1. అఫియకు పుట్టిన బెకోరతు కుమారుడైన సెరోరుకు జననమైన అబీయేలు కుమారుడగు కీషు అను బెన్యామీ నీయుడొకడుండెను. కీషు భాగ్యవంతుడగు ఒక బెన్యా మీనీయుడు.

1. And [there was] a man of the sons of Benjamin, and his name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Jared, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a Benjamite, a man of might.

2. అతనికి సౌలు అను నొక కుమారుడుండెను. అతడు బహు సౌందర్యముగల ¸యౌవనుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో అతనిపాటి సుందరు డొకడునులేడు. అతడు భుజములు మొదలుకొని పైకి ఇతరులకంటె ఎత్తు గలవాడు.

2. And this man had a son, and his name was Saul, of great stature, a handsome man. And there was not a more handsome man among the sons of Israel than he, high above all the people, from his shoulders and upward.

3. సౌలు తండ్రియైన కీషుయొక్క గార్దభములు తప్పిపోగా కీషు తన కుమారుడైన సౌలును పిలిచిమన దాసులలో ఒకని తీసికొనిపోయి గార్దభములను వెదకుమని చెప్పెను.

3. Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul's father, were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take with you one of the young men, and arise, go and look for the donkeys.

4. అతడు పోయి ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యము తిరిగి షాలిషాదేశమున సంచరింపగా అవి కన బడలేదు. తరువాత వారు షయలీము దేశమును దాటి సంచారము చేసిరి గాని అవి కనబడకయుండెను. బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశము సంచరించి చూడగా అవి దొరకలేదు.

4. And they went through Mount Ephraim, and they went through the land of Shalisha, and found them not. And they passed through the land of Shaalim, and they were not there. Then they passed through the land of the Benjamites, and found them not.

5. అయితే వారు సూపు దేశమునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడుమనము తిరిగి వెళ్లుదము రమ్ము, గార్దభముల కొరకు చింతింపక, నా తండ్రి మనకొరకు విచారపడు నేమోయని సౌలు తనయొద్దనున్న పనివానితో అనగా

5. And when they came to Zuph, Saul said to his young man that was with him, Come and let us return, lest my father leave the donkeys, and take care for us.

6. వాడుఇదిగో ఈ పట్టణములో దైవజనుడు ఒకడున్నాడు, అతడు బహు ఘనుడు, అతడు ఏ మాట చెప్పునో ఆ మాట నెరవేరును. మనము వెళ్లవలసిన మార్గమును అతడు మనకు తెలియజేయునేమో అతని యొద్దకు వెళ్లుదము రండని చెప్పెను.

6. And the young man said to him, Behold now, there is a man of God in this city, and the man is of high repute; all that he shall speak will surely come to pass. Now then let us go, that he may tell us our way on which we have set out.

7. అందుకు సౌలుమనము వెళ్లునెడల ఆ మనిషికి ఏమి తీసికొని పోవు దుము? మన సామగ్రిలోనుండు భోజనపదార్థములు సరి పోయినవి; ఆ దైవజనునికి బహుమానము తీసి కొనిపోవుటకు మన కేమియు లేదు అని తన పనివానితో చెప్పిమనయొద్ద ఏమి యున్నదని అడుగగా

7. And Saul said to his young man that was with him, But look, if we should go, what shall we bring the man of God? For the loaves are spent out of our vessels, and we have nothing more with us that belongs to us to bring to the man of God.

8. వాడు సౌలుతోచిత్తగించుము, నా యొద్ద పావు తులము వెండి కలదు. మనకు మార్గము తెలియజెప్పినందుకై దానిని ఆ దైవజనుని కిత్తుననెను.

8. And the young man answered Saul again and said, Behold, I have here in my hand a fourth part of a shekel of silver, and you shall give it to the man of God, and he shall tell us our way.

