1. తనకు ఐశ్వర్యమును ఘనతయు అధికముగా కలిగిన తరువాత యెహోషాపాతు అహాబుతో వియ్యమంది

1. And Jehosaphat became very rich and glorious, and joined affinity with Ahab.

2. కొన్ని సంవత్సరములు గతించినమీదట షోమ్రోనులో నుండు అహాబునొద్దకు పోయెను; అహాబు అతని కొరకును అతని వెంటవచ్చిన జనులకొరకును అనేక మైన గొఱ్ఱెలను పశువులను కోయించి, తనతోకూడ రామోత్గిలాదు మీదికిపోవుటకు అతని ప్రేరేపించెను.

2. And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab slew sheep and oxen plenteously for him and for the people that came with him, and entreated him to go up unto Ramoth in Gilead.

3. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన అహాబు యూదారాజైన యెహోషాపాతును చూచినీవు నాతోకూడ రామోత్గిలాదునకు వచ్చెదవా అని అడుగగా యెహోషాపాతునేను నీవాడను, నా జనులు నీ జనులు, మేము నీతో కూడ యుధ్దమునకు వచ్చెద మని చెప్పెను.

3. And Ahab king of Israel said to Jehosaphat king of Juda: wilt thou go with me to Ramoth in Gilead? And he answered him, I will be as thou, and my people shall be as thine and we will be with thee in the war.

4. మరియు యెహోషాపాతు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుతోనేడు యెహోవాయొద్ద సంగతి విచారణ చేయుదము రండనగా

4. But Jehosaphat said unto the king of Israel: ask I pray thee the word of the LORD.

5. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు నాలుగువందల మంది ప్రవక్తలను సమకూర్చినేను రామోత్గిలాదుమీదికి యుద్ధమునకు పోవుదునా మానుదునా అని వారి నడిగెను. అందుకువారుపొమ్ము, దేవుడు రాజు చేతికి దానినప్పగించు నని చెప్పిరి.

5. And the king of Israel gathered together of the Prophets four hundredth men, and said unto them: shall we go to Ramoth in Gilead to fight, or shall I cease? And they said, go: the Lord(God) shall deliver it into the king's hand.

6. అయితే యెహోషాపాతుమనము అడిగి విచారణ చేయుటకై వీరు తప్ప యెహోవా ప్రవక్తలలో ఒకడైనను ఇచ్చట లేడా? అని యడుగగా

6. And Jehosaphat said, is there yet here never a Prophet more of the LORD's, that we might ask of him?

7. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుయెహోవా యొద్ద విచారణచేయుటకు ఇవ్లూ కుమా రుడైన మీకాయా అను ఒకడు ఇచ్చట ఉన్నాడు; అయితే అతడు నన్నుగూర్చి మేలు ప్రవచింపక నిత్యము కీడునే ప్రవచించుచున్నాడు గనుక నేను వానియందు పగ గలిగియున్నాననగా యెహోషాపాతురాజు ఆలా గనవద్దనెను.

7. And the king of Israel said to Jehosaphat, there is yet one, to ask the LORD by him: But I hate him, for he never prophesieth me good, but alway evil, one Micheah the son of Jemla. And Jehosaphat said: let not the king say so.

8. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు తన పరివార ములోనున్న యొకని పిలిపించిఇవ్లూ కుమారుడైన మీకా యాను శీఘ్రముగా రప్పించుమని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

8. Then the king of Israel called one of his chamberlains and said: fetch hither quickly Micheah the son of Jemla.

9. ఇశ్రా యేలు రాజును యూదారాజగు యెహోషాపాతును షోమ్రోను ఊరు గవిని ముందరి బయలునందు తమ తమ వస్త్రములను ధరించుకొని తమ తమ సింహాసనములమీద కూర్చునియుండగా ప్రవక్తలందరును వారి ముందర ప్రవచించుచుండిరి.

9. And the king of Israel and Jehosaphat king of Juda sat either of them on his seat in their apparel, in a threshing floor beside the gate of Samaria, and all the Prophets prophesying before them.

10. అప్పుడు కెనయనా కుమారుడైన సిద్కియా యినుపకొమ్ములు చేయించుకొనివచ్చిసిరియనులు నిర్మూల మగు వరకు వీటితో వారిని నీవు పొడిచెదవని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని ప్రకటించెను.

10. And one Zedekiah the son of Chananah made him horns of iron and said, thus sayeth the LORD: with these thou shalt winnow Siria until thou hast brought them to naught.

