1. పిమ్మట దావీదు రామాలోని నాయోతునుండి పారి పోయి యోనాతాను నొద్దకు వచ్చినేను ఏమి చేసితిని? నేను చేసిన దోషమేమి? నా ప్రాణము తీయ వెదకునట్లు నీ తండ్రి దృష్టికి నేను చేసిన పాపమేమని యడుగగా

1. And David fled from Naioth in Ramath and went and said before Jonathas: What have I done? wherein am I faulty? what is the sin that I have committed before thy father that he seeketh my life?

2. యానాతానుఆ మాట నీవెన్నటికిని అనుకొనవద్దు, నీవు చావవు; నాకు తెలియజేయకుండ నా తండ్రి చిన్న కార్యమే గాని పెద్దకార్యమేగాని చేయడు; నా తండ్రి ఇదెందుకు నాకు మరుగుచేయుననగా

2. And Jonathas answered him: God forbid, thou shalt not die. For see my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me. For why should my father hide this thing from me? there shall be no such thing.

3. దావీదునేను నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలుడనను సంగతి నీ తండ్రి రూఢిగా తెలిసికొని, యోనాతానునకు చింత కలుగకుండుటకై యిది అతనికి తెలుపననుకొనుచున్నాడు; అయితే యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు నిజముగా నాకును మరణమునకును అడుగు మాత్రమున్నదని ప్రమాణము చేయగా

3. And David sware again and said: thy father knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes and therefore he thinketh, Jonathas shall not know it, lest he be sorry. For in very deed even as truly as the LORD liveth, and as truly as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.

4. యోనాతానునీకేమి తోచునో దానినే నేను నీ యెడల జరుపుదు ననెను.

4. Then said Jonathas unto David, whatsoever thy soul desireth that I will do unto thee.

5. అందుకు దావీదురేపటిదినము అమా వాస్య; అప్పుడు నేను తప్పక రాజుతోకూడ కూర్చుండి భోజనము చేయవలెను; అయితే ఎల్లుండి సాయంత్రమువరకు చేనిలో దాగుటకు నాకు సెలవిమ్ము.

5. And David said unto Jonathas: Behold, tomorrow is the first day of the month, and I should sit with the king at meat. But let me go that I may hide myself in the fields unto this day three days at evening.

6. ఇంతలో నీ తండ్రి నేను లేకపోవుట కనుగొనగా నీవు ఈ మాట చెప్పవలెను. దావీదు ఇంటివారికి ఏటేట బలి చెల్లించుమర్యాద కద్దు. కాబట్టి అతడు బేత్లెహేమను తన పట్టణమునకు పోవలెనని నన్ను బ్రతిమాలి నాయొద్ద సెలవుపుచ్చు కొనెను.

6. If thy father miss me, then say: David asked leave of me, that he might go to Bethlehem to his own city, for there is holden a yearly feast for all his kin.

7. అతడుమంచిదని సెలవిచ్చిన యెడల నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు క్షేమమే కలుగును; అతడు బహుగా కోపించినయెడల అతడు నాకు కీడుచేయ తాత్పర్యము గలవాడై యున్నాడని నీవు తెలిసికొని

7. And if thy father say thus: it is well done, then thy servant shall have peace. But and if he be angry: then be sure that wickedness is utterly concluded of him.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు ఒక ఉపకారము చేయవలెను; ఏమనగా యెహోవా పేరట నీతో నిబంధన చేయుటకై నీవు నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రప్పించితివి; నాయందు దోషమేమైన ఉండిన యెడల నీ తండ్రియొద్దకు నన్నెందుకు తోడుకొని పోదువు? నీవే నన్ను చంపుమని యోనాతానునొద్ద మనవి చేయగా

8. And then thou shalt shew mercy unto thy servant, for thou hast made with me thy servant a bond in the LORD. Notwithstanding if there be in me any trespass, then slay me thyself, for what needeth thee to bring me to thy father?

9. యోనాతానుఆ మాట ఎన్నటికిని అనరాదు; నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని నాకు నిశ్చయమైతే నీతో తెలియజెప్పుదును గదా అని అనగా

9. And Jonathas answered: God keep that from thee, that I should know, that wickedness were concluded of my father, to come upon thee: and should not tell it thee.

