1. కాబట్టి యేసు తాను మృతులలోనుండి లేపిన లాజరు ఉన్న బేతనియకు పస్కాపండుగకు ఆరు దినములు ముందుగా వచ్చెను. అక్కడ వారు ఆయనకు విందు చేసిరి.

1. SO SIX days before the Passover Feast, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had died and whom He had raised from the dead.

2. మార్త ఉపచారము చేసెను; లాజరు ఆయనతో కూడ భోజమునకు కూర్చున్నవారిలో ఒకడు.

2. So they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those at the table with Him.

3. అప్పుడు మరియ మిక్కిలి విలువగల అచ్చ జటామాంసి అత్తరు ఒక సేరున్నర యెత్తు తీసికొని, యేసు పాదములకు పూసి తన తలవెండ్రుకలతో ఆయన పాదములు తుడిచెను; ఇల్లు ఆ అత్తరు వాసనతో నిండెను

3. Mary took a pound of ointment of pure liquid nard [a rare perfume] that was very expensive, and she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped them with her hair. And the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4. ఆయన శిష్యులలో ఒకడు అనగా ఆయనను అప్పగింపనైయున్న ఇస్కరియోతు యూదా

4. But Judas Iscariot, the one of His disciples who was about to betray Him, said,

5. యీ అత్తరెందుకు మూడు వందల దేనార ములకు అమ్మి బీదలకు ఇయ్యలేదనెను.

5. Why was this perfume not sold for 300 denarii [a year's wages for an ordinary workman] and that [money] given to the poor (the destitute)?

6. వాడీలాగు చెప్పినది బీదలమీద శ్రధ్ధకలిగి కాదుగాని వాడు దొంగయై యుండి, తన దగ్గర డబ్బు సంచియుండినందున అందులో వేయబడినది దొంగిలించుచు వచ్చెను గనుక ఆలాగు చెప్పెను.

6. Now he did not say this because he cared for the poor but because he was a thief; and having the bag (the money box, the purse of the Twelve), he took for himself what was put into it [pilfering the collections].

7. కాబట్టి యేసునన్ను పాతిపెట్టు దినమునకు ఆమెను దీని నుంచుకొననియ్యుడి;

7. But Jesus said, Let her alone. It was [intended] that she should keep it for the time of My preparation for burial. [She has kept it that she might have it for the time of My embalming.]

8. బీదలు ఎల్లప్పు డును మీతో కూడ ఉందురుగాని నేనెల్లప్పుడు మీతో ఉండనని చెప్పెను.

8. You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.

9. కాబట్టి యూదులలో సామాన్యజనులు ఆయన అక్కడ ఉన్నాడని తెలిసికొని, యేసును చూచుటకు మాత్రమే గాక మృతులలోనుండి ఆయన లేపిన లాజరునుకూడ చూడవచ్చిరి.

9. Now a great crowd of the Jews heard that He was at Bethany, and they came there, not only because of Jesus but that they also might see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

10. అతనినిబట్టి యూదులలో అనేకులు తమవారిని విడిచి యేసునందు విశ్వాస ముంచిరి గనుక

10. So the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also,

11. ప్రధానయాజకులు లాజరునుకూడ చంప నాలోచనచేసిరి.

11. Because on account of him many of the Jews were going away [were withdrawing from and leaving the Judeans] and believing in and adhering to Jesus.

12. మరునాడు ఆ పండుగకు వచ్చిన బహు జనసమూ హము యేసు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చుచున్నాడని విని

12. The next day a vast crowd of those who had come to the Passover Feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

13. ఖర్జూరపుమట్టలు పట్టుకొని ఆయనను ఎదుర్కొనబోయి జయము, ప్రభువు పేరట వచ్చుచున్న ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు స్తుతింపబడునుగాక అని కేకలువేసిరి.

13. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him. And as they went, they kept shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is He and praise to Him Who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel! [Ps. 118:26.]

14. సీయోను కుమారీ, భయపడకుము, ఇదిగో నీ రాజు గాడిదపిల్లమీద ఆసీనుడై వచ్చుచున్నాడు

14. And Jesus, having found a young donkey, rode upon it, [just] as it is written in the Scriptures,

15. అని వ్రాయబడిన ప్రకారము యేసు ఒక చిన్న గాడిదను కనుగొని దానిమీద కూర్చుండెను.

