1. ఆ దినములలో ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు రాజు లేడు. మరియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములలో ఆ దినమువరకు దానీయులు స్వాస్థ్యము పొంది యుండలేదు గనుక ఆ కాలమున తాము నివసించుటకు తమకు స్వాస్థ్యము వెదకు కొనుటకై వారు బయలుదేరియుండిరి.

1. In those dayes there was no kyng in Israel, and in those dayes the tribe of Dan sought them an inheritaunce to dwell in: For vnto that tyme all their inheritaunce had not fallen vnto them among the tribe of Israel.

2. ఆ దేశసంచారము చేసి దానిని పరిశోధించుటకై దానీయులు తమ వంశస్థు లందరిలోనుండి పరాక్రమ వంతులైన అయిదుగురు మను ష్యులను జొర్యా నుండియు ఎష్తాయోలునుండియు పంపిమీరు వెళ్లి దేశమును పరిశోధించుడని వారితోచెప్పగా

2. And the children of Dan sent of their kynred fyue actiue men in feates of warre out of their coastes, euen out of Zaraah & Esthaol, to viewe the lande and searche it out, and sayde vnto them: Go, and searche out the lande. Which whan they came to mount Ephraim, euen to the house of Micah, they lodged there.

3. వారు ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల మన్యముననున్న మీకా యింటికి వచ్చి అక్కడ దిగిరి. వారు మీకా యింటియొద్ద నున్నప్పుడు, లేవీయుడైన ఆ ¸యౌవనుని స్వరమును పోల్చి ఆ వైపునకు తిరిగి అతనితో ఎవడు నిన్ను ఇక్కడికి రప్పించెను? ఈ చోటున నీవేమి చేయుచున్నావు? ఇక్కడ నీకేమి కలిగియున్నదని యడుగగా

3. And when they were in the house of Micah, they knewe the voyce of the young man the Leuite: And when they turned in thyther, they sayde vnto him: Who brought thee thyther? What makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?

4. అతడు మీకా తనకు చేసిన విధముచెప్పిమీకా నాకు జీతమిచ్చు చున్నాడు, నేను అతనికి యాజకుడనై యున్నా నని వారితో చెప్పెను.

4. And he aunswered them: Thus and thus dealeth Micah with me, and hath hyred me, and I am become his priest.

5. అప్పుడు వారుమేము చేయ బోవుపని శుభమగునో కాదో మేము తెలిసికొనునట్లు దయ చేసి దేవునియొద్ద విచారించుమని అతనితో అనగా

5. And they sayd vnto hym agayne: Aske counsell now of God, that we may knowe whether the way which we go shalbe prousperous, or no.

6. ఆ యాజకుడు క్షేమముగా వెళ్లుడి, మీరు చేయబోవుపని యెహోవా దృష్టికి అనుకూలమని వారితో చెప్పెను.

6. And the priest sayde vnto them: Go in peace, for the Lorde guydeth your way which ye go.

7. కాబట్టి ఆ అయిదుగురు మనుష్యులు వెళ్లి లాయిషునకు వచ్చి, దానిలోని జనము సీదోనీయులవలె సుఖముగాను నిర్భయముగాను నివసించుటయు, అధికారబలము పొందిన వాడెవడును లేకపోవుటయు, ఏమాత్రమైనను అవమాన పరచగలవాడెవడును ఆ దేశములో లేకపోవుటయు, వారు సీదోనీయులకు దూరస్థులై యే మనుష్యులతోను సాంగత్యము లేకుండుటయు చూచిరి.

7. Then the fyue men departed, & came to Lais, and sawe the people that were therin, howe they dwelt carelesse, after the maner of the Sidons styll, & without castyng of perils, and that no man made any trouble in the lande, or vsurped any dominion: but were farre from the Sidons, and had no busynesse with other men.

8. వారు జొర్యా లోను ఎష్తాయోలులోను ఉండు తమ స్వజనులయొద్దకు రాగా వారుమీ తాత్పర్యమేమిటని యడిగిరి.

8. And they came agayne vnto their brethren to Zaraah and Esthaol, and their brethren sayde vnto them: What haue ye done?

9. అందుకు వారులెండి, వారిమీద పడుదము, ఆ దేశమును మేము చూచితివిు, అది బహు మంచిది, మీరు ఊరకనున్నా రేమి? ఆలస్యము చేయక బయలుదేరి ప్రవేశించి ఆ దేశమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొనుడి.

9. And they aunswered: Aryse, that we may go vp agaynst them, for we haue seene the lande, surely a very good one: And do ye syt styll? Be not slouthfull to go and entre to possesse the lande.

