1. సమూయేలు మృతినొందగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు కూడుకొని అతడు చనిపోయెనని ప్రలాపించుచు, రామా లోనున్న అతని ఇంటి నివేశనములో అతని సమాధిచేసిన తరువాత దావీదు లేచి పారాను అరణ్యమునకు వెళ్ళెను.

1. And Samuel died; and all the Israelites assembled, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

2. కర్మెలులోని మాయోనునందు ఆస్తిగలవాడొకడు కాపురముండెను. అతడు బహు భాగ్యవంతుడు, అతనికి మూడువేల గొఱ్ఱెలును వెయ్యి మేకలును ఉండెను. అతడుకర్మెలులో తన గొఱ్ఱెల బొచ్చు కత్తిరించుటకై పోయి యుండెను.

2. And {there} was a man in Maon, whose possessions {were} in Carmel; and the man {was} very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

3. Now the name of the man {was} Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and {she was} a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man {was} churlish and evil in his doings; and he {was} of the house of Caleb.

4. నాబాలు గొఱ్ఱెలబొచ్చు కత్తెర వేయించుచున్నాడని అరణ్యమందున్న దావీదు విని

4. And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep.

5. తన పని వారిలో పదిమందిని పిలిచి వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమీరు కర్మెలునకు నాబాలు నొద్దకు పోయి, నా పేరు చెప్పి కుశల ప్రశ్నలడిగి

5. And David sent ten young men, and David said to the young men, Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:

6. ఆ భాగ్యవంతునితోనీకును నీ యింటికిని నీకు కలిగిన అంతటికిని క్షేమమవునుగాక అని పలికి యీ వర్తమానము తెలియజెప్పవలెను.

6. And thus shall ye say to him that liveth {in prosperity}, Peace {be} both to thee, and peace {be} to thy house, and peace {be} to all that thou hast.

7. నీ యొద్ద గొఱ్ఱెలబొచ్చు కత్తిరించు వారున్నారను సంగతి నాకు వినబడెను; నీ గొఱ్ఱెకాపరులు మా దగ్గరనుండగా మేము వారికి ఏ కీడునుచేసి యుండలేదు; వారు కర్మెలులో నున్నంతకాలము వారేదియు పోగొట్టుకొనలేదు;

7. And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds who were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there aught missing to them, all the while they were in Carmel.

8. నీ పని వారిని నీవు అడిగినయెడల వారాలాగు చెప్పుదురు. కాబట్టి నా పనివారికి దయ చూపుము. శుభదినమున మేము వచ్చితివిు గదా; నీ కిష్టము వచ్చినట్టు నీ దాసులకును నీ కుమారుడైన దావీదునకును ఇమ్ము.

8. Ask thy young men, and they will show thee. Wherefore let the young men find favor in thy eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatever cometh to thy hand, to thy servants, and to thy son David.

9. దావీదు పనివారు వచ్చి అతని పేరు చెప్పి ఆ మాటలన్నిటిని నాబాలునకు తెలియజేసి కూర్చుండగా

9. And when David's young men came, they spoke to Nabal in the name of David, according to all these words, and ceased.

10. నాబాలు-దావీదు ఎవడు? యెష్షయి కుమారుడెవడు? తమ యజ మానులను విడిచి పారిపోయిన దాసులు ఇప్పుడు అనేకు లున్నారు.

10. And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who {is} David? and who {is} the son of Jesse? there are many servants in these days that break away every man from his master.

11. నేను సంపాదించుకొనిన అన్నపానము లను, నా గొఱ్ఱెలబొచ్చు కత్తిరించువారికొరకు నేను వధించిన పశుమాంసమును తీసి, నేను బొత్తిగా ఎరుగని వారి కిత్తునా? అని దావీదు దాసులతో చెప్పగా

11. Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give {it} to men, whom I know not whence they {are}?

12. దావీదు పనివారు వెనుకకు తిరిగి దోవపట్టుకొని పోయి అతనికి ఈ మాటలన్నియు తెలియజేసిరి.

