1. సిరియనులును ఇశ్రాయేలువారును మూడు సంవత్సర ములు ఒకరితో ఒకరు యుద్ధము జరిగింపక మానిరి.

1. For three years there was no war between Aram and Isra'el.

2. మూడవ సంవత్సరమందు యూదారాజైన యెహోషాపాతు బయలుదేరి ఇశ్రాయేలురాజునొద్దకు రాగా

2. Then, in the third year, Y'hoshafat the king of Y'hudah came down to the king of Isra'el.

3. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు తన సేవకులను పిలిపించిరామోత్గిలాదు మనదని మీరెరుగుదురు; అయితే మనము సిరియా రాజు చేతిలోనుండి దాని తీసికొనక ఊరకున్నామని చెప్పి

3. The king of Isra'el said to his servants, 'Are you aware that Ramot-Gil'ad belongs to us; yet, we're doing nothing to recover it from the king of Aram?'

4. యుద్ధము చేయుటకు నాతోకూడ నీవు రామోత్గిలాదునకు వచ్చెదవా అని యెహోషాపాతును అడిగెను. అందుకు యెహోషాపాతునేను నీవాడనే; నా జనులు నీ జనులే నా గుఱ్ఱములును నీ గుఱ్ఱములే అని ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుతో చెప్పెను.

4. He said to Y'hoshafat, 'Will you go with me to attack Ramot-Gil'ad?' Y'hoshafat answered the king of Isra'el, 'I'm with you all the way; think of my troops and horses as yours.'

5. పిమ్మట యెహోషాపాతునేడు యెహోవా యొద్ద విచారణచేయుదము రండని ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుతో అనగా

5. But Y'hoshafat said to the king of Isra'el, 'First, we should seek the word of ADONAI.'

6. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు దాదాపు నాలుగు వందలమంది ప్రవక్తలను పిలిపించియుద్ధము చేయుటకు రామోత్గిలాదుమీదికి పోదునా పోకుందునా అని వారి నడిగెను. అందుకుయెహోవా దానిని రాజైన నీ చేతికి అప్పగించును గనుక

6. So the king of Isra'el assembled the prophets, about 400 men. 'Should I attack Ramot-Gil'ad?' he asked them, 'Or should I hold off?' They said, 'Attack! [Adonai] will hand it over to the king.'

7. పొండని వారు చెప్పిరి గాని యెహోషాపాతువిచారణ చేయుటకై వీరు తప్పయెహోవా ప్రవక్తలలో ఒకడైనను ఇక్కడ లేడా అని అడిగెను.

7. But Y'hoshafat said, 'Besides these, isn't there a prophet of ADONAI here that we can consult?'

8. అందుకు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుఇవ్లూ కుమారుడైన మీకాయా అను ఒకడున్నాడు; అతనిద్వారా మనము యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేయవచ్చును గాని, అతడు నన్నుగూర్చి మేలు ప్రకటింపక కీడే ప్రకటించును గనుక అతనియందు నాకు ద్వేషము కలదని యెహోషాపాతుతో అనగా యెహోషాపాతురాజైన మీరు ఆలా గనవద్దనెను.

8. The king of Isra'el said to Y'hoshafat, 'Yes, there is still one man through whom we can consult ADONAI, Mikhay'hu the son of Yimlah; but I hate him, because he doesn't prophesy good things for me, but bad!' Y'hoshafat replied, 'The king shouldn't say such a thing.'

9. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు తన పరివారములో ఒకనిని పిలిచిఇవ్లూ కుమారుడైన మీకాయాను శీఘ్రముగా ఇక్కడికి రప్పించుమని సెలవిచ్చెను.

9. Then the king of Isra'el called an officer and said, 'Quickly! Bring Mikhay'hu the son of Yimlah.'

10. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజును యూదారాజగు యెహోషాపాతును రాజవస్త్రములు ధరించుకొని, షోమ్రోను గవిని దగ్గరనున్న విశాల స్థలమందు గద్దెలమీద ఆసీనులై యుండి, ప్రవక్తలందరును వారి సమక్షమందు ప్రకటన చేయుచుండగా

10. Now the king of Isra'el and Y'hoshafat the king of Y'hudah were each sitting on his throne, dressed in their royal robes, on a threshing-floor at the entrance to the gate of Shomron; and all the prophets were there, prophesying in their presence.

