1. యొర్దాను అవతలనున్న మన్యములోను లోయలోను లెబానోను నెదుటి మహాసముద్ర తీరమందంతటను ఉన్న హిత్తీయులు అమోరీయులు కనానీయులు పెరిజ్జీయులు హివ్వీయులు యెబూసీయులు అను వారి రాజులందరు జరిగినదానిని వినినప్పుడు

1. Now whan all the kynges that were beyonde Iordane vpon the mountaynes, and in the lowe countrees, & in all the hauens of the greate see, and besyde mount Libanus, herde this (namely, ye Hethites, Amorites, Cananites, Pheresites, Heuites and Iebusytes)

2. వారు యెహోషువతోను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతోను యుద్ధము చేయుటకు కూడివచ్చిరి.

2. they gathered the selues together with one acorde, to fighte agaynst Iosua, and agaynst Israel.

3. యెహోషువ యెరికోకును హాయికిని చేసినదానిని గిబి యోను నివాసులు వినినప్పుడు

3. But whan the inhabiters of Gibeon herde, what Iosua had done with Iericho and Hai,

4. వారు కపటోపాయము చేసి, రాయబారులమని వేషము వేసికొని బయలుదేరి, తమ గాడిదలకు పాత గోనెలుకట్టి పాతగిలి చినిగి కుట్ట బడియున్న ద్రాక్షా రసపు సిద్దెలు తీసికొని

4. they dealte craftely, wete on their waie, and made a message, and toke olde sackes vpon their asses, and olde rente wyne botels,

5. పాతగిలి మాసికలు వేయబడిన చెప్పులు పాదములకు తొడుగుకొని పాతబట్టలు కట్టుకొని వచ్చిరి. వారు ఆహారముగా తెచ్చు కొనిన భక్ష్యములన్నియు ఎండిన ముక్కలుగా నుండెను.

5. and olde mended shues vpon their fete, and put on olde and peced garmentes, and all ye bred of their vytayles was harde and moulde,

6. వారు గిల్గాలునందలి పాళెములోనున్న యెహోషువ యొద్దకు వచ్చిమేము దూరదేశమునుండి వచ్చినవారము, మాతో నొక నిబంధనచేయుడని అతనితోను ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులతోను చెప్పగా

6. and they wente vnto Iosua in to ye hoost at Gilgall, and sayde vnto him, and to euery man in Israel: We are come out of a farre countre, therfore make now a couenaunt wt vs.

7. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులుమీరు మా మధ్యను నివసించుచున్నవారేమో, మేము మీతో ఏలాగు నిబంధన చేయగలమని ఆ హివీ్వ యులతో ననిరి.

7. Then sayde euery man in Israel vnto ye Heuyte: Peraduenture thou dwellest amonge vs, how can I then make a couenaunt with the?

8. వారుమేము నీ దాసులమని యెహోషువతో చెప్పినప్పుడు యెహోషువమీరు ఎవరు? ఎక్కడనుండి వచ్చితిరి? అని వారి నడుగగా

8. They saide vnto Iosua: We are yi seruautes. Iosua sayde vnto them: What are ye, & whence come ye?

9. వారునీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నామ మునుబట్టి నీ దాసులమైన మేము బహుదూరమునుండి వచ్చి తివిు; ఏలయనగా ఆయన కీర్తిని ఆయన ఐగుప్తులో చేసిన సమస్తమును యొర్దానుకు అద్దరినున్న

9. They sayde: Thy seruauntes are come out of a very farre countre, because of the name of the LORDE thy God: for we haue herde the reporte of him, and all that he dyd in Egipte,

10. హెష్బోను రాజైన సీహోను, అష్తారోతులోనున్న బాషాను రాజైన ఓగు అను అమోరీయుల యిద్దరు రాజులకు ఆయన చేసినదంతయు వింటిమి.

10. and all that he dyd vnto the two kynges of the Amorites beyode Iordane, Sihon the kynge at Hesbo, and Og the kynge of Basan, which dwelt at Astaroth.

11. అప్పుడు మా పెద్దలును మా దేశనివాసు లందరును మాతోమీరు ప్రయాణ ముకొరకు ఆహారము చేత పట్టుకొని వారిని ఎదుర్కొనబోయి వారితోమేము మీ దాసులము గనుక మాతో నిబంధనచేయుడి అని చెప్పుడి అనిరి.

11. Therfore sayde oure Elders and all the inhabiters of oure countre: Take fode with you for youre iourney, and go mete them, and saye vnto them: We are youre seruautes, therfore make now a bonde with vs:

12. మీ యొద్దకు రావలెనని బయలుదేరిన దినమున మేము సిద్ధ పరచుకొని మా యిండ్లనుండి తెచ్చు కొనిన మా వేడి భక్ష్యములు ఇవే, యిప్పటికి అవి యెండి ముక్కలాయెను.

12. This oure bred that we toke out of oure houses for oure foode, was new whan we toke or iourney towarde you: but now lo, it is harde & moulde.

13. ఈ ద్రాక్షారసపు సిద్దెలను మేము నింపినప్పుడు అవి క్రొత్తవే, యిప్పటికి అవి చినిగిపోయెను. బహుదూరమైన ప్రయాణము చేసినందున ఈ మా బట్టలును చెప్పులును పాతగిలి పోయెనని అతనితో చెప్పిరి.

13. And these bottels fylled we new, and lo, they are rete. And these oure clothes and shues are waxed olde, by ye reason of the sore longe iourney.

14. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవాచేత సెలవుపొందకయే వారి ఆహారములో కొంత పుచ్చుకొనగా

14. Then the captaynes toke their vytayles, and axed not the mouth of the LORDE.

15. యెహోషువ ఆ వచ్చినవారితో సమాధానపడి వారిని బ్రదుకనిచ్చుటకు వారితో నిబంధనచేసెను. మరియు సమాజప్రధానులు వారితో ప్రమాణము చేసిరి.

15. And Iosua made peace with them, and set vp a couenaunt with them, that they shulde be saued alyue, and the rulers of the congregacion sware vnto them.

16. అయితే వారితో నిబంధన చేసి మూడు దినము లైన తరువాత, వారు తమకు పొరుగు వారు, తమ నడుమను నివసించువారే యని తెలిసికొనిరి.

16. But thre dayes after that they had made a couenaunt with them, they herde, that they were their neghbours, and dwelt amonge them:

17. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు సాగి మూడవనాడు వారి పట్టణము లకు వచ్చిరి; వారి పట్టణములు గిబియోను కెఫీరా బెయే రోతు కిర్యత్యారీము అనునవి.

17. For as the children of Israel wente forth on their iourney, they came on the thirde daye vnto their cities, which are called Gibeon, Caphira, Beeroth, and Cirath Iearim,

18. సమాజ ప్రధానులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాతోడని వారితో ప్రమాణము చేసియుండిరి గనుక ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు వారిని హతముచేయలేదు. కాగా సమాజమంతయు ప్రధా నులకు విరోధముగా మొఱ్ఱపెట్టిరి.

18. and smote the not, because that the rulers of the congregacisn had sworne vnto them by the name of the LORDE the God of Israel. But whan all the congregacion murmured agaynst the rulers,

19. అందుకు సమాజ ప్రధానులందరు సర్వసమాజముతో ఇట్లనిరిమనము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాతోడని వారితో ప్రమాణము చేసితివిు గనుక మనము వారికి హానిచేయ కూడదు.

19. all the rulers sayde vnto the whole congregacion: We haue sworne vnto them by the LORDE the God of Israel, therfore maye we not touch them.

20. మనము వారితో చేసిన ప్రమాణమువలన మనమీదికి కోపము రాకపోవునట్లు ఆ ప్రమాణమునుబట్టి వారిని బ్రదుక నియ్యవలెనని చెప్పి

20. But this wil we do vnto them: Let them lyue, that there come no wrath vpon vs, because of the ooth that we haue made vnto them.

21. వారిని బ్రదుకనియ్యు డని సెలవిచ్చిరి గనుక ప్రధానులు తమతో చెప్పినట్లు వారు సర్వసమాజమునకును కట్టెలు నరుకువారుగాను నీళ్లు చేదువారుగాను ఏర్పడిరి.

21. And the rulers sayde vnto them: Let them lyue, that they maye be hewers of wodd and bearers of water for the whole congregacion, as the rulers haue sayde vnto them.

22. మరియు యెహోషువ వారిని పిలిపించి యిట్లనెనుమీరు మా మధ్యను నివసించువారై యుండియుమేము మీకు బహు దూరముగా నున్న వారమని చెప్పి మమ్ము నేల మోసపుచ్చితిరి?

22. Then Iosua called them, and commened with them, and sayde: Wherfore haue ye disceaued vs, and sayde, that ye were farre from vs, where as ye dwell amonge vs?

23. ఆ హేతువుచేతను మీరు శాపగ్రస్తులగుదురు, దాస్యము మీకెన్నడును మానదు, నా దేవుని ఆలయమునకు మీరు కట్టెలు నరుకువారును నీళ్లు చేదువారునై యుండకమానరు.

23. Therfore shall ye be cursed, so that of you there shall not ceasse seruauntes to hew wodd and to beare water for the house of my God.

24. అందుకు వారు యెహోషువను చూచినీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఈ సమస్త దేశమును మీకిచ్చి, మీ యెదుట నిలువకుండ ఈ దేశనివాసులనందరిని నశింపజేయునట్లు తన సేవకుడైన మోషేకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెనని నీ దాసులకు రూఢిగా తెలుపబడెను గనుక మేము మా ప్రాణముల విషయములో నీవలన మిక్కిలి భయపడి యీలాగు చేసితివిు.

24. They answered Iosua, & sayde: It was tolde thy seruauntes, that the LORDE thy God commaunded Moses his seruaunt, that he shulde geue you the whole lode, and that he wolde destroye all the inhabiters of the londe before you: therfore were we sore afrayed of oure lyues before you, and thus haue we done.

25. కాబట్టి మేము నీ వశమున నున్నాము; మాకేమి చేయుట నీ దృష్టికి న్యాయమో యేది మంచిదో అదే చేయుమని యెహోషువకు ఉత్తర మిచ్చిరి.

25. But now lo, we are in thy handes: loke what thou thinkest good and righte to do vnto vs, that do.

26. కాగా అతడు ఆలాగు చేసి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు గిబియోనీయులను చంపకుండ వారి చేతులలోనుండి విడిపించెను.

26. And he dyd euen so vnto them, and delyuered them from the children of Israels hade, that they shulde not slaye them.

27. అయితే సమాజము కొరకును యెహోవా ఏర్పరచుకొను చోటుననుండు బలి పీఠము కొరకును కట్టెలు నరుకువారుగాను నీళ్లు చేదువారు గాను యెహోషువ ఆ దినమందే వారిని నియమించెను. నేటివరకు వారు ఆ పని చేయువారై యున్నారు.

27. So vpo the same daye Iosua made them hewers of wodd and water bearers for the congregacion, and for the altare of the LORDE vnto this daye, in the place that he shall chose.
