1. అప్పుడు ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులు గిద్యోనుతోనీవు మా యెడల చూపిన మర్యాద యెట్టిది? మిద్యానీయులతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు నీవు పోయినప్పుడు మమ్ము నేల పిలువ లేదని చెప్పి అతనితో కఠినముగా కలహించిరి.

1. And the men of Ephraim said to Gideon, What [is] this [that] you have done to us, in that you did not call us when you went to fight with Midian? And they contended with him sharply.

2. అందు కతడుమీరు చేసినదెక్కడ నేను చేసినదెక్కడ? అబీ యెజెరు ద్రాక్షపండ్ల కోతకంటె ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల పరిగె మంచిదికాదా? దేవుడు మిద్యానీయుల అధిపతులైన ఓరేబును జెయేబును మీచేతికి అప్పగించెను; మీరు చేసినట్లు నేను చేయగలనా? అనెను.

2. And he said to them, What have I now done in comparison of you? [Is] not the gleaning of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?

3. The Lord has delivered into your hand the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb; and what could I do in comparison of you? Then was their spirit calmed toward him, when he spoke this word.

4. గిద్యోనును అతనితో నున్న మూడువందల మందియును అలసటగానున్నను, శత్రువులను తరుముచు యొర్దానునొద్దకు వచ్చి దాటిరి.

4. And Gideon came to the Jordan, and went over, himself and the three hundred with him, hungry, yet still pursuing.

5. అతడునా వెంటనున్న జనులు అలసియున్నారు, ఆహార మునకు రొట్టెలు వారికి దయచేయుడి; మేము మిద్యాను రాజులైన జెబహును సల్మున్నాను తరుముచున్నామని సుక్కోతువారితో చెప్పగా

5. And he said to the men of Soccoth, Give some bread to feed this people that follow me; because they are faint, and behold, I am following after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

6. సుక్కోతు అధిపతులు జెబహు సల్మున్నా అను వారి చేతులు ఇప్పుడు నీ చేతికి చిక్కినవి గనుకనా మేము నీ సేనకు ఆహారము ఇయ్యవలె నని యడిగిరి.

6. And the princes of Soccoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your army?

7. అందుకు గిద్యోను ఈ హేతువు చేతను జెబహును సల్మున్నాను యెహోవా నా చేతికప్పగించిన తరువాత నూర్చు కొయ్యలతోను కంపలతోను మీ దేహములను నూర్చి వేయుదునని చెప్పెను.

7. And Gideon said, Therefore when the Lord gives Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then will I tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness, and the Barkenim.

8. అక్కడనుండి అతడు పెనూయేలునకు పోయి ఆలాగుననే వారితోను చెప్పగా సుక్కోతువారు ఉత్తరమిచ్చినట్లు పెనూయేలువారును అతని కుత్తరమిచ్చిరి గనుక అతడు

8. Then he went up to Penuel, and spoke to them likewise. And the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Soccoth [had] answered him.

9. నేను క్షేమముగా తిరిగి వచ్చినప్పుడు ఈ గోపురమును పడగొట్టెదనని పెనూ యేలు వారితో చెప్పెను.

9. And Gideon said to the men of Penuel, When I return in peace, I will break down this tower.

10. అప్పుడు జెబహును సల్ము న్నాయు వారితోకూడ వారి సేనలును, అనగా తూర్పు జనుల సేనలన్నిటిలో మిగిలిన యించు మించు పదునైదు వేలమంది మనుష్యులందరును కర్కోరులో నుండిరి. కత్తి దూయు నూట ఇరువదివేల మంది మనుష్యులు పడిపోయిరి.

10. And Zebah and Zalmunna [were] in Karkor, and their armies [were] with them, about fifteen thousand, all that were left of all the army of the aliens; and those that fell [were] a hundred and twenty thousand men that drew the sword.

11. అప్పుడు గిద్యోను నోబహుకును యొగేబ్బెహకును తూర్పున గుడారములలో నివసించిన వారి మార్గమున పోయి సేన నిర్భయముగా నున్నందున ఆ సేనను హతముచేసెను.

11. And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents, eastward of Nobah and Jogbehah; and he attacked the army, while the camp was secure.