11. కెనయనా కుమారుడైన సిద్కియా యినుప కొమ్ములు చేయించుకొని వచ్చివీటిచేత నీవు సిరియనులను పొడిచి నాశనము చేతువని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చు చున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

11. Tzidkiyah the son of Kena'anah had made himself some horns out of iron and said, 'This is what ADONAI says: 'With these you will gore Aram until they are destroyed.''

12. ప్రవక్తలందరును ఆ చొప్పుననే ప్రకటన చేయుచుయెహోవా రామోత్గిలాదును రాజవైన నీ చేతికి అప్పగించును గనుక నీవు దానిమీదికి పోయి జయమొందుదువు అని చెప్పిరి.

12. All the prophets prophesied the same thing: 'Go up and attack Ramot-Gil'ad. You will succeed, for ADONAI will hand it over to the king.'

13. మీకాయాను పిలువబోయిన దూత ప్రవక్తలు ఏకముగా రాజుతో మంచి మాటలు పలుకుచున్నారు గనుక నీ మాట వారి మాటకు అనుకూలపరచుమని అతనితో అనగా

13. The messenger who had gone to call Mikhay'hu said to him, 'Here, now, the prophets are unanimously predicting success for the king. Please let your word be like the word of one of them- say something good.'

14. మీకాయాయెహోవా నాకు సెల విచ్చునదేదో ఆయన జీవముతోడు నేను దానినే పలు కుదుననెను.

14. But Mikhay'hu answered, 'As ADONAI lives, whatever ADONAI says to me is what I will say.'

15. అతడు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చినప్పుడు రాజుమీకాయా, నీవేమందువు? యుద్ధము చేయుటకు మేము రామోత్గిలాదు మీదికి పోదుమా పోకుందుమా అని యడుగగా అతడుయెహోవా దానిని రాజవైన నీ చేతికి నప్ప గించును గనుక నీవు దానిమీదికిపోయి జయమొందుదువని రాజుతో అనెను.

15. When he reached the king, the king asked him, 'Mikhay'hu, should we go up and attack Ramot-Gil'ad; or should we hold off?' He answered, 'Go up, you will succeed, ADONAI will hand it over to the king.'

16. అందుకు రాజునీచేత ప్రమాణము చేయించి యెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి నిజమైన మాటలే నీవు నాతో పలుకవలసినదని నేనెన్ని మారులు నీతో చెప్పితిని అని రాజు సెలవియ్యగా

16. The king said to him, 'How many times do I have to warn you to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of ADONAI?'

17. అతడుఇశ్రాయేలీయు లందరును కాపరిలేని గొఱ్ఱెలవలెనే కొండలమీద చెదరి యుండుట నేను చూచితిని వారికి యజమానుడు లేడు; ఎవరి యింటికి వారు సమాధానముగా వెళ్లవలసినదని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చెను అని చెప్పెను.

17. Then he said, 'I saw all Isra'el scattered over the hills like sheep without a shepherd; and ADONAI said, 'These men have no leader; let everyone go home in peace.''

18. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రా యేలురాజు యెహోషాపాతును చూచిఇతడు నన్ను గూర్చి మేలుపలుకక కీడే ప్రవచించునని నేను నీతో చెప్పలేదా అనగా

18. The king of Isra'el said to Y'hoshafat, 'Didn't I tell you that he wouldn't prophesy good things about me, but bad?'

19. మీకాయా యిట్లనెనుయెహోవా సెలవిచ్చిన మాట ఆలకించుము; యెహోవా సింహాసనాసీనుడై యుండగా పరలోకసైన్యమంతయు ఆయన కుడి పార్శ్వమునను ఎడమపార్శ్వమునను నిలిచి యుండుట నేను చూచితిని

19. Mikhay'hu continued: 'Therefore hear the word of ADONAI. I saw ADONAI sitting on his throne with the whole army of heaven standing by him on his right and on his left.

20. అహాబు రామోత్గిలాదుమీదికి పోయి అక్కడ ఓడిపోవునట్లుగా ఎవడు అతనిని ప్రేరేపించునని యెహోవా సెలవియ్యగా, ఒకడు ఈ విధముగాను మరియొకడు ఆ విధముగాను యోచన చెప్పుచుండిరి.

