1. అంతట జీఫీయులు గిబియాలో సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చిదావీదు యెషీమోను ఎదుట హకీలామన్య ములో దాగి యున్నాడని తెలియజేయగా

1. The people from Zif went to Sha'ul in Giv'ah and said, 'David is hiding himself on Hakhilah Hill, across from Yeshimon.'

2. సౌలు లేచి ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులలో ఏర్పరచబడిన మూడువేల మందిని తీసికొని జీఫు అరణ్యములో దావీదును వెదకుటకు జీఫు అరణ్య మునకు పోయెను.

2. Then Sha'ul set out and went down to the Zif Desert with three thousand men chosen from Isra'el, to search for David in the Zif Desert.

3. సౌలు యెషీమోను ఎదుటనున్న హకీలామన్యమందు త్రోవ ప్రక్కను దిగగా, దావీదు అరణ్యములో నివసించుచుండి తన్ను పట్టుకొనవలెనని సౌలు అరణ్యమునకు వచ్చెనని విని

3. Sha'ul pitched camp on Hakhilah Hill, across from Yeshimon, near the road. David was staying in the desert, and he saw that Sha'ul was coming into the desert after him.

4. వేగులవారిని పంపి నిశ్చయముగా సౌలు వచ్చెనని తెలిసికొనెను.

4. So David dispatched spies and determined that Sha'ul had definitely come.

5. తరువాత దావీదు లేచి సౌలు దండు దిగిన స్థలము దగ్గరకు వచ్చి, సౌలును సౌలునకు సైన్యాధిపతియగు నేరు కుమారు డైన అబ్నేరును పరుండియుండగా వారున్నస్థలము కను గొనెను. సౌలు దండుక్రొత్తళములో పండుకొనగా దండువారు అతనిచుట్టు నుండిరి.

5. David set out and went to where Sha'ul had pitched his camp. He saw where Sha'ul and Avner the son of Ner, the commander of his army, were sleeping. Sha'ul was lying inside the barricade with the troops asleep all around him.

6. అప్పుడు దావీదుపాళెములోనికి సౌలు దగ్గరకు నాతోకూడ ఎవరు వత్తురని హిత్తీయుడైన అహీమెలెకును సెరూయా కుమారుడును యోవాబునకు సహోదరుడునగు అబీషైని నడుగగానీతోకూడ నేనే వత్తునని అబీషై యనెను.

6. David said to Achimelekh the Hitti and Avishai the son of Tz'ruyah, Yo'av's brother, 'Who will go down with me to Sha'ul in the camp?' Avishai said, 'I will go down with you.'

7. దావీదును అబీషైయును రాత్రివేళ ఆ జనుల దగ్గరకు పోగా సౌలు దండు క్రొత్తళములో పండుకొని నిద్ర బోవుచుండెను, అతని యీటె అతని తలగడ దగ్గర నేలను నాటియుండెను, అబ్నేరును జనులును అతని చుట్టు పండుకొనియుండిరి.

7. So David and Avishai went to the soldiers by night. Sha'ul was lying there asleep inside the barricade. His spear was stuck in the ground next to his head, with Avner and the troops asleep all around him.

8. అప్పుడు అబీషై దావీదుతోదేవుడు ఈ దినమున నీ శత్రువుని నీకప్పగించెను; కాబట్టి నీ చిత్తమైతే ఆ యీటెతో ఒక్కపోటు పొడిచి, నేనతనిని భూమికి నాటివేతును, ఒక దెబ్బతోనే పరిష్కారము చేతుననగా

8. Avishai said to David, 'God has handed your enemy over to you today; so now, please, let me pin him to the ground with just one stroke of the spear. I won't strike him a second time.'

9. దావీదునీవతని చంపకూడదు, యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందినవానిని చంపి నిర్దోషియగుట యెవనికి సాధ్యము?

9. But David said to Avishai, 'Don't destroy him! Nobody can raise his hand against ADONAI's anointed without becoming guilty!'

