1. ఈ సంగతులైన తరువాత రాజైన అహష్వేరోషు యొక్క ఆగ్రహము చల్లారినప్పుడు అతడు వష్తిని ఆమెచేసినదానిని ఆమెకు నిర్ణయింపబడినదానిని తలంచగా

1. After these things, when the king's feelings were calmer, the thought of Vashti and what she had done and the order he had made against her, came back to his mind.

2. ¸యౌవనులగు రాజు పరిచారకులు ఇట్లనిరి అందమైన కన్యకలను రాజుకొరకు వెదకనగును,

2. Then the servants who were waiting on the king said to him, Let search be made for some fair young virgins for the king:

3. అందునిమిత్తము సౌందర్యవతులైన కన్యకలందరిని సమకూర్చి షూషను కోట అంతఃపురమునకు చేర్చి స్త్రీలకు కాపరియగు రాజుయొక్క నపుంసకుడగు హేగే వశమునకు అప్పగించునట్లు రాజు తన రాజ్యముయొక్క సంస్థానములన్నిటిలో పరిచారకులను నియమించునుగాక. శుద్ధికొరకు సుగంధద్రవ్యములను వారికిచ్చిన తరువాత

3. Let the king give authority to certain men in all the divisions of his kingdom, to get together all the fair young virgins and send them to Shushan, the king's town, to the women's house, under the care of Hegai, the king's servant, the keeper of the women: and let the things needed for making them clean be given to them;

4. రాజు ఆ కన్యకలలో దేనియందు ఇష్టపడునో ఆమె వష్తికి బదులుగా రాణియగును. ఈ మాట రాజునకు అనుకూలమాయెను గనుక అతడు ఆలాగు జరిగించెను.

4. And let the girl who is pleasing to the king be queen in place of Vashti. And the king was pleased with this suggestion; and he did so.

5. షూషను కోటలో బెన్యామీనీయుడగు కీషునకు పుట్టిన షిమీ కుమారుడగు యాయీరు వంశస్థుడైన మొర్దెకై అను ఒక యూదుడుండెను.

5. Now there was a certain Jew in Shushan named Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;

6. బబులోను రాజైన నెబు కద్నెజరు యూదా రాజైన యెకోన్యాను పట్టుకొని పోయినప్పుడు ఇతడు యెకోన్యాతోకూడ యెరూషలేము నుండి చెరపట్టబడినవారిలో ఒకడు.

6. Who had been taken away from Jerusalem among those who had been made prisoner with Jeconiah, king of Judah, when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had taken him away.

7. తన పినతండ్రి కుమార్తెయైన హదస్సా అను ఎస్తేరు తలితండ్రులు లేనిదై యుండగా అతడామెను పెంచుకొనెను. ఆమె అందమైన రూపమును సుందర ముఖమునుగలదై యుండెను. ఆమె తలిదండ్రులు మరణము పొందిన తరువాత మొర్దెకై ఆమెను తన కుమార్తెగా స్వీకరించెను.

7. And he had been a father to Hadassah, that is Esther, the daughter of his father's brother: for she had no father or mother, and she was very beautiful; and when her father and mother were dead, Mordecai took her for his daughter.

8. రాజాజ్ఞయు అతని నిర్ణయమును ప్రచురముచేయబడి కన్యకలు అనేకులు షూషను కోటకు పోగుచేయబడి హేగే వశమునకు అప్ప గింప బడగా, ఎస్తేరును రాజుయొక్క నగరునకు తేబడి, స్త్రీలను కాయు హేగేవశమునకు అప్పగింపబడెను.

8. So when the order made by the king was publicly given out, and a number of girls had been placed in the care of Hegai in the king's house in Shushan, Esther was taken into the king's house and put in the care of Hegai, the keeper of the women.

