1. అఫియకు పుట్టిన బెకోరతు కుమారుడైన సెరోరుకు జననమైన అబీయేలు కుమారుడగు కీషు అను బెన్యామీ నీయుడొకడుండెను. కీషు భాగ్యవంతుడగు ఒక బెన్యా మీనీయుడు.

1. Now there was a man of Benjamin named Cis the son of Abiel, the son of Zeroz. the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a man that was a Jeminite, a man of might:

2. అతనికి సౌలు అను నొక కుమారుడుండెను. అతడు బహు సౌందర్యముగల ¸యౌవనుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో అతనిపాటి సుందరు డొకడునులేడు. అతడు భుజములు మొదలుకొని పైకి ఇతరులకంటె ఎత్తు గలవాడు.

2. the same had a son called Saul, a goodly young man, so that among the children of Israel, there was none goodlier than he, and was thereto from the shoulders upward higher than all the other people.

3. సౌలు తండ్రియైన కీషుయొక్క గార్దభములు తప్పిపోగా కీషు తన కుమారుడైన సౌలును పిలిచిమన దాసులలో ఒకని తీసికొనిపోయి గార్దభములను వెదకుమని చెప్పెను.

3. And it chanced that the Asses of this Cis Saul's father were lost. Then said Cis to Saul his son: Take one of the lads with thee and up and go seek the Asses.

4. అతడు పోయి ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యము తిరిగి షాలిషాదేశమున సంచరింపగా అవి కన బడలేదు. తరువాత వారు షయలీము దేశమును దాటి సంచారము చేసిరి గాని అవి కనబడకయుండెను. బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశము సంచరించి చూడగా అవి దొరకలేదు.

4. And they went thorow mount Ephraim and thorow the land of Salisa, and found them not. Then they went thorow the land of Salim, and there they were not. Then they went also thorow the land of Jemini, and they found them not.

5. అయితే వారు సూపు దేశమునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడుమనము తిరిగి వెళ్లుదము రమ్ము, గార్దభముల కొరకు చింతింపక, నా తండ్రి మనకొరకు విచారపడు నేమోయని సౌలు తనయొద్దనున్న పనివానితో అనగా

5. Then when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to the young man that was with him: come let us return, lest my father leave caring for the Asses, and take thought for us. And he answered him:

6. వాడుఇదిగో ఈ పట్టణములో దైవజనుడు ఒకడున్నాడు, అతడు బహు ఘనుడు, అతడు ఏ మాట చెప్పునో ఆ మాట నెరవేరును. మనము వెళ్లవలసిన మార్గమును అతడు మనకు తెలియజేయునేమో అతని యొద్దకు వెళ్లుదము రండని చెప్పెను.

6. behold there is in this city a worshipful man of God, and all that he sayeth, cometh to pass. Now then let us go thither: peradventure he shall shew us what way we may go.

7. అందుకు సౌలుమనము వెళ్లునెడల ఆ మనిషికి ఏమి తీసికొని పోవు దుము? మన సామగ్రిలోనుండు భోజనపదార్థములు సరి పోయినవి; ఆ దైవజనునికి బహుమానము తీసి కొనిపోవుటకు మన కేమియు లేదు అని తన పనివానితో చెప్పిమనయొద్ద ఏమి యున్నదని అడుగగా

7. Then said Saul to his lad: if we go what shall we bring the man? For our bread is all spent out of our hampers and there is none other present to bring the man of God, what have we?

8. వాడు సౌలుతోచిత్తగించుము, నా యొద్ద పావు తులము వెండి కలదు. మనకు మార్గము తెలియజెప్పినందుకై దానిని ఆ దైవజనుని కిత్తుననెను.

8. And the young man answered Saul again and said: I have found about me the fourth part of a Sicle, that will we give the man of God to tell us our way.

