1. యెహూ యేలుబడిలో ఏడవ సంవత్సరమందుయోవాషు ఏలనారంభించి యెరూషలేములో నలువది సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను. అతని తల్లి బెయేర్షెబా సంబంధు రాలైన జిబ్యా.

1. Joash began to rule during Jehu's seventh year as king of Israel. Joash ruled 40 years in Jerusalem. His mother was named Zibiah of Beersheba.

2. యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా తనకు బుద్ధినేర్పువాడై యుండు దినములన్నిటిలో యోవాషు యెహోవా దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగానే ప్రవర్తించెను.

2. Joash did what the Lord said was right. He obeyed the Lord all his life. He did what Jehoiada the priest taught him,

3. అయితే ఉన్నత స్థలములు కొట్టివేయబడక నిలిచెను; జనులు ఇంకను ఉన్నత స్థలములందు బలులు అర్పించుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండిరి.

3. but he did not destroy the high places. The people still made sacrifices and burned incense at those places of worship.

4. యోవాషు యాజకులను పిలిపించియెహోవా మంది రములోనికి తేబడు ప్రతిష్ఠిత వస్తువుల విలువను అనగా జనసంఖ్య దాఖలాచేయబడిన జనులు తెచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమును వంతుచొప్పున ప్రతి మనిషికి నిర్ణయమైన ద్రవ్యమును, స్వేచ్ఛచేత నెవరైనను యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి తెచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమును,

4. Joash said to the priests, 'There is much money in the Lord's Temple. People have given things to the Temple and have paid the Temple tax when they were counted. And they have given money simply because they wanted to. You priests should take that money and repair the Lord's Temple. Each priest should use the money he gets from the people he serves. He should use that money to repair the damage to the Temple.'

5. యాజకులలో ఒక్కొక్కడు తనకు నెలవైన వారియొద్ద తీసికొని, మందిరము ఎచ్చటెచ్చట శిథిలమై యున్నదో అచ్చటనెల్ల దానిని బాగుచేయింపవలెనని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

6. అయితే యోవాషు ఏలుబడిలో ఇరువది మూడవ సంవత్సరమువరకును యాజకులు మందిరము యొక్క శిథిలమైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయకయే యుండిరి గనుక

6. In the 23 year that Joash was king, the priests still had not repaired the Temple,

7. యోవాషు యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదాను మిగి లిన యాజకులను పిలిపించిమందిరములో శిథిలమైన స్థలములను మీరెందుకు బాగుచేయక పోతిరి? ఇకను మీ మీ నెలవైన వారియొద్ద ద్రవ్యము తీసికొనక, మందిరములో శిథిలమైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయుటకై మీరు అంతకుముందు తీసికొనినదాని నప్పగించుడని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి యుండెను.

7. so King Joash called for Jehoiada the priest and the other priests. Joash said to them, 'Why haven't you repaired the Temple? Stop taking money from the people you serve. That money must be used to repair the Temple.'

8. కాబట్టి యాజకులుమందిరములో శిథిల మైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయుట మా వశము లేదు గనుక జనులయొద్ద ద్రవ్యము ఇక తీసికొనమని చెప్పిరి.

8. The priests agreed to stop taking money from the people, but they also decided not to repair the Temple.

9. అంతట యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా ఒక పెట్టెను తెచ్చి దాని మూతకు బెజ్జము చేసి, బలిపీఠము దగ్గరగా యెహోవా మందిరములో ప్రవేశించు వారి కుడిపార్శ్వమందు దాని నుంచగా ద్వారముకాయు యాజకులు యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి వచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమంతయు అందులో వేసిరి.

9. So Jehoiada the priest took a box and made a hole in the top of it. Then Jehoiada put the box on the south side of the altar. This box was by the door where people came into the Lord's Temple. Some of the priests guarded the doorway of the Temple. They took the money people had given to the Lord, and they put that money into that box.

10. పెట్టెలో ద్రవ్యము విస్తారముగా ఉన్నదని వారు తెలియ జేయగా రాజుయొక్క ప్రధాన మంత్రియును ప్రధాన యాజకుడును వచ్చి, యెహోవా మందిరమందు దొరికిన ద్రవ్యము లెక్కచూచి సంచులలో ఉంచిరి.

10. Whenever the king's secretary and the high priest saw there was a lot of money in the box, they came and took the money from the box. They put the money in bags and counted it.