20. ADONAI asked, 'Who will entice Ach'av to go up to his death at Ramot-Gil'ad?' One of them said, 'Do it this way,' and another, 'Do it that way.'

21. అంతలో ఒక ఆత్మ యెదుటికి వచ్చి యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిలువబడినేను అతనిని ప్రేరేపించెదననగా యెహోవాఏ ప్రకారము నీవతని ప్రేరేపించుదువని అతని నడిగెను.

21. Then a spirit stepped up, stood in front of ADONAI and said, 'I will entice him.'

22. అందుకతడునేను బయలుదేరి అతని ప్రవక్తల నోట అబద్ధమాడు ఆత్మగా ఉందునని చెప్పగా ఆయననీవు అతని ప్రేరేపించి జయము నొందుదువు; పోయి ఆ ప్రకారము చేయుమని అతనికి సెలవిచ్చెను.

22. ADONAI asked, 'How?' and he answered, 'I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.' ADONAI said, 'You will succeed in enticing him. Go, and do it.'

23. యెహోవా నిన్నుగూర్చి కీడు యోచించి నీ ప్రవక్తల నోట అబద్ధమాడు ఆత్మను ఉంచియున్నాడు.

23. So now ADONAI has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours; meanwhile, ADONAI has ordained disaster for you.'

24. మీకాయా యిట్లనగా, కెనయనా కుమారుడైన సిద్కియా అతని దగ్గరకు వచ్చినీతో మాటలాడుటకు యెహోవా ఆత్మ నాయొద్దనుండి ఏవైపుగా పోయెనని చెప్పి మీకాయాను చెంపమీద కొట్టెను.

24. Then Tzidkiyah the son of Kena'anah came up, slapped Mikhay'hu in the face and said, 'And how did the Spirit of ADONAI leave me to speak to you?'

25. అందుకు మీకాయా దాగుకొనుటకై నీవు ఆ యా గదులలోనికి చొరబడు నాడు అది నీకు తెలియ వచ్చునని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

25. Mikhay'hu said, 'You'll find out the day you go into an inside room, trying to hide.'

26. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుమీకాయాను పట్టుకొని తీసికొని పోయి పట్టణపు అధికారియైన ఆమోనునకును రాజకుమారుడైన యోవాషు నకును అప్పగించి

26. The king of Isra'el said, 'Seize Mikhay'hu, and take him back to Amon the governor of the city and Yo'ash the king's son.

27. బందీగృహములో ఉంచి, మేము క్షేమముగా తిరిగివచ్చువరకు అతనికి కష్టమైన అన్నము నీళ్లు ఈయుడని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

27. Say, 'The king says to put this man in prison; and feed him only bread and water, and not much of that, until I return in peace.''

28. అప్పుడు మీకాయా ఈలాగు చెప్పెను సకలజనులారా, నా మాట ఆలకించు డని చెప్పెనురాజవైన నీవు ఏమాత్రమైనను క్షేమముగా తిరిగి వచ్చినయెడల యెహోవా నాచేత పలుకలేదు.

28. Mikhay'hu said, 'If you return in peace at all, ADONAI has not spoken through me!' Then he added, 'Did you hear me, you peoples, all of you?'

29. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజును యూదారాజగు యెహోషా పాతును రామోత్గిలాదు మీదికి పోవుచుండగా

29. So the king of Isra'el and Y'hoshafat the king of Y'hudah went up to Ramot-Gil'ad.

30. ఇశ్రా యేలురాజునేను మారువేషము వేసికొని యుద్ధములో ప్రవేశించెదను, నీవైతే నీ వస్త్రములు ధరించుకొని ప్రవే శించుమని యెహోషాపాతుతో చెప్పి మారువేషము వేసికొని యుద్ధమందు ప్రవేశించెను.

30. The king of Isra'el said to Y'hoshafat, 'I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you, put on your robes.' So the king of Isra'el disguised himself and went into battle.