10. జనులు నిర్భయముగా నున్నారు గనుక మీరు పోయి వారిమీద పడవచ్చును. ఆ దేశము నలుదిక్కుల విశాలమైనది, దేవుడు మీ చేతికి దాని నప్పగించును, భూమిలోనున్న పదార్థములలో ఏదియు అచ్చట కొదువలేదనిరి.

10. Yf ye will go, ye shall come vnto a people that casteth no perils, and it is a very large countrey, which God hath geuen into your handes: It is also a place which doth lacke nothing that is in the worlde.

11. అప్పుడు జొర్యాలోను ఎష్తాయోలులోను ఉన్న దానీయులైన ఆరువందలమంది యుద్ధాయుధములు కట్టు కొని అక్కడనుండి బయలుదేరి యూదా దేశమందలి కిర్యత్యారీములో దిగిరి.

11. And there departed thence of the kynred of the Danites, euen out of Zaraah and Esthaol, sixe hundred men appoyntted with instrumentes of warre.

12. అందుచేతను నేటివరకు ఆ స్థల మునకు దానీయులదండని పేరు. అది కిర్యత్యారీమునకు పడమట నున్నది.

12. And they went vp, and pytched in Kiriath iarim, whiche is in Iuda: Wherfore they called the place, Mahaneh Dan, vnto this day, and it is on ye backsyde of Kiriath iarim.

13. అక్కడనుండి వారు ఎఫ్రాయిమీ యుల మన్యప్రదేశమునకు పోయి మీకా యింటికి వచ్చిరి.

13. And they went thence vnto mount Ephraim, & came vnto the house of Micah.

14. కాబట్టి లాయిషుదేశమును సంచరించుటకు పోయిన ఆ అయిదుగురు మను ష్యులు తమ సహోదరులను చూచిఈ యిండ్లలో ఏఫోదును గృహదేవతలును చెక్క బడిన ప్రతిమయు పోతవిగ్రహమును ఉన్నవని మీరెరుగుదురా? మీరేమి చేయవలెనో దాని యోచన చేయుడనగా

14. Then aunswered the fiue men that went to spye out the countrey of Lais, and saide vnto their brethren: Wot ye not that there is in these houses an Ephod, Theraphim, and a grauen and a moulten image? Nowe therfore consider what ye haue to do.

15. వారు ఆతట్టు తిరిగి లేవీయుడైన ఆ ¸యౌవను డున్న మీకా యింటికి వచ్చి అతని కుశలప్రశ్నలడిగిరి.

15. And they turned thytherwarde, and came to the house of the young man the Leuite, euen vnto the house of Micah, and saluted hym peaceablie.

16. దానీయులైన ఆ ఆరువందలమంది తమ యుద్ధాయుధము లను కట్టుకొని

16. And the sixe hundred men girded with weapons of warre, which were of the children of Dan, stoode by the entryng of the gate.

17. గవినివాకిట నిలుచుండగా, దేశమును సంచరించుటకు పోయిన ఆ అయిదుగురు మనుష్యులు లోపలచొచ్చి ఆ ప్రతిమను ఏఫోదును గృహదేవతలను పోతవిగ్రహమును పట్టుకొనిరి. అప్పుడు ఆ యాజకుడు యుద్ధాయుధములు కట్టుకొనిన ఆ ఆరువందల మంది మను ష్యులతోకూడ గవిని యెదుట వాకిట నిలిచియుండెను.

17. And the fiue men that went to spye out the lande, went in thyther, & toke the graue image, & the Ephod, Theraphim, and the moulten image: (And the priest stoode in the entryng of the gate with the sixe hundred men that were appointed with weapons of warre.)

18. వీరు మీకా యింటికిపోయి చెక్క బడిన ప్రతిమను ఏఫో దును గృహదేవతలను పోతవి గ్రహమును పట్టుకొనినప్పుడు ఆ యాజకుడుమీరేమి చేయుచున్నారని వారి నడుగగా

18. Whyle the other went into Micahs house, and fet the carued image, the Ephod, Theraphim, and the moulten image: Then saide the priest vnto them, what do ye?

19. వారునీవు ఊర కుండుము, నీ చెయ్యి నీ నోటి మీద ఉంచుకొని మాతోకూడ వచ్చి మాకు తండ్రివిగాను యాజకుడవుగాను ఉండుము, ఒకని యింటివారికే యాజ కుడవై యుండుట నీకు మంచిదా, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో ఒక గోత్ర మునకును కుటుంబమునకును యాజకుడవైయుం డుట మంచిదా? అని యడిగిరి.

19. They aunswered hym: Holde thy peace, lay thine hande vpon thy mouth, and come with vs, to be our father and priest: Is it better for thee to be a priest vnto the house of one man, then to be a priest vnto a tribe or kynred in Israel?

