1. యెహోషువ మృతినొందిన తరువాత ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులుకనానీయులతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు తమలో నెవరు ముందుగా వారి మీదికి పోవలసినది యెహోవా తెలియజేయునట్లు ప్రార్థనచేయగా

1. After Joshua's death the people of Israel asked the LORD, 'Which of our tribes should be the first to go and attack the Canaanites?'

2. యెహోవాఆ దేశమును యూదావంశస్థుల కిచ్చియున్నాను, వారు పోవలెనని సెలవిచ్చెను.

2. The LORD answered, 'The tribe of Judah will go first. I am giving them control of the land.'

3. అప్పుడు యూదావంశస్థులు తమ సహోదరులైన షిమ్యోనీయులతోమనము కనా నీయులతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకుమా వంతులోనికి మాతోకూడ రండి, మేమును మీతోకూడ మీ వంతులోనికి వచ్చెదమని చెప్పగా షిమ్యోనీయులు వారితో కూడ పోయిరి.

3. The people of Judah said to the people of Simeon, 'Go with us into the territory assigned to us, and we will fight the Canaanites together. Then we will go with you into the territory assigned to you.' So the tribes of Simeon

4. కనానీయులమీదికి యూదావంశస్థులు పోయినప్పుడు యెహోవా కనానీయులను పెరిజ్జీయులను వారి కప్పగించెను గనుక వారు బెజెకులో పదివేలమంది మనుష్యులను హతముచేసిరి.

4. and Judah went into battle together. The LORD gave them victory over the Canaanites and the Perizzites, and they defeated ten thousand men at Bezek.

5. వారు బెజెకులో అదోనీ బెజెకును చూచి వానితో యుద్ధముచేసి కనానీయులను పెరిజ్జీయులను హతముచేసిరి.

5. They found Adonibezek there and fought him.

6. అదోనీ బెజెకు పారిపోగా వారు అతని తరిమి పట్టుకొని అతని కాలుచేతుల బొట్టన వ్రేళ్లను కోసివేసిరి.

6. He ran away, but they chased him, caught him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

7. Adonibezek said, 'Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have picked up scraps under my table. God has now done to me what I did to them.' He was taken to Jerusalem, where he died.

8. యూదావంశస్థులు యెరూషలేముమీదికి యుద్ధము చేసి దానిని పట్టుకొని కొల్లబెట్టి ఆ పట్టణమును కాల్చి వేసిరి.

8. The people of Judah attacked Jerusalem and captured it. They killed its people and set fire to the city.

9. తరువాత యూదావంశస్థులు మన్యములయందును దక్షిణదేశమందును లోయయందును నివసించిన కనానీయు లతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు పోయిరి.

9. After this they went on to fight the Canaanites who lived in the hill country, in the foothills, and in the dry country to the south.

10. మరియు యూదా వంశస్థులు హెబ్రోనులో నివసించిన కనానీయులమీదికి పోయి, షేషయిని అహీమానును తల్మయిని హతముచేసిరి.

10. They marched against the Canaanites living in the city of Hebron, which used to be called Kiriath Arba. There they defeated the clans of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.

11. ఆ హెబ్రోను పేరు కిర్యతర్బా. అక్కడనుండి వారు దెబీరు నివాసులమీదికి పోయిరి. పూర్వము దెబీరు పేరు కిర్యత్సేఫెరు.

11. From there the men of Judah marched against the city of Debir, at that time called Kiriath Sepher.

12. కాలేబుకిర్యత్సేఫెరును పట్టుకొని కొల్ల బెట్టువానికి నా కుమార్తెయైన అక్సాను ఇచ్చి పెండ్లిచేసెద నని చెప్పగా

12. One of them, called Caleb, said, 'I will give my daughter Achsah in marriage to the man who succeeds in capturing Kiriath Sepher.'

13. కాలేబు తమ్ముడైన కనజు కుమారుడగు ఒత్నీయేలు దాని పట్టుకొనెను గనుక కాలేబు తన కుమార్తె యైన అక్సాను అతనికిచ్చి పెండ్లి చేసెను.