12. జబహు సల్మున్నాయు పారిపోయినప్పుడు అతడు వారిని తరిమి మిద్యాను ఇద్దరు రాజులైన జెబహును సల్మున్నాను పట్టుకొని ఆ సేననంతను చెదరగొట్టెను.

12. And Zebah and Zalmunna fled; and he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and routed all the army.

13. యుద్ధము తీరిన తరువాత యోవాషు కుమారుడైన గిద్యోను

13. And Gideon the son of Joash returned from the battle, down from the battle of Heres.

14. హెరెసు ఎగువనుండి తిరిగి వచ్చి, సుక్కోతు వారిలో ఒక ¸యౌవనుని పట్టుకొని విచారింపగా అతడు సుక్కోతు అధిపతులను పెద్దలలో డెబ్బది యేడుగురు మనుష్యులను పేరు పేరుగా వివరించి చెప్పెను.

14. And he took prisoner a young lad of the men of Soccoth, and questioned him. And he wrote to him the names of the princes of Soccoth and of their elders, seventy-seven men.

15. అప్పుడతడు సుక్కో తువారి యొద్దకు వచ్చిజెబహు సల్మున్నా అను వారిచేతులు నీ చేతికి చిక్కినవి గనుక నా అలసియున్న నీ సేనకు మేము ఆహారము ఇయ్యవలెను అని మీరు ఎవరివిషయము నన్ను దూషించితిరో ఆ జెబహును సల్మున్నాను చూడుడి అని చెప్పి

15. And Gideon came to the princes of Soccoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you reproached me, saying, [Are] the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men that are faint?

16. ఆ ఊరిపెద్దలను పట్టుకొని నూర్చుకొయ్యలను బొమ్మజెముడును తీసికొని వాటివలన సుక్కోతువారికి బుద్ధి చెప్పెను.

16. And he took the elders of the city with the thorns of the wilderness and the Barkenim, and with them he tore the men of the city.

17. మరియు నతడు పెనూయేలు గోపురమును పడ గొట్టి ఆ ఊరివారిని చంపెను.

17. And he overthrew the tower of Penuel, and killed the men of the city.

18. అతడుమీరు తాబోరులో చంపిన మను ష్యులు ఎట్టివారని జెబహును సల్మున్నాను అడుగగా వారునీవంటివారే, వారందరును రాజకుమారులను పోలియుండిరనగా

18. And he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, Where are the men whom you killed in Tabor? And they said, As you [are], so [were] they, according to the likeness of the son of a king.

19. And Gideon said, They were my brothers and the sons of my mother: as the Lord lives, if you had preserved them alive, I would not have slain you.

20. యెహోవా జీవముతోడు, మిమ్మును చంపకుందు నని చెప్పి తన పెద్ద కుమారుడైన యెతెరును చూచినీవు లేచి వారిని చంపుమని చెప్పెను. అతడు చిన్నవాడు గనుక భయపడి కత్తిని దూయలేదు.

20. And he said to Jether his firstborn, Rise and kill them. But the lad drew not his sword, for he was afraid, for he was yet very young.

21. అప్పుడు జెబహు పల్మున్నాలుప్రాయముకొలది నరునికి శక్తియున్నది గనుక నీవు లేచి మామీద పడు మని చెప్పగా గిద్యోను లేచి జెబ హును సల్మున్నాను చంపి వారి ఒంటెల మెడల మీదనున్న చంద్రహారములను తీసికొనెను.

21. And Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise, and fall upon us, for your power is as that of a man. And Gideon arose, and killed Zebah and Zalmunna: and he took the round ornaments that were on the necks of their camels.

22. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు గిద్యోనుతోనీవు మిద్యా నీయుల చేతిలోనుండి మమ్మును రక్షించితివి గనుక నీవును నీ కుమారుడును నీ కుమారుని కుమారుడును మమ్మును ఏల వలెనని చెప్పిరి.

22. And the men of Israel said to Gideon, Rule, my lord, over us, both you and your son, and your son's son; for you have saved us out of the hand of Midian.

23. అందుకు గిద్యోనునేను మిమ్మును ఏలను, నా కుమారుడును మిమ్మును ఏలరాదు, యెహోవా మిమ్మును ఏలునని చెప్పెను.

