1. యూదారాజగు యెహోయాకీము ఏలుబడిలో మూడవ సంవత్సరమున బబులోనురాజగు నెబుకద్నెజరు యెరూషలేముమీదికి వచ్చి దాని ముట్టడివేయగా

1. In the thirde yeere of the reigne of Iehoiakim king of Iudah, came Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel vnto Ierusalem and besieged it.

2. ప్రభువు యూదారాజగు యెహోయాకీమును దేవుని మందిరములోని శేషించిన ఉపకరణములను, ఆ రాజుచేతి కప్పగించెను గనుక అతడు ఆ వస్తువులను షీనారు దేశము లోని తన దేవతాలయమునకు తీసికొనిపోయి తన దేవతాలయపు బొక్కసములో ఉంచెను.

2. And ye Lord gaue Iehoiakim king of Iudah into his hand; with parte of the vessels of the house of God, which he caryed into the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, and he brought the vessels into his gods treasurie.

3. రాజు అష్పెనజు అను తన నపుంసకుల యధిపతిని పిలిపించి అతనికీలాగు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల రాజవంశములలో ముఖ్యులై, లోపములేని సౌందర్యమును సకల విద్యా ప్రవీణతయు జ్ఞానమును గలిగి,

3. And the King spake vnto Ashpenaz the master of his Eunuches, that he shoulde bring certeine of the children of Israel, of the Kings seede, and of the princes:

4. తత్వజ్ఞానము తెలిసినవారై రాజు నగరునందు నిలువదగిన కొందరు బాలురను రప్పించి, కల్దీయుల విద్యను భాషను వారికి నేర్పుము.

4. Children in whome was no blemish, but well fauoured, and instruct in all wisedome, and well seene in knowledge, and able to vtter knowledge, and such as were able to stande in the kings palace, and whome they might teach the learning, and the tongue of the Caldeans.

5. మరియు రాజు తాను భుజించు ఆహారములో నుండియు తాను పానముచేయు ద్రాక్షారసములో నుండియు అనుదిన భాగము వారికి నియమించి, మూడు సంవత్సరములు వారిని పోషించి పిమ్మట వారిని తన యెదుట నిలువబెట్టునట్లు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

5. And the King appointed them prouision euery day of a portion of the Kings meate, and and of the wine, which he dranke, so nourishing them three yeere, that at the ende thereof, they might stande before the King.

6. యూదులలోనుండి దానియేలు, హనన్యా, మిషాయేలు, అజర్యా అనువారు వీరిలోనుండిరి.

6. Nowe among these were certeine of the children of Iudah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.

7. నపుంసకుల యధిపతి దానియేలునకు బెల్తెషాజరు అనియు, హనన్యాకు షద్రకనియు, మిషాయేలునకు మేషాకనియు, అజర్యాకు అబేద్నెగో అనియు పేళ్లు పెట్టెను.

7. Vnto whome the chiefe of the Eunuches gaue other names: for hee called Daniel, Belteshazzar, and Hananiah, Shadrach, and Mishael, Meshach, and Azariah, Abednego.

8. రాజు భుజించు భోజనమును పానముచేయు ద్రాక్షారసమును పుచ్చుకొని తన్ను అపవిత్రపరచుకొనకూడదని దానియేలు ఉద్దేశించి, తాను అపవిత్రుడు కాకుండునట్లు వాటిని పుచ్చుకొనకుండ సెలవిమ్మని నపుంసకుల యధిపతిని వేడు కొనగా

8. But Daniel had determined in his heart, that hee woulde not defile him selfe with the portion of the Kings meate, nor with the wine which he dranke: therefore he required the chiefe of the Eunuches that he might not defile himselfe.

9. దేవుడు నపుంసకుల యధిపతి దృష్టికి దానియేలు నకు కృపాకటాక్షమునొంద ననుగ్రహించెను గనుక నపుంసకుల యధిపతి దానియేలుతో ఇట్లనెను

9. (Nowe God had brought Daniel into fauour, and tender loue with the chiefe of the Eunuches)

10. మీకు అన్నపానములను నియమించిన రాజగు నా యజమానునికి నేను భయపడుచున్నాను; మీ ఈడు బాలుర ముఖముల కంటె మీ ముఖములు కృశించినట్లు ఆయనకు కనబడ నేల? అట్లయితే మీరు రాజుచేత నాకు ప్రాణాపాయము కలుగజేతురు.

