1. యొర్దాను ఇవతలనున్న అరణ్యములో, అనగా పారాను కును తోపెలు, లాబాను, హజేరోతు, దీజాహాబను స్థల ములకును మధ్య సూపునకు ఎదురుగానున్న ఆరాబాలో మోషే, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరితో చెప్పిన మాటలు ఇవే.

1. These, are the words, which Moses spake unto all Israel, over the Jordan, in the wilderness in the waste plain over against Suph, between Paran and Tophel, and Laban and Hazeroth and Di-zahab:

2. హోరేబునుండి శేయీరు మన్నెపుమార్గముగా కాదేషు బర్నేయవరకు పదకొండు దినముల ప్రయాణము.

2. eleven days from Horeb, by way of Mount Seir, as far as Kadesh-barnea.

3. హెష్బోనులో నివసించిన అమోరీయుల రాజైన సీహో నును అష్తారోతులో నివసించిన బాషాను రాజైన ఓగును ఎద్రెయీలో హతము చేసినతరువాత

3. And it came to pass, in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first of the month, that Moses spake unto the sons of Israel, according to all that Yahweh had given him in charge for them;

4. నలుబదియవ సంవ త్సరములో పదకొండవ నెల మొదటి తేదిని మోషే ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు బోధించుటకై యెహోవా తన కాజ్ఞా పించినదంతయు వారితో చెప్పెను.

4. after he had smitten Sihon, king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og, king of Bashan, who dwelt in Ashtaroth, in Edrei:

5. యొర్దాను ఇవతలనున్న మోయాబు దేశమున మోషే యీ ధర్మశాస్త్రమును ప్రక టింప మొదలుపెట్టి ఇట్లనెను

5. over the Jordan, in the land of Moab, did Moses take in hand to expound this law, saying:

6. మన దేవుడైన యెహోవా హోరేబులో మనకు ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను ఈ పర్వతము నొద్ద మీరు నివసించిన కాలము చాలును;

6. Yahweh our God, spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Long enough, have ye dwelt in this mountain:

7. మీరు తిరిగి ప్రయాణమై అమోరీయుల మన్నెమునకును, అరాబా లోను, మన్నెములోను, లోయలోను, దక్షిణదిక్కున సముద్రతీరములోనున్న స్థలములన్నిటికిని, కనానుదేశము నకును, లెబానోనుకును, మహానదియైన యూఫ్రటీసువరకును వెళ్లుడి.

7. Turn ye and set yourselves forward, and enter into the hill country of the Amorites, and into all the places near, in the plain, in the mountain, and in the lowland, and in the south, and in the coast of the sea, the land of Canaan and the Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.

8. ఇదిగో ఆ దేశమును మీకు అప్పగించితిని మీరు వెళ్లి యెహోవా మీ పితరులైన అబ్రాహాము ఇస్సాకు యాకోబులకును వారి తరువాత వారి సంతానమునకును ఇచ్చెదనని నేను ప్రమాణముచేసిన దేశమును స్వాధీన పరచుకొనుడి.

8. See! I have set before you the land, enter and possess the land, which, Yahweh sware unto your fathers to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give unto them, and unto their seed, after them.

9. అప్పుడు నేనుఒంటరిగా మిమ్మును భరింపలేను.

9. So spake unto you, at that time saying, I am unable, by myself, to carry you.

10. మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా మిమ్ము విస్తరింప జేసెను గనుక నేడు మీరు ఆకాశ నక్షత్రములవలె విస్తరించి యున్నారు.

10. Yahweh your God hath multiplied you, and here ye are to-day, like the stars of the heavens for multitude.

11. మీ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా మీ జనసంఖ్యను వెయ్యి రెట్లు ఎక్కువచేసి, తాను మీతో చెప్పినట్లు మిమ్మును ఆశీర్వదించునుగాక.

11. Yahweh, the God of your fathers, be adding unto you the like of you, a thousand times, and bless you, as he hath spoken unto you!

12. నేనొక్కడనే మీ కష్టమును మీ భారమును మీ వివాదమును ఎట్లు భరింపగలను?