11. ప్రవక్తలందరును ఆ ప్రకారముగానే ప్రవచించుచుయెహోవా రామోత్గిలాదును రాజు చేతికి అప్పగించును, దానిమీదికిపోయి జయమొందుము అనిరి.

11. And all the Prophets prophesied even so saying: Go up to Ramoth in Gilead and prosper, for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

12. మీకాయాను పిలుచుటకు పోయిన దూత అతని కనుగొనిప్రవక్తలు రాజు విషయమై యేక ముఖముగా మేలునే పలుకుచున్నారు, దయచేసి నీమాటను వారి మాటలకు అనుకూలపరచి మేలునే ప్రవచింపుమనగా

12. And the messenger that went to call Micheah, spake to him saying: behold, the words of the Prophets are pleasant to the king with one assent, let thy words I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak that which is pleasant.

13. మీకాయాయెహోవా జీవముతోడు నా దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చునదేదో దానినే ప్రవచింతునని చెప్పెను.

13. And Micheah said: as truly as the LORD liveth, even what my God sayeth, that will I speak.

14. అతడు రాజునొద్దకు రాగా రాజు అతని చూచిమీకాయా, యుద్ధమునకు రామోత్గిలాదునకు మేము పోవుదుమా, మానుదుమా అని యడుగగా అతడుపోయి జయించుడి, వారు మీ చేతికి అప్పగింపబడుదురనెను.

14. And when he was come to the king, the king said to him: Micheah, shall we go to Ramoth in Gilead to fight, or shall I be in rest? And he answered: go ye and prosper, for the Lord(God) shall deliver it into your hands.

15. అప్పుడు రాజుయెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి అబద్ధముకాక సత్యమే పలుకుమని నేను ఎన్ని మారులు నీచేత ఒట్టు పెట్టించుకొందునని అతనితో అనగా

15. But the king said to him: how often times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but truth to me, in the name of the LORD.

16. అతడుకాపరిలేని గొఱ్ఱెలవలెనే ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరును పర్వతములమీద చెదరిపోవుట చూచితిని; వీరికి యజమానుడు లేడనియు, వీరిలో ప్రతివాడు తన తన యింటికి సమాధానముగా పోవలెననియు యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చియున్నాడనెను.

16. Then he said: I see all Israel scattered in the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the LORD said: these have no master, let them return every man to his house in peace.

17. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు ఇది విని యెహోషాపాతుతో ఇట్లనెనుఇతడు కీడునేగాని నా విషయమై మేలును ప్రవచింపడని నేను నీతో చెప్పలేదా అని యనగా

17. Then said the king of Israel to Jehosaphat, did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?

18. మీకాయాయెహోవా మాట వినుడి, యెహోవా తన సింహాసనముమీద ఆసీనుడైయుండుటయు, పరమండల సైన్యమంతయు ఆయన కుడిప్రక్కను ఎడమప్రక్కను నిలువబడుటయు నేను చూచితిని.

18. And he answered: therefore hear ye the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sit upon his seat, and all the company of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

19. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన అహాబు రామోత్గిలాదుమీదికి పోయి పడిపోవునట్లు ఎవడు అతని ప్రేరే పించునని యెహోవా అడుగగా, ఒకడు ఈ విధముగాను ఇంకొకడు ఆ విధముగాను ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చిరి.

19. And the LORD said: who shall deceive Ahab king of Israel, that he may go and be overthrown at Ramoth in Gilead. And while one said thus and another that,

20. అప్పుడు ఒక ఆత్మవచ్చి యెహోవాయెదుట నిలువబడినేను అతని ప్రేరేపించెదనని చెప్పగా యెహోవాదేనిచేతనని అతని నడిగెను.

20. there came out a spirit and stood before the LORD and said: I will deceive him. And the LORD said to him, how?

21. అందుకు ఆ యాత్మనేను బయలుదేరి అతని ప్రవక్తలందరి నోటను అబద్ధములాడు ఆత్మగా ఉందునని చెప్పగా యెహోవా నీవు అతనిని ప్రేరేపించి జయింతువు, పోయి ఆ ప్రకారముగా చేయుమని సెలవిచ్చెను.

21. And he said: I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets. And the LORD said, thou shalt deceive him and shalt prevail, go out and do even so.

22. యెహోవా నీ ప్రవక్తలగు వీరినోట అబద్ధములాడు ఆత్మను ఉంచియున్నాడు, యెహోవా నీమీద కీడు పలికించి యున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

22. And now behold the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these thy prophets, and yet the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.

