1. ఫేస్తు ఆ దేశాధికారమునకు వచ్చిన మూడు దినములకు కైసరయనుండి యెరూషలేమునకు వెళ్లెను.

1. Three days after his arrival in the province, Festus went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem

2. అప్పుడు ప్రధానయాజకులును యూదులలో ముఖ్యులును పౌలుమీద తాము తెచ్చిన ఫిర్యాదు సంగతి అతనికి తెలియజేసిరి.

2. where the chief priests and Jewish leaders presented him their formal charges against Paul. They asked him

3. మరియు త్రోవలో అతనిని చంపుటకు పొంచియుండి మీరు దయచేసి అతనిని యెరూషలేమునకు పిలువనంపించుడని అతనినిగూర్చి ఫేస్తు నొద్ద మనవి చేసిరి.

3. as a favor to have him sent to Jerusalem, for they were plotting to kill him along the way.

4. Festus replied that Paul was being held in custody in Caesarea and that he himself would be returning there shortly.

5. గనుక మీలో సమర్థులైనవారు నాతో కూడ వచ్చి ఆ మనుష్యునియందు తప్పిదమేదైన ఉంటే అతనిమీద మోపవచ్చునని ఉత్తరమిచ్చెను.

5. He said, 'Let your authorities come down with me, and if this man has done something improper, let them accuse him.'

6. అతడు వారియొద్ద ఎనిమిది, పది దినములు గడిపి కైసరయకు వెళ్లి మరునాడు న్యాయపీఠముమీద కూర్చుండి పౌలును తీసికొని రమ్మని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

6. After spending no more than eight or ten days with them, he went down to Caesarea, and on the following day took his seat on the tribunal and ordered that Paul be brought in.

7. పౌలు వచ్చినప్పుడు యెరూషలేమునుండి వచ్చిన యూదులు అతని చుట్టు నిలిచి, భారమైన నేరములనేకముల మోపిరి గాని వాటిని ఋజువు చేయలేక పోయిరి.

7. When he appeared, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem surrounded him and brought many serious charges against him, which they were unable to prove.

8. అందుకు పౌలుయూదుల ధర్మశాస్త్రమును గూర్చి గాని దేవాలయమును గూర్చి గాని, కైసరును గూర్చి గాని నేనెంతమాత్రమును తప్పిదము చేయలేదని సమాధానము చెప్పెను.

8. In defending himself Paul said, 'I have committed no crime either against the Jewish law or against the temple or against Caesar.'

9. అయితే ఫేస్తు యూదులచేత మంచివాడనిపించు కొనవలెనని యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి అక్కడ నా యెదుట ఈ సంగతులనుగూర్చి విమర్శింపబడుట నీకిష్టమా అని పౌలును అడిగెను.

9. Then Festus, wishing to ingratiate himself with the Jews, said to Paul in reply, 'Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and there stand trial before me on these charges?'

10. అందుకు పౌలు కైసరు న్యాయపీఠము ఎదుట నిలువబడి యున్నాను; నేను విమర్శింపబడవలసిన స్థలమిదే, యూదులకు నేను అన్యాయమేమియు చేయలేదని తమరికి బాగుగా తెలియును.

10. Paul answered, 'I am standing before the tribunal of Caesar; this is where I should be tried. I have committed no crime against the Jews, as you very well know.

11. నేను న్యాయము తప్పి మరణమునకు తగినదేదైనను చేసినయెడల మరణమునకు వెనుకతీయను; వీరు నామీద మోపుచున్న నేరములలో ఏదియు నిజముకాని యెడల నన్ను వారికి అప్పగించుటకు ఎవరితరముకాదు; కైసరు ఎదుటనే చెప్పుకొందుననెను.

11. If I have committed a crime or done anything deserving death, I do not seek to escape the death penalty; but if there is no substance to the charges they are bringing against me, then no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar.'

12. అప్పుడు ఫేస్తు తన సభవారితో ఆలోచనచేసిన తరువాత కైసరు ఎదుట చెప్పుకొందునంటివే కైసరునొద్దకే పోవుదువని ఉత్తరమిచ్చెను.

12. Then Festus, after conferring with his council, replied, 'You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you will go.'

13. కొన్ని దినములైన తరువాత రాజైన అగ్రిప్పయు బెర్నీకేయు ఫేస్తు దర్శనము చేసికొనుటకు కైసరయకు వచ్చిరి.

13. When a few days had passed, King Agrippa and Bernice arrived in Caesarea on a visit to Festus.

14. వారక్కడ అనేకదినములుండగా, ఫేస్తు పౌలు సంగతి రాజుకు తెలియజెప్పెను; ఏమనగా ఫేలిక్సు విడిచిపెట్టిపోయిన యొక ఖైదీ యున్నాడు.

14. Since they spent several days there, Festus referred Paul's case to the king, saying, 'There is a man here left in custody by Felix.

15. నేను యెరూషలేములో ఉన్నప్పుడు ప్రధానయాజకులును యూదుల పెద్దలును అతనిమీద తెచ్చిన ఫిర్యాదు తెలిపి అతనికి శిక్ష విధింపవలెనని వేడుకొనిరి.

