1. ఇటలీ పటాలమనబడిన పటాలములో శతాధిపతి యైన కొర్నేలీ అను భక్తిపరుడొకడు కైసరయలో ఉండెను.

1. There was a certain man in Cesarea called Cornelius, a captain of the soldiers of Italy,

2. అతడు తన యింటి వారందరితోకూడ దేవుని యందు భయభక్తులు గలవాడైయుండి, ప్రజలకు బహు ధర్మము చేయుచు ఎల్లప్పుడును దేవునికి ప్రార్థన చేయు వాడు.

2. a devout man, and one that feared God with all his household, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed God always.

3. పగలు ఇంచుమించు మూడు గంటలవేళ దేవుని దూత అతనియొద్దకు వచ్చి కొర్నేలీ, అని పిలుచుట దర్శనమందు తేటగా అతనికి కనబడెను.

3. The same man saw in a vision evidently(openly) about the ninth hour of the day the(an) angel of God coming in unto(into) him, and saying unto him: Cornelius,

4. అతడు దూత వైపు తేరి చూచి భయపడి ప్రభువా, యేమని అడిగెను. అందుకు దూతనీ ప్రార్థనలును నీ ధర్మకార్యములును దేవుని సన్నిధికి జ్ఞాపకార్థముగా చేరినవి.

4. when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said: what is it Lord? He said unto him: Thy prayers and thy alms are come up into remembrance in the presence of(before) God.

5. ఇప్పుడు నీవు యొప్పేకు మనుష్యులను పంపి, పేతురు అను మారు పేరుగల సీమోనును పిలిపించుము;

5. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon named also Peter.

6. అతడు సముద్రపు దరినున్న సీమోనను ఒక చర్మకారుని యింట దిగియున్నాడని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

6. He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside. He shall tell thee, what thou oughtest to do.

7. అతనితో మాటలాడిన దూతవెళ్లిన పిమ్మట అతడు తన యింటి పనివారిలో ఇద్దరిని, తన యొద్ద ఎల్లప్పుడు కనిపెట్టుకొని యుండువారిలో భక్తి పరుడగు ఒక సైనికుని పిలిచి

7. When the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household, (servants) and a devout soldier of them that waited on him,

8. వారికి ఈసంగతులన్నియు వివరించి వారిని యొప్పేకు పంపెను.

8. to whom he told(and told them) all the matter, and sent them to Joppa.

9. మరునాడు వారు ప్రయాణమైపోయి పట్టణమునకు సమీపించినప్పుడు పగలు ఇంచుమించు పండ్రెండు గంటలకు పేతురు ప్రార్థనచేయుటకు మిద్దెమీది కెక్కెను.

9. On the morrow as they went on their journey and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up into the uppermost part(upon the top) of the house to pray, about the sixth hour.

10. అతడు మిక్కిలి ఆకలిగొని భోజనము చేయగోరెను; ఇంటివారు సిద్ధము చేయుచుండగా అతడు పరవశుడై

10. Then waxed he an hungered, and would have eaten; (But) while they made ready for him. He fell into a trance,

11. ఆకాశము తెరవబడుటయు, నాలుగు చెంగులు పట్టి దింపబడిన పెద్ద దుప్పటివంటి యొకవిధమైన పాత్ర భూమిమీదికి దిగివచ్చుటయు చూచెను.

11. and saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel come down unto him, as it had been a great sheet, knit at the four corners, and was let down to the earth,

12. అందులో భూమి యందుండు సకల విధములైన చతుష్పాద జంతువులును, ప్రాకు పురుగులును, ఆకాశపక్షులును ఉండెను.

12. wherein were all manner of four footed beasts of the earth and vermin and worms, and fouls of the air.

13. అప్పుడు పేతురూ, నీవు లేచి చంపుకొని తినుమని ఒక శబ్దమతనికి వినబడెను.

13. And(there came) a voice spake unto him from heaven: Rise Peter Kill and eat.

14. అయితే పేతురువద్దు ప్రభువా, నిషిద్ధమైనది అపవిత్ర మైనది ఏదైనను నేనెన్నడును తినలేదని చెప్పగా

14. (But) Peter said: God forbid Lord, for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15. దేవుడు పవిత్రము చేసినవాటిని నీవు నిషిద్ధమైన వాటినిగా ఎంచవద్దని మరల రెండవ మారు ఆ శబ్దము అతనికి వినబడెను.

15. And the voice spake unto him again the second time: What God hath cleansed that make thou not common.(unclean)

16. ఈలాగు ముమ్మారు జరిగెను. వెంటనే ఆ పాత్ర ఆకాశమున కెత్తబడెను.

16. This was done thrice; And the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17. పేతురు తనకు కలిగిన దర్శనమేమై యుండునో అని తనలో తనకు ఎటుతోచక యుండగా, కొర్నేలి పంపిన మనుష్యులు సీమోను ఇల్లు ఏదని విచారించి తెలిసికొని, వాకిట నిలిచి యింటివారిని పిలిచి

17. While Peter mused in himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius, had made inquirance for Simon's house, and stood before the door.