12. How should I carry by myself the fatigue of you and the burden of you and your controversies?

13. జ్ఞానవివేకములు కలిగి, మీ మీ గోత్రము లలో ప్రసిద్ధిచెందిన మనుష్యులను ఏర్పరచుకొనుడి; వారిని మీమీద నియమించెదనని మీతో చెప్పగా

13. Set forth for you men wise and discerning, and known to your tribes, that I may appoint them to be heads over you.

14. మీరునీవు చెప్పిన మాటచొప్పున చేయుట మంచిదని నాకు ఉత్తరమిచ్చితిరి.

14. And ye answered me, and said, Good, is the word which thou hast spoken to be done.

15. కాబట్టి బుద్ధి కలిగి ప్రసిద్ధులైన మీ మీ గోత్రములలోని ముఖ్యులను పిలిపించుకొని, మీ గోత్రములకు న్యాయాధిపతులుగా ఉండుటకై వెయ్యి మందికి ఒకడును, నూరుమందికి ఒకడును ఏబదిమందికి ఒకడును, పదిమందికి ఒకడును వారిని, మీమీద నేను నియమించితిని.

15. So I took heads for your tribes wise men and known, and placed them as heads over you, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties and captains of tens, and overseers for your tribes.

16. అప్పుడు నేను మీ న్యాయాధిపతులతోమీ సహోదరుల వ్యాజ్యెములను తీర్చి, ప్రతి మనుష్యుని కిని వాని సహోదరునికిని వానియొద్దనున్న పరదేశికిని న్యాయమునుబట్టి మీరు తీర్పు తీర్చవలెను.

16. And I charged your judges, at that time, saying, Ye are to hear between your brethren and shall judge righteously, between each magi and his brother and his sojourner.

17. తీర్పు తీర్చు నప్పుడు అల్పుల సంగతి గాని ఘనుల సంగతి గాని పక్ష పాతములేకుండ వినవలెను; న్యాయపుతీర్పు దేవునిదే. కాబట్టి మీరు మనుష్యుని ముఖము చూచి భయపడవద్దు. మీకు అసాధ్యమైన కఠినవ్యాజ్యెమును నాయొద్దకు తీసి కొని రావలెను; నేను దానిని విచారించెదనని వారి కాజ్ఞా పించితిని.

17. Ye shall not take note of faces in judgment so the small as the great, shall ye hear, ye shall not shrink from the face of any man, for judgment, unto God, belongeth, but the thing which is too hard for you, shall ye bring near unto me, and I will hear it.

18. మరియు మీరు చేయవలసిన సమస్తకార్యము లను గూర్చి అప్పుడు మీకాజ్ఞాపించితిని.

18. So I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

19. మనము హోరేబునుండి సాగి మన దేవుడైన యెహోవా మనకాజ్ఞాపించినట్లు మీరు చూచిన ఆ ఘోరమైన మహా రణ్యములోనుండి వచ్చి, అమోరీయుల మన్నెపు మార్గమున కాదేషు బర్నేయకు చేరితివిు.

19. And when we brake up from Horeb, we came through all that great and terrible desert which ye saw, by way of the hill-country of the Amorites, as Yahweh our God commanded us, and we entered in as far as Kadesh-barnea.

20. అప్పుడు నేనుమన దేవు డైన యెహోవా మనకిచ్చుచున్న అమోరీయుల మన్నె మునకు వచ్చి యున్నాము.

20. Then said I unto you, Ye are come in as far as the hill-country of the Amorites, which Yahweh our God, is giving unto us.

21. ఇదిగో నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా యీ దేశమును నీకు అప్పగించెను. నీ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా నీతో సెలవిచ్చినట్లు దాని స్వాధీనపరచు కొనుము, భయపడకుము, అధైర్యపడకుమని నీతో చెప్పితిని.

21. See thou Yahweh thy God hath set before thee the land, go up take possession as Yahweh the God of thy fathers hath spoken unto thee, do not fear, neither be dismayed.

22. అప్పుడు మీరందరు నాయొద్దకు వచ్చిమనకంటె ముందుగా మనుష్యులను పంపుదము; వారు మనకొరకు ఈ దేశమును వేగు జూచి, తిరిగి వచ్చి అందులోనికి మనము వెళ్లవలసిన త్రోవను గూర్చియు, మనము చేరవలసిన పురములను గూర్చియు మనకు వర్తమానము చెప్పుదు రంటిరి.

