1. అఫియకు పుట్టిన బెకోరతు కుమారుడైన సెరోరుకు జననమైన అబీయేలు కుమారుడగు కీషు అను బెన్యామీ నీయుడొకడుండెను. కీషు భాగ్యవంతుడగు ఒక బెన్యా మీనీయుడు.

1. Now there was a man of Benjamin named Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a man of wealth.

2. అతనికి సౌలు అను నొక కుమారుడుండెను. అతడు బహు సౌందర్యముగల ¸యౌవనుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో అతనిపాటి సుందరు డొకడునులేడు. అతడు భుజములు మొదలుకొని పైకి ఇతరులకంటె ఎత్తు గలవాడు.

2. He had a son named Saul, a specially good-looking young man; there was no one better-looking among the children of Israel: he was taller by a head than any other of the people.

3. సౌలు తండ్రియైన కీషుయొక్క గార్దభములు తప్పిపోగా కీషు తన కుమారుడైన సౌలును పిలిచిమన దాసులలో ఒకని తీసికొనిపోయి గార్దభములను వెదకుమని చెప్పెను.

3. Now the asses of Saul's father Kish had gone wandering away. And Kish said to his son Saul, Take one of the servants with you, and get up and go in search of the asses.

4. అతడు పోయి ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యము తిరిగి షాలిషాదేశమున సంచరింపగా అవి కన బడలేదు. తరువాత వారు షయలీము దేశమును దాటి సంచారము చేసిరి గాని అవి కనబడకయుండెను. బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశము సంచరించి చూడగా అవి దొరకలేదు.

4. So they went through the hill-country of Ephraim and through the land of Shalishah, but they saw no sign of them: then they went through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there: and they went through the land of the Benjamites, but they did not come across them.

5. అయితే వారు సూపు దేశమునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడుమనము తిరిగి వెళ్లుదము రమ్ము, గార్దభముల కొరకు చింతింపక, నా తండ్రి మనకొరకు విచారపడు నేమోయని సౌలు తనయొద్దనున్న పనివానితో అనగా

5. And when they had come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to the servant who was with him, Come, let us go back, or my father may give up caring about the asses and be troubled about us.

6. వాడుఇదిగో ఈ పట్టణములో దైవజనుడు ఒకడున్నాడు, అతడు బహు ఘనుడు, అతడు ఏ మాట చెప్పునో ఆ మాట నెరవేరును. మనము వెళ్లవలసిన మార్గమును అతడు మనకు తెలియజేయునేమో అతని యొద్దకు వెళ్లుదము రండని చెప్పెను.

6. But the servant said to him, See now, in this town there is a man of God, who is highly honoured, and everything he says comes true: let us go there now; it may be that he will give us directions about our journey.

7. అందుకు సౌలుమనము వెళ్లునెడల ఆ మనిషికి ఏమి తీసికొని పోవు దుము? మన సామగ్రిలోనుండు భోజనపదార్థములు సరి పోయినవి; ఆ దైవజనునికి బహుమానము తీసి కొనిపోవుటకు మన కేమియు లేదు అని తన పనివానితో చెప్పిమనయొద్ద ఏమి యున్నదని అడుగగా

7. Then Saul said to his servant, But if we go, what are we to take the man? all our bread is gone, and we have no offering to take to the man of God: what are we to do?

8. వాడు సౌలుతోచిత్తగించుము, నా యొద్ద పావు తులము వెండి కలదు. మనకు మార్గము తెలియజెప్పినందుకై దానిని ఆ దైవజనుని కిత్తుననెను.

8. But the servant said in answer, I have here a fourth part of a shekel of silver: I will give that to the man of God, and he will give us directions about our way.

9. ఇప్పుడు ప్రవక్తయను పేరు నొందువాడు పూర్వము దీర్ఘదర్శియనిపించుకొనెను. పూర్వము ఇశ్రా యేలీయులలో దేవునియొద్ద విచారణ చేయుటకై ఒకడు బయలుదేరినయెడలమనము దీర్ఘదర్శకుని యొద్దకు పోవు దము రండని జనులు చెప్పుకొనుట వాడుక.

