1. we finally turned and went into the desert, on the road to the Gulf of Aqaba, as the LORD had commanded, and we spent a long time wandering about in the hill country of Edom.

2. 'Then the LORD told me

3. that we had spent enough time wandering about in those hills and that we should go north.

4. He told me to give you the following instructions 'You are about to go through the hill country of Edom, the territory of your distant relatives, the descendants of Esau. They will be afraid of you,

5. but you must not start a war with them, because I am not going to give you so much as a square foot of their land. I have given Edom to Esau's descendants.

6. మీరు రూకలిచ్చి వారియొద్ద ఆహారము కొని తినవచ్చును. రూకలిచ్చి వారియొద్ద నీళ్లు సంపాదించుకొని త్రాగవచ్చును.

6. You may buy food and water from them.'

7. నీ చేతుల పనులన్నిటిలోను నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నిన్ను ఆశీర్వ దించెను. ఈ గొప్ప అరణ్యములో నీవు ఈ నలువది సంవత్సరములు సంచరించిన సంగతి ఆయన యెరుగును. నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నీకు తోడై యున్నాడు, నీకేమియు తక్కువకాదు.

7. 'Remember how the LORD your God has blessed you in everything that you have done. He has taken care of you as you wandered through this vast desert. He has been with you these forty years, and you have had everything you needed.

8. అప్పుడు శేయీరులో నివసించు ఏశావు సంతానపు వారైన మన సహోదరులను విడిచి, ఏలతు ఎసోన్గెబెరు అరాబా మార్గమునుండి మనము ప్రయాణము చేసితివిు.

8. 'So we moved on and left the road that goes from the towns of Elath and Eziongeber to the Dead Sea, and we turned northeast toward Moab.

9. మనము తిరిగి మోయాబు అరణ్యమార్గమున ప్రయా ణము చేయుచుండగా యెహోవా నాతో ఇట్లనెనుమోయాబీయులను బాధింపవద్దు; వారితో యుద్ధముచేయ వద్దు. లోతు సంతానమునకు ఆరు దేశమును స్వాస్థ్య ముగా ఇచ్చితిని, వారి భూమిలో ఏదియు నీకు స్వాస్థ్యముగా ఇయ్యను.

9. The LORD said to me, 'Don't trouble the people of Moab, the descendants of Lot, or start a war against them. I have given them the city of Ar, and I am not going to give you any of their land.' '

10. పూర్వకాలమున ఏమీయులనువారు ఆరు దేశములో నివసించిరి. వారు అనాకీయులవలె, ఉన్నత దేహులు, బలవంతులైన బహు జనులు. వారును అనాకీయులవలె రెఫాయీయులుగా ఎంచబడిన వారు.

10. (A mighty race of giants called the Emim used to live in Ar. They were as tall as the Anakim, another race of giants.

11. మోయాబీయులు వారికి ఏమీయులని పేరు పెట్టిరి.

11. Like the Anakim they were also known as Rephaim; but the Moabites called them Emim.

12. పూర్వకాలమున హోరీయులు శేయీరులో నివసించిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవా తమకిచ్చిన స్వాస్థ్యమైన దేశములో చేసినట్లు ఏశావు సంతానపువారు హోరీయుల దేశమును స్వాధీన పరచుకొని తమ యెదుటనుండి వారిని నశింపజేసి వారి దేశములో నివసించిరి.

12. The Horites used to live in Edom, but the descendants of Esau chased them out, destroyed their nation, and settled there themselves, just as the Israelites later chased their enemies out of the land that the LORD gave them.)

13. కాబట్టిమీరు లేచి జెరెదు ఏరుదాటుడి అని యెహోవా సెలవియ్యగా జెరెదు ఏరు దాటి తివిు.

13. 'Then we crossed the Zered River as the LORD told us to do.

14. మనము కాదేషు బర్నేయలోనుండి బయలు దేరి జెరెదు ఏరుదాటువరకు, అనగా యెహోవా వారిని గూర్చి ప్రమాణము చేసినట్లు సైనికులైన ఆ మనుష్యుల తరమువారందరు సేనలోనుండకుండ నశించువరకు మనము నడిచిన కాలము ముప్పది యెనిమిది సంవత్సరములు. అంతేకాదు, వారు నశించువరకు

14. This was thirty-eight years after we had left Kadesh Barnea. All the fighting men of that generation had died, as the LORD had said they would.