12. So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all these sayings.

13. అంతట దావీదు వారితోమీరందరు మీ కత్తులను ధరించుకొను డనగా వారు కత్తులు ధరించుకొనిరి, దావీదు కూడను కత్తి ఒకటి ధరించెను. దావీదు వెనుక దాదాపు నాలుగు వందలమంది బయలుదేరగా రెండువందల మంది సామాను దగ్గర నిలిచిరి.

13. And David said to his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the goods.

14. పనివాడు ఒకడు నాబాలు భార్యయైన అబీగయీలుతో ఇట్లనెను అమ్మా, దావీదు అరణ్యములో నుండి, మన యజమానుని కుశల ప్రశ్నలడుగుటకై దూతలను పంపించగా అతడు వారితో కఠినముగా మాట లాడెను.

14. But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers from the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed at them.

15. అయితే ఆ మనుష్యులు మాకెంతో ఉపకారము చేసియున్నారు మేము పొలములో వారి మధ్యను సంచరించుచున్నంత సేపు అపాయము గాని నష్టముగాని మాకు సంభవింపనేలేదు.

15. But the men {were} very good to us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:

16. మేము గొఱ్ఱెలను కాయు చున్నంతసేపు వారు రాత్రింబగళ్లు మాచుట్టు ప్రాకారముగా ఉండిరి.

16. They were a wall to us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.

17. అయితే మా యజమానునికిని అతని ఇంటి వారికందరికిని వారు కీడుచేయ నిశ్చయించి యున్నారు గనుక ఇప్పుడు నీవు చేయవలసినదానిని బహు జాగ్రత్తగా ఆలోచించుము. మన యజమానుడు బహు పనికి మాలినవాడు, ఎవనిని తనతో మాటలాడ నీయడు అనెను.

17. Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do: for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he {is such} a son of Belial, that {a man} cannot speak to him.

18. అందుకు అబీగయీలు నాబాలుతో ఏమియు చెప్పక త్వరపడి రెండువందల రొట్టెలను, రెండు ద్రాక్షారసపు తిత్తులను, వండిన అయిదు గొఱ్ఱెల మాంస మును, అయిదు మానికల వేచిన ధాన్యమును, నూరు ద్రాక్షగెలలను, రెండువందల అంజూరపు అడలను గార్ద భములమీద వేయించి

18. Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched {corn}, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid {them} on asses.

19. మీరు నాకంటె ముందుగా పోవుడి, నేను మీ వెనుకనుండి వచ్చెదనని తన పనివారికి ఆజ్ఞనిచ్చి

19. And she said to her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal.

20. గార్దభముమీద ఎక్కి పర్వతపు లోయలోనికి వచ్చుచుండగా, దావీదును అతని జనులును ఆమెకు ఎదురుపడిరి, ఆమె వారిని కలిసి కొనెను.

20. And it was {so}, {as} she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and behold, David and his men came down over against her; and she met them.

21. అంతకుమునుపు దావీదునాబాలునకు కలిగిన దాని అంతటిలో ఏదియు పోకుండ ఈ అరణ్యములో అతని ఆస్తి అంతయు నేను వ్యర్థముగా కాయుచు వచ్చితిని; ఉపకారమునకు నాకు అపకారము చేసియున్నాడే

21. (Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this {man} hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that {pertained} to him: and he hath requited me evil for good.

22. అని అనుకొని అతనికున్న వారిలో ఒక మగపిల్లవానినైనను తెల్లవారునప్పటికి నేనుండనియ్యను; లేదా దేవుడు మరి గొప్ప అపాయము దావీదు శత్రువులకు కలుగ జేయునుగాక అని ప్రమాణము చేసియుండెను.

22. So and more also do God to the enemies of David, if I leave of all that {pertain} to him by the morning light any male person.)

23. అబీగయీలు దావీదును కనుగొని, గార్దభముమీదనుండి త్వరగా దిగి దావీదునకు సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారముచేసి అతని పాదములు పట్టుకొని ఇట్లనెను

23. And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground.

24. నా యేలినవాడా, యీ దోషము నాదని యెంచుము; నీ దాసురాలనైన నన్ను మాటలాడ నిమ్ము, నీ దాసురాలనైన నేను చెప్పుమాటలను ఆలకించుము;

24. And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, {upon} me {let this} iniquity {be}: and let thy handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thy audience, and hear the words of thy handmaid.