9. ఆ చిన్నది అతని దృష్టికి ఇంపైనది గనుక ఆమె అతనివలన దయపొందెను; కాబట్టి ఆమె పరిమళ క్రియలకొరకైన వస్తువులను ఆమెకు కావలసిన భోజనపదార్థములను, రాజు ఇంటిలోనుండి ఆమెకు ఇయ్యదగిన యేడుగురు ఆడుపిల్ల లను అతడు ఆమెకు త్వరగా ఏర్పరచి ఆమెను ఆమె చెలికత్తెలను అంతఃపురములో అతి శ్రేష్ఠమైన స్థలమందుంచెను.

9. And he was pleased with the girl and was kind to her; and he quickly gave her what was needed for making her clean, and the things which were hers by right, and seven servant-girls who were to be hers from the king's house: and he had her and her servant-girls moved to the best place in the women's part of the house.

10. మొర్దెకై - నీ జాతిని నీ వంశమును కనుపరచ కూడదని ఎస్తేరునకు ఆజ్ఞాపించియుండెను గనుక ఆమె తెలుపలేదు.

10. Esther had not said what family or people she came from, for Mordecai had given her orders not to do so.

11. ఎస్తేరు ఏలాగుండెనో అదియు, ఆమెకేమి సంభవించునో అదియు తెలిసికొనుటకై అంతఃపురము యొక్క ఆవరణము ఎదుట ప్రతిదినము మొర్దెకై తిరుగులాడు చుండెను.

11. And every day Mordecai took his walk before the square of the women's house, to see how Esther was and what would be done to her.

12. ఆరుమాసములు గోపరస తైలముతోను, ఆరు మాసములు సుగంధవర్గములతోను, స్త్రీల పరిమళ క్రియలకొరకైన మరి వేరు పదార్థములతోను స్త్రీలు పరిమళ క్రియలు ముగించి రాజునొద్దకు పోవువారు పండ్రెండు మాసములైన తరువాత రాజైన అహష్వేరోషు నొద్దకు వెళ్లుటకు ఒక్కొక్క చిన్నదానికి వంతు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఒక్కొక చిన్నది రాజునొద్దకు ఆ విధముగా పోవుచుండెను, ఏమనగా ఆ తీరున వారు పరిమళ క్రియలు చేయుకాలము సంపూర్ణమగు చుండెను.

12. Now every girl, when her turn came, had to go in to King Ahasuerus, after undergoing, for a space of twelve months, what was ordered by the law for the women (for this was the time necessary for making them clean, that is, six months with oil of myrrh and six months with sweet perfumes and such things as are needed for making women clean):

13. మరియు అంతఃపురములోనుండి రాజు ఇంటిలోనికి వెళ్లవలసిన సమయమందు ఆమె యేమేమి కోరునో అది అట్టి స్త్రీకి ఇయ్యబడుటకద్దు.

13. And in this way the girl went in to the king; whatever she had a desire for was given to her to take with her from the women's house into the house of the king.

14. సాయంత్రమందు ఆమె లోపలికి వెళ్లి మరుదినము ఉపపత్నులను కాయు రాజుయొక్క షండుడైన షయష్గజు అను అతని వశములోనున్న రెండవ అంతః పురమునకు తిరిగివచ్చును. ఆమెయందు రాజు సంతోషించి ఆమెను పేరుపెట్టి పిలిచితేనే గాని ఆమె రాజునొద్దకు మరల వెళ్లకుండెను.

14. In the evening she went, and on the day after she came back to the second house of the women, into the keeping of Shaashgaz, one of the king's unsexed servants who had the care of the king's wives: only if the king had delight in her and sent for her by name did she go in to him again.

15. మొర్దెకై తన కుమార్తెగా స్వీకరించుకొనిన తన పినతండ్రియైన అబీహాయిలు కుమార్తెయగు ఎస్తేరు రాజునొద్దకు వెళ్లుటకు వంతు వచ్చినప్పుడు స్త్రీలను కాయు రాజుయొక్క షండుడైన హేగే నిర్ణయించిన అలంకారముగాక ఆమె మరి ఏమియు కోరలేదు. ఎస్తేరును చూచిన వారందరికి ఆమెయందు దయపుట్టెను.