13. Othniel, the son of Caleb's younger brother Kenaz, captured the city, so Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah in marriage.

14. ఆమె తన పెనిమిటి యింట ప్రవేశించినప్పుడు తన తండ్రిని ఒక పొలము అడుగుటకు అతనిని ప్రేరేపించెను. ఆమె గాడిదను దిగగా కాలేబునీకేమి కావలెనని యడిగెను

14. On the wedding day Othniel urged her to ask her father for a field. She got down from her donkey, and Caleb asked her what she wanted.

15. అందుకామెదీవెన దయ చేయుము; నాకు దక్షిణ భూమి ఇచ్చియున్నావు, నీటి మడుగులను కూడ నాకు దయ చేయుమనెను. అప్పుడు కాలేబు ఆమెకు మెరక మడుగులను పల్లపు మడుగులను ఇచ్చెను.

15. She answered, 'I want some water holes. The land you have given me is in the dry country.' So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

16. మోషే మామయైన కేయిను కుమారులు యూదా వంశస్థులతో కూడ ఖర్జూరచెట్ల పట్టణములోనుండి అరాదు దక్షిణదిక్కులోని యూదా అరణ్యమునకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ చేరి ఆ జనముతో నివసించిరి.

16. The descendants of Moses' father-in-law, the Kenite, went on with the people of Judah from Jericho, the city of palm trees, into the barren country south of Arad in Judah. There they settled among the Amalekites.

17. యూదావంశస్థులు తమ సహోదరులైన షిమ్యోనీయులతో కూడ పోయి జెఫ తులో నివసించిన కనానీయులను హతము చేసి పట్టణమును నిర్మూలముచేసి ఆ పట్టణమునకు హోర్మా అను పేరు పెట్టిరి.

17. The people of Judah went with the people of Simeon, and together they defeated the Canaanites who lived in the city of Zephath. They put a curse on the city, destroyed it, and named it Hormah.

18. యూదావంశస్థులు గాజా నుదాని ప్రదేశమును అష్కె లోనును దాని ప్రదేశమును ఎక్రోనును దాని ప్రదేశమును పట్టుకొనిరి.

18. The LORD helped the people of Judah, and they took possession of the hill country. But they did not capture Gaza, Ashkelon, or Ekron, with their surrounding territories. These people living along the coast had iron chariots, and so the people of Judah were not able to drive them out.

19. యెహోవా యూదావంశస్థులకు తోడై యున్నందున వారు మన్యదేశమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొనిరి. అయితే మైదానమందు నివసించువారికి ఇనుపరథములున్నందున వారిని వెళ్లగొట్టలేకపోయిరి.

20. As Moses had commanded, Hebron was given to Caleb, who drove out of the city the three clans descended from Anak.

21. But the people of the tribe of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, and the Jebusites have continued to live there with the people of Benjamin ever since.

22. యోసేపు ఇంటివారు బేతేలుకు వెళ్లినప్పుడు యెహోవా వారికి తోడైయుండెను.

22. The tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh went to attack the city of Bethel, at that time called Luz. The LORD helped them. They sent spies to the city,

23. పూర్వము లూజనబడిన బేతే లును వేగుచూచుటకు యోసేపు ఇంటివారు దూతలను పంపగా

24. ఆ వేగులవారు ఆ పట్టణమునుండి ఒకడు వచ్చుట చూచినీవు దయచేసి యీ పట్టణములోనికి వెళ్లు త్రోవను మాకు చూపినయెడల మేము మీకు ఉపకారము చేసెదమని చెప్పిరి.

24. who saw a man leaving and said to him, 'Show us how to get into the city, and we won't hurt you.'

25. అతడు పట్టణములోనికి పోవు త్రోవను వారికి చూపగా వారు ఆ పట్టణమును కత్తి వాత హతము చేసిరిగాని ఆ మనుష్యుని వాని కుటుంబికుల నందరిని పోనిచ్చిరి.