10. And the chiefe of the Eunuches sayd vnto Daniel, I feare my lord the King, who hath appointed your meate and your drinke: therefore if he see your faces worse liking then the other children, which are of your sort, then shall you make me lose mine head vnto the King.

11. నపుంసకుల యధిపతి దానియేలు, హనన్యా, మిషాయేలు, అజర్యా అనువారిమీద నియమించిన నియామకునితో దానియేలు ఇట్లనెను.

11. Then sayd Daniel to Melzar, whome the chiefe of the Eunuches had set ouer Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,

12. భోజనమునకు శాకధాన్యాదులను పానమునకు నీళ్లును నీ దాసులమగు మాకిప్పించి, దయచేసి పది దినములవరకు మమ్మును పరీక్షింపుము.

12. Proue thy seruants, I beseeche thee, ten dayes, and let them giue vs pulse to eate, and water to drinke.

13. పిమ్మట మా ముఖములను, రాజు నియమించిన భోజనము భుజించు బాలుర ముఖములను చూచి నీకు తోచినట్టుగా నీ దాసులమైన మాయెడల జరిగింపుము.

13. Then let our countenances bee looked vpon before thee, and the countenances of the children that eate of the portion of the Kings meate: and as thou seest, deale with thy seruantes.

14. అందుకతడు ఈ విషయములో వారి మాటకు సమ్మతించి పది దినములవరకు వారిని పరీక్షించెను.

14. So hee consented to them in this matter, an proued them ten dayes.

15. పది దినములైన పిమ్మట వారి ముఖములు రాజు భోజనము భుజించు బాలురందరి ముఖముల కంటె సౌందర్యముగాను కళగాను కనబడగా

15. And at the end of ten dayes, their countenances appeared fayrer, and in better liking then all the childrens, which did eate the portion of the Kings meate.

16. రాజు వారికి నియమించిన భోజనమును పానముకొరకైన ద్రాక్షా రసమును ఆ నియామకుడు తీసివేసి, వారికి శాకధాన్యా దుల నిచ్చెను.

16. Thus Melzar tooke away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drinke, and gaue them pulse.

17. ఈ నలుగురు బాలుర సంగతి ఏమనగా, దేవుడు వారికి జ్ఞానమును సకల శాస్త్రప్రవీణతయు వివేచనయు అనుగ్రహించెను. మరియు దానియేలు సకల విధములగు దర్శనములను స్వప్నభావములను గ్రహించు తెలివిగలవాడై యుండెను.

17. As for these foure children, God gaue them knowledge, and vnderstanding in al learning and wisedome: also he gaue Daniel vnderstanding of all visions and dreames.

18. నెబుకద్నెజరు తన సముఖమునకు వారిని తేవలెనని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి నియమించిన దినములు కాగానే నపుంసకుల యధిపతి రాజు సముఖమున వారిని నిలువబెట్టెను.

18. Nowe when the time was expired, that the King had appoynted to bring them in, the chiefe of the Eunuches brought them before Nebuchad-nezzar.

19. రాజు వారితో మాటలాడగా వారందరిలో దానియేలు, హనన్యా, మిషాయేలు, అజర్యా వంటివారెవ రును కనబడలేదు గనుక వారే రాజు సముఖమున నిలిచిరి.

19. And the King communed with them: and among them al was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stoode they before the king.

20. రాజు వీరియొద్ద విచారణ చేయగా జ్ఞానవివేకముల సంబంధ మైన ప్రతివిషయములో వీరు తన రాజ్యమందంతటనుండు శకునగాండ్రకంటెను గారడీవిద్య గలవారందరికంటెను పది యంతలు శ్రేష్ఠులని తెలియబడెను.

20. And in all matters of wisedome, and vnderstanding that the King enquired of them, hee founde them tenne times better then all the inchanters and astrologians, that were in all his realme.

21. ఈ దానియేలు కోరెషు ఏలుబడిలో మొదటి సంవత్సరమువరకు జీవించెను.

21. And Daniel was vnto the first yeere of king Cyrus.
