1. నా కుమారుడా, నీ చెలికానికొరకు పూటపడిన యెడల పరునిచేతిలో నీవు నీ చేయి వేసినయెడల

1. [My] son, if you become surety for your friend, you shall deliver your hand to an enemy.

2. నీ నోటి మాటలవలన నీవు చిక్కుబడియున్నావు నీ నోటి మాటలవలన పట్టబడియున్నావు

2. For a man's own lips become a strong snare to him, and he is caught with the lips of his own mouth.

3. నా కుమారుడా, నీ చెలికానిచేత చిక్కుబడితివి. నీవు త్వరపడి వెళ్లి విడిచిపెట్టుమని నీ చెలికానిని బలవంతము చేయుము.

3. [My] son, do what I command you, and deliver yourself; for on your friend's account you have come into the power of evil men: faint not, but stir up even your friend for whom you have become surety.

4. ఈలాగు చేసి తప్పించుకొనుము నీ కన్నులకు నిద్రయైనను నీ కనురెప్పలకు కునుకుపాటైనను రానియ్యకుము.

4. Give not sleep to your eyes, nor slumber with your eyelids;

5. వేటకాని చేతినుండి లేడి తప్పించుకొనునట్లును ఎరుకువాని చేతినుండి పక్షి తప్పించుకొనునట్లును తప్పించుకొనుము.

5. that you may deliver yourself as a doe out of the toils, and as a bird out of a snare.

6. సోమరీ, చీమలయొద్దకు వెళ్లుము వాటి నడతలు కనిపెట్టి జ్ఞానము తెచ్చుకొనుము.

6. Go to the ant, O sluggard; and see, and emulate his ways, and become wiser than he.

7. వాటికి న్యాయాధిపతి లేకున్నను పై విచారణకర్త లేకున్నను అధిపతి లేకున్నను

7. For whereas he has no leader, nor anyone to compel him, and is under no master,

8. అవి వేసవికాలమందు ఆహారము సిద్ధపరచుకొనును కోతకాలమందు ధాన్యము కూర్చుకొనును.

8. he prepares food for himself in the summer, and lays up abundant supplies in harvest. [ 6:8A] Or go to the bee, and learn how diligent she is, and how earnestly she is engaged in her work; [ 6:8B] whose labors kings and private men use for health, and she is desired and respected by all: [ 6:8C] though weak in body, she is advanced by honoring wisdom.

9. సోమరీ, ఎందాక నీవు పండుకొనియుందువు? ఎప్పుడు నిద్రలేచెదవు?

9. How long will you lie, O sluggard? And when will you awake out of sleep?

10. ఇక కొంచెము నిద్రించెదనని కొంచెము కునికెదనని కొంచెముసేపు చేతులు ముడుచుకొని పరుండెదనని నీవనుచుందువు

10. You sleep a little, and you rest a little, and you slumber a short time, and you fold your arms over your breast a little.

11. అందుచేత దోపిడిగాడు వచ్చునట్లు దారిద్ర్యము నీయొద్దకు వచ్చును. ఆయుధధారుడు వచ్చునట్లు లేమి నీయొద్దకు వచ్చును.

11. Then poverty comes upon you as an evil traveler, and your need as a swift courier. [ 6:11A] But if you be diligent, your harvest shall arrive as a fountain, and poverty shall flee away as a bad courier.

12. కుటిలమైన మాటలు పలుకువాడు పనికిమాలినవాడును దుష్టుడునై యున్నాడు

12. A foolish man and a transgressor goes in ways that are not good.

13. వాడు కన్ను గీటుచు కాళ్లతో సైగచేయును వ్రేళ్లతో గురుతులు చూపును.

13. And the same winks with the eye, and makes a sign with his foot, and teaches with the beckonings of his fingers.

14. వాని హృదయము అతిమూర్ఖ స్వభావముగలది వాడెల్లప్పుడు కీడు కల్పించుచు జగడములు పుట్టించును.

14. [His] perverse heart devises evils: at all times such a one causes troubles to a city.

15. కాబట్టి ఆపద వానిమీదికి హఠాత్తుగా వచ్చును వాడు తిరుగలేకుండ ఆ క్షణమందే నలుగగొట్టబడును.

15. Therefore his destruction shall come suddenly, overthrow and irretrievable ruin.

16. యెహోవాకు అసహ్యములైనవి ఆరు గలవు ఏడును ఆయనకు హేయములు

16. For he rejoices in all things which God hates, and he is ruined by reason of impurity of soul.

17. అవేవనగా, అహంకారదృష్టియు కల్లలాడు నాలుకయు నిరపరాధులను చంపు చేతులును

17. The eye of the haughty, an unjust tongue, hands shedding innocent blood,

18. దుర్యోచనలు యోచించు హృదయమును కీడు చేయుటకు త్వరపడి పరుగులెత్తు పాదములును

18. a heart devising evil thoughts, and feet hastening to do evil, [are hateful to God].