15. Now when the time came for Esther, the daughter of Abihail, his father's brother, whom Mordecai had taken as his daughter, to go in to the king, she made request for nothing but what Hegai, the king's servant and keeper of the women, had given her. And Esther was looked on kindly by all who saw her.

16. ఈ ప్రకారము ఎస్తేరు రాజైన అహష్వేరోషు ఏలుబడియందు ఏడవ సంవత్సరమున టెబేతు అను పదియవ నెలలో రాజ నగరులోనికి అతనియొద్దకు పోగా

16. So Esther was taken in to King Ahasuerus in his house in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his rule.

17. స్త్రీలందరికంటె రాజు ఎస్తేరును ప్రేమించెను, కన్యలందరికంటె ఆమె అతనివలన దయాదాక్షిణ్యములు పొందెను. అతడు రాజ్యకిరీటమును ఆమె తలమీద ఉంచి ఆమెను వష్తికి బదులుగా రాణిగా నియమించెను.

17. And Esther was more pleasing to the king than all the women, and to his eyes she was fairer and more full of grace than all the other virgins: so he put his crown on her head and made her queen in place of Vashti.

18. అప్పుడు రాజు తన అధిపతులకందరికిని సేవకులకందరికిని ఎస్తేరు విషయమై యొక గొప్పవిందు చేయించి, సంస్థానములలో సెలవుదినము ప్రకటించి రాజు స్థితికి తగినట్టుగా బహుమతులు ఇప్పించెను.

18. Then the king gave a great feast for all his captains and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he gave orders through all the divisions of his kingdom for a day of rest from work, and gave wealth from his store.

19. రెండవమారు కన్యకలు కూర్చబడినప్పుడు మొర్దెకై రాజు గుమ్మములో కూర్చుని యుండెను.

19. And when the virgins came together in the second house of the women, Mordecai took his seat in the doorway of the king's house.

20. ఎస్తేరు మొర్దెకైయొక్క పోషణ మందున్న కాలమున చేసినట్టుగానే ఇప్పుడును అతని మాటకు ఆమె లోబడుచుండెను గనుక మొర్దెకై తనకు ఆజ్ఞాపించిన ప్రకారము ఎస్తేరు తన జాతినైనను తన వంశము నైనను తెలియజేయకయుండెను.

20. Esther had still said nothing of her family or her people, as Mordecai had given her orders; for Esther did what Mordecai said, as when she was living with him.

21. ఆ దినములలో మొర్దెకై రాజు గుమ్మములో కూర్చుని యుండగా రాజుయొక్క యిద్దరు షండులైన బిగ్తాను తెరెషు అను ద్వారపాలకులు కోపగ్రస్తులై రాజైన అహష్వేరోషును చంపుటకు ఆలోచించుకొని యుండిరి.

21. In those days, while Mordecai was seated at the king's doorway, two of the king's servants, Bigthan and Teresh, keepers of the door, being angry, were looking for a chance to make an attack on King Ahasuerus.

22. ఈ సంగతి మొర్దెకైకి తెలియబడి నందున అతడు దానిని రాణియైన ఎస్తేరుతో చెప్పెను. ఎస్తేరు మొర్దెకైయొక్క పేరట రాజునకు దాని తెలియ జేసెను.

22. And Mordecai, having knowledge of their purpose, sent word of it to Esther the queen; and Esther gave the news to the king in Mordecai's name.

23. ఈ సంగతినిగూర్చి విచారణకాగా అది నిజమాయెను. అందుచేత వారిద్దరును ఒక చెట్టుకు ఉరి తీయింపబడిరి. ఇది రాజు ఎదుటనే రాజ్యసమాచార గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడెను.

23. And when the thing had been looked into, it was seen to be true, and the two of them were put to death by hanging on a tree: and it was put down in the records before the king.