15. Do not fear, O Daughter of Zion! Look! Your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt! [Zech. 9:9.]

16. ఆయన శిష్యులు ఈ మాటలు మొదట గ్రహింపలేదు గాని యేసు మహిమ పరచబడినప్పుడు అవి ఆయనను గూర్చి వ్రాయబడెననియు, వారాయనకు వాటిని చేసిరనియు జ్ఞాపకమునకు తెచ్చు కొనిరి.

16. His disciples did not understand and could not comprehend the meaning of these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified and exalted, they remembered that these things had been written about Him and had been done to Him.

17. ఆయన లాజరును సమాధిలోనుండి పిలిచి మృతు లలోనుండి అతని లేపినప్పుడు, ఆయనతో కూడ ఉండిన జనులు సాక్ష్యమిచ్చిరి.

17. The group that had been with Jesus when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from among the dead kept telling it [bearing witness] to others.

18. అందుచేత ఆయన ఆ సూచక క్రియ చేసెనని జనులు విని ఆయనను ఎదుర్కొన బోయిరి.

18. It was for this reason that the crowd went out to meet Him, because they had heard that He had performed this sign (proof, miracle).

19. కావున పరిసయ్యులు ఒకరితో ఒకరు మన ప్రయత్నములెట్లు నిష్‌ప్రయోజనమై పోయినవో చూడుడి. ఇదిగో లోకము ఆయనవెంట పోయినదని చెప్పుకొనిరి.

19. Then the Pharisees said among themselves, You see how futile your efforts are and how you accomplish nothing. See! The whole world is running after Him!

20. ఆ పండుగలో ఆరాధింపవచ్చినవారిలో కొందరు గ్రీసుదేశస్థులు ఉండిరి.

20. Now among those who went up to worship at the Feast were some Greeks.

21. వారు గలిలయలోని బేత్సయిదా వాడైన ఫిలిప్పునొద్దకు వచ్చి అయ్యా, మేము యేసును చూడగోరుచున్నామని అతనితో చెప్పగా

21. These came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and they made this request, Sir, we desire to see Jesus.

22. ఫిలిప్పు వచ్చి అంద్రెయతో చెప్పెను, అంద్రెయయు ఫిలిప్పును వచ్చి యేసుతో చెప్పిరి.

22. Philip came and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip together [went] and told Jesus.

23. అందుకు యేసు వారితో ఇట్లనెను మనుష్యకుమారుడు మహిమ పొందవలసిన గడియ వచ్చి యున్నది.

23. And Jesus answered them, The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified and exalted.

24. గోధుమగింజ భూమిలో పడి చావకుండిన యెడల అది ఒంటిగానే యుండును; అది చచ్చిన యెడల విస్తారముగా ఫలించును.

24. I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains [just one grain; it never becomes more but lives] by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces many others and yields a rich harvest.

25. తన ప్రాణమును ప్రేమించు వాడు దానిని పోగొట్టుకొనును, ఈ లోకములో తన ప్రాణమును ద్వేషించువాడు నిత్యజీవముకొరకు దానిని కాపాడుకొనునని మీతో నిశ్చయముగా చెప్పుచున్నాను.

25. Anyone who loves his life loses it, but anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. [Whoever has no love for, no concern for, no regard for his life here on earth, but despises it, preserves his life forever and ever.]

26. ఒకడు నన్ను సేవించినయెడల నన్ను వెంబడింపవలెను; అప్పుడు నేను ఎక్కడ ఉందునో అక్కడ నా సేవకుడును ఉండును; ఒకడు నన్ను సేవించినయెడల నా తండ్రి అతని ఘనపరచును.

26. If anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow Me [to cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying] and wherever I am, there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

27. ఇప్పుడు నా ప్రాణము కలవరపడుచున్నది; నే నేమందును?తండ్రీ, యీ గడియ తటస్థింపకుండనన్ను తప్పించుము; అయి నను ఇందుకోసరమే నేను ఈ గడియకు వచ్చితిని;

27. Now My soul is troubled and distressed, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour [of trial and agony]? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour [that I might undergo it].

