1. తరువాత ఫిలిష్తీయులు కెయీలామీద యుద్ధము చేసి కల్లములమీది ధాన్యమును దోచుకొనుచున్నారని దావీదునకు వినబడెను.

1. David was told, 'The P'lishtim are fighting Ke'ilah and plundering the threshing-floors.'

2. అంతట దావీదునేను వెళ్లి యీ ఫిలిష్తీయులను హతము చేయుదునా అని యెహోవా యొద్ద విచారణచేయగా యెహోవానీవు వెళ్లి ఫిలిష్తీ యులను హతముచేసి కెయీలాను రక్షించుమని దావీదునకు సెలవిచ్చెను.

2. David consulted ADONAI, asking, 'Should I go and attack these P'lishtim?' ADONAI answered David, 'Go, and attack the P'lishtim, and save Ke'ilah.'

3. దావీదుతో కూడియున్న జనులుమేము ఇచ్చట యూదా దేశములో ఉండినను మాకు భయముగా నున్నది; ఫిలిష్తీయుల సైన్యములకెదురుగా కెయీలాకు మేము వచ్చినయెడల మరింత భయము కలుగును గదా అని దావీదుతో అనగా

3. David's men said to him, 'Look, we're already afraid here in Y'hudah. How much more, then, if we go to Ke'ilah to fight the armies of the P'lishtim!'

4. దావీదు మరల యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేసెనునీవు లేచి కెయీలాకు వెళ్లుము, ఫిలిష్తీయులను నీ చేతికి అప్పగించుదునని యెహోవా సెలవియ్యగా

4. David consulted ADONAI again; and ADONAI answered him, 'Set out, and go down to Ke'ilah, because I will hand the P'lishtim over to you.'

5. దావీదును అతని జనులును కెయీలాకు వచ్చి ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసి వారిని లెస్సగా హతముచేసి వారి పశువులను దోచుకొనివచ్చిరి. ఈలాగున దావీదు కెయీలా కాపురస్థులను రక్షించెను.

5. David and his men went to Ke'ilah and fought the P'lishtim. They defeated them in a great slaughter and led away their livestock. Thus David saved the inhabitants of Ke'ilah.

6. అహీమెలెకు కుమారుడైన అబ్యాతారు ఏఫోదు చేత పట్టుకొని పారిపోయి కెయీలాలోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు వచ్చెను.

6. When Avyatar the son of Achimelekh fled to David in Ke'ilah, he had brought a ritual vest with him.

7. దావీదు కెయీలాకు వచ్చిన సంగతి సౌలు విని దావీదు ద్వారములును అడ్డుగడలునుగల పట్టణములో ప్రవేశించి అందులో మూయబడి యున్నాడు, దేవుడతనిని నా చేతికి అప్పగించెనను కొనెను.

7. Now Sha'ul, on being informed that David had gone to Ke'ilah, had said, 'God has put him into my hands. He's trapped himself by entering a town with gates and bars.'

8. కాబట్టి సౌలు కెయీలాకు పోయి దావీదును అతని జనులను ముట్టడింప వలెనని జనులందరిని యుద్ధమునకు పిలువనంపించెను.

8. So Sha'ul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Ke'ilah and besiege David and his men.

9. సౌలు తనకు కీడే యుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని దావీదు ఎరిగి యాజకుడైన అబ్యాతారును ఏఫోదును తెమ్మనెను.

9. David knew that Sha'ul was plotting something against him, so he told Avyatar the [cohen], 'Bring the ritual vest here.'

10. అప్పుడు దావీదుఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవా యెహోవా, సౌలు కెయీలాకు వచ్చి నన్నుబట్టి పట్టణమును పాడుచేయ నుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని నీ దాసుడనైన నాకురూఢిగా తెలియబడి యున్నది.

10. Then David said, 'ADONAI God of Isra'el, your servant has certainly heard that Sha'ul intends to come to Ke'ilah and destroy the city just to get me.

11. కెయీలా జనులు నన్ను అతని చేతికి అప్పగించుదురా? నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వినబడినట్లు సౌలు దిగివచ్చునా? ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవా యెహోవా, దయచేసి నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు దానిని తెలియజేయుమని ప్రార్థింపగా అతడు దిగివచ్చునని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చెను.

11. Will the men of Ke'ilah turn me over to him? Will Sha'ul come down, as your servant has heard? ADONAI God of Isra'el, please tell your servant!' ADONAI said, 'He will come down.'

12. కెయీలా జనులు నన్ను నా జనులను సౌలు చేతికి అప్పగించుదురా అని దావీదు మరల మనవి చేయగా యెహోవావారు నిన్ను అప్ప గించుదురని సెలవిచ్చెను.

12. Then David asked, 'Will the men of Ke'ilah hand me and my men over to Sha'ul?' ADONAI said, 'They will hand you over.'

13. అంతట దావీదును దాదాపు ఆరువందల మందియైన అతని జనులును లేచి కెయీలాలో నుండి తరలి, ఎక్కడికి పోగలరో అక్కడకు వెళ్లిరి. దావీదు కెయీలాలోనుండి తప్పించుకొనిన సంగతి సౌలు విని వెళ్లక మానెను.

13. So David and his men, now around six hundred, got up, left Ke'ilah and went wherever they could. It was told Sha'ul that David had escaped from Ke'ilah, so he called off the expedition.

14. అయితే దావీదు అరణ్యములోని కొండస్థలముల యందును, జీఫు అను అరణ్యమున ఒక పర్వతమందును నివాసము చేయుచుండెను; సౌలు అనుదినము అతని వెదకినను దేవుడు సౌలుచేతికి అతని నప్పగించలేదు.