9. ఇప్పుడు ప్రవక్తయను పేరు నొందువాడు పూర్వము దీర్ఘదర్శియనిపించుకొనెను. పూర్వము ఇశ్రా యేలీయులలో దేవునియొద్ద విచారణ చేయుటకై ఒకడు బయలుదేరినయెడలమనము దీర్ఘదర్శకుని యొద్దకు పోవు దము రండని జనులు చెప్పుకొనుట వాడుక.

9. Before time in Israel when a man went to seek an answer of God, thus wise he spake, come and let us go to the Sear. For he that is now called a prophet, was in the old time called a Sear.

10. సౌలునీ మాట మంచిది, వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా

10. Then said Saul to his young man: well said of thee: come let us go. And so they went unto the city where the man of God was.

11. వారు దైవజనుడుండు ఊరికి పోయిరి. ఊరికి ఎక్కిపోవుచుండగా నీళ్లుచేదుకొను టకై వచ్చిన కన్యకలు తమకు కనబడినప్పుడుఇక్కడ దీర్ఘ దర్శియున్నాడా అని అడిగిరి.

11. And as they were going up into the city, they met with damsels that came out to draw water, and said unto them: is there here a sear?

12. అందుకు వారుఇదిగో అతడు మీ యెదుటనే యున్నాడు, త్వరగా పోయి కలిసికొనుడి; యీ దినముననే అతడు ఈ ఊరికి వచ్చెను. నేడు ఉన్నతస్థలమందు జనులకు బలి జరుగును గనుక

12. And the maidens answered them, yea: behold, he goeth before you. Make haste now, for he came this day to the city, for the people must offer this day in the hill.

13. ఊరిలోనికి మీరు పోయిన క్షణమందే, అతడు భోజనము చేయుటకు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు వెళ్లక మునుపే మీరు అతని కనుగొందురు; అతడు రాక మునుపు జనులు భోజనము చేయరు; అతడు బలిని ఆశీర్వదించిన తరువాత పిలువ బడినవారు భోజనము చేయుదురు, మీరు ఎక్కిపొండి; అతని చూచుటకు ఇదే సమయమని చెప్పిరి.

13. When ye be come into the city, so shall you find him, yer he go up to the hill to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he must bless the offering. And then eat they that be bidden to the feast. Now therefore get you up for even now shall ye find him.

14. వారు ఊరిలోనికి రాగా ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు పోవుచున్న సమూయేలు వారికి ఎదురుపడెను.

14. And they went up into the city. And when they were come into the midst of the city: behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the hill.

15. సౌలు అచ్చటికి రేపు వచ్చునని యెహోవా సమూ యేలునకు తెలియజేసెను.

15. But the LORD had told Samuel a day before Saul came, saying:

16. ఎట్లనగానా జనుల మొఱ్ఱ నాయొద్దకు వచ్చెను, నేను వారిని దృష్టించి యున్నాను; కాగా ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి నా జనులను విడిపించుటకై నా జనులైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీద వానిని అధికారినిగా అభిషేకించుటకుగాను రేపు ఈ వేళకు నేను బెన్యామీను దేశములోనుండి ఒక మనుష్యుని నీయొద్దకు రప్పించుదును.

16. tomorrow this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, him shalt thou anoint to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines, for I have looked upon my people and their cry is come unto me.

17. సౌలు సమూయేలునకు కనబడగానే యెహోవాఇతడే నేను నీతో చెప్పిన మనిషి ఇదిగో ఇతడే నా జనులను ఏలునని అతనితో సెలవిచ్చెను.

17. When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD answered him: see, this is the man whom I spake to thee of. This same shall reign over my people.

18. సౌలు గవినియందు సమూయేలును కలిసికొనిదీర్ఘదర్శి యిల్లు ఏది? దయచేసి నాతో చెప్పుమని అడుగగా

18. Then went Saul to Samuel in the middle of the gate, and said: tell me I pray thee, where about the sear's house is,

19. సమూయేలు సౌలుతోనేనే దీర్ఘదర్శిని, ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు నాకుముందు వెళ్లుడి, నేడు మీరు నాతో కూడ భోజనము చేయవలెను, రేపు నీ మనస్సులో నున్న దంతయు నీకు తెలియజేసి నిన్ను వెళ్లనిచ్చెదను.