28. తండ్రీ, నీ నామము మహిమపరచు మని చెప్పెను. అంతటనేను దానిని మహిమపరచితిని, మరల మహిమ పరతును అని యొక శబ్దము ఆకాశము నుండి వచ్చెను.

28. [Rather, I will say,] Father, glorify (honor and extol) Your [own] name! Then there came a voice out of heaven saying, I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again.

29. కాబట్టి అక్కడ నిలుచుండి వినిన జన సమూహము ఉరిమెను అనిరి. మరికొందరు దేవదూత ఒకడు ఆయనతో మాటలాడెననిరి.

29. The crowd of bystanders heard the sound and said that it had thundered; others said, An angel has spoken to Him!

30. అందుకు యేసు ఈ శబ్దము నాకొరకు రాలేదు, మీకొరకే వచ్చెను.

30. Jesus answered, This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sake.

31. ఇప్పుడు ఈ లోకమునకు తీర్పు జరుగుచున్నది, ఇప్పుడు ఈ లోకాధికారి బయటకు త్రోసివేయబడును;

31. Now the judgment (crisis) of this world is coming on [sentence is now being passed on this world]. Now the ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world shall be cast out (expelled).

32. నేను భూమిమీదనుండి పైకెత్తబడినయెడల అందరిని నాయొద్దకు ఆకర్షించుకొందునని చెప్పెను.

32. And I, if and when I am lifted up from the earth [on the cross], will draw and attract all men [Gentiles as well as Jews] to Myself.

33. తాను ఏవిధముగా మరణము పొందవలసి యుండెనో సూచించుచు ఆయన ఈ మాట చెప్పెను.

33. He said this to signify in what manner He would die.

34. జనసమూహము క్రీస్తు ఎల్లప్పుడు ఉండునని ధర్మశాస్త్రము చెప్పుట వింటిమి. మనుష్యకుమారుడు పైకెత్తబడవలెనని నీవు చెప్పుచున్న సంగతి ఏమిటి? మనుష్య కుమారుడగు ఈయన ఎవరని ఆయన నడిగిరి.

34. At this the people answered Him, We have learned from the Law that the Christ is to remain forever; how then can You say, The Son of Man must be lifted up [on the cross]? Who is this Son of Man? [Ps. 110:4.]

35. అందుకు యేసుఇంక కొంతకాలము వెలుగు మీ మధ్య ఉండును; చీకటి మిమ్మును కమ్ముకొనకుండునట్లు మీకు వెలుగు ఉండగనే నడవుడి; చీకటిలో నడుచువాడు తాను ఎక్కడికి పోవుచున్నాడో యెరుగడు.

35. So Jesus said to them, You will have the Light only a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light [keep on living by it], so that darkness may not overtake and overcome you. He who walks about in the dark does not know where he goes [he is drifting].

36. మీరు వెలుగు సంబంధులగునట్లు మీకు వెలుగుండగనే వెలుగునందు విశ్వాసముంచుడని వారితో చెప్పెను.

36. While you have the Light, believe in the Light [have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it], that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light. Jesus said these things, and then He went away and hid Himself from them [was lost to their view].

37. యేసు ఈ మాటలు చెప్పి వెళ్లి వారికి కనబడకుండ దాగియుండెను. ఆయన వారి యెదుట యిన్ని సూచక క్రియలు చేసినను వారాయనయందు విశ్వాసముంచరైరి.

37. Even though He had done so many miracles before them (right before their eyes), yet they still did not trust in Him and failed to believe in Him--

38. ప్రభువా, మా వర్తమానము నమ్మినవాడెవడు? ప్రభువుయొక్క బాహువు ఎవనికి బయలుపరచ బడెను? అని ప్రవక్తయైన యెషయా చెప్పిన వాక్యము నెరవేరునట్లు ఇది జరిగెను.
యెషయా 53:1

38. So that what Isaiah the prophet said was fulfilled: Lord, who has believed our report and our message? And to whom has the arm (the power) of the Lord been shown (unveiled and revealed)? [Isa. 53:1.]