31. సరియారాజు తన రథ ములమీద అధికారులైన ముప్పది ఇద్దరు అధిపతులను పిలి పించి అల్పులతోనైనను ఘనులతోనైనను మీరు పోట్లాడవద్దు; ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుతో మాత్రమే పోట్లాడుడని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చియుండగా

31. Now the king of Aram had ordered the thirty-two chariot commanders, 'Don't attack anyone of either high or low rank, only the king of Isra'el.'

32. రథాధిపతులు యెహోషాపాతును చూచియితడే ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజనుకొని అతనితో పోట్లాడుటకు అతని మీదికి వచ్చిరి. యెహోషాపాతు కేకలువేయగా

32. So when the chariot commanders saw Y'hoshafat they said, 'This must be the king of Isra'el,' and turned to attack him. But Y'hoshafat gave a yell,

33. రథాధిపతులు అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు కానట్టు గురుతుపట్టి అతని తరుముట మానివేసిరి.

33. so that the chariot commanders saw that he wasn't the king of Isra'el and stopped pursuing him.

34. పమ్మట ఒకడు తన విల్లు తీసి గురి చూడకయే విడువగా అది ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుకు కవచపుకీలు మధ్యను తగిలెను గనుక అతడునాకు గాయమైనది, రథము త్రిప్పి సైన్యములో నుండి నన్ను అవతలకు తీసికొని పొమ్మని తన సారధితో చెప్పెను.

34. However, one soldier shot an arrow at random and struck the king of Isra'el between his lower armor and his breastplate. So the king said to his chariot-driver, 'Turn the reins, and take me out of the fighting; I'm collapsing from my wounds.'

35. నాడు యుద్ధము బలముగా జరుగుచున్నప్పుడు రాజును సిరియనుల యెదుట అతని రథముమీద నిలువ బెట్టిరి; అస్తమయమందు అతడు మరణమాయెను; తగిలిన గాయములోనుండి అతని రక్తము కారి రథములో మడుగు గట్టెను.

35. But the fighting grew fiercer that day; and they propped the king upright in his chariot facing Aram until he died, in the evening, with the blood streaming from his wound onto the floor of the chariot.

36. సూర్యాస్తమయ సమయమందు దండువారందరు తమ తమ పట్టణములకును దేశములకును వెళ్లి పోవచ్చు నని ప్రచురమాయెను.

36. Around sundown, a cry spread through the ranks: 'Every man to his own town! Every man to his own land!'

37. ఈ ప్రకారము రాజు మరణమై షోమ్రోనునకు కొనిపోబడి షోమ్రోనులో పాతిపెట్టబడెను.

37. So the king died and was brought to Shomron, and they buried the king in Shomron.

38. వేశ్యలు స్నానము చేయుచుండగా ఒకడు ఆ రథమును షోమ్రోను కొలనులో కడిగినప్పుడు యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చిన మాటచొప్పున కుక్కలు వచ్చి అతని రక్తమును నాకెను.

38. They washed the chariot at the Pool of Shomron where the prostitutes bathed, and the dogs licked up his blood, in keeping with the word ADONAI had spoken.

39. అహాబు చేసిన యితర కార్యములనుగూర్చియు, అతడు చేసిన దానంతటినిగూర్చియు, అతడు కట్టించిన దంతపు ఇంటినిగూర్చియు, అతడు కట్టించిన పట్టణములను గూర్చియు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల వృత్తాంతముల గ్రంథ మందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

39. Other activities of Ach'av's reign, all his accomplishments, the ivory palace he built and all the cities he built are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Isra'el.

40. అహాబు తన పితరులతో కూడ నిద్రించగా అతని కుమారుడైన అహజ్యా అతనికి మారుగా రాజాయెను.

40. So Ach'av slept with his ancestors, and Achazyah his son became king in his place.

41. ఆసా కుమారుడైన యెహోషాపాతు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన అహాబు ఏలుబడిలో నాలుగవ సంవత్సరమందు యూదాను ఏలనారంభించెను.

41. Y'hoshafat the son of Asa began his reign over Y'hudah in the fourth year of Ach'av king of Isra'el.

42. యెహోషాపాతు ఏల నారంభించినప్పుడు అతడు ముప్పది యయిదేండ్లవాడై యెరూషలేములో యిరువది యైదేండ్లు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి పేరు అజూబా, ఆమె షిల్హీకుమార్తెయై యుండెను.