10. దావీదునీ తండ్రి నన్నుగూర్చి నీతో కఠినముగా మాటలాడినయెడల దాని నాకు తెలియజేయువారెవరని యోనాతాను నడిగెను.

10. Then said David, who shall tell me, if thy father answer cruelly?

11. అందుకు యోనాతానుపొలము లోనికి వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా, ఇద్దరును పొలములోనికి పోయిరి.

11. Then said Jonathas to David, come and let us go out into the fields. And they went out both of them into the fields.

12. అప్పుడు యోనాతానుఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు దేవుడైన యెహోవా సాక్షి; రేపైనను ఎల్లుండియైనను ఈ వేళప్పుడు నా తండ్రిని శోధింతును; అప్పుడు దావీదునకు క్షేమ మవునని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల నేను ఆ వర్తమానము నీకు పంపక పోవుదునా?

12. And Jonathas said unto David: O LORD God of Israel, when I have groped my father's mind, one time or other within this three days, that it stand well with David: and I then send not unto thee and shew it thee, the LORD do so and so unto Jonathas.

13. అయితే నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల దాని నీకు తెలియజేసి నీవు క్షేమముగా వెళ్లునట్లు నిన్ను పంపివేయనియెడల యెహోవా నాకు గొప్ప అపాయము కలుగజేయుగాక. యెహోవా నా తండ్రికి తోడుగా ఉండినట్లు నీకును తోడుగా ఉండునుగాక.

13. And in like manner, if evil to thee ward please my father, I will shew thee and send thee away, that thou mayst go in peace. And the LORD be with thee as he hath been with my father.

14. అయితే నేను బ్రదికియుండినయెడల నేను చావకుండ యెహోవా దయచూపునట్లుగా నీవు నాకు దయచూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి,

14. And thou shalt perform unto me the mercy of the LORD, not only while I live but even when I am dead pluck not thy mercy away from my house forever:

15. నేను చనిపోయినయెడల యెహోవా దావీదు శత్రువులను ఒకడైన భూమిమీద నిలువకుండ నిర్మూలము చేసిన తరువాత నీవు నా సంతతివారికి దయ చూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి యెహోవా నిన్ను విసర్జించును గాక.

15. No not when the LORD hath destroyed the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.

16. ఈలాగున యెహోవా దావీదుయొక్క శత్రువుల చేత దాని విచారించునట్లుగా యోనాతాను దావీదు సంతతివారిని బట్టి నిబంధన చేసెను.

16. And so Jonathas made a bond with the house of David, desiring that the LORD should seek out of the hands of David's enemies their wickedness.

17. యోనాతాను దావీదును తన ప్రాణస్నేహితునిగా ప్రేమించెను గనుక ఆ ప్రేమనుబట్టి దావీదుచేత మరల ప్రమాణము చేయించెను.

17. And with other words Jonathas adjured David, because he loved him. For as his own soul he loved him.

18. మరియు యోనాతాను దావీదుతో ఇట్లనెనురేపటిదినము అమావాస్య; నీ స్థలము ఖాళిగా కనబడును గదా;

18. Then said Jonathas to David: tomorrow shall be the first day of the moon. And thou shalt be missed, because the place shall appear empty.

19. నీవు మూడు దినములు ఆగి, యీ పని జరుగు చుండగా నీవు దాగియున్న స్థలమునకు త్వరగా వెళ్లి ఏసెలు అనుబండ దగ్గర నుండుము

19. But this day three days come in any wise unto the place where thou shalt hide thy self, when it is workday: even by the stone Esell.

20. గురి చూచి ప్రయో గించినట్టు నేను మూడు బాణములను దాని ప్రక్కకు కొట్టి

20. And I will shoot three arrows by the one side thereof, as though I shot at a mark, and will send after a lad, and bid him go seek the arrows.

21. నీవు వెళ్లి బాణములను వెదకుమని ఒక పనివానితో చెప్పుదునుబాణములు నీకు ఈ తట్టున నున్నవి, పట్టుకొని రమ్మని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల నీవు బయటికి రావచ్చును; యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీకు ఏ అపా యమును రాక క్షేమమే కలుగును.