18. పేతురు అను మారుపేరుగల సీమోను ఇక్కడ దిగియున్నాడా? అని అడిగిరి

18. And called out one and asked whether Simon which was also called Peter, were lodged there.

19. పేతురు ఆ దర్శనమునుగూర్చి యోచించుచుండగా ఆత్మ ఇదిగో ముగ్గురు మనుష్యులు నిన్ను వెదకు చున్నారు.

19. While Peter thought on this vision, the spirit said unto him: Lo,(Behold) men seek thee: arise therefore, get thee down,

20. నీవు లేచి క్రిందికిదిగి, సందేహింపక వారితో కూడ వెళ్లుము; నేను వారిని పంపియున్నానని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

20. and go with them, and doubt not. For I have sent them.

21. పేతురు ఆ మనుష్యులయొద్దకు దిగి వచ్చిఇదిగో మీరు వెదకువాడను నేనే; మీరు వచ్చిన కారణ మేమని అడిగెను.

21. Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius, and said: Lo,(Behold) I am he, whom ye seek, what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22. అందుకు వారునీతిమంతుడును, దేవునికి భయపడువాడును, యూద జనులందరివలన మంచిపేరు పొందినవాడునైన శతాధిపతియగు కొర్నేలియను ఒక మనుష్యుడున్నాడు; అతడు నిన్ను తన యింటికి పిలువనంపించి నీవు చెప్పు మాటలు వినవలెనని పరిశుద్ధదూత వలన బోధింపబడెనని చెప్పిరి; అప్పుడు అతడు వారిని లోపలికి పిలిచి ఆతిథ్యమిచ్చెను.

22. (And) They said unto him: Cornelius the captain a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the people of the jews was warned by an holy angel, to send for thee in to his house, and to hear words of thee.

23. మరునాడు అతడు లేచి, వారితోకూడ బయలుదేరెను; యొప్పేవారైన కొందరు సహోదరులును వారితోకూడ వెళ్లిరి.

23. Then called he them in, and lodged them. (And) On the morrow Peter went (away) with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24. మరునాడు వారు కైసరయలో ప్రవేశించిరి. అప్పుడు కొర్నేలి తన బంధువులను ముఖ్య స్నేహితులను పిలిపించి వారికొరకు కనిపెట్టుకొని యుండెను.

24. And the third day entered(the day following came) they into Cesaria. (And) Cornelius waited for them, and had called together(to gether) his kinsmen, and special friends.

25. పేతురు లోపలికి రాగా కొర్నేలి అతనిని ఎదుర్కొని అతని పాద ములమీద పడి నమస్కారము చేసెను.

25. And as it chanced Peter to come in; Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26. అందుకు పేతురునీవు లేచి నిలువుము, నేనుకూడ నరుడనే అని చెప్పి అతని లేవనెత్తి

26. (But) Peter took him up, saying: (stand up: for) Even I myself am a man.

27. అతనితో మాటలాడుచు లోపలికి వచ్చి, అనేకులు కూడియుండుట చూచెను.

27. And as he talked with him he came in, and found many that were come together.(to gether)

28. అప్పుడతడు అన్యజాతివానితో సహవాసము చేయుటయైనను, అట్టివానిని ముట్టుకొనుటయైనను యూదునికి ధర్మముకాదని మీకు తెలియును. అయితే ఏ మనుష్యుడును నిషేధింప దగినవాడనియైన అపవిత్రుడనియైనను చెప్పకూడదని దేవుడు నాకు చూపించియున్నాడు.

28. And he said unto them: Ye do know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a jew to company or come unto an alien:(stranger) But God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean:

29. కాబట్టి నన్ను పిలిచినప్పుడు అడ్డమేమియు చెప్పక వచ్చితిని గనుక, ఎందునిమిత్తము నన్ను పిలువ నంపితిరో దానినిగూర్చి అడుగు చున్నానని వారితో చెప్పెను.

29. therefore came I unto you without scruple,(saying nay) as soon as I was sent for. I ask therefore: for what intent have ye sent for me?

30. అందుకు కొర్నేలి నాలుగు దినముల క్రిందట పగలు మూడుగంటలు మొదలు కొని యీ వేళవరకు నేను ఇంట ప్రార్థన చేయుచుండగా ప్రకాశమానమైన వస్త్రములు ధరించిన వాడొకడు యెదుట నిలిచి

30. And Cornelius said: This day now four days I fasted, and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31. కొర్నేలీ, నీ ప్రార్థన వినబడెను; నీ ధర్మకార్యములు దేవుని సముఖమందు జ్ఞాపకముంచబడి యున్నవి గనుక నీవు యొప్పేకు వర్తమానము పంపి

31. and said: Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms deeds are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32. పేతురు అను మారుపేరుగల సీమోనును పిలిపించుము; అతడు సముద్రపు దరినున్న చర్మకారుడైన సీమోను ఇంట దిగియున్నాడని నాతో చెప్పెను.

32. Send therefore to Joppa, and call for Simon which is also called Peter. He is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the seaside, the which as soon as he is come, shall speak unto thee.