9. (In the past in Israel, when a man went to get directions from God, he said, Come let us go to the Seer, for he who now is named Prophet was in those days given the name of Seer.)

10. సౌలునీ మాట మంచిది, వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా

10. Then Saul said to his servant, You have said well; come, let us go. So they went to the town where the man of God was.

11. వారు దైవజనుడుండు ఊరికి పోయిరి. ఊరికి ఎక్కిపోవుచుండగా నీళ్లుచేదుకొను టకై వచ్చిన కన్యకలు తమకు కనబడినప్పుడుఇక్కడ దీర్ఘ దర్శియున్నాడా అని అడిగిరి.

11. And when they were on the way up to the town, they saw some young girls going out to get water and said to them, Is the seer here?

12. అందుకు వారుఇదిగో అతడు మీ యెదుటనే యున్నాడు, త్వరగా పోయి కలిసికొనుడి; యీ దినముననే అతడు ఈ ఊరికి వచ్చెను. నేడు ఉన్నతస్థలమందు జనులకు బలి జరుగును గనుక

12. And they said, He is; in fact he is before you: go quickly now, for he has come into the town today, for the people are making an offering in the high place today:

13. ఊరిలోనికి మీరు పోయిన క్షణమందే, అతడు భోజనము చేయుటకు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు వెళ్లక మునుపే మీరు అతని కనుగొందురు; అతడు రాక మునుపు జనులు భోజనము చేయరు; అతడు బలిని ఆశీర్వదించిన తరువాత పిలువ బడినవారు భోజనము చేయుదురు, మీరు ఎక్కిపొండి; అతని చూచుటకు ఇదే సమయమని చెప్పిరి.

13. When you come into the town you will see him straight away, before he goes up to the high place for the feast: the people are waiting for his blessing before starting the feast, and after that the guests will take part in it. So go up now and you will see him.

14. వారు ఊరిలోనికి రాగా ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు పోవుచున్న సమూయేలు వారికి ఎదురుపడెను.

14. So they went up to the town, and when they came inside the town, Samuel came face to face with them on his way to the high place.

15. సౌలు అచ్చటికి రేపు వచ్చునని యెహోవా సమూ యేలునకు తెలియజేసెను.

15. Now the day before Saul came, the word of God had come to Samuel, saying,

16. ఎట్లనగానా జనుల మొఱ్ఱ నాయొద్దకు వచ్చెను, నేను వారిని దృష్టించి యున్నాను; కాగా ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి నా జనులను విడిపించుటకై నా జనులైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీద వానిని అధికారినిగా అభిషేకించుటకుగాను రేపు ఈ వేళకు నేను బెన్యామీను దేశములోనుండి ఒక మనుష్యుని నీయొద్దకు రప్పించుదును.

16. Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and on him you are to put the holy oil, making him ruler over my people Israel, and he will make my people safe from the hands of the Philistines: for I have seen the sorrow of my people, whose cry has come up to me.

17. సౌలు సమూయేలునకు కనబడగానే యెహోవాఇతడే నేను నీతో చెప్పిన మనిషి ఇదిగో ఇతడే నా జనులను ఏలునని అతనితో సెలవిచ్చెను.

17. And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, This is the man of whom I gave you word! he it is who is to have authority over my people.

18. సౌలు గవినియందు సమూయేలును కలిసికొనిదీర్ఘదర్శి యిల్లు ఏది? దయచేసి నాతో చెప్పుమని అడుగగా

18. Then Saul came up to Samuel in the doorway of the town and said, Give me directions, if you will be so good, to the house of the seer.

19. సమూయేలు సౌలుతోనేనే దీర్ఘదర్శిని, ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునకు నాకుముందు వెళ్లుడి, నేడు మీరు నాతో కూడ భోజనము చేయవలెను, రేపు నీ మనస్సులో నున్న దంతయు నీకు తెలియజేసి నిన్ను వెళ్లనిచ్చెదను.