15. సేన మధ్యనుండి వారిని సంహరించుటకు యెహోవా బాహువు వారికి విరోధముగా నుండెను.

15. The LORD kept on opposing them until he had destroyed them all.

16. సైనికులైన వారందరు ప్రజలలోనుండి లయమైపోయిన తరువాత యెహోవా నాకు ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను.

16. 'After they had all died,

17. నేడు నీవు మోయాబునకు సరిహద్దుగానున్న ఆరు దేశము దాటబోవుచున్నావు.

17. the LORD said to us,

18. అమ్మోనీయుల మార్గమున వెళ్లునప్పుడు

18. 'Today you are to pass through the territory of Moab by way of Ar.

19. వారిని బాధింపవద్దు, వారితో యుద్ధము చేయవద్దు. ఏలయనగా లోతు సంతానమునకు దానిని స్వాస్థ్యముగా ఇచ్చినందున అమ్మోనీయుల దేశములో నీకు స్వాస్థ్యము నియ్యను.

19. You will then be near the land of the Ammonites, the descendants of Lot. Don't trouble them or start a war against them, because I am not going to give you any of the land that I have given them.' '

20. అదియు రెఫాయీయుల దేశమని యెంచబడుచున్నది. పూర్వమందు రెఫాయీ యులు అందులో నివసించిరి. అమ్మోనీయులు వారిని జంజుమీ్మయులందురు.

20. (This territory is also known as the land of the Rephaim, the name of the people who used to live there; the Ammonites called them Zamzummim.

21. వారు అనాకీయులవలె ఉన్నత దేహులు, బలవంతు లైన బహు జనులు. అయితే యెహోవా అమ్మోనీయుల యెదుటనుండి వారిని వెళ్లగొట్టెను గనుక అమ్మోనీయులు వారి దేశమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొని వారి చోట నివసించిరి.

21. They were as tall as the Anakim. There were many of them, and they were a mighty race. But the LORD destroyed them, so that the Ammonites took over their land and settled there.

22. అట్లు ఆయన శేయీరులో నివసించు ఏశావు సంతానముకొరకు చేసెను. ఎట్లనగా ఆయన వారి యెదుటనుండి హోరీయులను నశింపజేసెను గనుక వారు హోరీయుల దేశమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొని నేటి వరకు వారిచోట నివసించుచున్నారు.

22. The LORD had done the same thing for the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, who live in the hill country of Edom. He destroyed the Horites, so that the Edomites took over their land and settled there, where they still live.

23. గాజావరకు గ్రామములలో నివసించిన ఆవీయులను కఫ్తోరులోనుండి బయలుదేరి వచ్చిన కఫ్తారీయులు నశింపజేసి వారిచోట నివసించిరి.

23. The land along the Mediterranean coast had been settled by people from the island of Crete. They had destroyed the Avvim, the original inhabitants, and had taken over all their land as far south as the city of Gaza.)

24. మీరు లేచి సాగి అర్నోను ఏరుదాటుడి; ఇదిగో అమోరీయుడైన హెష్బోను రాజగు సీహోనును అతని దేశమును నీ చేతికి అప్పగించితిని. దాని స్వాధీన పరచుకొన మొదలుపెట్టి అతనితో యుద్ధము చేయుడి.

24. 'After we had passed through Moab, the LORD told us, 'Now, start out and cross the Arnon River. I am placing in your power Sihon, the Amorite king of Heshbon, along with his land. Attack him, and begin occupying his land.

25. నేడు నేను నీవలని భయము నీవలని వెరపు ఆకాశము క్రిందనున్న సమస్త దేశముల వారికిని పుట్టింప మొదలు పెట్టుచున్నాను. వారు నిన్నుగూర్చిన సమాచారము విని నీయెదుట వణకి మనోవేదన నొందుదురు.

25. From today on I will make people everywhere afraid of you. Everyone will tremble with fear at the mention of your name.'