21. If I say unto the lad: see the arrows are on this side thee, bring them: then come thou: for it is peace and nothing to do, as sure as the LORD liveth.

22. అయితేబాణములు నీకు అవతల నున్నవని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల పారిపొమ్మని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని తెలిసికొని నీవు ప్రయాణమై పోవలెను.

22. But and if I say thus unto the young fellow, behold, the Arrows are beyond thee, then go, for the LORD hath sent thee away.

23. అయితే మనమిద్దరము మాటలాడిన సంగతిని జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము; నీకును నాకును సర్వకాలము యెహోవాయే సాక్షి.

23. And of this which thou and I have spoke: behold the LORD is witness between thee and me for ever.

24. కాబట్టి దావీదు పొలములో దాగుకొనెను; అమావాస్య వచ్చినప్పుడు రాజు భోజనము చేయకూర్చుండగా

24. And so David hid himself in the field. And when the new moon was come, the king sat him down at meat, for to eat.

25. మునుపటివలెనే రాజు గోడదగ్గర నున్న స్థలమందు తన ఆసనముమీద కూర్చునియుండెను. యోనాతాను లేవగా అబ్నేరు సౌలునొద్ద కూర్చుండెను; అయితే దావీదు స్థలము ఖాళిగా నుండెను.

25. And the king sat him down after the old manner, in his seat by the wall. And Jonathas arose, and Abner sat by Saul's side, and David's place was empty.

26. అయినను అతనికి ఏదో ఒకటి సంభవించినందున అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండునేమో, అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండుట యవశ్యమని సౌలు అనుకొని ఆ దినమున ఏమియు అనలేదు.

26. Nevertheless yet Saul said nothing at all that day. For he thought something had chanced him that he is not clean.

27. అయితే అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు, అనగా రెండవ దినమున దావీదు స్థలములో ఎవడును లేకపోవుట చూచి సౌలునిన్నయు నేడును యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భోజనమునకు రాక పోవుట ఏమని యోనాతాను నడుగగా

27. But on the morrow which was the second day of the moon, when David's place appeared empty, Saul said unto Jonathas his son: wherefore cometh not the son of Isai to meat, neither yesterday nor today?

28. యోనా తానుదావీదు బేత్లెహేమునకు పోవలెనని కోరి

28. And Jonathas answered unto Saul, David asked licence of me to go to Bethlehem saying:

29. దయచేసి నన్ను పోనిమ్ము, పట్టణమందు మా యింటివారు బలి అర్పింపబోవుచున్నారునీవును రావలెనని నా సహోదరుడు నాకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను గనుక నీ దృష్టికి నేను దయ పొందిన వాడనైతే నేను వెళ్లి నా సహోదరులను దర్శించునట్లుగా నాకు సెలవిమ్మని బ్రతి మాలుకొని నాయొద్ద సెలవు తీసికొనెను; అందు నిమిత్తమే అతడు రాజు భోజనపు బల్ల యొద్దకు రాలేదని సౌలుతో చెప్పగా

29. let me go I pray thee, for our kindred hold an offering in the city, and my brother hath sent for me. Now therefore if I have found favour in thine eyes let me go and see my brother. And therefore he cometh not unto the table of the king.

30. సౌలు యోనా తానుమీద బహుగా కోపపడి - ఆగడగొట్టుదాని కొడుకా, నీకును నీ తల్లి మానమునకును సిగ్గుకలుగునట్లుగా నీవు యెష్షయి కుమారుని స్వీకరించిన సంగతి నాకు తెలిసి నది కాదా?

30. Then was Saul angry with Jonathas and said unto him: O froward and rebellious, thinkest thou I know not how thou hast chosen the son of Isai unto thine own rebuke, and unto the rebuke and shame of thy mother.

31. యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భూమిమీద బ్రదుకునంత కాలము నీకైనను నీ రాజ్యమునకైనను స్థిరత కలుగదు గదా; కాబట్టి నీవు వర్తమానము పంపి అతనిని నా దగ్గరకు రప్పించుము, నిజముగా అతడు మరణమున కర్హుడని చెప్పెను.

