1. అపొల్లో కొరింథులో నున్నప్పుడు జరిగినదేమనగా, పౌలు పైప్రదేశములలో సంచరించి ఎఫెసునకు వచ్చికొందరు శిష్యులను చూచిమీరు విశ్వసించినప్పుడు పరిశుద్ధాత్మను పొందితిరా? అని వారి నడుగగా

1. And it happened, in the time Apollos was in Corinth, Paul was passing through the higher parts to come to Ephesus. And finding some disciples,

2. వారు పరిశుద్ధాత్ముడున్నాడన్న సంగతియే మేము వినలేదని చెప్పిరి.

2. he said to them, Believing, did you receive the Holy Spirit? And they said to him, We did not even hear whether the Holy Spirit is.

3. అప్పుడతడు ఆలాగైతే మీరు దేనినిబట్టి బాప్తిస్మము పొందితిరని అడుగగా వారు యోహాను బాప్తిస్మమునుబట్టియే అని చెప్పిరి.

3. And he said to them, Then to what were you baptized? And they said, To the baptism of John.

4. అందుకు పౌలు యోహాను తన వెనుక వచ్చువానియందు, అనగా యేసు నందు విశ్వాసముంచవలెనని ప్రజలతో చెప్పుచు, మారు మనస్సు విషయమైన బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చెనని చెప్పెను.

4. And Paul said, John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe into the One coming after him, that is, into the Christ, Jesus.

5. వారు ఆ మాటలు విని ప్రభువైన యేసు నామమున బాప్తిస్మము పొందిరి.

5. And hearing, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.

6. తరువాత పౌలు వారిమీద చేతులుంచగా పరిశుద్ధాత్మ వారిమీదికి వచ్చెను. అప్పుడు వారు భాషలతో మాటలాడుటకును ప్రవచించుటకును మొదలుపెట్టిరి.

6. And Paul laying hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in languages and prophesied.

7. వారందరు ఇంచుమించు పండ్రెండుగురు పురుషులు.

7. And all the men were about twelve.

8. తరువాత అతడు సమాజమందిరములోనికి వెళ్లి ప్రసంగించుచు, దేవుని రాజ్యమును గూర్చి తర్కించుచు, ఒప్పించుచు, ధైర్యముగా మాటలాడుచు మూడు నెలలు గడిపెను.

8. And going into the synagogue, he spoke boldly over three months, having reasoned with them, and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.

9. అయితే కొందరు కఠినపరచబడినవారై యొప్పుకొనక, జనసమూహము ఎదుట ఈ మార్గమును దూషించుచున్నందున అతడు వారిని విడిచి, శిష్యులను ప్రత్యేకపరచుకొని ప్రతిదినము తురన్ను అను ఒకని పాఠశాలలో తర్కించుచు వచ్చెను.

9. But when some were hardened, and did not obey, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, departing from them, he separated the disciples, conversing day by day in the school of a certain Tyrannus.

10. రెండేండ్లవరకు ఈలాగున జరిగెను గనుక యూదులేమి గ్రీసుదేశస్థులేమి ఆసియలో కాపురమున్న వారందరును ప్రభువు వాక్యము వినిరి.

10. And this happened over two years, so as all those living in Asia heard the Word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

11. మరియు దేవుడు పౌలుచేత విశేషమైన అద్భుతములను చేయించెను;

11. And God did uncommon works of power through the hands of Paul,

12. అతని శరీరమునకు తగిలిన చేతి గుడ్డలైనను నడికట్లయినను రోగులయొద్దకు తెచ్చినప్పుడు రోగములు వారిని విడిచెను, దయ్యములు కూడ వదలి పోయెను.

12. so as even handkerchiefs or aprons from his skin to be brought onto those sick, and the diseases to be released from them, and the evil spirits to go out from them.

13. అప్పుడు దేశసంచారులును మాంత్రికులునైన కొందరు యూదులుపౌలు ప్రకటించు యేసు తోడు మిమ్మును ఉచ్చాటన చేయుచున్నానను మాట చెప్పి, దయ్యములు పట్టినవారిమీద ప్రభువైన యేసు నామమును ఉచ్చరించుటకు పూనుకొనిరి.

13. But certain from the strolling Jews, exorcists, undertook to name the name of the Lord Jesus over those having evil spirits, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.

14. యూదుడైన స్కెవయను ఒక ప్రధానయాజకుని కుమారులు ఏడుగురు ఆలాగు చేయుచుండిరి.