9. ఇప్పుడు ప్రవక్తయను పేరు నొందువాడు పూర్వము దీర్ఘదర్శియనిపించుకొనెను. పూర్వము ఇశ్రా యేలీయులలో దేవునియొద్ద విచారణ చేయుటకై ఒకడు బయలుదేరినయెడలమనము దీర్ఘదర్శకుని యొద్దకు పోవు దము రండని జనులు చెప్పుకొనుట వాడుక.

9. Now formerly in Israel, everyone who went to inquire of God said, Come and let us go to the seer; for the people formerly called the prophet, the seer.

10. సౌలునీ మాట మంచిది, వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా

10. And Saul said to his servant, Well said, come and let us go. So they went to the city where the man of God was.

11. వారు దైవజనుడుండు ఊరికి పోయిరి. ఊరికి ఎక్కిపోవుచుండగా నీళ్లుచేదుకొను టకై వచ్చిన కన్యకలు తమకు కనబడినప్పుడుఇక్కడ దీర్ఘ దర్శియున్నాడా అని అడిగిరి.

11. As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young women coming out to draw water, and they say to them, Is the seer here?

12. అందుకు వారుఇదిగో అతడు మీ యెదుటనే యున్నాడు, త్వరగా పోయి కలిసికొనుడి; యీ దినముననే అతడు ఈ ఊరికి వచ్చెను. నేడు ఉన్నతస్థలమందు జనులకు బలి జరుగును గనుక

12. And the virgins answered them, and said to them, He is [here]: behold, [he is] before you. Now he is coming to the city, because of the day, for today [there is] a sacrifice for the people on the high place.

13. ఊరిలోనికి మీరు పోయిన క్షణమందే, అతడు భోజనము చేయుటకు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు వెళ్లక మునుపే మీరు అతని కనుగొందురు; అతడు రాక మునుపు జనులు భోజనము చేయరు; అతడు బలిని ఆశీర్వదించిన తరువాత పిలువ బడినవారు భోజనము చేయుదురు, మీరు ఎక్కిపొండి; అతని చూచుటకు ఇదే సమయమని చెప్పిరి.

13. As soon as you shall enter into the city, so shall you find him in the city, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people will not eat until he comes in, for he blesses the sacrifice, and afterwards the guests eat. Now then go up, for you shall find him because of the holiday.

14. వారు ఊరిలోనికి రాగా ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు పోవుచున్న సమూయేలు వారికి ఎదురుపడెను.

14. And they went up to the city. And as they were entering into the midst of the city, behold, Samuel came out to meet them, to go up to the high place.

15. సౌలు అచ్చటికి రేపు వచ్చునని యెహోవా సమూ యేలునకు తెలియజేసెను.

15. And the Lord uncovered the ear of Samuel one day before Saul came to him, saying,

16. ఎట్లనగానా జనుల మొఱ్ఱ నాయొద్దకు వచ్చెను, నేను వారిని దృష్టించి యున్నాను; కాగా ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి నా జనులను విడిపించుటకై నా జనులైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీద వానిని అధికారినిగా అభిషేకించుటకుగాను రేపు ఈ వేళకు నేను బెన్యామీను దేశములోనుండి ఒక మనుష్యుని నీయొద్దకు రప్పించుదును.

16. At this time tomorrow I will send to you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be ruler over My people Israel, and he shall save My people out of the hand of the Philistines, for I have looked upon the humiliation of My people, for their cry has come unto Me.

17. సౌలు సమూయేలునకు కనబడగానే యెహోవాఇతడే నేను నీతో చెప్పిన మనిషి ఇదిగో ఇతడే నా జనులను ఏలునని అతనితో సెలవిచ్చెను.

17. And Samuel looked upon Saul, and the Lord answered him, Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you; this one shall rule over My people.

18. సౌలు గవినియందు సమూయేలును కలిసికొనిదీర్ఘదర్శి యిల్లు ఏది? దయచేసి నాతో చెప్పుమని అడుగగా

18. And Saul drew near to Samuel into the midst of the city, and said, Tell me, now which is the house of the seer?

19. సమూయేలు సౌలుతోనేనే దీర్ఘదర్శిని, ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు నాకుముందు వెళ్లుడి, నేడు మీరు నాతో కూడ భోజనము చేయవలెను, రేపు నీ మనస్సులో నున్న దంతయు నీకు తెలియజేసి నిన్ను వెళ్లనిచ్చెదను.