31. For as long as the son of Isai lieth upon the earth, thou shalt not be stablished, nor yet thy kingdom, wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he is the child of death.

32. అంతట యోనాతాను అత డెందుకు మరణ శిక్ష నొందవలెను? అతడు ఏమి చేసెనని సౌలు నడుగగా

32. But Jonathas answered Saul his father and said to him: wherefore should he die? what hath he done?

33. సౌలు అతనిని పొడువవలెనని యీటె విసిరెను; అందువలన తన తండ్రి దావీదును చంపనుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని యోనా తాను తెలిసికొని

33. Then Saul cast a spear at him to hit him, whereby Jonathas wist well, that it was utterly determined of his father, to slay David.

34. అత్యాగ్రహుడై బల్ల యొద్దనుండి లేచి, తన తండ్రి దావీదును అవమానపరచినందున అతని నిమిత్తము దుఃఖాక్రాంతుడై అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు భోజనము చేయకుండెను.

34. And so Jonathas arose from the table in a great anger and did eat no meat the second day of the month, for he was sorry for David, because his father had done him shame.

35. ఉదయమున యోనాతాను దావీదుతో నిర్ణయముచేసి కొనిన వేళకు ఒక పనివాని పిలుచుకొని పొలములోనికి పోయెను.

35. On the next morning Jonathas went out unto the field, at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.

36. నీవు పరుగెత్తికొనిపోయి నేను వేయు బాణ ములను వెదకుమని ఆ పనివానితో అతడు చెప్పగా వాడు పరుగెత్తుచున్నప్పుడు అతడు ఒక బాణము వాని అవతలకు వేసెను.

36. And he said unto the boy: run and find out mine arrows which I shoot. And as the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.

37. అయితే వాడు యోనాతాను వేసిన బాణము ఉన్నచోటునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడు యోనాతాను వాని వెనుకనుండి కేక వేసి - బాణము నీ అవతలనున్నదని చెప్పి

37. And when the lad was come to the place whither Jonathas had shot the arrow, Jonathas cried after him and said: the arrow is beyond thee.

38. వాని వెనుక నుండి కేకవేసినీవు ఆలస్యము చేయక దబ్బున రమ్మనెను; యోనాతాను పనివాడు బాణములను కూర్చుకొని తన యజమానునియొద్దకు వాటిని తీసికొని వచ్చెను గాని

38. And he cried after the lad: haste, make speed and stand not still. And Jonathas' lad gathered up the arrow and came to his master.

39. సంగతి ఏమియు వానికి తెలియక యుండెను. యోనాతానునకును దావీదునకును మాత్రము ఆ సంగతి తెలిసి యుండెను.

39. But the lad wist(knew) nothing of the matter: Onely Jonathas and David wist it.

40. యోనాతాను తన ఆయుధములను వాని చేతికిచ్చివీటిని పట్టణ మునకు తీసికొని పొమ్మని చెప్పి వాని పంపివేసెను.

40. Then Jonathas gave his weapons unto the lad and said unto him: go and carry them to the town.

41. వాడు వెళ్లిపోయిన వెంటనే దావీదు దక్షిణపు దిక్కునుండి బయటికి వచ్చి మూడు మారులు సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారము చేసిన తరవాత వారు ఒకరినొకరు ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనుచు ఏడ్చుచుండిరి. ఈలా గుండగా దావీదు మరింత బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చెను.

41. And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place that was toward the south and fell on his face to the ground and bowed himself three times. And they kissed either other and wept together, but David more abundantly.

42. అంతట యోనాతానుయెహోవా నీకును నాకును మధ్యను నీ సంతతికిని నా సంతతికిని మధ్యను ఎన్నటెన్నటికి సాక్షిగా నుండునుగాక. మనమిద్దరము యెహోవా నామమును బట్టి ప్రమాణము చేసికొని యున్నాము గనుక మన స్సులో నెమ్మది గలిగి పొమ్మని దావీదుతో చెప్పగా దావీదు లేచి వెళ్లిపోయెను; యోనాతానును పట్టణమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

42. And Jonathas said to David: go in peace which we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD saying: the LORD be between thee and me, and between thy seed and mine for ever. And he rose and departed. And Jonathas went in to the town.