10. యహోవా జీవముతోడు యెహోవాయే అతని మొత్తును, అతడు అపాయమువలన చచ్చును, లేదా యుద్ధమునకు పోయి నశించును;

10. David then added, 'As ADONAI lives, ADONAI will strike him down, or the day will come for him to die, or he will go down to battle and be swept away.

11. యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందిన వానిని నేను చంపను; ఆలాగున నేను చేయకుండ యెహోవా నన్ను ఆపునుగాక. అయితే అతని తలగడ దగ్గరనున్న యీటెను నీళ్ల బుడ్డిని తీసికొని మనము వెళ్లిపోదము రమ్మని అబీషైతో చెప్పి

11. ADONAI forbid that I should raise my hand against ADONAI's anointed! But now, we'll take the spear by his head and the jug of water, and get out of here.'

12. సౌలు తలగడదగ్గర నున్న యీటెను నీళ్లబుడ్డిని తీసికొని వారిద్దరు వెళ్లిపోయిరి. యెహోవాచేత వారి కందరికి గాఢనిద్ర కలుగగా వారిలో ఎవడును నిద్ర మేలుకొనలేదు, ఎవడును వచ్చిన వారిని చూడలేదు, జరిగినదాని గుర్తు పట్టినవాడొకడును లేడు.

12. So David took the spear and the water jug from Sha'ul's head and got away. Nobody saw or knew about it, and no one awoke, because they were all asleep- a deep sleep from ADONAI had fallen over them.

13. తరువాత దావీదు అవతలకుపోయి దూరముగా నున్న కొండమీద నిలిచి, ఉభయుల మధ్యను చాలా యెడముండగా

13. David crossed to the other side and climbed to the top of the distant ridge, leaving a considerable space between them.

14. జనులును నేరు కుమారుడైన అబ్నేరును వినునట్లు అబ్నేరూ, నీవు మాటలాడవా? అని కేక వేయగా అబ్నేరు కేకలువేసిరాజును నిద్రలేపు నీవెవడవని అడిగెను.

14. Then David called out to the troops and to Avner the son of Ner. 'Avner! Aren't you going to answer?' Avner answered, 'Who are you, calling to the king?'

15. అందుకు దావీదునీవు మగవాడవు కావా? ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో నీ వంటివాడెవడు? నీకు యజమానుడగు రాజునకు నీ వెందుకు కాపు కాయక పోతివి? నీకు యజమానుడగు రాజును సంహరించుటకు జనులలో ఒకడు చేరువకు వచ్చెనే;

15. David said to Avner, 'Aren't you the brave one! Who is there in Isra'el to compare with you? So why haven't you kept watch over your lord the king? Someone came in to kill the king, your lord!

16. నీ ప్రవర్తన అను కూలము కాదు, నీవు శిక్షకు పాత్రుడవే; యెహోవా చేత అభిషేకము నొందిన నీ యేలినవానికి నీవు రక్షకముగా నుండలేదు; యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీవు మరణశిక్షకు పాత్రుడవు. రాజుయొక్క యీటె యెక్కడ నున్నదో చూడుము, అతని తలగడయొద్దనున్న నీళ్లబుడ్డి యెక్కడ నున్నదో చూడుము అని పలికెను.

16. It's not good, what you've done! As ADONAI lives, you deserve to die; because you didn't keep watch over your lord, ADONAI's anointed. And now, see where the king's spear is, and the jug of water that was next to his head!'

17. సౌలు దావీదు స్వరము ఎరిగిదావీదా నాయనా, యిది నీ స్వరమేగదా అని అనగా దావీదు ఇట్లనెనునా యేలినవాడా నా రాజా, నా స్వరమే.

17. Sha'ul recognized David's voice and said, 'Is that your voice, my son David?' David said, 'It is my voice, my lord king!'

18. నా యేలిన వాడు తన దాసుని ఈలాగు ఎందుకు తరుముచున్నాడు? నేనేమి చేసితిని? నావలన ఏ కీడు నీకు సంభవించును?