19. And Samuel answered Saul and said, I am he: go up before me to the high place, and eat with me today, and I will send you away in the morning, and I will tell you all that is in your heart.

20. మూడు దినముల క్రిందట తప్పిపోయిన నీ గార్దభములనుగూర్చి విచారపడకుము, అవి దొరికినవి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అభీష్టము ఎవరియందున్నది? నీ యందును నీ తండ్రి యింటి వారియందును గదా అనెను.

20. And concerning your donkeys that have been lost now these three days, do not worry about them, for they have been found. And to whom does the excellency of Israel belong? Does it not [belong] to you, and to your father's house?

21. అందుకు సౌలు నేను బెన్యామీనీయుడను కానా? నా గోత్రము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములలో స్వల్పమైనదికాదా? నా యింటి వారు బెన్యామీను గోత్రపు ఇంటివారందరిలో అల్పులు కారా? నాతో ఈలాగున ఎందుకు పలుకుచున్నావు? అనెను.

21. And Saul answered and said, Am I not the son of a Benjamite, the least tribe of the people of Israel? And of the least family of the whole tribe of Benjamin? And why have you spoken to me according to this word?

22. అయితే సమూయేలు సౌలును అతని పనివానిని భోజనపు సాలలోనికి తోడుకొనిపోయి, పిలువబడిన దాదాపు ముప్పది మందిలో ప్రధానస్థలమందు వారిని కూర్చుండబెట్టి

22. And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them to the inn, and set them there a place among the chief of those that were called, about seventy men.

23. పచనకర్తతోనేను నీ దగ్గరనుంచుమని చెప్పి నీ చేతికి ఇచ్చిన భాగమును తీసికొని రమ్మనగా

23. And Samuel said to the cook, Give me the portion which I gave you, which I told you to set aside.

24. పచనకర్త జబ్బను దాని మీదనున్న దానిని తీసికొనివచ్చి సౌలు ఎదుట ఉంచగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో ఇట్లనెనుచూడుము, మనము కలిసికొను కాలమునకై దాచియుంచ బడిన దానిని నీకు పెట్టియున్నాడు, జనులను పిలిచితినని నేను పచనకర్తతో చెప్పినప్పుడు ఇది నీకొరకుంచవలసినదని చెప్పితిని. ఆ దినమున సౌలు సమూయేలుతో కూడభోజనముచేసెను,

24. Now the cook had boiled the shoulder, and he set it before Saul. And Samuel said to Saul, Behold that which is left, set before you, and eat; for it is set there for a testimony in preference to the others; take of it. So Saul ate with Samuel on that day.

25. పట్టణస్థులు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలముమీదనుండి దిగుచుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో మిద్దెమీద మాటలాడు చుండెను.

25. And he went down from the high place into the city, and they prepared a lodging for Saul on the roof, and he lay down.

26. మరునాడు తెల్లవారునప్పుడు సమూయేలుమిద్దెమీదనున్న సౌలును పిలిచి నేను నిన్ను సాగనంపుటకై లెమ్ము అని చెప్పగా సౌలు లేచెను. తరువాత వారిద్దరు బయలుదేరి

26. An it came to pass when the morning dawned, that Samuel called Saul on the roof, saying, Rise up, and I will dismiss you. And Saul arose, and he and Samuel went out.

27. ఊరి చివరకు వచ్చు చుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతోమనకంటె ముందుగా వెళ్లుమని యీ పనివానితో చెప్పుము; దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చినది నేను నీకు తెలియజెప్పువరకు నీవు ఇక్కడ నిలిచి యుండుమనెను; అంతట వాడు వెళ్లెను.

27. As they went down to a part of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Speak to the young man, and let him pass on before us. But you stand here now, and listen to the word of God.