19. లేనివాటిని పలుకు అబద్ధసాక్షియు అన్నదమ్ములలో జగడములు పుట్టించువాడును.

19. An unjust witness kindles falsehoods, and brings on quarrels between brothers.

20. నా కుమారుడా, నీ తండ్రి ఆజ్ఞను గైకొనుము నీ తల్లి ఉపదేశమును త్రోసివేయకుము.

20. [My] son, keep the laws of your father, and do not reject the ordinances of your mother:

21. వాటిని ఎల్లప్పుడు నీ హృదయమునందు ధరించు కొనుము నీ మెడచుట్టు వాటిని కట్టుకొనుము.

21. but bind them upon your soul continually, and hang them as a chain about your neck.

22. నీవు త్రోవను వెళ్లునప్పుడు అది నిన్ను నడిపించును నీవు పండుకొనునప్పుడు అది నిన్ను కాపాడును. నీవు మేలుకొనునప్పుడు అది నీతో ముచ్చటించును.

22. Whenever you walk, lead this along and let it be with you, that it may talk with you when you wake.

23. ఆజ్ఞ దీపముగాను ఉపదేశము వెలుగుగాను ఉండును. శిక్షార్థమైన గద్దింపులు జీవమార్గములు.

23. For the commandment of the law is a lamp and a light; a way of life; reproof also and correction:

24. చెడు స్త్రీయొద్దకు పోకుండను పరస్త్రీ పలుకు ఇచ్చకపు మాటలకు లోబడకుండను అవి నిన్ను కాపాడును.

24. to keep you continually from a married woman, and from the flattery of a strange tongue.

25. దాని చక్కదనమునందు నీ హృదయములో ఆశపడకుము అది తన కనురెప్పలను చికిలించి నిన్ను లోపరచుకొన నియ్యకుము.

25. Let not the desire of beauty overcome you, neither be caught by her eyes, or captivated with her eyelids.

26. వేశ్యాసాంగత్యము చేయువానికి రొట్టెతునక మాత్రము మిగిలియుండును. మగనాలు మిక్కిలి విలువగల ప్రాణమును వేటాడును.

26. For the value of a harlot is as much as of one loaf of bread, and a woman hunts for the precious souls of men.

27. ఒకడు తన ఒడిలో అగ్ని నుంచుకొనినయెడల వాని వస్త్రములు కాలకుండునా?

27. Shall anyone bind fire in his bosom, and not burn his garments?

28. ఒకడు నిప్పులమీద నడిచినయెడల వాని పాదములు కమలకుండునా?

28. Or will anyone walk on coals of fire, and not burn his feet?

29. తన పొరుగువాని భార్యను కూడువాడు ఆ ప్రకారమే నాశనమగును ఆమెను ముట్టువాడు శిక్ష తప్పించుకొనడు.

29. So is he that goes in to a married woman; he shall not be held guiltless, neither anyone that touches her.

30. దొంగ ఆకలిగొని ప్రాణరక్షణకొరకు దొంగిలిన యెడల యెవరును వాని తిరస్కరింపరు గదా.

30. It is not to be wondered at if one should be caught stealing, for he steals that when hungry, he may satisfy his soul:

31. వాడు దొరికినయెడల ఏడంతలు చెల్లింపవలెను తన యింటి ఆస్తి అంతయు అప్పగింపవలెను.

31. but if he should be caught, he shall repay sevenfold, and shall deliver himself by giving all his goods.

32. జారత్వము జరిగించువాడు కేవలము బుద్ధిశూన్యుడు ఆ కార్యము చేయువాడు స్వనాశనమును కోరువాడే

32. But the adulterer through lack of understanding procures destruction to his soul.

33. వాడు దెబ్బలకును అవమానమునకును పాత్రుడగును వానికి కలుగు అపకీర్తి యెన్నటికిని తొలగిపోదు.

33. He endures both pain and disgrace, and his reproach shall never be wiped off.

34. భర్తకు పుట్టు రోషము మహా రౌద్రముగలది ప్రతికారము చేయు కాలమందు అట్టివాడు కనికరపడడు.

34. For the soul of her husband is full of jealousy: he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35. ప్రాయశ్చిత్తమేమైన నీవు చేసినను వాడు లక్ష్యపెట్టడు ఎంత గొప్ప బహుమానములు నీవిచ్చినను వాడు ఒప్పుకొనడు.

35. He will not forego his enmity for any ransom: neither will he be reconciled by many gifts.
