1. అంతట యెహోవా సమూయేలుతో ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద రాజుగా ఉండకుండ నేను విసర్జించిన సౌలునుగూర్చి నీ వెంతకాలము దుఃఖిం తువు? నీ కొమ్మును తైలముతో నింపుము, బేత్లెహేమీయుడైన యెష్షయియొద్దకు నిన్ను పంపుచున్నాను, అతని కుమారులలో ఒకని నేను రాజుగా నియమించుదును.

1. And Yahweh said unto Samuel How long, art thou going to pine for Saul, seeing that, I, have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil, and come! let me send thee unto Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided me, among his sons, a king.

2. సమూయేలునేనెట్లు వెళ్లుదును? నేను వెళ్లిన సంగతి సౌలు వినినయెడల అతడు నన్ను చంపుననగా యెహోవానీవు ఒక పెయ్యను తీసికొనిపోయి యెహోవాకు బలిపశువును వధించుటకై వచ్చితినని చెప్పి

2. And Samuel said, How can I go? As soon as Saul heareth, he will slay me. Then said Yahweh, A heifer, take thou with thee, and say, To sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come.

3. యెష్షయిని బల్యర్పణమునకు పిలువుము; అప్పుడు నీవు చేయవలసిన దానిని నీకు తెలియజేతును; ఎవనిపేరు నేను నీకు చెప్పుదునో అతనిని నీవు అభిషేకింపవలెనని సెలవియ్యగా

3. Then shall thou bid Jesse to the sacrifice, when, I, will let thee know what thou must do, so shalt thou anoint for me him whom I shall name unto thee.

4. సమూయేలు యెహోవా ఇచ్చిన సెలవుచొప్పున బేత్లె హేమునకు వెళ్లెను. ఆ ఊరి పెద్దలు అతని రాకకు భయపడిసమాధానముగా వచ్చుచున్నావా అని అడుగగా

4. And Samuel did that which Yahweh had spoken, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him, and one said Peaceably, comest thou?

5. అతడుసమాధానముగానే వచ్చితిని; మీరు శుద్ధులై నాతోకూడ బలికి రండని చెప్పి, యెష్షయిని అతని కుమారులను శుద్ధి చేసి బలి అర్పించెను.

5. And he said Peaceably: to sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come. Hallow yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he hallowed Jesse and his sons, and bade them to the sacrifice.

6. వారు వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఏలీయాబును చూచినిజముగా యెహోవా అభిషేకించువాడు ఆయన యెదుట నిలిచి యున్నాడని అనుకొనెను

6. And it came to pass, when they entered, that he looked upon Eliab, and said to himself, Surely, before Yahweh, is his Anointed.

7. అయితే యెహోవా సమూ యేలుతో ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను అతని రూపమును అతని యెత్తును లక్ష్యపెట్టకుము, మనుష్యులు లక్ష్యపెట్టువాటిని యెహోవా లక్ష్యపెట్టడు; నేను అతని త్రోసివేసియున్నాను. మనుష్యులు పైరూపమును లక్ష్యపెట్టుదురు గాని యెహోవా హృదయమును లక్ష్యపెట్టును.

7. But Yahweh said unto Samuel Do not regard his countenance, or the height of his stature, for I have rejected him, for it is not what man looketh to but what God looketh to. For, man, looketh to the outward appearance, but, Yahweh, looketh to the heart.

8. యెష్షయి అబీనాదాబును పిలిచి సమూయేలు ఎదుటికి అతని రప్పింపగా అతడుయెహోవా ఇతని కోరుకొన లేదనెను.

8. Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel, and he said, Neither of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.

9. అప్పుడు యెష్షయి షమ్మాను పిలువగా అతడుయెహోవా ఇతనిని కోరుకొనలేదనెను.

9. Then Jesse made Shammah pass by, and he said Nor of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.

10. యెష్షయి తన యేడుగురు కుమారులను సమూయేలు ఎదుటికి పిలువగా సమూయేలుయెహోవా వీరిని కోరుకొనలేదని చెప్పి

10. So Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel, and Samuel said unto Jesse, Yahweh hath not made choice of these.

11. నీ కుమారులందరు ఇక్కడనున్నారా అని యెష్షయిని అడుగగా అతడుఇంకను కడసారివాడున్నాడు. అయితే వాడు గొఱ్ఱెలను కాయుచున్నాడని చెప్పెను. అందుకు సమూయేలునీవు వాని పిలువనంపించుము, అతడిక్కడికి వచ్చువరకు మనము కూర్చుందమని యెష్షయితో చెప్పగా

11. Then said Samuel unto Jesse Are these all the young men? And he said There yet remaineth, the youngest, but lo! he is tending the sheep. Then said Samuel unto Jesse Do, send, and summon him, for we cannot sit round, until he cometh in hither.