26. అప్పుడు నేను కెదేమోతు అరణ్యములోనుండి హెష్బోను రాజైన సీహోనునొద్దకు దూతలను పంపి

26. 'Then I sent messengers from the desert of Kedemoth to King Sihon of Heshbon with the following offer of peace:

27. నన్ను నీ దేశముగుండ దాటిపోనిమ్ము, కుడియెడమలకు తిరుగక త్రోవనే నడిచిపోవుదును.

27. 'Let us pass through your country. We will go straight through and not leave the road.

28. నాయొద్ద రూకలు తీసికొని తినుటకు భోజనపదార్థములు నా కిమ్ము; నాయొద్ద రూకలు తీసికొని త్రాగుటకు నీళ్లిమ్ము.

28. We will pay for the food we eat and the water we drink. All we want to do is to pass through your country,

29. శేయీరులో నివసించు ఏశావు సంతాన పువారును ఆరులో నివసించు మోయాబీయులును నాకు చేసినట్లు, మా దేవుడైన యెహోవా మాకిచ్చుచున్న దేశములో ప్రవేశించుటకై యొర్దాను దాటువరకు కాలి నడకచేతనే నన్ను వెళ్లనిమ్మని సమాధానపు మాటలు పలికించితిని.

29. until we cross the Jordan River into the land that the LORD our God is giving us. The descendants of Esau, who live in Edom, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, allowed us to pass through their territory.'

30. అయితే హెష్బోను రాజైన సీహోను మనలను తన దేశమార్గమున వెళ్ల నిచ్చు టకు సమ్మతింపలేదు. నేడు జరిగినట్లు నీ చేతికి అతని అప్పగించుటకు నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా అతని మనస్సును కఠినపరచి అతని హృదయమునకు తెగింపు కలుగజేసెను.

30. 'But King Sihon would not let us pass through his country. The LORD your God had made him stubborn and rebellious, so that we could defeat him and take his territory, which we still occupy.

31. అప్పుడు యెహోవాచూడుము; సీహోనును అతని దేశమును నీకు అప్పగింప మొదలు పెట్టియున్నాను. అతని దేశము నీదగునట్లు నీవు దాని స్వాధీనపరచుకొన మొదలు పెట్టుమని నాతో చెప్పెను.

31. 'Then the LORD said to me, 'Look, I have made King Sihon and his land helpless before you; take his land and occupy it.'

32. సీహోనును అతని సమస్త జనమును యాహసులో యుద్ధము చేయుటకై మనకు ఎదు రుగా బయలుదేరి రాగా

32. Sihon came out with all his men to fight us near the town of Jahaz,

33. మన దేవుడైన యెహోవా అతనిని మనకు అప్పగించెను గనుక మనము అతనిని అతని కుమారులను అతని సమస్త జనమును హతము చేసి

33. but the LORD our God put him in our power, and we killed him, his sons, and all his men.

34. ఆ కాల మున అతని సమస్త పురములను పట్టుకొని, ప్రతి పురమును అందలి స్త్రీ పురుషులను పిల్లలను శేషమేమియులేకుండ నాశనము చేసితివిు.

34. At the same time we captured and destroyed every town, and put everyone to death, men, women, and children. We left no survivors.

35. పశువులను మనము పట్టుకొనిన పురముల సొమ్మును దోపిడిగా దోచుకొంటిమి.

35. We took the livestock and plundered the towns.

36. అర్నోను ఏటిలోయ దరినున్న అరోయేరును ఆ యేటియొద్దనున్న పురము మొదలుకొని గిలాదువరకు మనకు అసాధ్యమైన నగర మొకటియు లేకపోయెను. మన దేవుడైన యెహోవా అన్నిటిని మనకు అప్పగించెను.

36. The LORD our God let us capture all the towns from Aroer, on the edge of the Arnon Valley, and the city in the middle of that valley, all the way to Gilead. No town had walls too strong for us.

37. అయితే అమ్మోనీయుల దేశమునకైనను యబ్బోకు ఏటి లోయలోని యే ప్రాంత మునకైనను ఆ మన్నెములోని పురములకైనను మన దేవు డైన యెహోవా పోకూడదని చెప్పిన మరి ఏ స్థలమున కైనను నీవు సమీపింపలేదు.

37. But we did not go near the territory of the Ammonites or to the banks of the Jabbok River or to the towns of the hill country or to any other place where the LORD our God had commanded us not to go.
