1. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకును కనానీయులకును జరిగినయుద్ధము లన్నిటిని చూడనివారందరిని శోధించి

1. Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Yisra'el by them, even as many of Yisra'el as had not known all the wars of Kana`an;

2. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల తరతరములవారికి, అనగా పూర్వము ఆ యుద్ధములను ఏ మాత్రమును చూడనివారికి యుద్ధముచేయ నేర్పునట్లు యెహోవా ఉండనిచ్చిన జనములు ఇవి.

2. only that the generations of the children of Yisra'el might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing of it:

3. ఫిలిష్తీయుల అయిదుగురు సర్దారుల జనులును, కనానీయులందరును, సీదోనీయులును, బయల్హెర్మోను మొదలుకొని హమాతునకు పోవు మార్గమువరకు లెబానోను కొండలో నివసించు హివ్వీయులును,

3. namely, the five lords of the Pelishtim, and all the Kana`anim, and the Tzidonim, and the Hivvi who lived on Mount Levanon, from Mount Ba`al-Hermon to the entrance of Hamat.

4. యెహోవా మోషేద్వారా తమ తండ్రుల కిచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞలను వారు అనుసరింతురో లేదో తెలిసికొను నట్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను పరిశోధించుటకై ఆ జనములను ఉండనిచ్చెను.

4. They were left, to prove Yisra'el by them, to know whether they would listen to the mitzvot of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by Moshe.

5. కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు, కనానీయులు హిత్తీయులు అమోరీయులు

5. The children of Yisra'el lived among the Kana`anim, the Hitti, and the Amori, and the Perizzi, and the Hivvi, and the Yevusi:

6. పెరిజ్జీ యులు హివ్వీయులు ఎబూసీయులను జనులమధ్య నివసించుచు వారి కుమార్తె లను పెండ్లిచేసికొనుచు, వారి కుమారులకు తమ కుమార్తెల నిచ్చుచు, వారి దేవతలను పూజించుచు వచ్చిరి

6. and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.

7. అట్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని దోషులై, తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మరచి బయలుదేవతలను దేవతా స్తంభములను పూజించిరి.

7. The children of Yisra'el did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgot the LORD their God, and served the Ba`alim and the Asherot.

8. అందునుగూర్చి యెహోవా కోపము ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద మండగా ఆయన అరా మ్నహరాయిముయొక్క రాజైన కూషన్రిషాతాయిము చేతులకు దాసులగుటకై వారిని అమ్మివేసెను. ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులు ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరములు కూషన్రిషాతాయిమునకు దాసులుగానుండిరి

8. Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Yisra'el, and he sold them into the hand of Kushan-Rish`atayim king of Aram-Naharayim: and the children of Yisra'el served Kushan-Rish`atayim eight years.

9. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టగా యెహోవా కాలేబు తమ్ముడైన కనజు యొక్క కుమారుడగు ఒత్నీయేలును రక్షకునిగా ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకొరకు నియమించి వారిని రక్షించెను.

9. When the children of Yisra'el cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a savior to the children of Yisra'el, who saved them, even `Otni'el the son of Kenaz, Kalev's younger brother.

10. యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతని మీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయాధిపతియై యుద్ధమునకు బయలుదేరగా యెహోవా అరామ్నహరాయిము రాజైన కూషన్రిషాతాయిమును అతని చేతికప్పగించెను, ఆతడు కూషన్రిషాతాయిమును జయించెను.

10. The Spirit of the LORD came on him, and he judged Yisra'el; and he went out to war, and the LORD delivered Kushan-Rish`atayim king of Aram-Naharayim into his hand: and his hand prevailed against Kushan-Rish`atayim.

11. అప్పుడు నలువది సంవత్సరములు దేశము నెమ్మదిపొందెను. అటుతరువాత కనజు కుమారుడైన ఒత్నీయేలు మృతినొందెను.

11. The land had rest forty years. `Otni'el the son of Kenaz died.

12. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మరల యెహోవా దృష్టికి దోషు లైరి గనుక వారు యెహోవా దృష్టికి దోషులైనందున యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో యుద్ధముచేయుటకు మోయాబు రాజైన ఎగ్లోనును బలపరచెను.

12. The children of Yisra'el again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened `Eglon the king of Mo'av against Yisra'el, because they had done that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

13. అతడు అమ్మోనీయులను అమాలేకీయులను సమకూర్చుకొనిపోయి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను ఓడగొట్టి ఖర్జూరచెట్ల పట్టణమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొనెను.

13. He gathered to him the children of `Ammon and `Amalek; and he went and struck Yisra'el, and they possessed the city of palm trees.

14. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు పదునెనిమిది సంవత్సరములు మోయాబు రాజునకు దాసులైరి.

14. The children of Yisra'el served `Eglon the king of Mo'av eighteen years.

15. ఇశ్రా యేలీయులు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱ పెట్టగా బెన్యామీ నీయుడైన గెరా కుమారుడగు ఏహూదను రక్షకుని వారి కొరకు యెహోవా నియమించెను. అతడు ఎడమచేతి పని వాడు. అతనిచేతను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మోయాబు రాజైన ఎగ్లోనుకు కప్పము పంపగా

15. But when the children of Yisra'el cried to the LORD, the LORD raised them up a savior, Ehud the son of Gera, the Binyamini, a man left-handed. The children of Yisra'el sent tribute by him to `Eglon the king of Mo'av.

