her mind(thought) what manner of salutation that should be.

30. దూత మరియా, భయపడకుము; దేవునివలన నీవు కృపపొందితివి.

30. And the angel said unto her: fear not Mary,(for) thou hast found grace with God.

31. ఇదిగో నీవు గర్భము ధరించి కుమారుని కని ఆయనకు యేసు అను పేరు పెట్టుదువు;

31. Lo: thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bear a child,(son) and shalt call his name Jesus.

32. He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the highest.(Hyest) And the Lord God shall give unto him the seat of his father David:

33. And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom shall be none end.

34. Then said Mary unto the angel: How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35. దూతపరిశుద్ధాత్మ నీమీదికి వచ్చును; సర్వోన్నతుని శక్తి నిన్ను కమ్ముకొనును గనుక పుట్టబోవు శిశువు పరిశుద్ధుడై దేవుని కుమారుడనబడును.

35. And the angel answered, and said unto her: The holy ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest(Hyest) shall overshadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing which shall be born, shall be called the son of God.

36. And mark,(behold) thy cousin Elizabeth, (she) hath also conceived a son in her old age. And this is the(her) sixth month to her, which was(though she be) called barren,(which is reported to be barren)

37. for with God shall(can) nothing be unpossible.

38. అందుకు మరియ ఇదిగో ప్రభువు దాసురాలను; నీ మాట చొప్పున నాకు జరుగును గాక అనెను. అంతట దూత ఆమెయొద్ద నుండి వెళ్లెను.

38. (And) Mary said: behold the handmaiden of the Lord, be it unto me even as thou hast said. And the angel departed from her.

39. ఆ దినములయందు మరియ లేచి యూదా ప్రదేశ ము లోని కొండ సీమలోనున్న ఒక ఊరికి త్వరగా వెళ్లి

39. (And) Mary arose in those days, and went into the mountains with haste into a city of Jewry,(Iurie)

40. జెకర్యా యింటిలో ప్రవేశించి, ఎలీసబెతుకు వందనము చేసెను.

40. and entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth:

41. ఎలీసబెతు మరియయొక్క వందనవచనము విన గానే, ఆమె గర్భములో శిశువు గంతులు వేసెను. అంతట ఎలీసబెతు పరిశుద్ధాత్మతో నిండుకొనినదై బిగ్గరగా ఇట్లనెను

41. And it fortuned, as Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe sprang in her belly.(womb) And Elizabeth was filled with the holy ghost,

42. స్త్రీలలో నీవు ఆశీర్వదింపబడినదానవు నీ గర్భఫలమును ఆశీర్వదింపబడును

42. and cried with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among the women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43. And whence happeneth this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44. ఇదిగో నీ శుభవచనము నా చెవినిపడగానే నా గర్భములోని శిశువు ఆనందముతో గంతులు వేసెను.

44. (For) Lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe sprang in my belly for joy.

45. ప్రభువు ఆమెకు తెలియజేయించిన మాటలు సిద్ధించును గనుక నమ్మిన ఆమె ధన్యురాలనెను.

45. And blessed art thou that believedst: For those things shall be performed which were told thee from the Lord.

46. అప్పుడు మరియ యిట్లనెను నా ప్రాణము ప్రభువును ఘనపరచుచున్నది.

46. And Mary said: My soul magnifieth the Lord.

47. And my spirit rejoiceth in God my saviour:

48. For he hath looked on the poor degree of his handmaiden. Behold now from hence forth shall all generations call me blessed.

49. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things, and blessed(holy) is his name.

51. He hath shewed(sheweth) strength with his arm, he hath scattered(scattereth) them that are proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52. He hath put(putteth) Down the mighty from their seats, and hath exalted them of low degree.

55. Even as he promised to our fathers, Abraham and to his seed for ever.

56. And Mary abode with her about a three months; And returned home again.(to her own house.)

57. Elizabeth's time was come that she should be delivered; And she brought forth a son.

58. అప్పుడు ప్రభువు ఆమెమీద మహాకనికరముంచెనని ఆమె పొరుగువారును బంధువులును విని ఆమెతో కూడ సంతోషించిరి.

58. And her neighbours and her cousins(kinsfolks) heard tell how, the Lord had magnified his(shewed great) mercy upon her, and they rejoiced with her.

59. ఎనిమిదవ దినమున వారు ఆ శిశువుకు సున్నతి చేయవచ్చి, తండ్రి పేరునుబట్టి జెకర్యా అను పేరు వానికి పెట్టబోవుచుండగా

59. And it fortuned the eighth day: they came to circumcise the child: and called his name Zacari after the name of his father,

60. తల్లి ఆలాగు వద్దు; వానికి యోహానను పేరు పెట్టవలెనని చెప్పెను.