42. Y'hoshafat was thirty-five years old when he began to rule, and he ruled twenty-five years in Yerushalayim. His mother's name was 'Azuvah the daughter of Shilchi.

43. అతడు తన తండ్రియైన ఆసాయొక్క మార్గములన్నిటి ననుసరించి, యెహోవా దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగా ప్రవర్తించుచు వచ్చెను. అయితే ఉన్నత స్థలములను తీసివేయలేదు; ఉన్నత స్థలములలో జనులు ఇంకను బలులు అర్పిం చుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండిరి.

43. He lived in the manner of Asa his father and did not turn away from it, doing what was right from ADONAI's perspective;

44. యెహోషాపాతు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుతో సంధిచేసెను.

44. although the high places were not taken away- the people still sacrificed and presented offerings on the high places.

45. యెహోషాపాతు చేసిన యితర కార్యములనుగూర్చియు, అతడు కనుపరచిన బలమునుగూర్చియు, అతడు యుద్థముచేసిన విధమును గూర్చియు యూదారాజుల వృత్తాంతముల గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

45. Y'hoshafat made peace with the king of Isra'el.

46. తన తండ్రియైన ఆసాదినములలో శేషించియుండిన పురుషగాములను అతడు దేశములోనుండి వెళ్లగొట్టెను.

46. Other activities of Y'hoshafat, all his power that he demonstrated and how he made war are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Y'hudah.

47. ఆ కాలమందు ఎదోము దేశమునకు రాజు లేకపోయెను; ప్రధానియైన యొకడు రాజ్యపాలనము చేయుచుండెను.

47. He rid the land of the male and female cult-prostitutes remaining from the time of his father Asa.

48. యెహోషాపాతు బంగారము తెచ్చుటకై ఓఫీరుదేశమునకు పోవుటకు తర్షీషు ఓడలను కట్టింపగా ఆ ఓడలు బయలుదేరక ఎసోన్గెబెరునొద్ద బద్దలై పోయెను.

48. There had previously been no king in Edom, but now a deputy was made king.

49. అహాబు కుమారుడైన అహజ్యానా సేవకులను నీ సేవకులతో కూడ ఓడలమీద పోనిమ్మని యెహోషా పాతు నడుగగా యెహోషాపాతు దానికి ఒప్పలేదు.

49. Y'hoshafat built some large 'Tarshish' ships to go to Ofir for gold, but they didn't make the voyage, because they were wrecked at 'Etzyon-Gever.

50. పమ్మట యెహోషా పాతు తన పితరులతోకూడ నిద్రించి, తన పితరుడైన దావీదుపురమందు తన పితరులతోకూడ పాతిపెట్ట బడెను; అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోరాము అతనికి మారుగా రాజాయెను.

50. Achazyah the son of Ach'av suggested to Y'hoshafat that his men should go to sea with Y'hoshafat's men, but Y'hoshafat would not agree.

51. అహాబు కుమారుడైన అహజ్యా యూదారాజైన యెహోషాపాతు ఏలుబడిలో పదునేడవ సంవత్సరమందు షోమ్రోనులో ఇశ్రాయేలును ఏలనారంభించి రెండు సంవ త్సరములు ఇశ్రాయేలును ఏలెను.

51. So Y'hoshafat slept with his ancestors and was buried with his ancestors in the City of David his ancestor, and Y'horam his son became king in his place.

52. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడుతనము జరిగించి, తన తలిదండ్రు లిద్దరి ప్రవర్త నను, ఇశ్రాయేలువారు పాపము చేయుటకు కారకుడైన నెబాతు కుమారుడగు యరొబాము ప్రవర్తనను అనుసరించి ప్రవర్తించుచు వచ్చెను.

52. Achazyah the son of Ach'av began his reign over Isra'el in Shomron in the seventeenth year of Y'hoshafat king of Y'hudah, and he ruled two years over Isra'el.

53. అతడు బయలు దేవతను పూజిం చుచు, వానికి నమస్కారము చేయుచు, తన తండ్రి చేసిన క్రియలన్నిటి చొప్పున జరిగించుచు, ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు కోపము పుట్టించెను.

53. He did what was evil from ADONAI's perspective, living in the manner of his father, his mother and Yarov'am the son of N'vat, by which he led Isra'el into sin.