14. And there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, doing this.

15. అందుకు ఆ దయ్యము నేను యేసును గుర్తెరుగుదును, పౌలునుకూడ ఎరుగుదును, గాని మీరెవరని అడుగగా

15. But answering the evil spirit said, I know Jesus, and I comprehend Paul, but who are you?

16. ఆ దయ్యముపట్టినవాడు ఎగిరి, వారిమీద పడి, వారిలో ఇద్దరిని లొంగదీసి గెలిచెను; అందుచేత వారు దిగంబరులై గాయము తగిలి ఆ యింటనుండి పారిపోయిరి.

16. And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, and having overmastered them, he was strong against them, so that having been wounded and naked, they fled out of that house.

17. ఈ సంగతి ఎఫెసులో కాపురమున్న సమస్తమైన యూదు లకును గ్రీసు దేశస్థులకును తెలియవచ్చినప్పుడు వారికందరికి భయము కలిగెను గనుక ప్రభువైన యేసు నామము ఘనపరచబడెను.

17. And this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, those living in Ephesus. And fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

18. విశ్వసించినవారు అనేకులు వచ్చి, తాము చేసినవాటిని తెలియజేసియొప్పుకొనిరి.

18. And many of those who had believed came confessing, and reporting their practices.

19. మరియు మాంత్రిక విద్య అభ్యసించినవారు అనేకులు తమ పుస్తకములు తెచ్చి, అందరియెదుట వాటిని కాల్చివేసిరి. వారు లెక్క చూడగా వాటి వెల యేబదివేల వెండి రూకలాయెను.

19. And many of the ones practicing the curious arts, bringing together the books, burned them before all. And they counted the prices of them, and found it to be fifty thousands of silver.

20. ఇంత ప్రభావముతో ప్రభువు వాక్యము ప్రబలమై వ్యాపించెను.

20. So with might, the Word of the Lord increased and was strong.

21. ఈలాగు జరిగిన తరువాత పౌలు మాసిదోనియ అకయ దేశముల మార్గమునవచ్చి యెరూషలేమునకు వెళ్లవలెనని మన స్సులో ఉద్దేశించి నేనక్కడికి వెళ్లిన తరువాత రోమాకూడ చూడవలెనని అనుకొనెను.

21. And when these things were fulfilled, passing through Macedonia and Achaia, Paul purposed in the Spirit to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have come there, I must also see Rome.

22. అప్పుడు తనకు పరిచర్యచేయు వారిలో తిమోతి ఎరస్తు అను వారి నిద్దరిని మాసిదోనియకు పంపి, తాను ఆసియలో కొంతకాలము నిలిచియుండెను.

22. And sending into Macedonia two who ministered to him, Timothy and Erastus, he stayed a time in Asia.

23. ఆ కాలమందు క్రీస్తు మార్గమునుగూర్చి చాల అల్లరి కలిగెను.

23. And about that time there was no little disturbance about the Way.

24. ఏలాగనగా దేమేత్రియను ఒక కంసాలి అర్తెమిదేవికి వెండి గుళ్లను చేయించుటవలన ఆ పని వారికి మిగుల లాభము కలుగజేయుచుండెను.

24. For a certain silversmith named Demetrius was making silver shrines of Artemis, providing no little trade for the craftsmen.

25. అతడు వారిని అట్టి పనిచేయు ఇతరులను గుంపుకూర్చి అయ్యలారా, యీ పనివలన మనకు జీవనము బహు బాగుగా జరుగు చున్నదని మీకు తెలియును.

25. And assembling the workmen about such things, he said, Men, you understand that from this trade is our wealth.

26. అయితే చేతులతో చేయబడినవి దేవతలు కావని యీ పౌలు చెప్పి, ఎఫెసులో మాత్రము కాదు, దాదాపు ఆసియయందంతట బహు జనమును ఒప్పించి, త్రిప్పియున్న సంగతి మీరు చూచియు వినియు నున్నారు.

26. And you see and hear that not only Ephesus, but almost all of Asia, persuading, this Paul perverted a considerable crowd, saying that those being made by hands are not gods.

27. మరియు ఈ మన వృత్తియందు లక్ష్యము తప్పిపోవుటయే గాక, మహాదేవియైన అర్తెమి దేవియొక్క గుడి కూడ తృణీకరింపబడి, ఆసియయందంతటను భూలోకమందును పూజింపబడుచున్న ఈమెయొక్క గొప్పతనము తొలగిపోవునని భయముతోచుచున్నదని వారితో చెప్పెను.

27. And not only is this dangerous to us, lest our part come to be in contempt, but also the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted nothing, and her majesty is also about to be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.

28. వారు విని రౌద్రముతో నిండిన వారై ఎఫెసీయుల అర్తెమిదేవి మహాదేవి అని కేకలువేసిరి;

28. And having heard, and having become full of anger, they cried out, saying, Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!