11. తరువాత వారు ఆ ద్రవ్యమును తూచి యెహోవా మందిరపు కాపరులకు, అనగా పనిచేయించు వారి కప్పగించిరి; వీరు యెహోవా మందిరమందు పనిచేసిన కంసాలులకును శిల్ప కారులకును కాసెపనివారికిని రాతిపనివారికిని

11. Then they paid the workers who worked on the Lord's Temple. They paid the carpenters and other builders who worked on the Temple.

12. యెహోవా మందిరమందు శిథిలమైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయుటకు మ్రానులనేమి చెక్క బడిన రాళ్లనేమి కొనుటకును, మందిరము బాగుచేయుటలో అయిన ఖర్చు అంతటికిని, ఆ ద్రవ్యము ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి.

12. They used that money to pay the stoneworkers and stonecutters, and they used it to buy timber, cut stone, and everything else to repair the Lord's Temple.

13. యెహోవా మందిరమునకు వెండి పాత్రలైనను, కత్తెరలైనను, గిన్నెలైనను, బాకాలైనను, బంగారు పాత్రలైనను, వెండిపాత్రలైనను చేయబడలేదు గాని

13. People gave money for the Lord's Temple, but the priests could not use that money to make silver cups, snuffers, basins, trumpets, or any gold and silver dishes. That money was used to pay the workers who repaired the Lord's Temple.

14. మరమ్మతు పనిచేయువారికి మాత్రము ఆ ద్రవ్యము ఇచ్చి యెహోవా మందిరమును మరల బాగు చేయించిరి.

15. మరియు పనివారికిచ్చుటకై ఆ ద్రవ్యము అప్పగింత పెట్టుకొనినవారు నమ్మకస్థులని వారిచేత లెక్క అడుగలేదు.

15. No one counted all the money or forced the workers to tell what happened to the money, because those workers could be trusted.

16. అపరాధ పరిహారార్థ బలులవలనను పాప పరిహారార్థ బలులవలనను దొరికిన సొమ్ము యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి తేబడలేదు, అది యాజకులదాయెను.

16. People gave money when they offered guilt offerings and sin offerings, but that money was not used to pay the workers. It belonged to the priests.

17. అంతట సిరియారాజైన హజాయేలు గాతు పట్టణము మీదికి పోయి యుద్ధముచేసి దాని పట్టుకొనిన తరువాత అతడు యెరూషలేముమీదికి రాదలచియుండగా

17. Hazael was the king of Aram. He went to fight against the city of Gath and defeated it. Then he made plans to go fight against Jerusalem.

18. యూదారాజైన యోవాషు తన పితరులైన యెహోషా పాతు యెహోరాము అహజ్యా అను యూదారాజులు ప్రతిష్ఠించిన వస్తువులన్నిటిని, తాను ప్రతిష్ఠించిన వస్తువులను, యెహోవా మందిరములోను రాజనగరులోనున్న పదార్థములలోను కనబడిన బంగారమంతయు తీసికొనిసిరియారాజైన హజాయేలునకు పంపగా అతడు యెరూష లేమునొద్దనుండి తిరిగిపోయెను.

18. Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah had been kings of Judah. They were Joash's ancestors. They had given many things to the Lord that were kept in the Temple. Joash also had given many things to the Lord. He took all these things and all the gold that was in the Temple and in his palace. Then Joash sent all these expensive things to King Hazael of Aram.

19. యోవాషు చేసిన యితర కార్యములనుగూర్చియు అతడు చేసిన దానినంతటిని గూర్చియు యూదారాజుల వృత్తాంతముల గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడి యున్నది.

19. All the great things that Joash did are written in the book, The History of the Kings of Judah.

20. అతని సేవకులు లేచి కుట్రచేసి సిల్లా అను చోటకి పోవుమార్గమందున్న మిల్లో అను నగరునందు యోవాషును చంపిరి.

20. Joash's officers made plans against him. They killed Joash at the house of Millo on the road that goes down to Silla.

21. ఎట్లనగా షిమాతు కుమారుడైన యోజాకారు షోమేరు కుమారుడైన యెహోజాబాదు అను అతని సేవకులును అతనిమీద పడగా అతడు మరణమాయెను. జనులు దావీదు పురమందు అతని పితరుల సమాధిలో అతనిని పాతిపెట్టిరి; అతని కుమారుడైన అహజ్యా అతనికి మారుగా రాజాయెను.

21. Jozabad son of Shimeath and Jehozabad son of Shomer were Joash's officers. These men killed Joash. The people buried Joash with his ancestors in the City of David. His son Amaziah became the new king after him.