19. Then Samuel said to Saul, I am the seer; go up before me to the high place and take food with me today: and in the morning I will let you go, after opening to you all the secrets of your heart.

20. మూడు దినముల క్రిందట తప్పిపోయిన నీ గార్దభములనుగూర్చి విచారపడకుము, అవి దొరికినవి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అభీష్టము ఎవరియందున్నది? నీ యందును నీ తండ్రి యింటి వారియందును గదా అనెను.

20. As for your asses which have been wandering for three days, give no thought to them, for they have come back. And for whom are all the desired things in Israel? are they not for you and your father's family?

21. అందుకు సౌలు నేను బెన్యామీనీయుడను కానా? నా గోత్రము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములలో స్వల్పమైనదికాదా? నా యింటి వారు బెన్యామీను గోత్రపు ఇంటివారందరిలో అల్పులు కారా? నాతో ఈలాగున ఎందుకు పలుకుచున్నావు? అనెను.

21. And Saul said, Am I not a man of Benjamin, the smallest of all the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of the families of Benjamin? why then do you say these words to me?

22. అయితే సమూయేలు సౌలును అతని పనివానిని భోజనపు సాలలోనికి తోడుకొనిపోయి, పిలువబడిన దాదాపు ముప్పది మందిలో ప్రధానస్థలమందు వారిని కూర్చుండబెట్టి

22. Then Samuel took Saul and his servant into the guest room, and made them take the chief place among all the guests who were there, about thirty persons.

23. పచనకర్తతోనేను నీ దగ్గరనుంచుమని చెప్పి నీ చేతికి ఇచ్చిన భాగమును తీసికొని రమ్మనగా

23. And Samuel said to the cook, Give me that part which I gave you orders to keep by you.

24. పచనకర్త జబ్బను దాని మీదనున్న దానిని తీసికొనివచ్చి సౌలు ఎదుట ఉంచగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో ఇట్లనెనుచూడుము, మనము కలిసికొను కాలమునకై దాచియుంచ బడిన దానిని నీకు పెట్టియున్నాడు, జనులను పిలిచితినని నేను పచనకర్తతో చెప్పినప్పుడు ఇది నీకొరకుంచవలసినదని చెప్పితిని. ఆ దినమున సౌలు సమూయేలుతో కూడభోజనముచేసెను,

24. And the cook took up the leg with the fat tail on it, and put it before Saul. And Samuel said, This is the part which has been kept for you: take it as your part of the feast; because it has been kept for you till the right time came and till the guests were present. So that day Saul took food with Samuel.

25. పట్టణస్థులు ఉన్నతమైన స్థలముమీదనుండి దిగుచుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతో మిద్దెమీద మాటలాడు చుండెను.

25. And when they had come down from the high place into the town, where a bed was made ready for Saul, he went to rest.

26. మరునాడు తెల్లవారునప్పుడు సమూయేలుమిద్దెమీదనున్న సౌలును పిలిచి నేను నిన్ను సాగనంపుటకై లెమ్ము అని చెప్పగా సౌలు లేచెను. తరువాత వారిద్దరు బయలుదేరి

26. And about dawn Samuel said to Saul on the roof, Get up so that I may send you away. So Saul got up, and he and Samuel went out together.

27. ఊరి చివరకు వచ్చు చుండగా సమూయేలు సౌలుతోమనకంటె ముందుగా వెళ్లుమని యీ పనివానితో చెప్పుము; దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చినది నేను నీకు తెలియజెప్పువరకు నీవు ఇక్కడ నిలిచి యుండుమనెను; అంతట వాడు వెళ్లెను.

27. And on their way down to the end of the town, Samuel said to Saul, Give your servant orders to go on in front of us, (so he went on,) but you keep here, so that I may give you the word of God.
