1. Paul looked intently at the Sanhedrin and said, 'My brothers, I have conducted myself with a perfectly clear conscience before God to this day.'

2. The high priest Ananias ordered his attendants to strike his mouth.

3. Then Paul said to him, 'God will strike you, you whitewashed wall. Do you indeed sit in judgment upon me according to the law and yet in violation of the law order me to be struck?'

4. దగ్గర నిలిచియున్నవారు నీవు దేవుని ప్రధానయాజకుని దూషించెదవా? అని అడిగిరి

4. The attendants said, 'Would you revile God's high priest?'

5. అందుకు పౌలు సహోదరులారా, యితడు ప్రధానయాజకుడని నాకు తెలియలేదు నీ ప్రజల అధికారిని నిందింపవద్దు అని వ్రాయబడి యున్నదనెను.

5. Paul answered, 'Brothers, I did not realize he was the high priest. For it is written, 'You shall not curse a ruler of your people.''

6. Paul was aware that some were Sadducees and some Pharisees, so he called out before the Sanhedrin, 'My brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of Pharisees; (I) am on trial for hope in the resurrection of the dead.'

7. అతడాలాగు చెప్పినప్పుడు పరిసయ్యులకును సద్దూకయ్యులకును కలహము పుట్టినందున ఆ సమూహము రెండు పక్షములు ఆయెను.

7. When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the group became divided.

8. సద్దూకయ్యులు పునరుత్థానము లేదనియు, దేవదూతయైనను ఆత్మయైనను లేదనియు చెప్పుదురు గాని పరిసయ్యులు రెండును కలవని యొప్పుకొందురు.

8. For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, while the Pharisees acknowledge all three.

9. అప్పుడు పెద్దగొల్లు పుట్టెను; పరిసయ్యుల పక్షముగా ఉన్న శాస్త్రులలో కొందరు లేచి ఈ మనుష్యునియందు ఏ దోషమును మాకు కనబడలేదు; ఒక ఆత్మయైనను దేవ దూతయైనను అతనితో మాటలాడియుంటే మాటలాడి యుండవచ్చునని చెప్పుచు తగువులాడిరి.

9. A great uproar occurred, and some scribes belonging to the Pharisee party stood up and sharply argued, 'We find nothing wrong with this man. Suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?'

10. కలహమెక్కు వైనప్పుడు వారు పౌలును చీల్చివేయుదురేమో అని సహస్రాధిపతి భయపడి మీరు వెళ్లి వారి మధ్యనుండి అతనిని బలవంతముగా పట్టుకొని కోటలోనికి తీసికొని రండని సైనికులకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

10. The dispute was so serious that the commander, afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, ordered his troops to go down and rescue him from their midst and take him into the compound.

11. ఆ రాత్రి ప్రభువు అతనియొద్ద నిలుచుండి ధైర్యముగా ఉండుము, యెరూషలేములో నన్నుగూర్చి నీవేలాగు సాక్ష్యమిచ్చితివో ఆలాగున రోమాలోకూడ సాక్ష్య మియ్యవలసియున్నదనిచెప్పెను.

11. The following night the Lord stood by him and said, 'Take courage. For just as you have borne witness to my cause in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness in Rome.'

12. ఉదయమైనప్పుడు యూదులు కట్టుకట్టి, తాము పౌలును చంపువరకు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనమని ఒట్టు పెట్టుకొనిరి.

12. When day came, the Jews made a plot and bound themselves by oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.

13. ఈ కుట్రలో చేరినవారు నలుబదిమంది కంటె ఎక్కువ.

13. There were more than forty who formed this conspiracy.

14. వారు ప్రధానయాజకుల యొద్దకును పెద్దలయొద్దకును వచ్చి మేము పౌలును చంపువరకు ఏమియు రుచి చూడమని గట్టిగ ఒట్టుపెట్టుకొని యున్నాము.

14. They went to the chief priests and elders and said, 'We have bound ourselves by a solemn oath to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.

15. కాబట్టి మీరు మహాసభతో కలిసి, అతనినిగూర్చి మరి పూర్తిగా విచారించి తెలిసికొనబోవునట్టు అతనిని మీ యొద్దకు తీసికొని రమ్మని సహస్రాధిపతితో మనవిచేయుడి; అతడు దగ్గరకు రాకమునుపే మేమతని చంపుటకు సిద్ధపడియున్నామని చెప్పిరి.

15. You, together with the Sanhedrin, must now make an official request to the commander to have him bring him down to you, as though you meant to investigate his case more thoroughly. We on our part are prepared to kill him before he arrives.'

16. అయితే పౌలు మేనల్లుడు వారు పొంచియున్నారని విని వచ్చి కోటలో ప్రవేశించి పౌలుకు ఆ సంగతి తెలిపెను.

16. The son of Paul's sister, however, heard about the ambush; so he went and entered the compound and reported it to Paul.

17. అప్పుడు పౌలు శతాధిపతులలో నొకనిని తనయొద్దకు పిలిచి ఈ చిన్నవానిని సహస్రాధిపతియొద్దకు తోడు కొనిపొమ్ము, ఇతడు అతనితో ఒక మాట చెప్పుకొనవలెనని యున్నాడనెను.

17. Paul then called one of the centurions and requested, 'Take this young man to the commander; he has something to report to him.'

18. శతాధిపతి సహస్రాధిపతియొద్ద కతని తోడుకొనిపోయి ఖైదీయైన పౌలు నన్ను పిలిచినీతో ఒక మాట చెప్పుకొనవలెననియున్న యీ పడుచువానిని నీయొద్దకు తీసికొనిపొమ్మని నన్ను అడిగెనని చెప్పెను.