39. ఇందుచేత వారు నమ్మలేక పోయిరి, ఏలయనగా

39. Therefore they could not believe [they were unable to believe]. For Isaiah has also said,

40. వారు కన్నులతో చూచి హృదయముతో గ్రహించి మనస్సు మార్చుకొని నావలన స్వస్థపరచబడకుండు నట్లు ఆయన వారి కన్నులకు అంధత్వము కలుగజేసి వారి హృదయము కఠినపరచెను అని యెషయా మరియొక చోట చెప్పెను.
యెషయా 6:9-10

40. He has blinded their eyes and hardened and benumbed their [callous, degenerated] hearts [He has made their minds dull], to keep them from seeing with their eyes and understanding with their hearts and minds and repenting and turning to Me to heal them.

41. యెషయా ఆయన మహిమను చూచినందున ఆయననుగూర్చి ఈ మాటలు చెప్పెను.

41. Isaiah said this because he saw His glory and spoke of Him. [Isa. 6:9, 10.]

42. అయినను అధికారులలో కూడ అనేకులు ఆయనయందు విశ్వాసముంచిరిగాని, సమాజములో నుండి వెలివేయబడుదుమేమో యని పరిసయ్యులకు భయపడి వారు ఒప్పుకొనలేదు.

42. And yet [in spite of all this] many even of the leading men (the authorities and the nobles) believed and trusted in Him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, for fear that [if they should acknowledge Him] they would be expelled from the synagogue;

43. వారు దేవుని మెప్పుకంటె మనుష్యుల మెప్పును ఎక్కువగా అపేక్షించిరి.

43. For they loved the approval and the praise and the glory that come from men [instead of and] more than the glory that comes from God. [They valued their credit with men more than their credit with God.]

44. అంతట యేసు బిగ్గరగా ఇట్లనెనునాయందు విశ్వాస ముంచువాడు నాయందు కాదు నన్ను పంపినవానియందే విశ్వాసముంచుచున్నాడు.

44. But Jesus loudly declared, The one who believes in Me does not [only] believe in and trust in and rely on Me, but [in believing in Me he believes] in Him Who sent Me.

45. నన్ను చూచువాడు నన్ను పంపినవానినే చూచుచున్నాడు.

45. And whoever sees Me sees Him Who sent Me.

46. నాయందు విశ్వాసముంచు ప్రతివాడు చీకటిలో నిలిచి యుండకుండునట్లు నేను ఈ లోకమునకు వెలుగుగా వచ్చియున్నాను.

46. I have come as a Light into the world, so that whoever believes in Me [whoever cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] may not continue to live in darkness.

47. ఎవడైనను నా మాటలు వినియు వాటిని గైకొనకుండిన యెడల నే నతనికి తీర్పుతీర్చను; నేను లోకమునకు తీర్పు తీర్చుటకు రాలేదు గాని లోకమును రక్షించుటకే వచ్చి తిని.

47. If anyone hears My teachings and fails to observe them [does not keep them, but disregards them], it is not I who judges him. For I have not come to judge and to condemn and to pass sentence and to inflict penalty on the world, but to save the world.

48. నన్ను నిరాకరించి నా మాటలను అంగీకరింపని వానికి తీర్పు తీర్చువాడొకడు కలడు; నేను చెప్పినమాటయే అంత్యదినమందు వానికి తీర్పు తీర్చును.

48. Anyone who rejects Me and persistently sets Me at naught, refusing to accept My teachings, has his judge [however]; for the [very] message that I have spoken will itself judge and convict him at the last day.

49. ఏలయనగా నా అంతట నేనే మాటలాడలేదు; నేను ఏమనవలెనో యేమి మాటలాడవలెనో దానినిగూర్చి నన్ను పంపిన తండ్రియే నాకాజ్ఞ యిచ్చియున్నాడు.

49. This is because I have never spoken on My own authority or of My own accord or as self-appointed, but the Father Who sent Me has Himself given Me orders [concerning] what to say and what to tell. [Deut. 18:18, 19.]

50. మరియు ఆయన ఆజ్ఞ నిత్యజీవమని నేనెరుగుదును గనుక నేను చెప్పు సంగతులను తండ్రి నాతో చెప్పిన ప్రకారము చెప్పుచున్నాననెను.

50. And I know that His commandment is (means) eternal life. So whatever I speak, I am saying [exactly] what My Father has told Me to say and in accordance with His instructions.