18. and continued, 'Why is my lord chasing his servant? What have I done? What evil am I planning?

19. రాజా నా యేలిన వాడా, నీ దాసుని మాటలు వినుము. నామీద పడవలెనని యెహోవా నిన్ను ప్రేరేపించినయెడల నైవేద్యము చేసి ఆయనను శాంతిపరచవచ్చును. అయితే నరులెవరైనను నిన్ను ప్రేరేపించిన యెడల వారు యెహోవా దృష్టికి శాపగ్రస్తులగుదురు. వారునీవు దేశమును విడిచి అన్య దేవతలను పూజించుమని నాతో చెప్పి, యెహోవా స్వాస్థ్యమునకు హత్తుకొనకుండ నన్ను వెలివేయు చున్నారు.

19. Please, now, may my lord the king hear what his servant is saying. If it is ADONAI who has stirred you up against me, let him receive an offering. But if it's human beings, then a curse on them before ADONAI!- because, as things stand today, they have driven me out, so that I can no longer share in ADONAI's inheritance- they've said, 'Go, serve other gods!'

20. నా దేశమునకు దూరముగాను, యెహోవా సన్నిధికి ఎడమగాను నేను మరణము నొందకపోవుదును గాక. ఒకడు పర్వతములమీద కౌజుపిట్టను తరిమినట్టు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజవైన నీవు మిన్నల్లిని వెదకుటకై బయలుదేరి వచ్చితివి.

20. Now don't let my blood fall on the ground away from the presence of ADONAI. The king of Isra'el has gone out in search of a single flea, as if he were hunting partridge in the mountains!'

21. అందుకు సౌలునేను పాపము చేసితిని, ఈ దినమున నాప్రాణము నీ దృష్టికి ప్రియముగా నుండినదానిబట్టి నేను నీకిక కీడుచేయను. దావీదా నాయనా, నాయొద్దకు తిరిగిరమ్ము; వెఱ్ఱి వాడనై నేను బహు తప్పు చేసితిననగా

21. Then Sha'ul said, 'I have sinned. Come back, my son David. I won't harm you any longer, because you regarded my life as precious today. Yes, I have behaved like a fool. I was altogether in the wrong.'

22. దావీదురాజా, యిదిగో నీ యీటె నాయొద్దనున్నది, పనివారిలో నొకడు వచ్చి దాని తీసికొనవచ్చును.

22. David answered, 'Here is the king's spear. Send one of the men over to bring it back.

23. యెహోవా ఈ దినము నిన్ను నాకు అప్పగించినను నేను యెహోవా చేత అభిషేకము నొందినవానిని చంపనొల్లక పోయినందున ఆయన నా నీతిని నా విశ్వాస్యతను చూచి నాకు ప్రతిఫలము దయ చేయును.

23. ADONAI will give every person a reward suited to his uprightness and faithfulness. ADONAI put you in my power today, but I would not raise my hand against ADONAI's anointed.

24. చిత్తగించుము, ఈ దినమున నీ ప్రాణము నా దృష్టికి ఘనమైనందున యెహోవా నా ప్రాణమును తన దృష్టికి ఘనముగా ఎంచి బాధలన్నిటిలోనుండి నన్ను రక్షించునుగాక అని చెప్పెను.

24. Look: just as I put great value on your life today, so may my life be given great value by [ADONAI.] May he deliver me from every kind of trouble!'

25. అందుకు సౌలుదావీదా నాయనా, నీవు ఆశీర్వాదము పొందుదువు గాక; నీవు ఘనకార్యములను పూనుకొని విజయము నొందుదువుగాక అని దావీదుతో అనెను. అప్పుడు దావీదు తన మార్గమున వెళ్లిపోయెను, సౌలును తన స్థలమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

25. Sha'ul answered David, 'Blessings on you, my son David! No question that you will accomplish everything you set out to do!' So David went on his way, and Sha'ul returned to his place.