18. So he took him and brought him to the commander and explained, 'The prisoner Paul called me and asked that I bring this young man to you; he has something to say to you.'

19. సహస్రాధిపతి అతని చెయ్యి పట్టుకొని అవతలకు తీసి కొనిపోయి నీవు నాతో చెప్పుకొనవలెనని యున్నదేమని యొంటరిగా అడిగెను.

19. The commander took him by the hand, drew him aside, and asked him privately, 'What is it you have to report to me?'

20. అందుకతడు నీవు పౌలునుగూర్చి సంపూర్తిగా విచారింపబోవునట్టు అతనిని రేపు మహాసభ యొద్దకు తీసికొని రావలెనని నిన్ను వేడుకొనుటకు యూదులు కట్టుకట్టి యున్నారు.

20. He replied, 'The Jews have conspired to ask you to bring Paul down to the Sanhedrin tomor row, as though they meant to inquire about him more thoroughly,

21. వారి మాటకు నీవు సమ్మతింపవద్దు; వారిలో నలువదిమందికంటె ఎక్కువ మనుష్యులు అతనికొరకు పొంచియున్నారు. వారు అతని చంపువరకు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనమని ఒట్టు పెట్టుకొనియున్నారు; ఇప్పడు నీయొద్ద మాట తీసికొనవలెనని కనిపెట్టుకొని సిద్ధముగా ఉన్నారని చెప్పెను.

21. but do not believe them. More than forty of them are lying in wait for him; they have bound themselves by oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They are now ready and only wait for your consent.'

22. అందుకు సహస్రాధిపతి నీవు ఈ సంగతి నాకు తెలిపితివని యెవనితోను చెప్పవద్దని ఆజ్ఞాపించి ఆ పడుచువానిని పంపివేసెను.

22. As the commander dismissed the young man he directed him, 'Tell no one that you gave me this information.'

23. తరువాత అతడు శతాధిపతులలో ఇద్దరిని తనయొద్దకు పిలిచి కైసరయవరకు వెళ్లుటకు ఇన్నూరు మంది సైనికులను డెబ్బదిమంది గుఱ్ఱపురౌతులను ఇన్నూరు మంది యీటెలవారిని రాత్రి తొమ్మిది గంటలకు సిద్ధ పరచి

23. Then he summoned two of the centurions and said, 'Get two hundred soldiers ready to go to Caesarea by nine o'clock tonight, along with seventy horsemen and two hundred auxiliaries.

24. పౌలును ఎక్కించి అధిపతియైన ఫేలిక్సునొద్దకు భద్రముగా తీసికొనిపోవుటకు గుఱ్ఱములను సిద్ధ పరచుడని చెప్పెను.

24. Provide mounts for Paul to ride and give him safe conduct to Felix the governor.'

25. మరియు ఈ ప్రకారముగా ఒక పత్రిక వ్రాసెను

25. Then he wrote a letter with this content:

26. మహా ఘనతవహించిన అధిపతియైన ఫేలిక్సుకు క్లౌదియ లూసియ వందనములు.

26. 'Claudius Lysias to his excellency the governor Felix, greetings.

27. యూదులు ఈ మనుష్యుని పట్టుకొని చంపబోయినప్పుడు, అతడు రోమీయుడని నేను విని, సైనికులతో వచ్చి అతనిని తప్పించితిని.

27. This man, seized by the Jews and about to be murdered by them, I rescued after intervening with my troops when I learned that he was a Roman citizen.

28. I wanted to learn the reason for their accusations against him so I brought him down to their Sanhedrin.

29. వారు తమ ధర్మశాస్త్రవాదములనుగూర్చి అతనిమీద నేరము మోపిరే గాని మరణమునకైనను, బంధకములకైనను తగిన నేరము అతనియందేమియు కనుపరచలేదు.

29. I discovered that he was accused in matters of controversial questions of their law and not of any charge deserving death or imprisonment.

30. అయితే వారు ఈ మనుష్యునిమీద కుట్రచేయనై యున్నారని నాకు తెలియవచ్చినందున, వెంటనే అతని నీయొద్దకు పంపించితిని. నేరము మోపినవారు కూడ అతనిమీద చెప్పవలెనని యున్న సంగతి నీయెదుట చెప్పుకొన నాజ్ఞాపించితిని. కాబట్టి అతడు వారికాజ్ఞాపించిన ప్రకారము సైనికులు పౌలును రాత్రివేళ అంతిపత్రికి తీసికొనిపోయిరి.

30. Since it was brought to my attention that there will be a plot against the man, I am sending him to you at once, and have also notified his accusers to state (their case) against him before you.'

31. మరునాడు వారతనితో కూడ రౌతులను పంపి తాము కోటకు తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

31. So the soldiers, according to their orders, took Paul and escorted him by night to Antipatris.

32. వారు కైసరయకు వచ్చి అధిపతికి ఆ పత్రిక అప్పగించి పౌలునుకూడ అతనియెదుట నిలువ బెట్టిరి.

32. The next day they re turned to the compound, leaving the horsemen to complete the journey with him.

33. అధిపతి ఆ పత్రిక చదివినప్పుడు ఇతడు ఏ ప్రదేశపువాడని అడిగి, అతడు కిలికియవాడని తెలిసికొని

33. When they arrived in Caesarea they delivered the letter to the governor and presented Paul to him.

34. నీమీద నేరము మోపు వారు కూడ వచ్చినప్పుడు నీ సంగతి పూర్ణముగా విచారింతునని చెప్పి,

34. When he had read it and asked to what province he belonged, and learned that he was from Cilicia,

35. హేరోదు అధికారమందిరములో అతనిని కావలి యందుంచవలెనని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

35. he said, 'I shall hear your case when your accusers arrive.' Then he ordered that he be held in custody in Herod's praetorium.