22. And ye came near unto me all of you, and said Let us send men before us, that they may search out for us the land, and bring us back word, the way by which we must go up, and the cities whereinto we must enter,

23. ఆ మాట మంచిదనుకొని నేను గోత్రమొక్కంటికి ఒక మనుష్యుని చొప్పున పన్నిద్దరు మనుష్యులను పిలి పించితిని.

23. And the thing, was good in mine eyes, so I took from among you twelve men, one man for each tribe.

24. వారు తిరిగి ఆ మన్నెమునకు పోయి ఎష్కోలు లోయకు వచ్చి దాని వేగుజూచి ఆ దేశఫలములను చేత పట్టుకొని

24. And they turned and went up the hill-country, and entered in as far as the ravine of Eshcol, and explored it.

25. మనయొద్దకు తీసికొని వచ్చిమన దేవుడైన యెహోవా మన కిచ్చుచున్న దేశము మంచిదని మనకు తెలియ జెప్పిరి.

25. And they took in their hand of the fruit of the country, and bare it down unto us, and brought us back word, and said, Good is the land, which Yahweh our God, is giving unto us.

26. అయితే మీరు వెళ్లనొల్లక మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చిన మాటకు తిరుగబడి

26. Nevertheless ye were not willing to go up, but rebelled against the bidding of Yahweh, your God;

27. మీ గుడారము లలో సణుగుచుయెహోవా మనయందు పగపట్టినందున మనలను సంహరించునట్లు అమోరీయుల చేతికి మనలను అప్పగించుటకు ఐగుప్తుదేశములో నుండి మనలను రప్పించి యున్నాడు.

27. and murmured in your tents and said, Because Yahweh hated us, hath he brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

28. మనమెక్కడికి వెళ్లగలము? మన సహో దరులు అక్కడి జనులు మనకంటె బలిష్ఠులును ఎత్త రులునై యున్నారు; ఆ పట్టణములు గొప్పవై ఆకాశము నంటు ప్రాకారములతో నున్నవి; అక్కడ అనాకీయు లను చూచితిమని చెప్పి మా హృదయములను కరగజేసిరని మీరు చెప్పితిరి.

28. Whither, are, we, to go up? Our own brethren, have made our heart melt saying A people greater and taller than we, cities large and walled-up into the heavens, yea, moreover sons of Anakim, have we seen there.

29. అప్పుడు నేను మిమ్మును చూచి దిగులు పడకుడి, వారికి భయపడకుడి,

29. Then I said unto you, Ye must not tremble, nor be afraid of them:

30. మీకు ముందర నడుచు చున్న మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా మీ కన్నులయెదుట

30. Yahweh your God, who is going before you, he, will fight for you, according to all that he did with you in Egypt, before your eyes;

31. ఐగుప్తులోను అరణ్యములోను మీకొరకు చేసినట్టు మీ పక్షముగా యుద్ధము చేయును, మీరు ఈ చోటికి చేరువరకు మీరు వచ్చిన మార్గమంతటిలోను మనుష్యుడు తన కుమారుని ఎత్తికొనునట్లు మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా మిమ్మును ఎత్తికొని వచ్చిన సంగతి మీరెరుగుదురని మీతో చెప్పితిని.

31. also in the desert which thou hast seen, where Yahweh thy God carried thee as a man will carry his son, throughout all the way that ye journeyed, until ye entered as far as, this place.

32. అయితే మీకు త్రోవ చూపించి మీ గుడా రములను వేయవలసిన స్థలమును మీకు సిద్ధపరచునట్లు

32. But in this firing, ye were putting no trust in Yahweh your God;

33. రాత్రి అగ్నిలోను పగలు మేఘములోను మీకు ముందర నడి చిన మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాయందు మీరు విశ్వాస ముంచలేదు.

33. who was going before you in the way to search out for you a place, where ye might encamp, in the fire by night, that ye might get sight of the way wherein ye should go, and in the cloud, by day.

34. కాగా యెహోవా మీరు చెప్పిన మాటలువిని

34. And Yahweh heard the voice of your words, and was wroth and sware saying:

35. బహుగా కోపపడినేను మీ పితరులకిచ్చెదనని ప్రమాణము చేసిన యీ మంచి దేశమును ఈ చెడ్డతరము వారిలొ

35. Surely, not one of these men, this wicked generation, shall see the good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers:

36. యెఫున్నె కుమారుడైన కాలేబు తప్ప మరి ఎవ డును చూడడు. అతడు పూర్ణమనస్సుతో యెహోవాను అనుసరించెను గనుక అతడు దానిని చూచును. అతడు అడుగుపెట్టిన దేశమును నేను అతనికిని అతని సంతాన మునకును ఇచ్చెదనని ప్రమాణముచేసెను.