29. పట్టణము బహు గలిబిలిగా ఉండెను. మరియు వారు పౌలుతో ప్రయాణమై వచ్చిన మాసిదోనియ వారైన గాయియును అరిస్తర్కును పట్టుకొని దొమ్మిగా నాటకశాలలో చొరబడిరి.

29. And all the city was filled with confusion. And they rushed with one passion into the theater, keeping a firm grip on Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, traveling companions of Paul.

30. పౌలు జనుల సభ యొద్దకు వెళ్లదలచెను, గాని శిష్యులు వెళ్లనియ్యలేదు.

30. And Paul intending to go in to the mob, the disciples did not allow him.

31. మరియు ఆసియ దేశాధికారులలో కొందరు అతనికి స్నేహితులైయుండి అతనియొద్దకు వర్తమానము పంపినీవు నాటక శాలలోనికి వెళ్లవద్దని అతని వేడుకొనిరి.

31. And also some of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sending to him begged him not to give himself into the theater.

32. ఆ సభ గలిబిలిగా ఉండెను గనుక కొందరీలాగున, కొందరాలాగున కేకలువేసిరి; తామెందు నిమిత్తము కూడుకొనిరో చాల మందికి తెలియలేదు.

32. Then others indeed cried out a different thing, for the assembly was confused, and the majority did not know on what account they came together.

33. అప్పుడు యూదులు అలెక్సంద్రును ముందుకు త్రోయగా కొందరు సమూహములో నుండి అతనిని ఎదుటికి తెచ్చిరి. అలెక్సంద్రు సైగచేసి జనులతో సమాధానము చెప్పుకొనవలెనని యుండెను.

33. But they dragged Alexander forward out of the crowd, the Jews thrusting him in front. And waving his hand, Alexander desired to defend himself to the mob.

34. అయితే అతడు యూదుడని వారు తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు అందరును ఏకశబ్దముతో రెండు గంటలసేపు ఎఫెసీయుల అర్తెమిదేవి మహాదేవి అని కేకలువేసిరి.

34. But knowing that he is a Jew, one voice was from all, as they were crying out over two hours, Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!

35. అంతట కరణము సమూహమును సముదాయించి ఎఫెసీయులారా, ఎఫెసీయుల పట్టణము అర్తెమి మహాదేవికిని ద్యుపతియొద్దనుండి పడిన మూర్తికిని పాలకురాలై యున్నదని తెలియని వాడెవడు?

35. And quieting the crowd, the town clerk said, Men, Ephesians, for what man is there who does not know the city of the Ephesians to be temple keepers of the great goddess Artemis, and of That Fallen From the Sky?

36. ఈ సంగతులు నిరాక్షేపమైనవి గనుక మీరు శాంతము కలిగి ఏదియు ఆతురపడి చేయకుండుట అవశ్యకము.

36. Then these things being undeniable, it is necessary for you, being calmed, to be so, and to do nothing rash.

37. మీరు ఈ మనుష్యులను తీసికొనివచ్చితిరి. వీరు గుడి దోచినవారు కారు, మన దేవతను దూషింపను లేదు.

37. For you brought these men, being neither temple robbers nor blaspheming your goddess.

38. దేమేత్రికిని అతనితోకూడనున్న కమసాలులకును ఎవని మీదనైనను వ్యవహారమేదైన ఉన్నయెడల న్యాయసభలు జరుగుచున్నవి, అధిపతులు ఉన్నారు గనుక వారు ఒకరితో ఒకరు వ్యాజ్యె మాడవచ్చును.

38. If then, indeed, Demetrius and those craftsmen with him have a matter against anyone, courts are being held, and there are proconsuls. Let them accuse one another.

39. అయితే మీరు ఇతర సంగతులనుగూర్చి యేమైనను విచారణ చేయవలెనని యుంటే అదిక్రమమైన సభలో పరిష్కారమగును.

39. But if you seek concerning other things, it will be settled in a lawful assembly.

40. మనము ఈ గలిబిలినిగూర్చి చెప్పదగిన కారణమేమియు లేనందున, నేడు జరిగిన అల్లరినిగూర్చి మనలను విచారణ లోనికి తెత్తురేమో అని భయమవుచున్నది. ఇట్లు గుంపు కూడినందుకు తగిన కారణము చెప్పజాలమని వారితో అనెను.

40. For we are in danger to be accused of insurrection concerning today, there being no cause about which we will be able to give account of this crowding together.

41. అతడీలాగు చెప్పి సభను ముగించెను.

41. And saying these things, he dismissed the assembly.