15. When I was in Jerusalem the chief priests and the elders of the Jews brought charges against him and demanded his condemnation.

16. అందుకు నేను నేరము మోపబడివవాడు నేరము మోపినవారికి ముఖా ముఖిగా వచ్చి, తనమీద మోపబడిన నేరమునుగూర్చి సమాధానము చెప్పుకొనుటకు అవకాశమియ్యకమునుపు ఏ మనుష్యునినైనను అప్పగించుట రోమీయుల ఆచారము కాదని ఉత్తరమిచ్చితిని.

16. I answered them that it was not Roman practice to hand over an accused person before he has faced his accusers and had the opportunity to defend himself against their charge.

17. కాబట్టి వారిక్కడికి కూడి వచ్చినప్పుడు నేను ఆలస్యమేమియు చేయక, మరునాడు న్యాయ పీఠముమీద కూర్చుండి ఆ మనుష్యుని తీసికొని రమ్మని ఆజ్ఞాపించితిని.

17. So when (they) came together here, I made no delay; the next day I took my seat on the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought in.

18. నేరము మోపినవారు నిలిచినప్పుడు, నేననుకొనిన నేరములలో ఒకటియైనను అతని మీద మోపినవారు కారు.

18. His accusers stood around him, but did not charge him with any of the crimes I suspected.

19. అయితే తమ మతమును గూర్చియు, చనిపోయిన యేసు అను ఒకనిగూర్చియు ఇతనితో వారికి కొన్ని వివాదములున్నట్టు కనబడెను;

19. Instead they had some issues with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus who had died but who Paul claimed was alive.

20. ఆ యేసు బ్రదికియున్నాడని పౌలు చెప్పెను. నేనట్టి వాదముల విషయమై యేలాగున విచారింపవలెనోయేమియు తోచక, యెరూషలేమునకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ వీటినిగూర్చి విమర్శింప బడుటకు అతని కిష్టమవునేమో అని అడిగితిని.

20. Since I was at a loss how to investigate this controversy, I asked if he were willing to go to Jerusalem and there stand trial on these charges.

21. అయితే పౌలు, చక్రవర్తి విమర్శకు తన్ను నిలిపి యుంచవలెనని చెప్పుకొనినందున నేనతనిని కైసరునొద్దకు పంపించు వరకు నిలిపియుంచవ లెనని ఆజ్ఞాపించితిననెను.

21. And when Paul appealed that he be held in custody for the Emperor's decision, I ordered him held until I could send him to Caesar.'

22. అందుకు అగ్రిప్ప ఆ మనుష్యుడు చెప్పుకొనునది నేనును వినగోరు చున్నానని ఫేస్తుతో అనగా అతడురేపు వినవచ్చునని చెప్పెను.

22. Agrippa said to Festus, 'I too should like to hear this man.' He replied, 'Tomorrow you will hear him.'

23. కాబట్టి మరునాడు అగ్రిప్పయు బెర్నీకేయు మిక్కిలి ఆడంబరముతో వచ్చి, సహస్రాధిపతులతోను పట్టణ మందలి ప్రముఖులతోను అధికారమందిరములో ప్రవేశించిన తరువాత ఫేస్తు ఆజ్ఞనియ్యగా పౌలు తేబడెను.

23. The next day Agrippa and Bernice came with great ceremony and entered the audience hall in the company of cohort commanders and the prominent men of the city and, by command of Festus, Paul was brought in.

24. అప్పుడు ఫేస్తు అగ్రిప్పరాజా, యిక్కడ మాతో ఉన్న సమస్తజనులారా, మీరు ఈ మనుష్యుని చూచుచున్నారు. యెరూషలేములోను ఇక్కడను యూదులందరు వీడు ఇక బ్రదుక తగడని కేకలు వేయుచు అతనిమీద నాతో మనవి చేసికొనిరి.

24. And Festus said, 'King Agrippa and all you here present with us, look at this man about whom the whole Jewish populace petitioned me here and in Jerusalem, clamoring that he should live no longer.

25. ఇతడు మరణమునకు తగినది ఏమియు చేయలేదని నేను గ్రహించి, యితడు చక్రవర్తియెదుట చెప్పుకొందునని అనినందున ఇతని పంప నిశ్చయించి యున్నాను.

25. I found, however, that he had done nothing deserving death, and so when he appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.

26. ఇతనిగూర్చి మన యేలినవారి పేర వ్రాయుటకు నాకు నిశ్చయమైనది ఏమియు కనబడలేదు గనుక విచారణయైన తరువాత వ్రాయుటకు ఏమైనను నాకు దొరకవచ్చునని మీ అందరియెదుటికిని, అగ్రిప్పరాజా, ముఖ్యముగా మీ యెదుటికిని, ఇతని రప్పించి యున్నాను.

26. But I have nothing definite to write about him to our sovereign; therefore I have brought him before all of you, and particularly before you, King Agrippa, so that I may have something to write as a result of this investigation.

27. ఖయిదీమీద మోపబడిన నేరములను వివరింపకుండ అతని పంపుట యుక్తముకాదని నాకు తోచు చున్నదని చెప్పెను.

27. For it seems senseless to me to send up a prisoner without indicating the charges against him.'