20. అప్పుడు ఆ యాజకుడు హృదయమున సంతోషించి ఆ ఏఫోదును గృహదేవతలను చెక్కబడిన ప్రతిమను పట్టుకొని ఆ జనుల మధ్య చేరెను.

20. And the priestes hearte was glad, and toke the Ephod, and Theraphim, and the grauen image, and went in the middest of the people.

21. అట్లు వారు తిరిగి చిన్నపిల్లలను పశువులను సామగ్రిని తమకు ముందుగా నడిపించుకొనిపోయిరి.

21. And they turned and departed, and put the children, the catell, and their other substaunce before them.

22. వారు మీకా యింటికి దూరమైనప్పుడు, మీకా పొరు గిండ్లవారు పోగై దానీయులను వెంటాడి కలిసికొని వారిని పిలువగా

22. And whe they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses neare to Micahs house, gathered together, & folowed after the children of Dan:

23. వారు తమ ముఖములను త్రిప్పు కొనినీకేమి కావలెను? ఇట్లు గుంపుకూడ నేల? అని మీకాను అడిగిరి.

23. And called vnto them, and they turned their faces, & said vnto Micah: What ayleth thee, that thou makest an outcrye?

24. అందు కతడునేను చేయించిన నా దేవతలను నేను ప్రతిష్ఠించిన యాజకుని మీరు పట్టు కొని పోవుచున్నారే, యిక నా యొద్ద ఏమియున్నది? నీకేమి కావలెననుచున్నారే, అదే మన్నమాట అనగా

24. And he sayd: Ye haue taken away my goddes which I made, and also ye priest, and go your wayes: and what haue I more? How then saye ye vnto me, What ayleth thee?

25. దానీయులునీ స్వరము మాలో నెవనికిని వినబడనీ యకుము, వారు ఆగ్రహపడి నీమీద పడుదురేమో, అప్పుడు నీవు నీ ప్రాణమును నీ యింటివారి ప్రాణమును పోగొట్టుకొందువని అతనితో చెప్పి

25. And the children of Dan said vnto him: Let not thy voyce be hearde among vs, lest angrye felowes runne vpon thee, & thou lose thy lyfe, with the lyues of all thyne housholde.

26. తమ త్రోవను వెళ్లిరి. వారు తనకంటె బలవంతులని మీకా గ్రహించినవాడై తిరిగి తన యింటికి వెళ్లిపోయెను.

26. And so the children of Dan went their wayes: And when Micah sawe that they were to strong for hym, he turned and went backe vnto his house.

27. మీకా చేసికొనినదానిని, అతని యొద్దనున్న యాజకునిని వారు పట్టుకొని, సుఖముగాను నిర్భయముగాను ఉన్న లాయిషు వారి మీదికి వచ్చి కత్తివాత వారిని హతముచేసి అగ్నిచేత ఆ పట్టణమును కాల్చివేసిరి.

27. And they toke the thinges which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came vnto Lais, euen vnto a people that were at rest and without mystrust, and smote them with the edge of the sword, & burnt the citie with fire.

28. అది సీదోనుకు దూరమై నందునను, వారికి అన్యులతో సాంగత్యమేమియు లేనందు నను వారిలో ఎవడును తప్పించుకొనలేదు. అది బేత్రె హోబునకు సమీపమైన లోయలోనున్నది.

28. And there was no man to helpe, because Lais was farre from Sidon, & they had medlyng with any other man: And it was in the valley that lyeth by Bethrehob.

29. వారొక పట్టణమును కట్టుకొని అక్కడ నివసించిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలుకు పుట్టిన తమ తండ్రి యైన దానునుబట్టి ఆ పట్టణమునకు దాను అను పేరు పెట్టిరి. పూర్వము ఆ పట్టణమునకు లాయిషు అను పేరు.

29. And they buylt them there a citie, and dwelt therin, & called it Dan after the name of Dan their father, which was borne vnto Israel: Howbeit, the name of the citie was Lais at ye begynnyng.

30. దానీయులు చెక్కబడిన ఆ ప్రతి మను నిలుపుకొనిరి. మోషే మనుమడును గెర్షోను కుమా రుడునైన యోనాతాననువాడును వాని కుమారులును ఆ దేశము చెరపట్టబడువరకు దానీయుల గోత్రమునకు యాజకులై యుండిరి.

30. And the chyldren of Dan set them vp the grauen image: And Ionathan the sonne of Gersom, the sonne of Manasses, and his sonnes, were the priestes in the tribe of Dan, vntyl the day of the captiuitie of the lande.

31. దేవుని మందిరము షిలోహులోనున్న దినములన్నిటను వారు మీకా చేయించిన ప్రతిమను నిలుపుకొనియుండిరి.

31. And they set them vp the carued image which Micah made, all the while that the house of God was in Silo.