12. అతడు వాని పిలువనంపించి లోపలికి తోడుకొనివచ్చెను. అతడు ఎఱ్ఱనివాడును చక్కని నేత్రములు గలవాడును చూచుటకు సుందరమైనవాడునై యుండెను. అతడు రాగానేనేను కోరుకొన్నవాడు ఇతడే, నీవు లేచి వానిని అభిషేకించుమని యెహోవా సెలవియ్యగా

12. So he sent, and brought him in. Now, he, was ruddy, a stripling with handsome eyes, and noble mien. Then said Yahweh Rise anoint him, for, this, is, he.

13. సమూయేలు తైలపు కొమ్మును తీసి వాని సహోదరుల యెదుట వానికి అభిషేకము చేసెను. నాటనుండి యెహోవా ఆత్మ దావీదుమీదికి బలముగా వచ్చెను. తరువాత సమూ యేలు లేచి రామాకు వెళ్లిపోయెను.

13. And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren. And the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily upon David, from that day forward. Then arose Samuel, and went his way unto Ramah.

14. యెహోవా ఆత్మ సౌలును విడిచిపోయి యెహోవా యొద్దనుండి దురాత్మయొకటి వచ్చి అతని వెరపింపగా

14. But, the spirit of Yahweh, departed from Saul, and there terrified him a sad spirit, from Yahweh.

15. సౌలు సేవకులుదేవునియొద్దనుండి వచ్చిన దురాత్మయొకటి నిన్ను వెరపించియున్నది;

15. Then said the servants of Saul unto him, Lo! we pray thee, a sad superhuman spirit, doth terrify thee:

16. మా యేలినవాడవైన నీవు ఆజ్ఞ ఇమ్ము, నీ దాసులమైన మేము సిద్ధముగా నున్నాము. సితారా చమత్కారముగా వాయింపగల యొకని విచా రించుటకై మాకు సెలవిమ్ము దేవుని యొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ వచ్చి నిన్ను పట్టినప్పుడెల్ల అతడు సితారా చేతపట్టుకొని వాయించుటచేత నీవు బాగుపడుదువని అతనితో ననిరి

16. Pray let our lord bid thy servants before thee, seek out a man, skilled in playing on the lyre, so shall it be, when a sad superhuman spirit cometh on thee, then shall he play with his hand, and thou shalt be joyful.

17. సౌలుబాగుగా వాయింపగల యొకని విచారించి నా యొద్దకు తీసికొని రండని తన సేవకులకు సెలవియ్యగా వారిలో ఒకడు

17. And Saul said unto his servants, I pray you, look out for me a man that excelleth in playing, and bring him in unto me.

18. చిత్తగించుము, బేత్లెహేమీయుడైన యెష్షయియొక్క కుమారులలో ఒకని చూచితిని, అతడు చమత్కారముగా వాయింపగలడు, అతడు బహు శూరు డును యుద్ధశాలియు మాట నేర్పరియు రూపసియునై యున్నాడు, మరియు యెహోవా వానికి తోడుగా నున్నాడనగా

18. Then responded one of the young men and said Lo! I have seen a son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite, skilled in playing, and a mighty man of valour, and a man of war, and of intelligent speech, and a handsome man, and, Yahweh, is with him.

19. నున్నాడనగా సౌలుయెష్షయియొద్దకు దూతలను పంపి, గొఱ్ఱెలయొద్ద నున్న నీ కుమారుడైన దావీదును నాయొద్దకు పంపు మనెను.

19. So Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send, unto me David thy son, who is with the sheep.

20. అప్పుడు యెష్షయి ఒక గార్దభముమీద రొట్టెలను ద్రాక్షారసపు తిత్తిని ఒక మేకపిల్లను వేయించి తన కుమారుడైన దావీదుచేత సౌలునొద్దకు పంపెను.

20. Then took Jesse an ass laden with bread, and a skin of wine, and one kid, and sent by the hand of David his son, unto Saul.

21. దావీదు సౌలు దగ్గరకువచ్చి అతనియెదుట నిలువబడగా అతనియందు సౌలునకు బహు ఇష్టము పుట్టెను, అతడు సౌలు ఆయుధములను మోయువాడాయెను.

21. And David came in unto Saul, and stood before him, and he loved him greatly, and he became his armour-bearer.

22. అంతట సౌలుదావీదు నా అను గ్రహము పొందెను గనుక అతడు నా సముఖమందు సేవచేయుటకు ఒప్పుకొనుమని యెష్ష యికి వర్తమానము పంపెను.

22. And Saul sent unto Jesse, saying, I pray thee, let David stand before me, for he hath found favour in mine eyes.

23. దేవునియొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ వచ్చి సౌలును పట్టినప్పుడెల్ల దావీదు సితారా చేతపట్టుకొని వాయింపగా దురాత్మ అతనిని విడిచిపోయెను, అతడు సేదదీరి బాగాయెను.

23. And so it used to be, when a superhuman spirit came unto Saul, then would David take the lyre, and play with his hand, and Saul would be refreshed, and be joyful, and, the sad spirit, would depart from him.