19. and Samuel answered Saul and said: I am the sear, go up before me unto the hill, for ye shall eat with me to day. And tomorrow I will let thee go early, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart,

20. మూడు దినముల క్రిందట తప్పిపోయిన నీ గార్దభములనుగూర్చి విచారపడకుము, అవి దొరికినవి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అభీష్టము ఎవరియందున్నది? నీ యందును నీ తండ్రి యింటి వారియందును గదా అనెను.

20. and as for thine asses that were lost this day three days, care not for them, for they are found. And moreover whose shall the beautiful things of Israel be? belong they not unto thee, and unto all thy father's house?

21. అందుకు సౌలు నేను బెన్యామీనీయుడను కానా? నా గోత్రము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములలో స్వల్పమైనదికాదా? నా యింటి వారు బెన్యామీను గోత్రపు ఇంటివారందరిలో అల్పులు కారా? నాతో ఈలాగున ఎందుకు పలుకుచున్నావు? అనెను.

21. But Saul answered and said: am not I the son of a Jeminite of the smallest tribe of Israel, and my kindred the least of all the kindreds of the tribe of Benjamin, wherefore then speakest thou so to me?

22. అయితే సమూయేలు సౌలును అతని పనివానిని భోజనపు సాలలోనికి తోడుకొనిపోయి, పిలువబడిన దాదాపు ముప్పది మందిలో ప్రధానస్థలమందు వారిని కూర్చుండబెట్టి

22. And Samuel took Saul and his lad and brought them into the parlour and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden: which were upon a thirty persons.

23. పచనకర్తతోనేను నీ దగ్గరనుంచుమని చెప్పి నీ చేతికి ఇచ్చిన భాగమును తీసికొని రమ్మనగా

23. Then said Samuel unto the cook: bring forth the portion which I gave thee, and of which I said keep it with thee.

24. పచనకర్త జబ్బను దాని మీదనున్న దానిని తీసికొనివచ్చి సౌలు ఎదుట ఉంచగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో ఇట్లనెనుచూడుము, మనము కలిసికొను కాలమునకై దాచియుంచ బడిన దానిని నీకు పెట్టియున్నాడు, జనులను పిలిచితినని నేను పచనకర్తతో చెప్పినప్పుడు ఇది నీకొరకుంచవలసినదని చెప్పితిని. ఆ దినమున సౌలు సమూయేలుతో కూడభోజనముచేసెను,

24. And the cook took up the shoulder and brought it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said: behold, that which is left: put it before thee and eat, for I kept it for thee of purpose, when I called the people. And so Saul did eat with Samuel that day.

25. పట్టణస్థులు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలముమీదనుండి దిగుచుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో మిద్దెమీద మాటలాడు చుండెను.

25. And when they were come down from the hill unto the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house:

26. మరునాడు తెల్లవారునప్పుడు సమూయేలుమిద్దెమీదనున్న సౌలును పిలిచి నేను నిన్ను సాగనంపుటకై లెమ్ము అని చెప్పగా సౌలు లేచెను. తరువాత వారిద్దరు బయలుదేరి

26. and they arose early. And about the spring of the day Samuel called Saul upon the top of the house saying: up that I may send thee away. And Saul arose. And they went out at the doors both of them, both he and Samuel.

27. ఊరి చివరకు వచ్చు చుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతోమనకంటె ముందుగా వెళ్లుమని యీ పనివానితో చెప్పుము; దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చినది నేను నీకు తెలియజెప్పువరకు నీవు ఇక్కడ నిలిచి యుండుమనెను; అంతట వాడు వెళ్లెను.

27. And when they were come almost out of the town, Samuel said to Saul: bid the lad go before us, and he went, but stand thou still awhile even now, that I may shew thee what God sayeth.