60. and(Howbeit) his mother answered, and said: not so, but he shall be called John.

61. అందుకు వారు నీ బంధువులలో ఆ పేరు గలవాడెవడును లేడే అని ఆమెతో చెప్పి

61. And they said unto her: There is none of thy kin, that is named with this name.

62. వానికి ఏ పేరు పెట్టగోరు చున్నావని వాని తండ్రికి సంజ్ఞలుచేసి అడిగిరి.

62. And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

63. అతడు వ్రాతపలక తెమ్మని వాని పేరు యోహానని వ్రాసెను; అందుకు వారందరు ఆశ్చర్యపడిరి.

63. And he asked for writing tables and wrote saying: his name is John. And they marveled all.

64. వెంటనే అతని నోరు తెరవబడి, నాలుక సడలి, అతడు దేవుని స్తుతించుచు మాటలాడసాగెను.

64. And his mouth(mought) was opened immediately, and his tongue, (also) and he spake lauding God.

65. అందునుబట్టి వారి చుట్టుపట్ల కాపురమున్న వారికందరికిని భయము కలిగెను. ఆ సంగతులన్నియు యూదయ కొండసీమలయందంతట ప్రచుర మాయెను.

65. And fear came on all them that dwelt nigh: (unto them.) And all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Jewry:(Iurie)

66. ప్రభువు హస్తము అతనికి తోడైయుండెను గనుక ఆ సంగతులను గూర్చి వినినవారందరును ఈ బిడ్డ యేలాటివాడగునో అని వాటిని మనస్సులో ఉంచుకొనిరి.

66. and all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying: What manner child shall this be? And the hand of God(the Lorde) was with him.

67. మరియు అతని తండ్రి జెకర్యా పరిశుద్ధాత్మ పూర్ణుడై యిట్లు ప్రవచించెను

67. And his father Zacharias was filled with the holy ghost, and prophesied saying:

68. ప్రభువైన ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడు స్తుతింపబడునుగాక

71. That we should be saved from our enemies: And from the hands of all that hate us:

72. To shew mercy towards(To fulfil the mercy promised to) our fathers; And to remember his holy promise.(covenant.)

73. ఆయన మన పితరులను కరుణించుటకును తన పరిశుద్ధ నిబంధనను, అనగా మన తండ్రియైన

73. That is to say(And to perform) the oath, which he sware to our father Abraham, for to give us.

74. అబ్రాహాముతో తాను చేసిన ప్రమాణమును జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుటకును

74. That we delivered out of the hands of our enemies, might serve him without fear:

75. మనము శత్రువుల చేతినుండి విడిపింపబడి, మన జీవిత కాలమంతయు నిర్భయులమై, ఆయన సన్నిధిని

75. all the days of our life, in such holiness and righteousness that are accept before him.

76. పరిశుద్ధముగాను నీతిగాను ఆయనను సేవింపను అనుగ్రహించుటకును ఈ రక్షణ కలుగజేసెను.

76. And thou child, shalt be called the prophet of the highest, for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, to prepare his ways:

77. మరియు ఓ శిశువా, నీవు సర్వోన్నతుని ప్రవక్తవన బడుదువు మన దేవుని మహా వాత్సల్యమునుబట్టి వారి పాపము లను క్షమించుటవలన

77. And to give knowledge of health(salvation) unto his people, for the remission of sins:

78. తన ప్రజలకు రక్షణజ్ఞానము ఆయన అనుగ్రహించు నట్లు ఆయన మార్గములను సిద్ధపరచుటకై నీవు ప్రభువునకు ముందుగా నడుతువు.

78. Through the tender mercy of our Lord,(God, whereby) wherewith hath visited us the day spring from on high:

79. మన పాదములను సమాధాన మార్గములోనికి నడిపించునట్లు చీకటిలోను మరణచ్ఛాయలోను కూర్చుండువారికి వెలుగిచ్చుటకై ఆ మహా వాత్సల్యమునుబట్టి పైనుండి ఆయన మనకు అరుణోదయ దర్శనమనుగ్రహించెను.

79. To give light to them that sat in darkness, and in shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

80. శిశువు ఎదిగి, ఆత్మయందు బలము పొంది, ఇశ్రాయేలు నకు ప్రత్యక్షమగు దినమువరకు అరణ్య ములో నుండెను.

80. And the child increased(grew) and waxed strong in spirit, and was in wilderness, till the day came, when he should shew himself unto the Israhelites.