25. నా యేలిన వాడా, దుష్టుడైన యీ నాబాలును లక్ష్యపెట్టవద్దు, అతని పేరు అతని గుణములను సూచించుచున్నది, అతని పేరు నాబాలు, మోటుతనము అతని గుణము; నా యేలినవాడు పంపించిన పనివారు నాకు కనబడలేదు.

25. Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, {even} Nabal; for as his name {is}, so {is} he; Nabal {is} his name, and folly {is} with him: but I thy handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.

26. నా యేలినవాడా, యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు ప్రాణహాని చేయకుండ యెహోవా నిన్ను ఆపియున్నాడు. నీ చెయ్యి నిన్ను సంరక్షించెనన్నమాట నిజమని యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు అని ప్రమాణము చేయు చున్నాను. నీ శత్రువులును నా యేలినవాడవైన నీకు కీడు చేయనుద్దేశించు వారును నాబాలువలె ఉందురు గాక.

26. Now therefore, my lord, {as} the LORD liveth, and {as} thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withheld thee from coming to {shed} blood, and from avenging thyself with thy own hand, now let thy enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.

27. అయితే నేను నా యేలినవాడవగు నీయొద్దకు తెచ్చిన యీ కానుకను నా యేలినవాడవగు నిన్ను వెంబడించు పనివారికి ఇప్పించి

27. And now this blessing which thy handmaid hath brought to my lord, let it even be given to the young men that follow my lord.

28. నీ దాసురాలనైన నా తప్పు క్షమించుము. నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు యెహోవా యుద్ధములను చేయుచున్నావు గనుక నా యేలిన వాడ వగు నీకు ఆయన శాశ్వతమైన సంతతి నిచ్చును. నీవు బ్రదుకు దినములన్నిటను నీకు అపాయము కలుగ కుండును.

28. I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thy handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee {all} thy days.

29. నిన్ను హింసించుటకైనను నీ ప్రాణము తీయుటకైనను ఎవడైన ఉద్దేశించినయెడల, నా యేలిన వాడవగు నీ ప్రాణము నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాయొద్ద నున్న జీవపుమూటలో కట్టబడును; ఒకడు వడిసెలతో రాయి విసరినట్లు ఆయన నీ శత్రువుల ప్రాణములను విసరివేయును.

29. Yet a man hath risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thy enemies, them shall he sling out, {as from} the middle of a sling.

30. యెహోవా నా యేలినవాడవగు నిన్ను గూర్చి సెలవిచ్చిన మేలంతటిని నీకు చేసి నిన్ను ఇశ్రా యేలీయులమీద అధిపతినిగా నిర్ణయించిన తరువాత

30. And it will come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;

31. నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు రక్తమును నిష్కారణముగాచిందించినందుకేగాని, నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు పగతీర్చు కొని నందుకేగాని, మనోవిచారమైనను దుఃఖమైనను నా యేలినవాడవగు నీకు ఎంత మాత్రమును కలుగక పోవును గాక, యెహోవా నా యేలినవాడవగు నీకు మేలు చేసిన తరువాత నీవు నీ దాసురాలనగు నన్ను జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము అనెను.

31. That this will be no grief to thee, nor offense of heart to my lord, either that thou hast shed blood without cause, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thy handmaid.

32. అందుకు దావీదునాకు ఎదురు పడుటకై నిన్ను పంపిన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు స్తోత్రము కలుగును గాక.

32. And David said to Abigail, Blessed {be} the LORD God of Israel, who sent thee this day to meet me:

33. నేను పగ తీర్చుకొనకుండను ఈ దినమున ప్రాణము తీయకుండను నన్ను ఆపినందుకై నీవు ఆశీర్వాదము నొందుదువు గాక. నీవు చూపిన బుద్ధి విషయమై నీకు ఆశీర్వాదము కలుగును గాక.

33. And blessed {be} thy advice, and blessed {be} thou, who hast kept me this day from coming to {shed} blood, and from avenging myself with my own hand.