14. David stayed in the desert strongholds, remaining in the hills of the Zif Desert. Sha'ul kept trying to find him, but God did not hand him over to him.

15. తన ప్రాణము తీయుటకై సౌలు బయలుదేరెనని తెలిసికొని దావీదు జీఫు అరణ్యములో ఒక వనమున దిగెను.

15. David saw that Sha'ul had mounted another expedition to seek his life. David was then at Horesh in the Zif Desert.

16. అప్పుడు సౌలు కుమారుడైన యోనాతాను లేచి, వనము లోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు వచ్చినా తండ్రియైన సౌలు నిన్ను పట్టుకొనజాలడు, నీవు భయపడవద్దు,

16. Y'honatan Sha'ul's son set out and went to David at Horesh to encourage him in God.

17. నీవు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకు రాజ వగుదువు, నేను నీకు సహకారినౌదును, ఇది నా తండ్రి యైన సౌలునకు తెలిసియున్నదని అతనితో చెప్పి దేవునిబట్టి అతని బలపరచెను.

17. He said to him, 'Don't be afraid, because my father's forces will not find you; you will be king over Isra'el, and I will be second to you. Sha'ul my father knows this, too.'

18. వీరిద్దరు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిబంధన చేసికొనిన తరువాత దావీదు వనములో నిలిచెను, యోనాతాను తన యింటికి తిరిగి వెళ్లెను.

18. Then the two of them made a covenant in the presence of ADONAI, after which David stayed at Horesh and Y'honatan returned home.

19. జీఫీయులు బయలుదేరి గిబియాలోనున్న సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చియెషీమోనుకు దక్షిణమున నున్న హకీలామన్యము లోని అరణ్యమున కొండ స్థలములయందు మా మధ్య దావీదు దాగియున్నాడే.

19. The people of Zif came to Sha'ul in Giv'ah and said, 'David is hiding himself with us in the strongholds at Horesh, on Hakhilah Hill, south of Yeshimon.

20. రాజా, నీ మనోభీష్టమంతటి చొప్పున దిగిరమ్ము; రాజవైన నీ చేతికి అతనిని అప్పగించుట మా పని అని చెప్పగా

20. So now, king, since you've wanted so much to come down, come down! Our part will be to turn him over to you.'

21. సౌలు వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమీరు నాయందు కనికరపడినందుకై మీకు యెహోవా ఆశీర్వాదము కలుగును గాక.

21. Sha'ul said, 'May ADONAI bless you for showing me compassion!

22. మీరు పోయి అతడు ఉండుస్థలము ఏదయినది, అతనిని చూచినవాడు ఎవడయినది నిశ్చయముగా తెలిసికొనుడి; అతడు బహు యుక్తిగా ప్రవర్తించుచున్నాడని నాకు వినబడెను గనుక

22. Please go and make still more certain exactly where he is and who has seen him there, because I've been told that he's very tricky.

23. మీరు బహు జాగ్రత్తగా నుండి, అతడుండు మరుగు తావులను కని పెట్టియున్న సంగతియంత నాకు తెలియజేయుటకై మరల నాయొద్దకు తప్పక రండి, అప్పుడు నేను మీతో కూడా వత్తును, అతడు దేశములో ఎక్కడనుండినను యూదావారందరిలో నేను అతని వెదకి పట్టుకొందును.

23. So look closely, find out where all his hiding-places are, and come back when you're sure. Then I will go with you, and if he is there in that territory, I'll search till I find him among all the thousands of Y'hudah.'

24. అంతట వారు లేచి సౌలుకంటె ముందు జీఫునకు తిరిగి వెళ్లిరి. దావీదును అతని జనులును యెషీమోనుకు దక్షిణపు వైపుననున్న మైదానములోని మాయోను అరణ్యములో ఉండగా

24. They set out and went to Zif before Sha'ul. But David and his men had gone on to the Ma'on Desert, in the 'Aravah south of Yeshimon.

25. సౌలును అతని జనులును తన్ను వెదకుటకై బయలుదేరిన మాట దావీదు విని, కొండ శిఖరము దిగి మాయోను అరణ్యమందు నివాసము చేసెను. సౌలు అది విని మాయోను అరణ్యములో దావీదును తరుమ బోయెను.

25. Sha'ul and his men went searching for him. David was told, so he came down to the rock and stayed in the Ma'on Desert. When Sha'ul heard that, he pursued David in the Ma'on Desert.

26. అయితే సౌలు పర్వతము ఈ తట్టునను దావీదును అతని జనులును పర్వతము ఆ తట్టునను పోవుచుండగా దావీదు సౌలుదగ్గరనుండి తప్పించుకొని పోవలెనని త్వరపడుచుండెను. సౌలును అతని జనులును దావీదును అతని జనులను పట్టుకొనవలెనని వారిని చుట్టు కొనుచుండిరి.

26. Sha'ul went along one side of the mountain, while David and his men went along the other. David was hurrying to get away from Sha'ul, while Sha'ul and his men were trying to surround David and his men in order to capture them.

27. ఇట్లుండగా దూత యొకడు సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చినీవు త్వరగా రమ్ము, ఫిలిష్తీయులు దండెత్తి వచ్చి దేశములో చొరబడియున్నారని చెప్పగా

27. But then a messenger came to Sha'ul, saying, 'Hurry, come, because the P'lishtim are invading the country!'

28. సౌలు దావీదును తరుముట మాని వెనుకకు తిరిగి ఫిలిష్తీయులను ఎదుర్కొనబోయెను. కాబట్టి సెలహమ్మలెకోతు అని ఆ స్థలమునకు పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

28. So Sha'ul stopped chasing David and went to fight the P'lishtim. Therefore they called that place Sela-Hamachlekot [[rock of divisions]].