25. So he showed them, and the people of Ephraim and Manasseh killed everyone in the city, except this man and his family.

26. ఆ మనుష్యుడు హిత్తీయుల దేశము నకు వెళ్లి ఒక పట్టణమును కట్టించి దానికి లూజు అను పేరుపెట్టెను. నేటివరకు దానికదే పేరు.

26. He later went to the land of the Hittites, built a city there, and named it Luz, which is still its name.

27. మనష్షీయులు బేత్షెయానును దాని పల్లెలను, తయి నాకును దాని పల్లెలను, దోరునివాసులను దోరు పల్లెలను, ఇబ్లెయామును దాని పల్లెలను, మెగిద్దో నివాసులను, మెగిద్దో పల్లెలను, స్వాధీనపరచుకొన లేదు; ఏలయనగా కనానీయులు ఆ దేశములో నివసింపవలెనని గట్టిపట్టు పట్టియుండిరి.

27. The tribe of Manasseh did not drive out the people living in the cities of Beth Shan, Taanach, Dor, Ibleam, Megiddo, and the nearby towns; the Canaanites continued to live there.

28. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు బలవంతులైన తరువాత వారు కనానీయుల చేత వెట్టిపనులు చేయించుకొనిరి కాని వారిని బొత్తిగా వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు.

28. When the Israelites became stronger, they forced the Canaanites to work for them, but still they did not drive them all out.

29. ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులు గెజెరులో నివసించిన కనానీయు లను వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు, గెజెరులో కనానీయులు వారి మధ్యను నివసించిరి.

29. The tribe of Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites living in the city of Gezer, and so the Canaanites continued to live there with them.

30. జెబూలూనీయులు కిత్రోను నివాసులను నహలోలు నివాసులను వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు, కనానీయులు వారి మధ్య నివసించి వారికి వెట్టిపనులు చేయువారైరి.

30. The tribe of Zebulun did not drive out the people living in the cities of Kitron and Nahalal, and so the Canaanites continued to live there with them and were forced to work for them.

31. ఆషే రీయులు అక్కో నివాసులను సీదోను నివాసులను అహ్లాబు వారిని అక్జీబువారిని హెల్బావారిని అఫెకువారిని రెహోబు వారిని

31. The tribe of Asher did not drive out the people living in the cities of Acco, Sidon, Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphek, and Rehob.

32. ఆషేరీయులు దేశనివాసులైన కనానీయులను వెళ్లగొట్టక వారి మధ్య నివసించిరి. నఫ్తాలీయులు బేత్షె మెషు వారిని బేతనాతువారిని వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు గాని

32. The people of Asher lived with the local Canaanites, since they had not been driven out.

33. బేత్షెమెషు నివాసులచేతను బేతనాతు నివాసులచేతను వెట్టి పనులు చేయించుకొనిరి.

33. The tribe of Naphtali did not drive out the people living in the cities of Beth Shemesh and Bethanath. The people of Naphtali lived with the local Canaanites, but forced them to work for them.

34. అమోరీయులు దానీయు లను పల్లపు దేశమునకు దిగనియ్యక మన్యమునకు వారిని వెళ్లగొట్టిరి.

34. The Amorites forced the people of the tribe of Dan into the hill country and did not let them come down to the plain.

35. అమోరీయులు అయ్యాలోను నందలి హెరెసు కొండలోను షయల్బీములోను నివసింపవలెనని గట్టి పట్టు పట్టియుండగా యోసేపు ఇంటివారు బలవంతులై వారిచేత వెట్టిపనులు చేయించుకొనిరి

35. The Amorites continued to live at Aijalon, Shaalbim, and Mount Heres, but the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh kept them under their rule and forced them to work for them.

36. అమోరీయుల సరి హద్దు అక్రబ్బీము మొదలుకొని హస్సెలావరకు వ్యాపించెను.

36. North of Sela, the Edomite border ran through Akrabbim Pass.