23. అప్పుడు కెనయనా కుమారుడైన సిద్కియా దగ్గరకు వచ్చి మీకాయాను చెంపమీద కొట్టినీతో మాటలాడుటకు యెహోవా ఆత్మ నాయొద్దనుండి ఏ మార్గమున పోయె ననెను.

23. And Zedekiah the son of Chananah, went to and smote Micheah upon the cheek, and said: by what way went the spirit of the LORD from me, to speak in thee?

24. అందుకు మీకాయాదాగుటకై నీవు లోపలి గదిలోనికి వెళ్లు దినమున దాని తెలిసికొందువని చెప్పెను.

24. And Micheah said: thou shalt see the day when thou shalt run from chamber to chamber, for to hide thyself.

25. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుపట్టణపు అధిపతియైన ఆమోనునొద్దకును రాజు కుమారుడైన యోవాషునొద్దకునుమీరు మీకాయాను తీసికొని పోయి వారితో రాజు మీకిచ్చిన సెలవు ఇదియే యనుడి,

25. Then said the king of Israel, take ye Micheah and deliver him to Amon the governor of city, and to Joas the king's son

26. నేను సురక్షితముగా తిరిగి వచ్చువరకు వీనిని చెరలోపెట్టి క్లేషాన్నపానములు ఇయ్యుడి.

26. and say, thus sayeth the king: put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread and water of tribulation, until I come again in peace.

27. అప్పుడు మీకాయా యిట్లనెనునీవు సురక్షితముగా తిరిగి వచ్చిన యెడల యెహోవా నా ద్వారా పలుకనే లేదనిచెప్పి, సమస్తజనులారా ఆల కించుడనెను.

27. And Micheah said: if thou come again in peace, then hath not the LORD spoken in me. And Micheah said moreover, hearken to ye people every one of you.

28. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలురాజును యూదారాజైన యెహోషాపాతును రామోత్గిలాదుమీదికి పోయిరి.

28. And so the king of Israel and Jehosaphat went up to Ramoth in Gilead.

29. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజునేను మారువేషమువేసికొని యుద్ధము నకు పోవుదును, నీవు నీ వస్త్రములనే ధరించుకొనుమని యెహోషాపాతుతో చెప్పి తాను మారువేషము వేసికొనెను, తరువాత వారు యుద్ధమునకు పోయిరి.

29. Then said the king of Israel to Jehosaphat: change thee and get thee to battle, but see thou have thine own apparel upon thee. And the king of Israel changed himself, and they went to battle.

30. సిరియా రాజుమీరు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుతోనే యుద్ధము చేయుడి, అధములతోనైనను అధికులతో నైనను చేయవద్దని తనతో కూడనున్న తన రథాధిపతులకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చియుండెను.

30. But the king of Siria commanded the captains of his chariots saying: see that ye fight not against small or great, save against the king of Israel onely.

31. కాగా యెహోషాపాతు కనబడుటతోనే రథాధిపతులు అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజనుకొని యుద్ధము చేయుటకు అతని చుట్టుకొనిరి, గాని యెహోషాపాతు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టినందున యెహోవా అతనికి సహాయము చేసెను, దేవుడు అతని యొద్దనుండి వారు తొలగిపోవునట్లు చేసెను.

31. And when the captains of the chariots saw Jehosaphat, they had wente he had been the king of Israel, and therefore compassed about him, to fight. But Jehosaphat cried out, and the LORD holp him, and God tysed them away from him.

32. ఎట్లనగా రథాధిపతులు అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుకాడని తెలిసికొని అతని తరుముట మాని తిరిగిపోయిరి.

32. For when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from him.

33. అప్పుడు ఒకడు గురిచూడకయే తన వింటిని ఎక్కుబెట్టి, ఇశ్రాయేలురాజును అతని కవచపు బందులసందున కొట్టగా అతడునాకు గాయము తగిలినది, నీ చెయ్యి త్రిప్పి దండులోనుండి నన్ను కొనిపొమ్మని తన సారధితో అనెను.

33. And a certain man drew his bow ignorantly and smote the king of Israel between the Joints of his habergeon. And he said to the chariot man, turn thine hand and carry me out of the host, for I am hurt.

34. ఆ దినమున యుద్ధము ప్రబలమాయెను; అయినను ఇశ్రా యేలురాజు అస్తమయమువరకు సిరియనులకెదురుగా తన రథమునందు నిలిచెను, ప్రొద్దుగ్రుంకువేళ అతడు చనిపోయెను.

34. And the battle arose that day. Howbeit the king of Israel continued standing in his chariot against the Sirians until evening. And about the son going down he died.