34. నీవు త్వరపడి నన్ను ఎదుర్కొనక పోయిన యెడల, నీకు హానిచేయకుండ నన్ను ఆటంకపరచిన ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు తెల్లవారు లోగా నాబాలునకు మగవాడొకడును విడువబడడన్న మాట నిశ్చయము అని చెప్పి

34. For in very deed, {as} the LORD God of Israel liveth, who hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left to Nabal by the morning light any male person.

35. తనయొద్దకు ఆమె తెచ్చిన వాటిని ఆమెచేత తీసికొనినీ మాటలు నేను ఆలకించి నీ మనవి నంగీకరించితిని, సమాధానముగా నీ యింటికి పొమ్మని ఆమెతో చెప్పెను.

35. So David received from her hand {that} which she had brought him, and said to her, Return in peace to thy house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.

36. అబీగయీలు తిరిగి నాబాలునొద్దకు రాగా, రాజులు విందుచేసినట్లు అతడు ఇంటిలో విందుచేసి, త్రాగుచు బహు సంతోషించుచు మత్తుగానుండెను గనుక తెల్లవారువరకు ఆమె అతనితో కొద్ది గొప్ప మరేమియు చెప్పక ఊరకుండెను.

36. And Abigail came to Nabal; and behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart {was} merry within him, for he {was} very drunken: Therefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.

37. ఉదయ మున నాబాలునకు మత్తు తగ్గియున్నప్పుడు అతని భార్య అతనితో ఆ సంగతులను తెలియజెప్పగా భయముచేత అతని గుండెపగిలెను, అతడు రాతివలె బిగిసికొనిపోయెను.

37. But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine had left Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became {as} a stone.

38. పది దినములైన తరువాత యెహోవా నాబాలును మొత్తగా అతడు చనిపోయెను.

38. And it came to pass about ten days {after}, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.

39. నాబాలు చనిపోయెనని దావీదు వినియెహోవా నాబాలు చేసిన కీడును అతని తలమీదికి రప్పించెను గనుక తన దాసుడనైన నేను కీడు చేయకుండ నన్ను కాపాడి, నాబాలువలన నేను పొందిన అవమానమును తీర్చిన యెహోవాకు స్తోత్రము కలుగును గాక అనెను. తరువాత దావీదు అబీగయీలును పెండ్లి చేసికొనవలెనని ఆమెతో మాటలాడ తగినవారిని పంపెను.

39. And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed {be} the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to himself for a wife.

40. దావీదు సేవకులు కర్మెలులోనున్న అబీగయీలు నొద్దకు వచ్చిదావీదు మమ్మును పిలిచి నిన్ను పెండ్లిచేసికొనుటకై తోడుకొనిరండని పంపెననగా

40. And when the servants of David had come to Abigail to Carmel, they spoke to her, saying, David hath sent us to thee, to take thee to him for a wife.

41. ఆమె లేచి సాగిలపడినా యేలినవాని చిత్తము; నా యేలినవాని సేవకుల కాళ్లు కడుగుటకు నా యేలినవాని దాసురాలనగు నేను సిద్ధముగా నున్నానని చెప్పి

41. And she arose, and bowed herself on {her} face to the earth, and said, Behold, {let} thy handmaid {be} a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

42. త్వరగా లేచి గార్దభముమీద ఎక్కితన వెనుక నడచుచున్న అయిదుగురు పనికత్తెలతో కూడ దావీదు పంపిన దూతలవెంబడి రాగా దావీదు ఆమెను పెండ్లి చేసికొనెను.

42. And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.

43. మరియు దావీదు యెజ్రెయేలు స్త్రీ యైన అహీనోయమును పెండ్లి చేసికొనియుండెను; వారిద్దరు అతనికి భార్యలుగా ఉండిరి.

43. David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.

44. సౌలు తన కుమార్తె యైన మీకాలు అను దావీదు భార్యను పల్తీయేలను గల్లీమువాడైన లాయీషు కుమారునికి ఇచ్చి యుండెను.

44. But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, who {was} of Gallim.
