1. That's why I decided not to make another visit that could only be painful to both of us.

3. That was my reason for writing a letter instead of coming--so I wouldn't have to spend a miserable time disappointing the very friends I had looked forward to cheering me up. I was convinced at the time I wrote it that what was best for me was also best for you.

4. మీకు దుఃఖము కలుగవలెనని కాదు గాని, మీయెడల నాకు కలిగియున్న అత్యధికమైన ప్రేమను మీరు తెలిసికొనవలెనని, నిండు శ్రమతోను మనోవేదనతోను ఎంతో కన్నీరు విడుచుచు మీకు వ్రాసితిని.

4. As it turned out, there was pain enough just in writing that letter, more tears than ink on the parchment. But I didn't write it to cause pain; I wrote it so you would know how much I care--oh, more than care--love you!

5. ఎవడైనను దుఃఖము కలుగజేసి యుండినయెడల, నాకు మాత్రము కాదు కొంతమట్టుకు మీకందరికిని దుఃఖము కలుగజేసియున్నాడు. నేను విశేషభారము వానిమీద మోపగోరక యీ మాట చెప్పుచున్నాను.

5. Now, regarding the one who started all this--the person in question who caused all this pain--I want you to know that I am not the one injured in this as much as, with a few exceptions, all of you. So I don't want to come down too hard.

6. అట్టివానికి మీలో ఎక్కువమందివలన కలిగిన యీ శిక్షయే చాలును

6. What the majority of you agreed to as punishment is punishment enough.

7. గనుక మీరిక వానిని శిక్షింపక క్షమించి ఆదరించుట మంచిది. లేనియెడల ఒకవేళ వాడు అత్యధికమైన దుఃఖములో మునిగిపోవును.

7. Now is the time to forgive this man and help him back on his feet. If all you do is pour on the guilt, you could very well drown him in it.

8. కావున వాని యెడల మీ ప్రేమను స్థిరపరచవలెనని మిమ్మును బతిమాలుకొను చున్నాను.

8. My counsel now is to pour on the love.

9. మీరన్ని విషయములందు విధేయులై యున్నారేమో అని మీ యోగ్యత తెలిసికొనుటకే గదా పూర్వము వ్రాసితిని.

9. The focus of my letter wasn't on punishing the offender but on getting you to take responsibility for the health of the church.

10. మీరు దేనిగూర్చియైనను ఎవని క్షమించుచున్నారో నేనును వానిని క్షమించుచున్నాను.

10. So if you forgive him, I forgive him. Don't think I'm carrying around a list of personal grudges. The fact is that I'm joining in with your forgiveness, as Christ is with us, guiding us.

11. నేనేమైనను క్షమించియుంటే సాతాను మనలను మోస పరచకుండునట్లు, మీ నిమిత్తము, క్రీస్తు సముఖమునందు క్షమించియున్నాను; సాతాను తంత్రములను మనము ఎరుగనివారము కాము.

11. After all, we don't want to unwittingly give Satan an opening for yet more mischief--we're not oblivious to his sly ways!

12. క్రీస్తు సువార్త ప్రకటించుటకు నేను త్రోయకు వచ్చి నప్పుడు, ప్రభువునందు నాకు మంచి సమయము ప్రాప్తించి యుండగా సహోదరుడైన తీతు నాకు కనబడనందున

12. When I arrived in Troas to proclaim the Message of the Messiah, I found the place wide open: God had opened the door; all I had to do was walk through it.

13. నా మనస్సులో నెమ్మది లేక వారియొద్ద సెలవు తీసికొని అక్కడనుండి మాసిదోనియకు బయలుదేరితిని.

13. But when I didn't find Titus waiting for me with news of your condition, I couldn't relax. Worried about you, I left and came on to Macedonia province looking for Titus and a reassuring word on you.

14. మా ద్వారా ప్రతి స్థలమందును క్రీస్తును గూర్చిన జ్ఞానముయొక్క సువాసనను కనుపరచుచు ఆయనయందు మమ్మును ఎల్లప్పుడు విజయోత్సవముతో ఊరేగించుచున్న దేవునికి స్తోత్రము.

14. And I got it, thank God! In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance.

15. రక్షింపబడువారి పట్లను నశించువారి పట్లను మేము దేవునికి క్రీస్తు సువాసనయై యున్నాము.

15. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation--an aroma redolent with life.

16. నశించువారికి మరణార్థమైన మరణపు వాసనగాను రక్షింప బడువారికి జీవార్థమైన జీవపు వాసనగాను ఉన్నాము.

16. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse. This is a terrific responsibility. Is anyone competent to take it on?

17. కావున ఇట్టి సంగతులకు చాలినవాడెవడు? మేము దేవుని వాక్యమును కలిపి చెరిపెడు అనేకులవలె ఉండక, నిష్కాపట్యముగలవారమును దేవునివలన నియమింపబడిన వారమునైయుండి, క్రీస్తునందు దేవునియెదుట బోధించు చున్నాము.

17. No--but at least we don't take God's Word, water it down, and then take it to the streets to sell it cheap. We stand in Christ's presence when we speak; God looks us in the face. We get what we say straight from God and say it as honestly as we can.