36. saving Caleb son of Jephunneh, he, shall see it, and unto him, will I give the land through which he hath trodden, and unto his sons, because he hath wholly followed Yahweh.

37. మరియు యెహోవా మిమ్మునుబట్టి నామీద కోపపడినీ పరిచారకు డగు నూను కుమారుడైన యెహోషువ దానిలో ప్రవేశిం చునుగాని నీవు దానిలో ప్రవేశింపవు.

37. Even with me, did Yahweh show himself angry, for your sakes, saying, Even thou, shalt not enter therein.

38. అతడు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులు దాని స్వాధీనపరచుకొన చేయును గనుక అతని ధైర్యపరచుము.

38. Joshua son of Nun, who standeth before thee, he, shall enter in thither, him, strengthen thou, for he, shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39. ఆ దినమున మంచి చెడ్డలనెరుగని మీ కుమారులు, అనగా అపహరింప బడుదురని మీరు చెప్పిన మీ పిల్లలు దానిలో ప్రవేశింతురు; దానిని వారి కిచ్చెదను; వారు దానిని స్వాధీనపరచుకొందురు.

39. And your little ones, of whom ye said they should become, a prey, and your sons who to-day know not good and evil, they, shall enter in thither, and unto them, will I give it, and they, shall possess it.

40. మీరు తిరిగి ఎఱ్ఱసముద్ర మార్గముగా అరణ్యమునకు ప్రయాణము చేయుడని చెప్పెను.

40. But as for you, turn ye, for your part, and set forward towards the desert, by way of the Red Sea.

41. అందుకు మీరుమేము యెహో వాకు విరోధముగా పాపము చేసితివిు; మా దేవుడైన యెహోవా మా కాజ్ఞాపించిన మాటలన్నిటి ననుసరించి మేము పోయి యుద్ధము చేసెదమని నాతో ఉత్తర మిచ్చి, మీరందరు మీ ఆయుధములను కట్టుకొని, ఆలోచింపక ఆ మన్నెమునకు పోగా

41. Then responded ye and said unto me We have sinned against Yahweh, We, ourselves, will go up, and fight, according to all that Yahweh our God hath commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye foolishly went up towards the hill-country.

42. యెహోవా నాతో ఇట్లనెనుయుద్ధమునకు పోకుడి; నేను మీ మధ్యనుండను గనుక వెళ్లకుడి; మీరు వెళ్లినను మీ శత్రువులయెదుట హతము చేయబడుదురని వారితో చెప్పుము.

42. Then said Yahweh unto me Say unto them Ye shall not go up, nor fight, for I am not in your midst, lest ye should be smitten before your enemies.

43. ఆ మాటలు నేను మీతో చెప్పినప్పుడు మీరు వినక యెహోవా మాటకు తిరుగబడి మూర్ఖులై ఆ మన్నెమునకు వెళ్లితిరి.

43. So I spake unto you howbeit ye hearkened not, but rebelled against the bidding of Yahweh, and presumptuously went up the hill-country.

44. అప్పుడు ఆ మన్నెములో నివసించిన అమోరీయులు మీకెదురుగా బయలుదేరి వచ్చి, కందిరీగలవలె మిమ్ము తరిమి హోర్మావరకు శేయీరులో మిమ్ము హతముచేసిరి.

44. Then came forth the Amorites who were dwelling in that country, to meet you, and they chased you, as do, bees; and struck you down in Seir, as far as Hormah.

45. తరువాత మీరు తిరిగి వచ్చి యెహోవా సన్నిధిని యేడ్వగా, యెహోవా మీ మొఱను లక్ష్యపెట్టలేదు, మీ మాట వినలేదు.

45. So then ye returned and wept before Yahweh, but Yahweh hearkened not unto your voice, nor gave ear unto you.

46. కాగా మీరు కాదేషులో బహు దినములు నివసించితిరి. మీరు నివసించిన దినములెన్నో మీకు తెలిసినవి.

46. And ye abode in Kadesh many days, how many were the days that ye abode there !