16. ఏహూదు మూరెడు పొడవుగల రెండంచుల కత్తిని చేయించుకొని, తన వస్త్ర ములో తన కుడి తొడమీద

16. Ehud made him a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length; and he girded it under his clothing on his right thigh.

17. దానిని కట్టుకొని, ఆ కప్పము మోయాబురాజైన ఎగ్లో నుకు తెచ్చెను. ఆ ఎగ్లోను బహు స్థూలకాయుడు.

17. He offered the tribute to `Eglon king of Mo'av: now `Eglon was a very fat man.

18. ఏహూదు ఆ కప్పము తెచ్చి యిచ్చిన తరువాత కప్పము మోసిన జనులను వెళ్లనంపి

18. When he had made an end of offering the tribute, he sent away the people who bore the tribute.

19. గిల్గాలు దగ్గర నున్న పెసీలీమునొద్దనుండి తిరిగి వచ్చిరాజా, రహస్యమైన మాట ఒకటి నేను నీతో చెప్పవలె ననగా అతడుతనయొద్ద నిలిచినవారందరు వెలుపలికి పోవు వరకు ఊరకొమ్మని చెప్పెను.

19. But he himself turned back from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand to you, king. He said, Keep silence. All who stood by him went out from him.

20. ఏహూదు అతని దగ్గ రకు వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఒక్కడే చల్లని మేడ గదిలో కూర్చుండియుండెను. ఏహూదునీతో నేను చెప్ప వలసిన దేవునిమాట ఒకటి యున్నదని చెప్పగా అతడు తన పీఠముమీదనుండి లేచెను.

20. Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, I have a message from God to you. He arose out of his seat.

21. అప్పుడు ఏహూదు తన యెడమచేతిని చాపి తన కుడి తొడమీదనుండి ఆ కత్తి తీసి కడుపుమీద అతని పొడిచెను.

21. Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his body:

22. పడియును కత్తివెంబడి దూరగా క్రొవ్వుకత్తిపైని కప్పుకొనినందున అతని కడుపు నుండి కత్తిని తీయలేకపోయెను, అది వెనుకనుండి బయటికి వచ్చి యుండెను.

22. and the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed on the blade, for he didn't draw the sword out of his body; and it came out behind.

23. అప్పుడు ఏహూదు పంచపాళిలోనికి బయలువెళ్లి తన వెనుకను ఆ మేడగది తలుపువేసి గడియ పెట్టెను.

23. Then Ehud went forth into the porch, and shut the doors of the upper room on him, and locked them.

24. అతడు బయలువెళ్లిన తరువాత ఆ రాజు దాసులు లోపలికివచ్చి చూడగా ఆ మేడగది తలుపులు గడియలు వేసియుండెను గనుక వారు అతడు చల్లని గదిలో శంకానివర్తికి పోయియున్నాడనుకొని

24. Now when he was gone out, his servants came; and they saw, and, behold, the doors of the upper room were locked; and they said, Surely he is covering his feet in the upper chamber.

25. తాము సిగ్గువింతలు పడువరకు కనిపెట్టినను అతడు ఆ గది తలుపు లను తీయకపోగా వారు తాళపు చెవిని తెచ్చి తలుపులు తీసి చూచినప్పుడు వారి యజమానుడు చనిపోయి నేలను పడియుండెను.

25. They waited until they were ashamed; and, behold, he didn't open the doors of the upper room: therefore they took the key, and opened them, and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the eretz.

26. వారు తడవు చేయు చుండగా ఏహూదు తప్పించుకొని పెసీలీమును దాటి శెయీరాకు పారి పోయెను.

26. Ehud escaped while they waited, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped to Seirah.

27. అతడు వచ్చి ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల కొండలో బూరను ఊదగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మన్యప్రదేశమునుండి దిగి అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

27. It happened, when he had come, that he blew a shofar in the hill-country of Efrayim; and the children of Yisra'el went down with him from the hill-country, and he before them.

28. అతడు వారికి ముందుగా సాగి వారితోనా వెంబడి త్వరగా రండి; మీ శత్రువు లైన మోయాబీయులను యెహోవా మీ చేతి కప్పగించు చున్నాడనెను. కాబట్టి వారు అతని వెంబడిని దిగివచ్చి మోయాబు నెదుటి యొర్దాను రేవులను పట్టుకొని యెవనిని దాటనియ్యలేదు.

28. He said to them, Follow after me; for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Mo`avim into your hand. They went down after him, and took the fords of the Yarden against the Mo`avim, and didn't allow a man to pass over.

29. ఆ కాలమున వారు మోయాబీయు లలో బలముగల శూరులైన పరాక్రమ శాలులను పదివేల మందిని చంపిరి; ఒకడును తప్పించుకొనలేదు. ఆ దిన మున మోయాబీయులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిక్రింద అణపబడగా దేశము ఎనుబది సంవత్సరములు నిమ్మళముగా ఉండెను.

29. They struck of Mo'av at that time about ten thousand men, every lusty man, and every man of valor; and there escaped not a man.

30. అతనితరువాత అనాతు కుమారుడైన షవ్గురు న్యాయాధి పతిగా ఉండెను. అతడు ఫిలిష్తీయులలో ఆరువందల మందిని మునుకోల కఱ్ఱతో హతముచేసెను;

30. So Mo'av was subdued that day under the hand of Yisra'el. The land had rest eighty years.

31. అతడును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను రక్షించెను.

31. After him was Shamgar the son of `Anat, who struck of the Pelishtim six hundred men with an ox-goad: and he also saved Yisra'el.