33. వెంటనే నిన్ను పిలిపించితిని; నీవు వచ్చినది మంచిది. ప్రభువు నీకు ఆజ్ఞా పించినవన్నియు వినుటకై యిప్పుడు మేమందరము దేవుని యెదుట ఇక్కడ కూడియున్నా మని చెప్పెను. అందుకు పేతురు నోరుతెరచి ఇట్లనెను

33. Then sent I for thee immediately, and thou hast well done for to come. Now are we all here, present before God to hear all things that are commanded unto thee of God.

34. దేవుడు పక్షపాతి కాడని నిజముగా గ్రహించి యున్నాను.

34. (Then) Peter opened his mouth(mought) and said: Of a truth I perceive, that God is not partial,(God hath no respect of persons)

35. ప్రతి జనములోను ఆయనకు భయపడి నీతిగా నడుచుకొనువానిని ఆయన అంగీకరించును.

35. but in all people he that feareth(fear) him and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36. యేసుక్రీస్తు అందరికి ప్రభువు. ఆయనద్వారా దేవుడు సమాధానకరమైన సువార్తను ప్రకటించి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు పంపిన వర్తమానము మీరెరుగు దురు.

36. Ye know the preaching that God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christe (which is Lord over all things.)

37. యోహాను బాప్తిస్మము ప్రకటించిన తరువాత గలిలయమొదలు కొని యూదయ యందంతట ప్రసిద్ధమైన సంగతి మీకు తెలియును

37. which preaching was published thorowout all Jewry, and began in Galilee, after the baptism preached by John;

38. అదేదనగా దేవుడు నజరేయుడైన యేసును పరిశుద్ధాత్మతోను శక్తితోను అభిషేకించెనను నదియే. దేవుడాయనకు తోడైయుండెను గనుక ఆయన మేలు చేయుచు, అపవాదిచేత పీడింపబడిన వారినందరిని స్వస్థపరచుచు సంచరించుచుండెను.
యెషయా 61:1

38. After that(how) God had anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the holy ghost, and with power, he(Which Iesus) went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed with(of the) devils, for God was with him.

39. ఆయన యూదుల దేశమందును యెరూషలేమునందును చేసినవాటికన్నిటికిని మేము సాక్షులము. ఆయనను వారు మ్రానున వ్రేలాడదీసి చంపిరి.

39. And we are witnesses of all things which he did in the land of the jews and at Jerusalem, whom they slew, and hung on tree.

40. దేవుడాయనను మూడవ దినమున లేపి

40. Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly,

41. ప్రజలకందరికి కాక దేవునిచేత ముందుగా ఏర్పరచబడిన సాక్షులకే, అనగా ఆయన మృతులలోనుండి లేచిన తరువాత ఆయనతో కూడ అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనిన మాకే, ఆయన ప్రత్యక్షముగా కనబడునట్లు అనుగ్రహించెను.

41. not to all the people, but unto us witnesses chosen before of God, which ate and drank with him, after he arose from death.

42. ఇదియుగాక దేవుడు సజీవులకును మృతులకును న్యాయాధి పతినిగా నియమించిన వాడు ఈయనే అని ప్రజలకు ప్రకటించి దృఢసాక్ష్యమియ్యవలెనని మాకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

42. And he commanded (unto) us to preach unto the people and testify, that it is he that is ordained of God a judge of quick and dead.

43. ఆయనయందు విశ్వాసముంచువాడెవడో వాడు ఆయన నామము మూలముగా పాపక్షమాపణ పొందునని ప్రవక్త లందరు ఆయననుగూర్చి సాక్ష్య మిచ్చుచున్నారనెను.

43. To him giveth all the prophets witness, that thorow his name shall receive remission of sins all that believe in him.(all that believe in him shall receive remission of sins.)

44. పేతురు ఈ మాటలు ఇంక చెప్పుచుండగా అతని బోధ విన్నవారందరిమీదికి పరిశుద్ధాత్మ దిగెను.

44. While Peter yet spake these words, the holy ghost fell on all them which heard his(the) preaching.(hearkened unto the word)

45. సున్నతి పొందినవారిలో పేతురుతోకూడ వచ్చిన విశ్వాసులందరు, పరిశుద్ధాత్మ వరము అన్యజనులమీద సయితము కుమ్మరింప బడుట చూచి విభ్రాంతినొందిరి.

45. And they(the faithfull) of the circumcision which believed were astonied, as many as came with Peter, because that on the gentiles also was shed out the gift of the holy ghost.

46. ఏలయనగా వారు భాషలతో మాటలాడుచు దేవుని ఘనపరచుచుండగా వినిరి.

46. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter:

47. అందుకు పేతురు మనవలె పరిశుద్ధాత్మను పొందిన వీరు బాప్తిస్మము పొందకుండ ఎవడైనను నీళ్ళకు ఆటంకము చేయగలడా అని చెప్పి

47. can any man forbid water that these should not be baptised, which have received the holy ghost as well as we?

48. యేసు క్రీస్తు నామమందు వారు బాప్తిస్మము పొందవలెనని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను. తరువాత కొన్ని దినములు తమయొద్ద ఉండుమని వారతని వేడుకొనిరి.

48. And he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him, to tarry a few days.