23. And Gideon said to them, I will not rule, and my son shall not rule among you; [but] the Lord shall rule over you.

24. మరియు గిద్యోనుమీలో ప్రతి వాడు తన దోపుడు సొమ్ములోనున్న పోగులను నాకియ్య వలెనని మనవిచేయుచున్నాననెను. వారు ఇష్మాయేలీయులు గనుక వారికి పోగులుండెను.

24. And Gideon said to them, I will make a request of you: give me every man an earring out of his spoils (for they had golden earrings, for they were Ishmaelites).

25. అందుకు వారుసంతోషముగా మేము వాటి నిచ్చెదమని చెప్పి యొక బట్టను పరచి ప్రతివాడును తన దోపుడుసొమ్ములోనుండిన పోగులను దానిమీద వేసెను.

25. And they said, We will certainly give them. And he opened his garment, and each man cast therein an earring of his spoils.

26. మిద్యాను రాజుల ఒంటి మీదనున్న చంద్రహారములు కర్ణభూషణములు ధూమ్ర వర్ణపు బట్టలు గాకను, ఒంటెల మెడలనున్న గొలుసులు గాకను, అతడు అడిగిన బంగారు పోగుల యెత్తు వెయ్యిన్ని ఏడువందల తులముల బంగారము. గిద్యోను దానితో ఒక ఏఫోదును చేయించుకొని తన పట్టణమైన ఒఫ్రాలో దాని ఉంచెను.

26. And the weight of the golden earrings which he asked was one thousand seven hundred pieces of gold, besides the crescents, and the chains, and the garments, and the purple cloths that were on the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that were on the necks of their camels.

27. కావున ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు అక్కడికి పోయి దాని ననుసరించి వ్యభిచారులైరి. అది గిద్యోను కును అతని యింటివారికిని ఉరిగానుండెను.

27. And Gideon made an ephod of it, an set it in his city in Ephratha; and all Israel went there whoring after it, and it became a stumbling block to Gideon and his house.

28. మిద్యానీ యులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుట అణపబడి అటుతరు వాత తమ తలలను ఎత్తికొనలేకపోయిరి. గిద్యోను దినము లలో దేశము నలువది సంవత్సరములు నిమ్మళముగా నుండెను.

28. Thus Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, and they did not lift up their head any more. And the land had rest forty years in the days of Gideon.

29. తరువాత యోవాషు కుమారుడైన యెరుబ్బయలు తన యింట నివసించుటకు పోయెను.

29. And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his house.

30. గిద్యోనుకు అనేక భార్యలున్నందున కడుపున కనిన డెబ్బదిమంది కుమారులు అతని కుండిరి.

30. And Gideon had seventy sons begotten of his body, for he had many wives.

31. షెకెములోనున్న అతని ఉపపత్నియు అతని కొక కుమారుని కనగా గిద్యోను వానికి అబీమెలెకను పేరు పెట్టెను.

31. And his concubine was in Shechem, and she also bore him a son, and gave him the name Abimelech.

32. యోవాషు కుమారుడైన గిద్యోను మహా వృద్ధుడై చనిపోయి అబీయెజ్రీయుల ఒఫ్రాలోనున్న తన తండ్రియైన యోవాషు సమాధిలో పాతిపెట్టబడెను.

32. And Gideon son of Joash died in his city, and he was buried in the tomb of Joash his father in Ephratha of Abi-Esdri.

33. గిద్యోను చనిపోయిన తరువాత ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు చుట్టునుండు తమ శత్రువులచేతిలోనుండి తమ్మును విడి పించిన తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనక

33. And it came to pass when Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned, and went a whoring after Baalam, and made for themselves a covenant with Baal, that he should be their god.

34. మరల బయలుల ననుసరించి వ్యభిచారులై బయల్బెరీతును తమకు దేవతగా చేసికొనిరి.

34. And the children of Israel remembered not the Lord their God who had delivered them out of the hand of all that afflicted them round about.

35. మరియు వారు గిద్యోనను యెరుబ్బయలు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు చేసిన ఉపకార మంతయుమరచి అతని యింటివారికి ఉపకారము చేయక పోయిరి.

35. And they did not deal mercifully with the house of Jerubbaal, (that is, Gideon) according to all the good which he did to Israel.
